I was wondering if it would be possible to get the HTC incredible rom and extract the TV out APP from it. Just wondering if this has been discussed or thought of since it is the first Android device to support it, that I know of.
If the HTC Touch Pro I had could do it and the Hero with the same hardware as HTC TP, It should be possible.
Just a thought.
hmmm i thought the same thing but ive been so busy flashing all these roms i forgot to post this lol.........
could you describe the app? never heard of it (ive neglected to research other phones over the evo)
is it usb tv out?
Sent from my HERO200 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
i saw it done on a TP where its all done through the headphone jack to video and audio cables
Attached is the TVOUT.apk and TVOUT.odex from the Incredible in a zip file. I just did an adb pull from /system/app, and I have no idea if these will be of any use for you on the Hero, but here you go anyways -- you can give it a shot.
i dont think its an app, i just think it has the ability, it does it via USB, you would need the correct cables.
http://www.androidcentral.com/tv-out-verizon-htc-droid-incredible-looks-incredibly-easy
no the incredible does tv out through micro usb. its different from the touch pro 2, this is the cable i think would work with the hero.

Nice find on the cable! I'm terribly interested in doing this as well. I used to be able to stream live hockey games from my Slingbox through my Touch Pro phone to the input on my cars AV deck so my kids can watch the games while I drive, live. It was slick and I really miss that feature. Would be awesome to get it back on the Hero. I heard Sling is putting out an app this summer.
and this makes the EVO That much more fun.. it has a Mini HDMI port.. no mess, no fuss.
yeah i do believe this could actually work with our hero's, i guess we gotta see, i wish flash 10 was here already, i want to live stream the mayweather boxing fight tonight live from my phone.......and i also heard sling was putting out an android app as well, dont know for sure if its this summer, would be nice. i wonder if i could order the fight from sprint tv lol, they would charge me like 50 bucks most likely lol

watch the fight on the ustream viewer app or from Skyfire
I will try the app and see what happens. The video cables are available to buy for like 15 bucks or so, it only composite but better than nothing. I would like to have this feature to connect to out tv in the break room where I work.

put app in c:/android-sdk/tools
adb push app.apk /system/app <--Try first
or
adb install /system/app app.apk
You can always type the directorys to an app also like so
adb push c:/users/justin/desktop/Myapp.apk /system/app
C:\AndroidSDK\tools>adb install /system/app tvout.apk
610 KB/s (28737 bytes in 0.046s)
pkg: /system/app
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE]
C:\AndroidSDK\tools>adb install /system/app tvout.apk

Hmmm....I dont have that many apps installed. I wonder if I had APPS2SD running if it might work then? I will try it tommorow. Have to get some sleep. If anyone has a2sd running please try to install this app and get back to me. Thanks.
You guys will also need the librarys to use the video out.
Has anybody got this working on a different phone?
No go...keeps he phone from booting when pushed to phone.

Just curious if this phone will have a workaround to sideload Android Apps like the HTC did for Aria (Full Description Here if you didnt know: http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/htc-sync-lets-att-aria-owners-sideload-apps )? If anyone knows please post! I was on the fence when I saw no camera flash, but seeing that AT&T will be restricting (why? Iphone competition?) unknown Android Apps is another big one. So if atleast there is a workaround, I will consider switching to this phone.
If not, ill just keep hoping for Android on my HTC hd2
I'm not certain either. I did download the Samsung Kies program last night but didn't look at it since I don't have a Captivate to hook it to until Sunday. I have a reasonable expectation that it will allow you to do it since you can buy apps from Samsung directly in the program.
Also consider that this phone has already been rooted. My understanding is that you can load "unauthorized" apps and apps that require root access once this has been done. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick responses guys. Looks like Ill be heading to my AT&T store. Been wanting to have a fully fledged smart android phone on at&t for awhile now. Heres hoping for the best
I was under the impression that the root alone wont give that option back. Do you need a custom rom as well or does the root really take care of the issue by itself?
*foot in mouth*

you can sideload with samsungs app if you grabbed it before they pulled it back. Im sure if you did a google for it or asked here someone might have a mirror to it. I didnt grab it while it was up cuz i didnt think they'd push the undo button on it.
p.s. i believe you wont need a root if you had that app.

fk me i should go to bed. I was thinking about the htc aria. Totally diff story.
But further research shows that peeps have already tested sideloading and it works through the ADB. I didn't find a full review however. Try to do a google search for how to side load captivate adb and see if anything useful pops up. let us know. If you don't find anything ill properly look into it tomorrow

idk if your G1 will work... It sounds like it needs a device with Clockwork and a CM ROM. I'm going to look into it more before I attempt to jailbreak my PS3, but from what I have read, the latest firmware update (out this week) will overwrite the exploit and re-imprison the PS3.

I was trying to look when I had time at work, but if the G1 has the MSM72K USB controller it should work, but i've not had time to find out if it does. But the USB jailbreak hardware that this software is based off of, would prevent the PS3 from updating to the new firmware. You only need to update the firmware in order to go online to use those features of the PS3. If you don't play online or do online stuff with it (like me) you don't HAVE to update the firmware that Sony sends out. So if the G1 has the MSM72k USB controller we should be all set. I'm pretty sure as well that there will be an update to the jailbreak software to get around the new firmware update soon. I don't think it would NEED clockwork or CM, just that who ever it was that got it working was using that setup. I'll be home in a few hours and will experiment a little and see what happens. If it don't work on the G1, i'll try it on the Moto Cliq (may have the usb controller). And if THAT don't work i'll wait for the HTC Vision to hit T-Mo and try it with that..hehehe. worst comes worst, i'll find a used N1.
Too bad playstation released a update for these things, there surely on top of their game!
If I were you, I wouldn't want to forgo the sony updates, as they are often times feature enhancing like the 3D support that's being added later this year.

as long as you have not updated
is this posible JAILBREAK with the new TRUE BLUE metod??
Sony has been on top of their updates lately cause there are a ton of people out there that use the jailbreak just to cheat at online play with alot of games especially COD! I liked to use it just so I could copy all my games onto my hdd I've got a 1 TB drive in there but it's mostly the little punk kids that cheat and hack games cause they suck so much at playing them. Its pretty pathetic really what's the point of cheating? It doesn't make you a better player just lazier!

PS3 Jailbreak
hii friends,
i need ps3 jailbreak 4.83 version
Saw this hasn't been posted yet in the Evo forums and wanted to post it.
It is the Netflix apk from the LG Revolution system dump.
The app loads fine and I can log in to Netflix fine, and see movie categories, etc.
Run into problems when I click on a movie to stream: I get some sort of 1005 Error saying it cant connect to Netflix servers.
I am hoping the Devs can work some magic and get this working on our Evos!
UPDATE:
I also attached the DRM Odex and APK file I found inside the system dump.
I am in the process of putting up the system dump zip via Rapidshare at the moment!
Would appreciate the thanks button!
UPDATE 2: LG Revolution System Dump http://rapidshare.com/files/452738666/LG_Revolution_SystemDump.zip
I run into similar problems. Pretty cool to know it is close to being in our devices.
Interesting!!!
Where did you get the dump? There's may be some DRM files in their thats needed to work. The blockbuster app is setup that way.
Downloading the system dump now. Will be uploading as soon as I get it.
Cool......
May take a while uploading though, since I dont have a premium rapidshare account, etc and the zip size is about 442mb.

+1 I'm also excited to finally feel like I can utilize that "premium data" fee of $10 a month!

now the thing is have the DRM where do we need to put it to get it to work? any ideas if show please share them
I tried replacing the LG Revolution DRM apk with the DRM apk originally in the Evo, but no dice. Changed permissions and all, but its not working....
Figured start with the most simple solution, but nope didnt work
i was trying to move them around to but we also need to get into the apk and find the code for each phone's type of processor that isnt snapdragon so it will function with hummingbirg and qualcomm ect if we can do that then we are in business

how will this get us in business? we would still need to be able to contract the DRMs with the device as well as with the original APK itself? theres more to it then just that, but technically any device with a qualcom snapdragon processor should be just fine, thats who netflix is working with and as seen at wmc and the such netflix was running just fine. so we definitely need to figure this out!
GO DEVS GO!!!!!
EVO is not properly DRM compliant...
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/android_owners_netflix_has_good_news_and_bad_news.php
One will need to crack the apk to think that the device is compliant.
really hope they are able to get this to work with the EVO.

how about netflix just get their crap together and give android some love? they can figure out how to make billions but cant figure out how to stream their own service on android?
I mean, yeah, go devs. but its kind of sad that we have to wait for outside devs to figure this out for a billion dollar corporation.

Probably because it's supposed to launch with that device, likely an exclusivity deal. Netflix probably doesn't have their service hooked up for android yet, because it's not supposed to be available.
Here's the app from the recent update, figured some of you who didn't flash do to root/errors would want it.
I double checked that it worked with a rental, so it looks good. Only thing is I don't have an updated market app to rent from just bought it on market.android.com (Does anyone have an updated market they can throw me for rentals? Hit me up in PM.)
-----------------------
If you blow your tablet up with this....I'm not going to take any blame for it. I will laugh at you though.
-----------------------
FYI: Installs just like any downloaded .apk no root needed.
Still trying to figure out a way to get updated without flashing back to a complete stock situation. Enjoy.
You can't rent movies with root access. Won't happen. Well you could rent them but you can't watch them afterwards.
Works for me just fine. I'm stock rooted though.

I think if you rename the su executable to mu you can download the movies and watch them, if you're rooted. That's how google is checking for rootedness. Just make sure to rename the su back afterwards.

Hi,
I have a request. Does some know how to make NBA Game Time 2012-2012 or NBA.TV app work on kindle fire. I tried through android market but it says that my device is not compatible.
Do you have any advice to solve this problem ?
(If by any chance you have the apk to install this I would really appreciate sending my liknk through PM)
Best regards,
I will ask differenlty ;-)
May someone from US who has access to Android Market, download NBA Game Time 2011-2012 and make backup of it and then post a link to a apk file so we can test if it works on Kindle Fire?
Thank in advance!
I need the app also. I have a dell streak 7 from t-mobile that I reloaded with the streak 7 honeycomb rom. Now the app wont install because it allows streak7 t-mobile but not the wifi that the honeycomb rom is based off of. Its too smart for its own good.
I pulled the APK from my Inc2, and it's odd since it's buried in another spot, not in /data/app.
I tried to install it on my kindle (unrooted) but it would get stuck at the splash screen. Anyways, here's the apk.

i dont think that will work- pkg.apk is for sprint broadband nba.
The file which was included above do work on Kindle Fire. I didn't try mobile league pass because I'm not in US.
I also istalled NBA.TV app which supposed to be not only for US users and it also works on Fire but it's not dedicated for tablet so for instance I can't login to international league pass because of screen issue.
Hope it helps
I was able to install it on my Transformer, using the above link, as it wasn't in the market for me, or any other tablet user. Everything works ok, except on videos I only have audio, no video. Hopefully they update it to support all tablets, including the Fire.

It wasn't for Sprint broaband only but regular one. The Sprint NBA Game Time blocks me just at the beginning, this works just fine
