Hey Guys I Am New To this. so if this is in the wrong place im sorry...
well when i 1st got my N1 the wifi was working Just Fine.well And Just a Few Days Ago I was was trying to connect to my Wifi At school and it would not connect it would not even try...so i guessed it was the school wifi so i got home i did it on my home network and the same issue...when i try and connect it asked me for my Password but when i type it in and push connect it just say out of range when i am right next to my router....has any one had this prob b4... and is there any why to fix is i already did a hard resent... maybe unrooting and going back to stock out the box N1 would work but i have not clue on how to do that HELP GUY PLZ!!!
Did you recently flash a custom kernel? It doesn't sound like your issue, but it's worth a shot...
well i dont think i did but ill try anything at this point I mean i GEt 3g And I Only Use wifi in my House cuz i dont get 3g in my room sounds confusing sorry by anyways my Kernel number is 2.6.29.6-gcbca6ae [email protected]#2 idk if that stock or not

Im using the new CMDA mightyrom, and trying to setup my wi-fi. But everytime i try it says 'connecting....available...un-available' i turn wifi back on and it repeats. it does other stuff to but it changes depending on what kind of wep key i say it is. its just a standard wep key. Anyone please help before i use all my data usage . O and fyi I'm on a Telus TP2
I find sometimes that rebooting the router helps.
found the issue. MAKE SURE U REMEMBER TO RUN ANY CARRIER SPECIFIC MATERIAL. I got caught up in the wonderfulness of rom flashin i forgot to run my telus.cab all good now, hope everyone is loving their new roms

i have problem with my wifi on my phone.....i use to be on gb rom everything was working great than 4 days later i try to get on inter net with my wifi signal and i couldnt i dont know why !!?? all i know it was working great before!! now i flash back to froyo and it the same situation from gb no wifi signal i soon relazid that it wasnt the rom !!! i try WPS button conection but it says press Wps on ur wifi access point within 2 minutes but i dont see no WPS button on my wifi acces point and i dont know what to do ughh need help on this it aint the first time it happen tome last time i just stop using wifi for 5 days cuz i got mad at it and it start working after 5 days but now it have happen again and i dont wanna wait 5 days againg sucks ....i got time warner cable ..i need help on any thing that can help me fix this problem!!!!
Try resetting your router. Just unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Are other computers or phones able to access the net?

I am having strange problem with my DS.
I cannot connect to my Google account,Facebook App is not working and...
Well to cut the story short pretty much any app that requires connection to the internet+credentials will not connect.Amazon appstore,Tweetcaster,Tweetdroid,Friendcaster...you name it...the only one that works is official Twitter App(weird).
When I'm tring set up my Google account all I'm getting is "Cannot establish reliable connection..." I know I am connected to the internet cos I'm writing this post on my phone.browsing internet is the only thing I can do.
Now I was searching net for this problem and the only suggestion was HARD Reset.I can rule that out cos I went even further.I flashed 5 different ROMs and problem still persist.
Next thing on my mind was there is something wrong with my carrier.Nope.rang them up and they claim all is ok on their side.I'm on 3UK and I have iPhone4 as well on 3 UK.on iPhone4 everything works flawlessly so I swapped SIM cards.guess what...the same thing on DESIRE S.
I am no noob and I went through literally all the platforms being able to solve 99% of my problems on my own but this one seems to be bigger than me.
If anyone came across this problem before or knows the answer please help.

Okay, lets try to solve this one quickly.
First, some history...
When did this start happening?
Was everthing working well initially, and then suddenly this problem popped up, or has it been like this from the beginning?
Have you recently done any kind of modding or flashing to your phone prior to this?
Then, some diagnostic tests.
Do you have wifi?
If you do, Can you connect?
If you can, do your apps work well with the wifi connection?

And yes.it all started all of a sudden.before I was one happy DS owner.

Could you please go to Setting> Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks and check if toggling Network mode helps?
Also make sure that you've selected the correct Access Point Name (The APN should say www)
Let me know what happens.
Nope.tried switching mobile networks on/off.nothing.airplane mode on/off also no luck.APN is right and I can confirm that cos I can browse Internet.it seems that downloading is fine but as soon I try "send something out" like email or tokens to connect to certain services it fails.

Must say i'm at a loss here. Usually whenever i have issues like this, going through the steps mentioned above rectifies it.
Sorry brother, i'm out of ideas here. Will try asking around for more. I hope someone with a better understanding of this will be able to help you out.

Have you tried different kernels? (Clutching at straws (but worth a punt)).
When you wipe before a clean install what do you do? Try the link in my sigi.
Any progress with your problem? If not I suggest you pm ben_pyett or olyloh or lowveld.

Hi guys.sorry I have been off the forum for a while.
This is totally strange.i found out that this is happening only at certain place.when I am at work problem is there but as soon as I get home everything works fine.it must be something related to cell I am connected to while in my work area.my colleague told me he is suffering from the same thing.he has HTC Desire HD and custom ROM on board and he is also 3UK customer.but what I don't understand at all is that my iPhone works like a charm using the same network.obviously I called customer service again and they claim there is nothing wrong with the network.

My problem is that my phone wont stay connected to a wifi network. It connects for like 5 seconds then drops off then reconnects then does it again. i figured it was just the rom i was using but i have flashed 4 roms in the last 3 day and all of them have this issue. (i almost wish i stayed on stock gingerbread. smh) I dont really want to flash The RUU again to see if it fixes it because i dont want to go through the process or rooting again.
O yeah it not a death grip issue either. i tryed putting my phone on the same table as my wireless N router and it still does it...

It seems like it was to connect but it wont connect, i leave my phone to try and connect for many hours and it doesnt. I go to mysettings to try and turn the wifi position to off and i cant. Ive tried restarting and taking the battery out and nothing helps. I got my wifi to turn off, and after a few hours without trying to get on wifi i tried connecting and its back to what it has been doing, like in a stuck position. I got it to go off by turning the phone off completly for a few hours. Any help is well appreciated. Thank you in advance. I tried attaching a picture to better explain this, but for some reason I cant even attach a file.

I've been having weird WiFi issues recently too. I'm stock. I disabled the ATT Smart WiFi but that doesn't seem to fix things. Tried one of the WiFi applications to reconnect when it detects the failure but that works only about 99% of the time.

My phone is stock, havent done any upgrades besides that of android. Im a beginner, so i wouldnt know how to answer this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My wifi doesnt even connect now, it shows that its trying to connect but it wont. The wifi icon doesnt go to full green, it stays on a transparent green, like it wants to connect but wont.
If it was me I'd flash the stock from and get it back to the way it used to be. But if you're on stock now and haven't done any flashing its going to take a lot of learning on your part. You are going to have to learn to use odin and where to get the stock rom. Not sure if you're up for that.

If you both are on stock call ATT. They will be more then happy to help you. With your level of knowledge that is your best course of action. They will most likely tell you to factory reset your phone. You will loose all your apps and settings. Tell them you want to back that up first. They should be able to help you from there.

I've been using this phone (skyrocket ROGERS version) and have had this problem ever since I "upgraded" to ICS; and I've had so many problems with this phone! I've just learned to accept that my WiFi will never work consistently enough for me to use it so I just always use my data plan (luckily I've got a lot of data).
THINGS I HAVE TRIED
Cm 10 stable
Cm 10 nightly
Cm 9 stable
Miui
Flashing stock ICS
Flashing stock Jb
Things I haven't tried
Flashing stock gingerbread (because this was the only time my WiFi worked consistently, but why go back to gingerbread)
If anybody has ANY insight on this it would be very helpful
I guess I should also mention that I've flashed everyone of these ROMs that I listed at least 3-5 times just to ensure it wasn't just a bad flash.
