Better and more advanced search program? - General Topics

Hey,
I'm looking for a more advanced search program than the standard wm 6.5 one.
When i'm looking for a song, most times the standard app can't even find it.
And the search function in Resco Explorer only searches from the beginning of the name.. So when i am looking for a song then i must start with the artist and i need every '-' en stuff on the right place.. Not very handy
Anyone?

actually, Resco file explorer have been supporting wildcards for years - at least it does it in v5.35. Use e.g. *substring*.*, works just great.

I don't understand you..
Example.. i want to search for Linkin Park - Numb
When i click on the little magnifier glass in the top right corner, and i typ Numb.. i get 'No matches:'
Because i have to start with linkin park..
And i have to be in the folder the song is in,
I need something like the windows vista / 7 start menu search function thing.
You type something, and you get direct results of files stored on the whole pc.

dunno why - it's working just great in 5.35 on my WM2003 iPAQ 2210. Will try to check the latest version.

just tested it in 8.0 on my WM6 iPAQ 210 - works just great.
Try searching for *explorer* (with the asterisks, of course) under Menu / Find.

Thanks but that is just the older JUVS HTC Network Plugin (Build 29714) under yet another name and I am looking for the newer 30235 build, it has the remote network hard drive icon, and does not have a world as part of the icon, with file dates of 11/10/07 I believe.
Thanks,

im interested in the latest HTC one as well.
this is pretty useful...i dont have to plug my mogul in to transfer files between it and my lappy.
net plugin is buggy
If you are using TotalCommander, there is a better plugin in the //plugins folder called LAN.
- does not crash.
- no reboot required.
- can keep a list of locations.
- simple.

TC's LAN plugin does not always work for me, and it's stupid enough to hang TC for 2-3 minutes before asking for the networks share's password... IN addition I'm only able to copy/move files with TC and not to play music with coreplayer, for instance.
network plugin always did the trick for me

Network Plugin build 30235 is a great app and works well on wm6pro htc universal. However I can only connect to 3 folders (1 internal hdd, 1 external hdd and the usual SharedDocs folder). Will the Schaps NetworkPlugin 1.0 30468 show all available shared drives? Any ideas?

I have found that build 30468 is unstable for me... I have no problem with connecting to more than three folders with 30235, as long as the folders are on Windows machines, there is a problem with the Universal connecting to SAMBA folders IMHO, it no longer will.
I added my Music folder. But can't open it..? See whats inside..

Hi Folks - I am an admitted novice. I was able to download the above file to my laptop - now how do I transfer/load/execute it on my HTC Touch Pro?
Any help would be appreciated.
Forgive my ignorance, but how do these plugins work, ive tried the HTC V1.0 one before and ive just tried the above one.
When on either, file browswer or from within a prgram such as core player and i click NETWORK as the folder, its allways empty. Ive specified an IP on my WIFI and i can access the internet through my router fine but nothing shows up either FROM the PC in net neighbourhood, or the other way round..
Ive also enabled shared folder from the network plugin settings too..
any help apreciated

how the heck do you get this thing to work?
Here's an odd one, I instaled the network plugin no problems. As soon as I enabled it it wanted to restart, fine i kind of expected that. After the restart the touchflo failed to launch.
A restart fixed the issue but strange none the less.
I'm using a touch pro 2 with the Telstra Rom (shudder....telstra are a pain)

Touch Cube and Audio Manager

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can make WMP the standard player on the Cube instead of Audio Manager?
Actually I would rather use Audio Manager but it doesn't work.
Until yesterday, i was running the original 6.0 on my Touch Dual. I could never get audio manager to work - it only found one song - and it couldn't be played because of a broken path/link or whatever. Yesterday I upgraded with the original 6.1 from HTC - and figured that audio manager would then work.
But it's almost the same problem. Audio Manager now finds 2 stadard win 6.1 songs - but none of my own songs. There's just a search icon running in the top right corner. I have tried to let it search for over an hour, but it finds nothing. I thougt that a fresh install with 6.1 would work - but no such luck.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this?
OK... - figured it out. Just changed the value in HKLM/Software/HTC/Biotouch/MediaHubMini to wmplayer.exe instead of AudioManager.exe ... - but I still would like to know, why my audio manager doesn't find anything when searching for songs.
But now I have the problem with Cube / Photos. It points to /Windows/HTCAlbum.exe - I would like to point it at StorageCard/My Pictures - but that doesn't work. Does it have to be an exe-file in order to make it work or what?
If it is the case that it can only point to an exe, which is the case for a lot of registry strings, then check out VJBrisk. It will give you an executable to point the reg string at, and then will just activate the link, which you can copy from the start menu.
Search for vijay555 on google to find his site and the app.
Hey jez
I haven't tested yet - but that looks EXACTLY like the app that can make it work.
Thanx! )
I downloaded Touch Settings. So now I can change the folder without going to registry, but I still need an exe - so VJbrisk should do the trick.
----------------------------------------
Oh well. It was worth a shot, but unfortunately it doesn't work.
I can create an exe-file, and I can also get it to open my pictures folder via Total Commander, but when I try to open via the cube - I get an error that says something like: The files certificate is not trusted or a component is missing?

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it .That ★ is pretty special.
What you could do as a workaround:
1) keep the symbol somewhere convenient (e-mail, webpage or MS Office document stored on phone)
2) copy-paste it for each site you're trying to log in to.
3) tell Opera to save the username/password
Better than nothing, I guess...

Only after pasting, or is the one you're trying to copy also being displayed like that?
If the original is also displayed as a rectangle, most likely the ★ is not present in any of the default fonts. You could try addin an extra font that contains the character somewhere on your HD2 and using font linking.
I have no idea where to look for a solution if the original ★ is displayed fine, but is just not pasted correctly though.

Just copy the file from the font folder in your computer to your device, and then move it to \Windows using Total Commander or Resco.
Another possible solution - try to log in using this as your username:
Code:
[&#9733!]
Replace the exclamation mark (!) with a semicolon (;)

That's the HTML code for the star. I doubt that will work as it won't be decoded from HTML before the login process takes place.
Just one thing that comes to mind - when you copied and pasted it and got the rectangle in the login box, did you actually try to log in? I assume you did, but I only ask because it shouldn't matter whether you have the font or not - you just want the correct character. The font is only for visual purposes, but software will still read the character as exactly what it is, regardless of what it looks like.
thanks nsider, that did work but john now I think about I think I didnt bother trying to paste the square in, oh well, its sorted now ;D
I didint try it but maybe its the solution you are looking for.
1.Install finger keyboard and MyMobiler.
2. Connect your phone to your pc using active sync. My Mobilers should start and you can control your phone from your pc.
3. Open Finger Keyboard's config screen and at the shortcut tab chose one and rename it (lg for example).
4. Copy the star symbol from your pc into My Mobiler, in the value field of the shortcut.
5. Apply the changes to the finger keyboard, disconnect your phone and try using it.
Shortcuts in finger keyboard are activated by a long press of a button.
Let me know if it works.

This should be relatively easy if the task manager is a standalone application. I dont know if it is because I havent installed it yet. But someone of you who has the new program installed could search his sytem for a exe file that runs the manager. If such an exe exists in the system, all you have to do is to create a shortcut with .lnk extension to that exe file and place the shortcut in the Windows folder and rename it to "long_send.lnk" or "long_end.lnk". After that it should open after long pressing of the send key or end key

It's not working so well for me. Scrolling is unresponsive at times, it's slow to navigate between pages and the 'Rename' option from the 'File' menu doesn't work at all
I'm back to the 2008 version.
A point which nobody seems to have mentioned: This program costs $30! The demo is restricted to 7 days and, like all of their products, the full price isn't even shown on the page :/ You have to add it to the cart to see how much it is.
The competition (ie. Total Commander) is totally free. If you enable large icons in TotalCommander then it's just as finger friendly and also has its own advantages..

How do i select multiple files in WinMo 6.5?

This has being bugging me for some time now
It was very easy in WinMo 6.1 but now dragging with the stylus actually scrolls up and down but does not let me select multiple files
Is there anyway that i can select multiple sequential or random files, of course using the File Explorer
My HTC Touch2 does not have a keyboard with the ctrl key
And i know i can use a 3rd party software but is selecting multiple files really thrown out of a newer version of WinMo?? :S

Thanx a lot my friend
Not to sound rude but I already know about Total Commander and installed it
My question is why Microsoft dumped a VERY VERY important feature in its File Explorer in a NEWER version of it's mobile operating system :S
That kinda sux, doesn't it ?
Hey there,
They havent dumped it just that you have to do it a different way now.
If ur in text messaging for example, click menu, options then select all/several then do what you want. Same kinda thing applies to file exp, email etc.
Remember 6.5 is supposed to be more finger friendly hence selecting this way avoids slips of the finger lol.
You'll get used to it
Cheers.
