Wireless Tether for Root Users Force Close - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I posted this in on the RegawMod thread as well, but I really need to get this fixed..
Anyway, so when I go to use the Wireless Tether for Root Users (using RegawMod's ROM), it force closes on me every time.. I can get into the app, but as soon as I start the tether, it force closes. I tried reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Thanks for the help, much appreciated!!

Yes, USB Debugging is on, Super User is installed and present in my app drawer, however, when I go to run that app, all I get is one line that says
10049:10049 0:0 /system/bin/sh

Is that right or should it be doing something else?
Oh, and when I click on that one line, it just disappears and the screen turns black. I can't do much on it, so I just hit home out to the home screen.

I would try to reflash the rom, sounds like SU is not working right. Either that or reinstall SU and see if that gets it. Maybe you could try this first:
go into settings > Applications find Super User and clear the data.
Then try to WiFI tether again.

Sounds like I would just reflash.

I would personally wipe and reflash for the simple fact that you'd then be flashing onto a clean device...

How can I check to see if I still have root?

Is there a quick way I can check to see if I still have root access? I'm trying to install SetCPU and it says it can't get root access.
I rooted my phone a couple weeks ago and have been running CM6 RC1 since then. Yesterday I flashed the Decad3nce kernel #11 (seemed to go ok) in hopes of overclocking and when I ran SetCPU it cannot get root access. Any quick tips out there?

No problem Sometimes when changing roms, su permission gets lost in translation. Not really something you can control unfortunately, just a rom thing sometimes. Let me know if you need anything else!
If you don't have superuser app, chances are you don't have root

I apologize for my stupidness but as I've never owned an HTC device I'm not 100% sure I understand how this file works. So, do you need to put it into download mode and then run the exe or just enable debugging and then run it?
Definitely thanks. This would presumably break root if we had it.

You'll need to use HTC sync to RUU the phone, sort of like ODIN, except with HTC's software

Its basically your phones stock factory reset if you mess anything up being adventurous and trying to find a perm root. You plug your phone into your computer and run it from your desktop

I assume you mean restoring factory defaults which will wipe user data but it will not restore OS and kernel data whereas this will.

yeah, I think so. You can do a reset through the phone menus or through bootloader. That was the only 2 ways I knew. Will try this as my phone is a little sluggish after I did Zroot and deleted it and did a factory reset.

The only reason to restore stock RUU would be if you borked your phone or were perm rooted and wanted to return the phone to the store.

I received this error with my Heroc.
The way I fixed it was to have the phone at the bootloader when running the RUU. Not sure if that will work with this phone or not but worth a shot..
Restart the phone into bootloader - Power off and Power on while holding vol. down, or type adb reboot bootloader in your CMD prompt.
Once there make sure your phone is plugged in and says Fastboot USB at the top then try running the RUU again.
Let us know if it works.

Help

I was messing around with the root finder and somehow delelted my TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and TouchWiz30Launcher.odex in the system/app folder and now i have a black screen. Any know how to fix this please.....
please dont post a topic in the dev section asking for help, the mods will lock this im sure. i replied to your post in the launcher thread. i need to know more about the state your phone is in before i can point you in the right direction. i see you are rooted. that is good. was debugging enabled before this happened? have you modded 3e recovery so it can run update.zip files?
No I was not in debugging (forgot)
I get a black screen and a task bar, nothing else my buttons dont work.. I can see any apps or anything but black screen, I think I moved or did something to the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and TouchWiz30Launcher.odex
I was hopeing I might be able to get into the system/app files from m y cpu..

you would need to be in debugging mode, have you restarted the phone? if not good! hold the home button for 5 seconds, see if the recent app list pops up. if you have rebooted you need to prey that recovery is adb enabled

this might be a pain. before you do any mods you want a backup plan. im hopefully gonna get you setup with cwm recovery then after it is fixed(if we can do it) you will have a way to restore from the phone. ill be back with links and instructions

well no. andriod doesnt work like that. maybe reinstall packages can restore some things but not likely the launcher. but deleting user data is all you will do with a "factory reset" it is kinda a misnomer. it assumes you didnt delete anything.

[Q] Need help "unrooting" or flashing a stock Rom. Verizon LG G2 vs980

I am kinda in a pickle here. I was rooting my phone using this Chinese .exe application and it had a big check Mark on the screen so I unplugged my phone. Mistake. It turns out that it kinda rooted my phone. No root apps work because the super su app that it downloaded with root was not working. I opened it up and it said I had to update my su binaries or something so I hit continue and it had an error that it couldn't download. I then tried installing titanium backup to try and uninstall it but sense I need super su to give it root, I can't uninstall it because of the super su problem. I tried installing superuser and it didn't work. Now I'm stuck because I can't fully root my phone with other ways which I have no idea why and i can't uninstall the bad super su app because I need it to work for me to be able to do it. I tried flashing my rom again but this stupid error saying I had to have internet to update software kept me from doing that and I DID have full internet access. I am stuck. Why can't their be just some extreme data reset that REALLY resets your phone. My phone still works fine but I have cod and having this problem is killing me, I almost can't even use my phone. PLEASE HELP I REALLY NEED IT!!!!

If you cannot update binaries, that usually means SuperSU cannot access root.
With a root browser (you shouldn't need root to do this though) look in /system/etc/init.d. Look for 99SuperSUDaemon. Also in /system/xbin look for daemonsu and su. Tell me if any of those are missing.
