got my car dock but it seems the package was already opened - Nexus One Accessories

I got my car dock yesterday. When I opened the brwon box I noticed that the google box had a few black marks on it. I neglected it,,may be the box rubbed against brown box during transportation.
When I went ahead and opened the compartment for charger, I saw that the charger bag was already opened.
So what do you think happened here.. just a slip up in QA or did Google ship me a returned item? Dock seems to be working fine but the thought that the dock might not be brand new, bothers me a bit.
Did anyone has had a similiar expereince?
To tell the truth I am torn..do you think it is worth the efforts of calling google and getting a replacement or should I just move on? I am quite confused.

There have been MAJOR problems with DHL employees stealing Nexus Ones (out of one of their main hubs, I want to say in Ohio, but I could be wrong on that). I bet they saw the box and though it was a Nexus One. Opened it up and found no phone, closed it back up, and sent it on it's way.
As long as you have all the parts and stuff, I would just report it to Google so they know and go on your way.

The car dock comes in the same theme of boxing as the Nexus One phone. Boxed in a brown shipping box. FedEx is the only shipping method and requires a signature, right?
The wrapping material on the car dock itself doesn't slide off easily.
Technically your supposed to inspect the package for damage PRIOR to receiving (signing).
Tale tail sign of someone fiddling with the dock would be finger prints, no wrapping material on all included parts (including inside the smaller white box).

I did call google to inform them about this. I have to say that all those who complain about Nexus One support should give google another chance. Google has given me the best customer support every time I called them.
Google told me the same thing. They have been experiencing opened package issue. They didn't mention DHL but said it is FEDEX who is doing it. They have already lodged complaints about this with FEDEX and are looking into it.
They offered me to return this dock and ship out a new one. However, we confirmed with HTC on how they handle returns and they have different centers to handle returned items and new items..so unintentional mix up is impossible. Logically speaking... if htc did want to intentionally slip a refurb as new.. they can repackage it.. they have all the packaging material. So this does seem to be a case of shipping guys opening the package.
For now, I have decided to keep this dock. HTC has noted on my ticket about this situation and in case i start seeing any issues with it and contact them back. My return window has been extended.

Just out of curiousity, was the dock itself completely wrapped up? I remember when I got mine it DEF was sealed up in a unique plastic bag....

well the dock was in it's unique matte finish bag. the bag for charger was opened. The scotch tape on bag was stretched.

Your package went through customs.
Getting your package through there without it being opened would be a miracle.

I am in US and package was shipped from Kentucky, US. Thus, there was no customs check.

almost the post of the year.....he's in USA

Well, he does have an india flag...

yes...that's true.
I was confused myself if I should use US flag or India flag. The forum asks for nationality and not location...so i went ahead with India flag and added location in my signature

Viewsonic at Sears outlet?

Has anyone bought one from their outlet center? Apparently they are customer returns. My question is, are they open box or refurbs?

Yes, people have bought them. And I think they are mostly just returned items. Probably all are good, just people hated the way they work out of the box.
Everytime I see one on the outlet website they are only available for store pickup. Has anyone gotten sears to ship them a "reconditioned" one?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
I have an Outlet device - they are customer returns. As such, they could have scuffs and scratches depending on how the inital owner treated them.
I believe that these are "Closeouts" that you would see in the Clearance area in their Electronics section. As such, you have to pick it up in the store that you bought it from.
I bought mine online, got an email an hour later that it was ready for pickup, and then drove over to get it at Merchandise pickup. Mine was a first run, the previous owner had taken off the screen protector, but it was in good cosmetic shape. The previous owner actually had Androot on it, as well as Launcher Pro!
I've ordered one at sears.com and I haven't got a time to pick it up yet.
What do you mean it's returned items?
I wasn't able to see anything about returned item on the web site.
Please point it for me.
TIA.
Unlike roebeet, I had a pretty horrible experiences with the sears outlet. I to make about 10 phone calls to different departments and different stores. I waited for a week because they kept telling me the item will be "ready" in couple days. They all give me the run around. Even when I confronted them that me calling someone else will not help because I called that number already, they kept repeating what they just said untill I hung up. Half the time they could not find my order even after I gave them my order id, sale check number, my name, address, and phone number.
I kept calling the sears outlet customer service till I got someone useful that actually wanted to help me. I found out the reason that half the the people could not find my order was because they never check the "sears outlet" box when they searched with my order id. Because the last guy who helped said he had no trouble finding my order. He actually called the sears store that i was suppose to pick up the item from for me.
He got hung up twice by the sears store then came back to me and told me he will try again because he wants to get to the bottom of this. It took him 5 more calls to actually get to the manager of the sears store. This took him about hour and half. In the end he found out my order been canceled but nothing was updated and my credit card was still charged. I got my refund back but wasted a lot of time.
I guess the moral of the story is if you do not get a email in one day when the store are open. You should cancel your order to save yourself the trouble. If the sears outlet customer service cannot find your order by the order id ask them if they have sears outlet checked. Because there should be no reason for them to have to ask you sale check number, your name, address, and phone number to find your order.

sears.com (or a regular Sears store) is not a Sears Outlet store which is being discussed here.
Absolutely check your local store in their electronic clearance area....
All returns will go to the floor at a reduced price if it's just a return.
If the item has a problem, it might end up at the Outlet center.
I bought 2... 1 brand new at the black friday price and 1 returned.

When you say black friday price do you mean $379.99? The price on the sears outlet is $279.99. Because I would not buy this product unless its under $300.
This is actually interesting. I work for Sears and I'm in charge of processing high value returns between electronics/hardware. Our Sears Outlet site is simply a database of our 991 items ( clearence ). All sears outlet does is show you what stores in your area have that item at a discounted price, but it does also show what we have in our actual outlet stores as well. The only reason electronics get marked down is because they are last years models, or because they were returned/have physical damage/missing something.
One thing I can tell you for certain is that they are not refurbished. We do not refurbish computers ( or any device that stores personal information ) on a store level ( regular full line store, not a physical outlet center ). If the box has been opened and the customer has used it, it's not to be sold in stores, and frankly, even if it hasn't been opened, it's not to be sold either. It's supposed to be sent to a return center to be properly processed - and no, it will never come back to the store.
I mean, correct me if I'm mistaken but you guys have picked up these tablets at a discount at a regular store? They would absolutely not go back on the salesfloor at my store.
I'm not trying to spill secrets here, but it's a heads up for you guys. Frankly I'd love to know what stores are doing it, if I'm following this correctly. This is not only wrong for the previous owners but wrong for the second buyers. Which is why it's against policy. And like Roebeet said - how those programs were left on it - means it was blatantly processed incorrectly. This actually bothers me quite a bit...
I ordered a second gtab from Sears outlet @ 279. Picked it up at the Scranton pa store still I'm the shrink wrap. Looked unopened to me and not a fingerprint to be seen. The lady said it came from a pile in the back...? So I'm pretty sure I got a brand new gtab for 279.
This thread has probably ruined our chances of ever getting another G-tab for $279.

Wait until after 12/25....
Just last night I found them online in the "Outlet". I was going to place order but I fell asleep studying. This morning, I wake up to place the order and...they are no longer showing up on the outlet website! Like at all! Do disappointed. I guess now I am stuck with the 101 as it was in my price range, but 2.2 runs like crap on it, so I read, and it will probably never see 2.3 or 3.0.
I hope searsoutlet is only sold out of them. I have been looking on the site everyday for about a week and nothing...
Anybody else know where to get them for this cheap?

Thanks for the tip.

Just purchased a G Tablet...OH NO!!!

Hey all. Well with all my reading on the forums and all the hard work the developers have been doing for this tab, I made up my mind to get this tab instead of the Archos 101. So here's my story:
I went to Sears and saw the G Tablet sitting all alone on a shelf with the security wires around it so that it cannot be opened. I thought that they were selling fast so I grabbed it and paid for it.
I drove back to work and pulled it out of the bag. I reached for a scissors/blade to open the box, but I found that there were no security labels on the box. That was weird. I say so because according to Sears if you return it in an openned condition, theres a 15% restocking fee. I thought they would have made sure that it was seald.
Anyways, I open the box and take a look around the black foam that cushions the tab in the box, and what do I see? CAT HAIR!!!! I thought, how could this be? This is supose to be a NEW tablet. I begin to carefully pull the tablet out of the cover and discover that it is covered in finger prints (5+ fingerprints). WHAT!!!!! I quickly placed it back in its cover so that I do not touch the screen at all. I lift the tab in its cover out of the box and notice an empty zip lock at the bottom of the box where the accessories are. Why is it empty????????? Also, the contents that were suppose to be in it are laying next to it OUTSIDE OF THE BAG!!
I immediatley thought, 'Did Sears just sell me a USED device at full price'? I called Sears and told them I have reason to believe the tablet was used and that I'm bringing it back.
Do you guys think I should bring it back, or should I just suck it up and keep it. Also, has this ever happened to you?
Thanks,
Scott
When I got mine the whole box was sealed.
Hi,
If it were me, I'd definitely take it back and get it replaced with a new one.

I would take it back to the store. With a little persistence, you can probably walk away only paying the refurb price as seen on their outlet site. I have heard others doing the same with other products.
I would test the tablet first and make sure it it working. then, You should talk with the store manager and try to get a discount like 20%, if not, then return it with no restocking fee.
I bought mine on Saturday for $349 and I asked the sales, she said that during the holiday weeks, there will NOT be a restocking fee as long as I return it with the orginial box, etc.
Ask for a discount or return it with full refund.
Same here, mine came in shrink wrap.
If you think you got taken, take it back.
However, if it works (big if... be sure about this one), and you like it... what the hey, try talking to the manager.
Thanks for the info and suggestions everyone. Im going to take it back in a few hours right after work. I honestly dont even want it for a discount price. I just want a brand new sealed one. I will post the status of my return once it has been accomplished.
Thanks again,
Scott
We have two G-Tabs; a brand-new one I got for full-price for my wife, and a "refurb" which was really just a returned G-Tab that I got for $279. The used G-Tab functionally is exactly the same with the same warranty, etc except the person who had it before me had flashed an early TnT onto it (and even returned it that way; I had access to all kinds of sites, etc that he forgot to wipe from cache/data. I obviously didn't take advantage of that and erased it completely).
My point is that if the cost doesn't matter to you, I'd exchange it for a new one. Otherwise, you can always get a nice case or some other accessories for it with money you'd get back by taking the "refurb" price. There is not a single difference between my machine and my wife's after nearly a month of use; you can't really tell the difference between the two (unless you know our wallpapers).

Good idea. Im gonna power it on right now and test it as much as possible to see if everything works. If its ok and I get the same warranty, I'll try and talk Sears down. If not, then its a new one. I'll be leaving work in 30 minutes and Sears is just down the road, so I should be reporting back about the swap by 5.
Thanks,
Scott
I wouldn't even bother investing time into it, immediate return for me.
Cat hair? Fingerprints? Not new, not what I paid for.
So Im at Sears now and I just returned the item. Funniest thing, the guy asked me what was wrong and I told him. So he said no problem we will exchange it. Then he punched some buttons and here comes a yellow "clearance" sticker that he just slaps on it for $279. Go figure.
Scott
If it has the power supply/charger and USB cable, I would buy it for $279. the manuals consist of some papers that point you to the WEB.
then when you get it home, go to the DEV page here and download clockwork mod and for me Cyanogenmod and make it sing.
Wow my day gets better and better. So I'm waiting for the new tab and they tell me they have 20 in stock but they can't find it. So they give me a full refund and send me to another store. I asked if I can buy the one I just returned and he said no. It's already processed to go to the warehouse. Again, go figure lol

Wait so they have a unit you returned, slapped a 249 sticker on it and they will not sell it to you?
I would talk to a manager, if that is the one you want. That is not customer service.
I didnt even bother. The guy seemed quite miserable too. Well I'm at another Sears location now and they handed me the item. Guess what, its shrink wrapped. Looks like I got a brand new one. Gonna get home and hack the mess out of this thing lol.
Thanks
Scott
Congrats, the main thing is that you are happy with the purchase.
This happens all the time, unfortunately. And not just at SEARS.
The only thing they screwed up on is not cleaning the darn thing before putting it back on the shelves. If you're going to break your own store rules, at least do it well.
As for a "refurb", the device I have now was a clearance / closeout item - had a lot of fingerprints and the previous owner rooted it. But, for $215 with tax I could live with a used item. On occasion the Outlet will have a GTab at $200 or less - most of the time it's $279.
Stories like these and others are the reasons I don't shop at Sears anymore. After I'd long since stopped shopping there, my wife bought a lawnmower from our local Sears. It had a gas leak. About 1/4 of the way through my lawn it ran out of gas and I learned it was leaking it all over my lawn.
The store insisted since I used it I couldn't return it. They said they would have to "fix it" for me. After the manager raised his voice to me I flipped the receipt over, read the line that states "if you are not completely satisfied at any time return the items for a full refund." I said "I'm not satisfied. Do I need to explain that to corporate?". He jerked the receipt out of my hands and started pounded the refund into the register without saying another word.
My previous experiences with Sears were similar. Same problem with Western Auto which at the time was owned by Sears. I finally got a hint and stopped shopping at there or any of their subsidiaries like K-Mart (which has another whole string of horror stories regarding misleading pricing I could discuss.)
My G tablet is on it's way from Staples right now. I think Santa may hang onto it though.

Samsung Genuine Accessory Hell

Let this be a lesson to anyone before buying new or used accessories off of ebay.
I recently purchased a dock off of ebay and figured that i would share my experience. I have been buying and selling for years on ebay. This time I got bit.
I bought a dock and received it in the mail for my fascinate. The dock was actually the correct dock as well. I have one already at home and bought one for the office. As well the seller said it was covered by Samsung warranty for 1 full year.
I tear open the package, set up the dock, and go to plug my phone in and it will not. After inspecting around with the dock i realize the USB port is loose so the phone will not slide right in as it does on my other dock. and the phone actually sits off the dock slightly.
So it had the "1 year warranty from Samsung" Call up support and the tell my i need the hex number. Pull the hex number out of the phone and the guy tells me i need to power down the phone and get it from behind the battery. Ok. Fine. Hang up. pull the battery, and guess what same exact Hex number except in the phone software it shows an 0x preceding the rest of the number. I laughed and get back on the phone.
Now my experience gets fun... I speak to a rep almost immediately. she gets my hex number to validate i own the phone. Then puts me on hold says they will gladly replace the dock, but I need a receipt and Google payment will not be covered as an acceptable receipt. Ask to speak to a manager. Get put on hold for 25mins (most would hang up by now) Then a American speaking person picks up. He identifies himself as management.
He continues to explain that the policy for samsung states clearly any product must have a receipt to replace. He used the phrase "I must articulate that Samsung return policy states..." about 30 times. I then said you are telling me you do no honor your product. he said we do with a receipt. Back and forth several times, got no where. Ended up hanging up on him.
Moral of the story, if you buy off of ebay, your samsung warranty will not be covered for accessories.
I am highly irritated and amazed they would not honor their own product brand new out of a box because no receipt was with it.
Outcome: Even though the seller does not accept returns, I opened a case with ebay after he did not respond, and he is taking this one back and refunding me my money. So in the end it all worked out.
Honestly, I'm not surprised. With the amount of knock-off electronics products coming out of China, what's to keep people from getting an "OEM" dock off ebay that doesn't work, and getting it replaced with a genuine OEM dock via the warranty, costing Samsung thousands. By requiring a receipt, they can at least go back on the retail outlet you bought it from if they find that it isn't actually a genuine dock, but that's kind of hard to do with ebay.
Also, why didn't you contact the ebay seller about getting it replaced? That is the first thing I would have done, and if they wouldn't do anything, contact Samsung, and last option is dispute it via Paypal.
Yeah i have already contacted the seller and am waiting for a response. If i do not hear back by Friday i will open a dispute with ebay and paypal. His selling page clearly was false advertisement. But oh well it is always a chance you take when buying products off ebay. I am just glad i got it reasonably below retail cost.
Sucks to hear about your negative experience. You should always be careful in ebay and verify feedback and wording in the advertisement.
BTW American is not a language.

My eBay experience (techno.trading.house)

Hi everyone,
I want to share my journey with the Z3, and the experience with buying from eBay, specifically from a seller, techno.trading.house (Steph, Ed). I bought two brand new Z3 (D6603)--a black one for myself, and a white one for my girlfriend. The order was smooth, and the phones came in pretty much brand new (open box though) with their plastic peel-screens on the glass, untouched. After using the two for a few hours, I noticed that my black one had a defective sensor (photo). The seller advertised "hassle-free" exchanges/refunds, so I reported the defect and had the black one exchanged right away.
After a week, the new one came, the same brand new (open box) condition as the previous phones. However, there was a slight manufacturing defect with the USB flap--it closes completely at a slant (photo). I spelled out the issue with the seller, and here was how it went:
SELLER: I'm sorry to hear that! We will certainly replace it for you, I believe that your phone would be damaged underwater if that or any other flap was not closed properly. (I also do strongly suggest to avoid wetting the phone just in case). Please return the phone to...
ME (after 2 days delivered to them): Hi, have you receive the package yet, and have you ship out the new phone?
SELLER: Your return has been received. If you had chosen to receive a replacement, it will be sent within 2 days. If you have opted for a refund, it will be issued within 24 hours minus applicable restocking fee.
ME: Do you have tracking info? Thanks!
SELLER: Our records indicate that we have already sent a replacement. You have reached out to us to let us know that the replacement has the same issue. In order to avoid another occurrence, we recommend that we proceed with a refund for this item. Please let us know if this is okay.
ME: Sorry, I am not sure what you are saying. Are you talking about the previous replacement or the 2nd replacement being shipped out? I am currently waiting for the 2nd replacement. You said "sure" on the second replacement last week.
SELLER: We are talking about the previous replacement. We believe since both- the original phone and the replacement phone- has had the same issue, that a refund might be best. Let us know if this is ok.
ME: That is not correct. First phone had a defective camera. Second one had a manufacturer defect on the flap. You agreed for the second exchange, so I am not sure why you are backing out now? I need the phone as I have been using an old dumb phone for work for a week already.
SELLER: I'm very sorry for the confusion. I just read back through the emails and you are indeed correct. We will have your replacement unit shipped today. Here is your tracking number. Again, I am sorry for the confusion. Have a great day!
ME: Thanks. I just hope the new one does not have any defect--I will be checking it. If it's not shipped out yet, anyway you can inspect these? Thank you.
SELLER: Hello, Not a problem.

So the 2nd replacement came (third phone), and the phone came in a used/open condition. There were no plastic peel-screens on either side of the glass and the USB wire was laying in there without its plastic wrappers. I knew immediately this was used, so I began close inspection of the phone. I found that the power button had a noticeable dent on one side, as if it was dropped on a table before. At this point, I don't know what to do with the phone. I have summoned the seller to see what they plan to do with this situation.
It appears that the seller recycles their returned phones and try to sell them as new, or whatever it is. I am extremely disappointed with this seller, and I want others to know so they may not fall into the same trap.
I checked the current feedback, and it appears someone had the same situation (photo). Go figure!
To me this sounds like a fair seller and a picky buyer. 832 positive reviews and 6 negative ones in a month is a ratio I would buy at if I wanted to save a hundred bucks by buying without factory warranty.
It could have been an honest mistake. I doubt he purposely gave you an opened one, just work with him to solve the problem. eBay is much harder on sellers than buyers and he would ruin his reputation if he did it on purpose. Looking at his rating I would say it was an honest mistake.
I understand if he wants to refund you, he is just trying to cut his losses. At the same time it was your misfortune to get a bad device/s. Since this phone is known for cosmetic/other issues as its in early production you are better of buying from Sony/carrier making replacement easier.

I'm sorry to hear that. It was really a frustrating moment you went through. If I were you I would probably be really angry.
If you want, just buy it from Sony store. I got mine and it's perfect so far (except some cosmetic minor faults).
I bought two phones directly from the same seller. The price was cheaper on their own site vs eBay or Amazon. Both phones are perfect. They came in non sealed boxes. I've got no complaints.

I may be a picky buyer, but who wouldn't be when you receive a defective product, and even worse when you get a used one on your third one. Feedbacks mean jack when you are on the short end. They are only good for initial decision about the seller, hence I trust them like you would too.

Yeah, I really regret not buying from Sony store, or even T-Mobile here. At this point, I might just say screw it, keep the phone, and move on with my life. Maybe the Z4 will entice me in few months. :good:
I purchased 3 different Z3 D6603 from Techno Trading, Never-MSRP, and Sony Direct all off ebay.
Techno Trading shipping a Central America version of the D6603 (White) to me and it had no seals whatsoever on the box (US Charger). This model would not show LTE indicator until I flashed a generic TFT. Booting with Encryption shows the Pin Entry text in Spanish but quickly changes to English. Seller Feedack: Shipped very quickly but using subpar shipping materials. Shipped from Miami.
Never-MSRP shipped a Central Europe version of the D6603 (Copper) to me and it HAD seals on the box but also included a Sony Screen Protector (Non-US Charger). This model had the LTE indicator from start. Booting with Encryption shows the Pin Entry text in English. Seller Feedback: Shipped same day and was packaged very well. Unfortunately, they are located in Houston so I had to pay tax.
Sony Direct shipped a Generic North American model of the D6603 (Green) to me. This one had seals on the box but didn't include the Screen Protector. LTE shows from start and includes a US Charger. Plastic on the front and back of phone is totally different than the other two. Its hard to describe but the other phones came with a very very thin plastic protector. This model shipped with much thicker protectors on front and back (still meant to be removed because they have tabs on the side). Additionally, the other two phones were inside a cellophane bag but the this model was not in cellophane. Shipped from Sony in Romeoville IL. Shipped within two hours of purchase using FedEx for free. Unfortunately, Sony charges tax everywhere. Packaged well but not great.
My point...
Sony packages models different based on their intended destination. It might not be that you ever got "open box" devices but rather they were intended for an area which Sony (for whatever reason) chose not to use seals.

That is interesting. Before buying from techno, I bought a white one from tropical_mobile (in which I sold quickly due to being D6653), who stated they were located in Tennessee, but shipped from Singapore. However, the phone was sealed with two white rounded "sealed" stickers on the box. The phone also was sealed in a clear plastic slip and had protective screens on both sides.
This whole Z3 deal has been pretty bad luck for me. Maybe it is not meant to be. But good news--the seller techno.trading.house got back to me, and is willing to refund me $20 for the dented power button, or do another replacement. I'm planning to take the refund, and live with it as I am sick of all the exchanges. Who knows, the replacement might have even weirder issues.
If you spend $500 plus on an item, you the buyer, have every right on this planet to be as picky as you like.
Nobody has to settle for anything less than perfection.
So no, you don't have to accept a defective camera, or flap or indeed a previously returned phone.
As I mentioned before but was lambasted in another thread, Sony may be using premium materials, but they are certainly not using premium construction. Not when some people have to go through six boxes in store to find a unit without light bleed and gaps.
I myself had two exchanges within the first two weeks. My first unit was simply not waterproof and had a leaky flap and my second one didn't charge on the magnetic dock and now I have light bleed but no energy to fight it anymore.
It's almost as bad as an iPhone. All my iPhone friends have had multiple exchanges... Some as many as 5 in a year.

More recent feedbacks to prove my point.
stop accepting being called a picky buyer.... ur paying top dollar for the phone, that said u should receive a product good for the purpose, if the camera doesn't work its not good
if the phone isnt water proof it isnt good
if there is a dent in the design it should state it before being bought. so it's not the buyer nor seller (purposely) its a unlucky sale.
I purchased mine at t-mobile. I paid 100% upfront despite being with t-mobile and they unlock it on the spot. When I registered with Xperia Care (sonymobiles product registration) I entered my IMEI and it has till Oct 2016 on warranty.
However on the 2nd day of owning the device The bottom speaker stopped working and was making a static noise. I went to my t-mo store I purchased it and they swapped it out. I didn't even pay a restocking fee. The manager said as long as I get the same phone and since I bought it back so promptly that he would just swap a new one. This one has been perfect since. Sometimes the convenience of having a store near by is better than having to deal with shipping my phone back and forth!
Alot of people dont want the tmobile Bloatwear but like I said, 32 GB + Local customer support outweight > No bloatwear & 16 Gig with mail in issues. (since i have no sony store near by, id still have to mail in for repairs and exchanges)
Me too, I'm glad I bought it from TMO with an EIP, exchanged mine 3 times on my 4th now, no hassles or fees.

Ice Dot View Case Hinge tearing?

Hi all,
I have an official HTC Dot view case for my M9, the ICE version (with the transparent back) but I have found that just after a month of normal use, the hinge is starting to tear from the inside, just where it is connected to the hard transparent back.
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.
I'm going to try and get a replacement from the store as I am surprised at the quality issue with this one, just hope it's a one off.
I've never had this issue with my m8 Dot View case.
Same exact thing happened to me, in about 2 weeks. I went to the Verizon store where I bought it, and they offer 14 day returns, and my entire front flap ripped off at 15 days.
I even reached out to HTC, and they said that you have to get warranty thru the store you bought it at. Needless to say, I'm really ****ing pissed, and only saw this post when I came here to find a new case. It just really pisses me off that I got roped into the m9 due to the dotview case, and it ****ing fell apart in 2 weeks. Nice flagship case for your flagship phone, HTC. Ya jerks.

Luckily I bought mine at best buy, I couldn't get my money back because they have the 15 day policy, but I was able to get store credit and switched to the otterbox. My ice case tore right at the 30 day mark.
That doesn't seem right, HTC should have a standard product warranty. They are willing to give another device through uh-oh protection, but not a case? That's a noodle scratcher if I've ever heard one.
Another ripped case here, after a month of use, contacted HTC, they said to go to the supplier, even though i purchased the case through the HTC Website... It's a bit of a joke and then the online chat rep eventually told me to try contact expansy's which doesn't make any sense either. Ordered a new spiegen slim case anyway now but still trying to claim my compensation back
I had a lengthy discussion with htc support and they basically told me to contact the retailer.
When I told them they are responsible for warranty claims, they basically told me they can't fulfil their own warranty policy.
Really its a joke, if I had the time and energy I would take them to court, as this is clearly illegal.

Same thing is happening to mine! Found this topic through a search. Really disappointed but haven't reached out to anyone yet. Bottom of hinge barely on now. Really wanted this case and it's such a let down.
Does anyone know if that can happen with the first version of the dot view case for the m9?
Carphone warehouse is sending out a replacement to me.. I'll keep an eye out if it happens again.. Haven't received it yet..

I wonder if I should not buy a clone then, I thought the main advantage of the original cover is the durability...

Anything is better than the original, poorly maid, probably to have consumers buy multiple cases to help HTC make up for quarterly revenue
I just noticed that HTC did 2 different Dot View cases for the M9, the Ice which is transparent back and the normal one which is like the M8 Dot view.
Do you think only the Ice version has problems?
What do you think about this case? http://www.amazon.com/case-Rock-Ult...p/B00VND5HQK/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

The only thing I can say is the grey backed one is the one I had on the m8, never had an issue with it.
My gut feeling would be it only effects the ice cases, which is doubly irritating as that is supposed to be the more premium one...
Just had a look and mine is doing the same
@p50kombi did you just go in store or call them?

Don't ask mate...
I went to the store first, but they are just a bunch of idiots..
I thin kI told you before I had a run in at the store before, this time was no different.
They told me they couldn't do anything about it in store and I should call HTC.
I can post the log from my conversation with HTC, they basically said they can't fulfil their own warranty policy and I should go back to CPW..
I really didn't want to go back to the store and waist another hour of my life debating with the knobs there, so decided to call CPW instead.
The woman on the phone sorted it out for me after me explaining my road towards my call with her...
Best bet would be to call them.
Maybe mention there seems to be a real issue with this case and maybe they can push HTC from their side to do something about it....
Man, it makes my head hurt already knowing that I probably will be doing the same after another months worth of use, as the new dot view case shows hairline cracks in the rubber already....
Yeah distinct lack of effort on cases this time, 3 **** colours and low quality imho, bottom of my case is not nicely drilled and has tiny bits of discoloured rubber where it hasn't been done properly.

that's because the "htc accessories website" is operated by expansys. i don't even know if that's the real official website.
the same happened to mine ICE case, i am still waiting for reply from expansys.
Ok went to the store (same store I actually had my online delivery that gave me it 4 days early - so pretty chill / clueless guys but regardless awesome because of it.
They weren't sure on the warranty policy so put me through to customers services. Without evening asking for name/number they told me the warranty was 6 months (which I actually believe is incorrect but serves purpose) and that the store should be able to replace it.
I had the nice lady repeat this for an employee. Boom, job jobbed.
Actually quite obvious on the tearing when the phone is out of the case.
Confirmation from "head office" was all they needed which I assume they meant customer services.
Would encourage everyone to do this to be honest, although a fan of HTC, they should not get away with low quality "premium" accessories and if this has an inherent fault then it needs to be sorted out.
Don't be afraid and if needed point them to this thread, might even start getting this talked on Elevate as I am disappointed in the variety of cases this year and miss my Orange M8

I already posted this on elevate, not really a great deal of response there, just a few others who have similar issues but no response from HTC...
Interesting fact to add is the HTC warranty team I spoke to over the phone had no idea what HTC elevate is...
expansys will also change my case. they say that the first series had a problem that is now solved. will see in a month i guess.

Well I don't believe that for a start
Secondly, no reason to be believe this isn't going to happen to my second case, can already see a gap.
Thirdly, nice of HTC to mention it :s
