Hey guys have you ever clicked on a .mp4 or .m4v (iPhone video/website) link on opera mobile or IE and notice that it starts to download!?
well how do I make it so it will stream the video with Coreplayer instead of downloading the file?
it seem like a very common thing that the iPhone and Android do but not WINDOWS MOBILE!?
so any toughts will be highly apriciated, maybe editing the opera registry or so somethig??

Im in the same boat your in and nobody has an answer...i hate downloading it should stream like tyhe other phones do....somebody help!!!!
It's not that hard; what you need to do is look in your PIE cache for the file that starts the stream up. If you use the streams at TodayPda.com, for instance, you will find .asx files dumped for each stream you used. Just copy them to a folder on your sd card, then go to the file associations tabs in tcpmp's settings and check the box for metafiles. Then, you can open the stream up in tcpmp by clicking on the .asx file. If you go to shoutcast, a file called "tunein-station.pls" is dumped (I think in PIE it may ask if you want it downloaded, otherwise it's in the cache). You need to copy it and rename it (as all stations use the same file name). As long as .pls files are associated with tcpmp, then clicking on these files will open up tcpmp.
If you're talking about links that just download the entire video, you seriously have a problem with that? I'd call that a bonus, myself. The files usually download faster than they stream, and the video quality is better and you can watch them offline as much as you want. A lot of the 'streaming' vids that you see aren't really streaming, anyway. Somewhere on your device, a temporary file is being dumped and once the dump start, you start to view it. If you watch youtube videos over PIE, that's how it works. When the video is fully loaded, you can go to \windows\temp, and there will be a .tmp file that is the actual video.

I have SEARCHED months for Tv series to movies, something like south park family guy, House, law&order to many more. Some complete series other movies Ready for WVGA devices and more newer type off phones.
All together comes to thousands of GB worth of media. so NO! CRAPPY 3gp quality as there are many website already like that so its most in https mp4 not rtsp.
anyways I'm still thinking about it as everything should be Ondemand and FREE! ( with some ads )
I was thinking something like:

I purchased a NAS recently and have set about storing all my data. Also included in the upgrade were a new N router and N card for the laptop. The N stuff runs at 270Mbps which means I can now stream DVD/HD content onto my laptop (and a HD tele when I get one!). Anyways, I also convert DVDs to WMVs for my PDA, sad I know but I do it and use it.
So eventually I thought about about this; can I install a DVD player on my pda so I can stream it over my wifi network. I've looked all over the web and found nothing. Is there anyone out there with the same idea or least got a name of some DVD software for my PDA?

Oh by the way, so far I must have at least 20-30 apps on my PDA and each one of them has been free, I would very much like to keep this record spotless!

windows media encoder can help you with the actual streaming, try it (should be free of charge).
now you need to think of something that will help encode your dvd into the media encoder, live of course.
will be happy to hear about the final solution you've found.

Ok, so downloaded media player encoder, very confused but ran checkup utility and I do not have an appropriate dvd player on my laptop. My intervideo one started playing up so had to remove it. Now using AVSDVDPlayer. Moved on to VLC media player, thanks vlodeck for suggestion. Firslty the playback is much better than the AVSDVDPlayer, I struggled to broadcast a stream but I think I could sort it over time. I'll push on with that.
Still, I'm not quite sure these are the routes I want to take. I upgraded my PDA to wm6 recently and found I could no longer play my wmv's in TCPMP. After scouring through this forum I found all I needed to do was download these two DLL's and drop them into my windows folder on the PDA. Something to do with renaming codecs in wm6. I was hoping I could do this again, say download DVD codecs and drop them in the windows dir, then hoping to go to "open" and then be able to select a VOB file from either TCPMP or windowsmediaplayer.
The VLC method seems like I need to interact or at least save files that I wish to broadcast when really, I would just like to access VOB files on my NAS via the PDA with a vob player.
Any help and suggestions are more than welcome, either with what has been suggested already or new ones!

got the vlc player to broadcast so I can view the strem on my pc on wmp. the next problem i encounterd was on my ppc. used the same url on ppc wmp as pc one and no joy

A lot of movies are coming out with digital copies & they are all in WMV format but our players don't support it.
I tried searching but all I found was the plugin for TCPMP, which didn't work too well. Anyway I would like to know if there is a plugin for WMP on our phones? I have a few of these digital copies & I would like to put them on my storage card for those boring days at work. If anyone has a plugin or a solution, I would really appreciate it.
Where are the movies?? Anyways, CorePlayer should play them, about $25 directly from CoreCodec, which should be cheap for you judging by your avatar !
What are you talking about? Windows Media Player plays WMV files. it's already on your phone.

Talking about certain codecs not included in WMP, so you need a different player. Most videos can't be played through WMP.

As far as the movies... I have Juno & AVPr right now but a lot of movies come with an extra disc right now that you can download it from... Look for it on the cover, it says digital copy right on it

Cool, I have to check out my friend's DVD collection . Anyways, CorePlayer does all the main functions of TCPMP, but a bit better, and I personally like the looks of it better. It has the YouTube function built-in, but currently you have a limited number of results, so if your looking for a specific video, you must type a lot. I use CorePlayer as my main video player, and still keep TCPMP with the FLV bundle to watch video directly from the web.

WACK!!! Same thing as tcpmp... Granted, it looks better but its the same outcome. The video will start but it won't play. It starts loading & then it stays like that forever. Occassionally it plays a clip of the sound but only a fraction of a second

Is it possible, even when flash is released, that we would be able to stream live media like that of mlb.tv? Is it possible to stream the gameday audio with the current makeup with the phone, has anyone tried yet? I really really hope mlb embraces android and puts something out there for us fans.
I am not sure if the graphics card of the g1 will be able to handle sporting events streams but radio stream probably wouldn't be an issue. Plusmo and a few other companies make great programs for keeping track of the scores and plays.

It's got no trouble showing movies stored on the SD card, so I'd imagine that streaming video should work ok too, so long as the data stream can keep up.
Yeah thats what I am not sure of is the data stream, Movies the system can prepare for what is coming next because it is saved in a file that never changes streaming video of live TV is a little different it really depends on how good the graphic card is and how well it can process the info as it is downloaded which from what I remeber the graphics card in the g1 isnt the greatest.
My guess is that when flash is here, most of all that will be possible, best over 3G/wifi of course, but there's no reason it wouldn't be possible. I wouldn't be surprised if there's TV apps in the making right now for Android.
How does the youtube client work, is the entire clip downloaded first?
I would guess the phone just caches a little, then starts streaming, and it sure works great for me.

That's a Microsoft WMV file.. it's unlikely to ever work unless Microsoft make a player for Android (I couldn't even get that stream to work under OSX with the microsoft supplied player.. probably DRM protected or something).
Android does H264 which is good enough for streaming (I expect that's what the youtube player is using). Now if someone could persuade the BBC iplayer to send its h264 streams to the G1 rather than trying to invoke flash...

I wasn't aware of that - I use Ubuntu Linux and watch this stream via my VLC player and it works great - guess the VLC player uses some fancy codec or something, I don't know. i just assumed that since it worked on my Linux desktop it might work on Android given the correct application - a bit naïve, I know...

The other day I downloaded nswPlayer, in the video section it has an 'enter URL' field but I'm not sure whether it means it can stream remote videos - probably not.
Are there any other Android players that would play H264 streams?

No idea how VLC does it, unless you've got the x86 codecs loaded from mplayer (which are just copies of the Windows ones).
I expect the browser can be persuaded to stream h264.. it's just Webkit after all.

This only allows you to control VLC on your PC, won't allow you to play anything on the phone.
Zune will convert 99% of the media it can't natively play and it will do it pretty quickly and with very good quality. At some point in the future we will most likely be able to copy/past files onto the device and use 3rd party video software.

every video I have on my computer has played on my hd7. These are mainly .avi files (downloaded tv shows and movies from graboid).

youTube files .flv files, I suppose can't, as I usually download the YouTube videos with iFunia YouTube Converter and then it convert the flv files automaticly for me.
There are 2 players that normally can play many file type.
VLC player and Gomplayer, VLC is free~

No dice as of now. Not possible without usb mass storage support, how else would you copy&paste the files over? The Zune software will only sync files it supports.
I'd say convert your .flv files to a common video format that every device can use, like .avi or .mp4 to name a few. I do it for my music videos downloaded from youtube. Those file formats should copy over easily. If not, zune will convert them effortlessly.

Nope I wish there was though. I travel a lot and take that time to watch movies and tv shows on my phone. I still have to carry around my TP2 while I travel now to enjoy my media. I completely agree that the days of conversion should be over now. I used to laugh at other devices that couldn't play xvid natively and now I'm in that boat .
I really hope this feature emerges either natively or through a 3rd party eventually.
this is why 3 people I know of traded back to android again. they thought they could just ftp over a movie fike (like on ios) and play it on the phone.
one of them actually said "so my phone.... can't. share a file..... with other PHONES?"
then the other guys shook their heads and continued moving music around between themslves. no computers, no chords, and no transcoding.
the one guy bought a galaxy tab along with a thunderbolt, and tried to craigslist his samsung.
all because there is no fole support. wow.

After reading your post I decided to tinker a bit and found a semi-convenient workaround.
I tested downloading video releases for the iTouch and found that if I transfer them using the USB Device Enabler into the Storage\Video folder on my device choosing 'Don't convert just copy' when you transfer the video, then it shows up and plays back fine on the phone.
Obviously it would be ideal if i could playback any codec but for now this will do.
I've got the LG G2x. I reckon the battery won't sustain watching a movie or tv show. But I'm game to try!
I see that I can rent movies from Android App Market but unless i am mistaken these are streaming. I travel often for business and would like to watch a movie or tv show on the plane without paying for wifi on the plane. Plus it is not available on all flights.
So how can I download content to the Android phone and watch it not streaming?
I've researched some and most threads talk about pirating and converting, etc. I'm looking for legal and easy.

Well you can still purchase dvd's...either standard or blu-ray and rip the movie onto your computer as a backup, and it's 100% legal. Then you can buy a program that will convert the file into a more compressed format...again, legal. Then you can purchase a large sdmicro card to put the file onto your phone. Then you can find an app on market that plays the file format you have converted to.
All of this would be legal. Now the specifics on HOW to do it, are a bit more complicated, and you would really be better served doing some research on forums dedicated to video converting.
Personally, I use a program called AnyDVDHD for the ripping part. Then I use Pavtube for the converting part...I like it because it lets me specifically choose container type, audio bitrate, video bitrate, etc...it's more customizeable than others that I've tried. As far as playing the converted video on the phone, I use Moboplayer or Arcmedia, depending on the file.

Opera Mini will download streaming videos. You can go to youtube and search for free movies, they got some good ones such as "They Live" and the last one I just watched "Sex & Consequences", or just go to any other site that streams video and you can download it using Opera Mini browser to watch at your convenience. Simple...
EDIT: in order to download from youtube you need to change to desktop view. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the site from within opera mini then choose desktop.
Handbrake for the win! Pop in a DVD, select the output method hit start, 30 mins later your dvd has been ripped to you desired video format, best of all it is totally free for both Mac and PC
I ripped some of my favorite movies from my DVD collection into AVI..bought an 8GB Class 10 Micro SD card = total of 16GB... and transfered 10 movies into there... if I get bored I just delete and put another movie in there...
