WMV plugin for WMP - General Topics

A lot of movies are coming out with digital copies & they are all in WMV format but our players don't support it.
I tried searching but all I found was the plugin for TCPMP, which didn't work too well. Anyway I would like to know if there is a plugin for WMP on our phones? I have a few of these digital copies & I would like to put them on my storage card for those boring days at work. If anyone has a plugin or a solution, I would really appreciate it.

Where are the movies?? Anyways, CorePlayer should play them, about $25 directly from CoreCodec, which should be cheap for you judging by your avatar !

What are you talking about? Windows Media Player plays WMV files. it's already on your phone.

Talking about certain codecs not included in WMP, so you need a different player. Most videos can't be played through WMP.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to not have to buy anything new but you gotta do what you gotta do. Anyway, a new question... if I buy this coreplayer will it do everything tcpmp does or do I have to keep tcpmp on my Kaiser?
As far as the movies... I have Juno & AVPr right now but a lot of movies come with an extra disc right now that you can download it from... Look for it on the cover, it says digital copy right on it

Cool, I have to check out my friend's DVD collection . Anyways, CorePlayer does all the main functions of TCPMP, but a bit better, and I personally like the looks of it better. It has the YouTube function built-in, but currently you have a limited number of results, so if your looking for a specific video, you must type a lot. I use CorePlayer as my main video player, and still keep TCPMP with the FLV bundle to watch video directly from the web.

Sweet I been reading up on it since you suggested it & I'm sold on it now. Thanks I hope it plays these movies. I'll let you know as soon as I got it all set up

WACK!!! Same thing as tcpmp... Granted, it looks better but its the same outcome. The video will start but it won't play. It starts loading & then it stays like that forever. Occassionally it plays a clip of the sound but only a fraction of a second
Any tips for the settings to change Champ?

And for starters; get a decent player first... WMP is great for music, but horrible for Video... I'd recommend CorePlayer. And then code your movies to DIVX like already suggested
Absolutely!!! Good catch Moaske
I love CorePlayer 1.2.5, makes a huge difference on my TyTN II!
If you dont want to go the paying money route (or the piracy route) the Core Player guys also have a more stripped down and less optimized but free player called TCPMP, look out for that
Magic Video Converter 8 is what i use, converts anything to anything just about. Even converts to Flash Video!
yeah im looking for a high quality app, used pocket divx encoder, it was ok, and spb mobile dvd, and thats ok, but can't up the settings to increase the quality as much as id like to.
currently for vid files i sometimes don't convert and throw the whole file on there
I cant get the TCPMP to work on my phone...

Kinoma play

has anyone actually used the kinoma play program on their phone there is an add for it here just wondering what others think of it
Yeah, i've tried Kinoma Play.
Good-looking player. But cant play movies.
U have to buy the pro version...
Plays almost anything.
I'm not sure what he's talking about it not playing movies. The only mobile format that I've had trouble with is AVI. I don't really undersatnd why it doesn't play it, but it doesn't. So I dl'd pocket Divx for those.
I use Kinoma for almost all of my YouTube watching, music listening, and picture viewing. I have an Audible account, so I use it to stream the morning paper every day, as well as audiobooks for the ride home. I also use it with my Orb software to stream music and movies from my home desktop. My only real complaint is that the menu system is kind of clunky. You have to press back, back, back to return to the main menu. There ought to be a shortcut to the main menu. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.
I did end up getting the paid version, but I didn't actually pay for it. They have a TrialPay link, so I signed up for a trial of RealPlayer, got the software, then cancelled the trial a couple days later.
Hope this helps your decision
If it can't play .avi files, I'd say that player sucks. Better check out Core Player first for your Pocket PC. Don't even waste your time.
I found this thread too, more information about it and the BUGS it has: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433026&highlight=kinoma+player
They don't support any type of AVI files, if you read through Kinoma's forum the creators say that it is too much trouble to support AVI due to all the variants of codec. They also state that most movies/TV shows that are pirated are in AVI format and they seem to be taking the moral highground over supporting it.
Very good as a music only player though, very swish interface.
I absolutely love Kinoma. I bought the pro version since.. well, I love it. I don't like watching movies on my phone AT ALL, so that's not a problem for me. The Internet radio feeds, podcasts and Flickr, Youtube, Audible, Orb, idisk and other features are awesome. I'd gladly pay for it again.
I love it! I only use Kinoma FreePlay because the Pro version offers me nothing more that I need. Ever since I installed it and found old MacGyver episodes, I've been doing a lot less work.

Can anyone make the htc media player run flac and wave files?

hi guys,
I just wanted to ask you if maybe anyone here can tell me what i have to do to get flac an wave files working on the htc media player?
I'm asking, because i'd like to leave my ipod video 5g (30gb with rockbox) at home and buy a 16gb card for the hd2
any solutions?
greetz,
Eck
Install and use TCpMP player instead of HTC original music player. Works perfect with all kind of audio, video and pic files.
Is there any way to use remote control buttons in TCpMP ?

Let's visit Conduits website then, Thanks a lot man
Yes, but isn't there any way to make the plugins work with the original media player, because i really like the tab player of the HD2, fits better to the whole device than a third party player and I don't want to start installing millions of apps to be able to open each file, I mean isn't it better to find a way to make it more simple and don't have to full up the memory and the registry of the phone?
Bump... any way of integrating FLAC decoding into this nice-looking program?
i also would like more plugins ffor the htc player because the controls look realy good and it plays full screen. flv, divx, etc, etc, and even wmv would be nice. somebody please.

STREAM .mp4 Videos

Hey guys have you ever clicked on a .mp4 or .m4v (iPhone video/website) link on opera mobile or IE and notice that it starts to download!?
well how do I make it so it will stream the video with Coreplayer instead of downloading the file?
it seem like a very common thing that the iPhone and Android do but not WINDOWS MOBILE!?
so any toughts will be highly apriciated, maybe editing the opera registry or so somethig??
thanks
BTW I've searched EVERYWHERE and cant seem to find a solution for this
ARE YOU SERIOUS GUYS!? NO! one
STREAMING
Im in the same boat your in and nobody has an answer...i hate downloading it should stream like tyhe other phones do....somebody help!!!!
It's not that hard; what you need to do is look in your PIE cache for the file that starts the stream up. If you use the streams at TodayPda.com, for instance, you will find .asx files dumped for each stream you used. Just copy them to a folder on your sd card, then go to the file associations tabs in tcpmp's settings and check the box for metafiles. Then, you can open the stream up in tcpmp by clicking on the .asx file. If you go to shoutcast, a file called "tunein-station.pls" is dumped (I think in PIE it may ask if you want it downloaded, otherwise it's in the cache). You need to copy it and rename it (as all stations use the same file name). As long as .pls files are associated with tcpmp, then clicking on these files will open up tcpmp.
If you're talking about links that just download the entire video, you seriously have a problem with that? I'd call that a bonus, myself. The files usually download faster than they stream, and the video quality is better and you can watch them offline as much as you want. A lot of the 'streaming' vids that you see aren't really streaming, anyway. Somewhere on your device, a temporary file is being dumped and once the dump start, you start to view it. If you watch youtube videos over PIE, that's how it works. When the video is fully loaded, you can go to \windows\temp, and there will be a .tmp file that is the actual video.
streaming
wow now u know a whole.lot...definitely gonna try that but what would be ideal is clicking on a video or link and to watch it streaming just like in an iPhone. that is what we are looking for...is there a EASIER way???????????
I get what you guys are sayingand I knew that info already (not trying to be rude)
HOWEVER
I'm currently thinking of building a website for streaming media not to download as some people would rather have the option of streaming the Videos.
I have SEARCHED months for Tv series to movies, something like south park family guy, House, law&order to many more. Some complete series other movies Ready for WVGA devices and more newer type off phones.
All together comes to thousands of GB worth of media. so NO! CRAPPY 3gp quality as there are many website already like that so its most in https mp4 not rtsp.
anyways I'm still thinking about it as everything should be Ondemand and FREE! ( with some ads )
I was thinking something like:
www.HD2media.mobi
you could code an app that sets off the video stream (no idea how though )

Is there any good movie player apps for it that will play mkv files?

I think someone told me of one that you have to pay for a few weeks ago, but wondering if there is some free apps now. For the pc there is a bunch like VLC, Gom and KM player that play every video format. It would be nice to be able to take advantage of the hdmi output.

I didn't see it on the vlc website. Do you know where to find it? I did a search, but nothing came up. It did mention the ability to play files from your computer remotely, but that is streaming so it wouldn't be HD or great quality I imagine.

Same... there was one talked about for WM also, but never seen. Please share.
VLC hasn't been ported for Android yet.
That said, the guys that are releasing a PSX emulator and working on an Android N64 emulator, are supposedly going to working on porting VLC in their spare time. http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/04/playstation-emulator-coming-to-android-courtesy-of-yongzh-and-z/

I just installed yxplayer and it won't play a 1.4gb mkv file well at all. It is just a picture every few screens. Maybe the phone can't handle the file size, but my friend has an mkv player he got from china and it is bad a$$. It plays all file types and has mini hdmi out and I doubt it has a processor and ram as much as the evo. It's been out a lil while I'm sure. It has it's own screen but will output to an hd tv and looks just like you were playing a blue ray.
Probably thats the case... my mkvs were 640x480 anime shows. Havent tried anything hi-def...
On a side note, yxplayer is available as a trial only (2 min play time limit, tho some vids played for more and some reqlly did cut off after 2min), and if you wanna buy/pirate it - you won't be able to. The app for some dumb reason uses phone's imei for registration, which is gsm-only =O

Ok, so I'll wait for vlc, or another player to come out. Although I really won't need to play many movies on my phone. I will use my laptop if anything.
Dont forget about CorePlayer... they're working on a version for android as well. CorePlayer for winmo played mkv and nearly everything else I threw at it (performance on the other hand was a totally different subject, lol)
Any idea of a release date for Coreplayer? I've been converting my files for the longest time now but sometimes I don't get a chance to in the case of downloading a football match.
Its been in development for year(s) now, waiting for better NDK on android... Froyo seems to be exactly what they were missing so we should be seeing the app in few months, i hope...
