Why do my emails dissappear from HD2? - General Questions and Answers

Just can't find a way to keep my emails on my HTC HD2. They are there in inbox for a while and just dissappear. I need some guidance if possible.

The inbox will contain not more than 50 mails. All older mails will be removed from your device.
To enable more mails, follow this little guide:

Email TF3D Tab> Inbox> Menu> Tools> Manage Folders> Inbox> Folder Options> Inbox Options.
More explanation on the bottom -Hope this helps-
Scroll to the "Email" TF3D tab. Once there, click "Inbox" (on the bottom to the left).
> Once inside your "Inbox", click "Menu" (on the bottom to the right).
> In the "Menu" box Highlight and select "Tools.
> The "Tools" box will bring another box, in it Highlight and select "Manage Folders".
> Once inside "Manage Folders" Tap and hold the "Inbox" folder.
> This brings a small box, Highlight and select "Folder Options" which will take ya to another screen Called "Inbox" options.
> Once there you can choose how many days to download or and whether the entire message or only its header.

still in a problem
I still can't solve this issue, can't higlight "folder options", but just one thing, I don't have a problem with a max ammount of emails, sometimes there are only 2, 3 or 10 emails, and the just dissapear. Hope you can find a better solution, and my friend has the same problem too. He has HTC Touch HD.

Really weird.. But since your friend has it too, isn't it your Wifi connection that troubles?

You might receive more help if you could provide more info on:
1) what email are you using?;
2) is it downloaded by POP3; IMAP or Active Sync.(exchange server)?
3) Howlong the emails staying inbox before dissapear?
3 a) does the email dissapear after reading them or???
4) What is your setting to download past days emails
5) What is the server settings for the emails after downloading ( does the server keep copy or delete on the server after download)

some info about emails
1. I'm using private email form bnet (provider from Croatia)
2. POP3
3. Emails disappear after 2 to 5 days
3.a. of course all emails are read
4. I didn't set any past days to download emails(it's set to all messages)
5. My server settings on PPC can't give the info about emails after downloading from server
Maybe it's because I syncronize my PPC with PC ( but I don't sync emails)
I've also ajusted settings for manual deleting messages.

Need help again
OK, I've found out that whenever I check emails on my PC, all emails dissapear from my PPC. Weird! as if they are just temporarly on my PPC until I check up on my PC. Does it have something to do with my server, is it my provider. Hpe to get some usefull help.

shouldn't be an issue with your server. there must be an option somewhere that may be set to deleting emails once they are read. emails disappearing once you red them on your pc makes sense. i will experiment with mine and post any findings.

how do i set flexmail to save messages to the storage card?

Hi, im setting up flexmail as an alternative to the built in email client on wm5 and I cant seem to find how to change messages/attachments to be saved over to the storage card instead of on the main memory.
Everytime I try to pull mail, my device runs out of memory and slows down to a crawl.
Also, another slight problem I just hit... I set all the options exactly as it said in the gmail config help... and Now, when I try to send mail via flexmail through gmail, its asking for "account credentials" ...
I set my username: [email protected]
I set my password: *************************
....but when I hit ok, its just stuck in a loop as if im providing it the wrong info. Anyone else experiencing this? I have not yet been able to send mail via ppc through gmail. All clients have done similar stuff.
I'll try to answer both the questions at the same time...First delete your present gmail account in FM 2007. Then set up a new version of the account following this process: When you start thru the menus to set up a new email "Account" and enter a gmail address FM will ask you if you want to use the default settings for gmail.com. Answer Yes to this. Now move thru the dialogs; the only thing that you will need to change/add is the gmail password. Do not change any of the other settings for gmail. You will eventually come to a dialog titled "Account Name and Storage". This is where you select the card as your storage. Enter the account name that you want, uncheck the "Store the mail messages...in local folders" and hit Next. You are now at a directory browser. Navigate to where you want the emails stored and/or create the folder for the storage and hit next. There will be a speed warning, acknowledge it, hit Finish and you are done.
This should work for you. I have never had a problem setting up gmail on any of my PPC's using this process. Now, if this still does not allow you to download mails I would haver to wonder if you are running thru a proxy that is causing problems.
Also, remember that gmail is not a "real" POP3 service, so there will be some problems using it (ex: I currently can only download emails 10 at a time...no idea why, and it worked fine 1 week ago...go figure)
HTH,

Thank you. Its working now. ^_^

disspearing email on GMail solved

hi there!
just thought i'd share my 2 pence worth:
i use pocket outlook to access my gmail account, however the emails have a funny habit of "dissapearing" after being downloaded. this is probably due to gmail's automatic removal of downloaded emails.
as work around is stated here:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=47948
this will allow you to retain emails (both read and unread) from the last 30 days in your pop inbox. which should b ample time for you to decide what to and not to copy
in short:
instead of logging on using:
Code:
user
use instead:
Code:
recent:user
hope this helps someone.

It helps
Thank you !
you could also just switch from "get full copy of message" to "get message header only". enable the message body box and set to 999kb. that will keep messages on your mobile device indefinately.
i dont remember if that works or not for me - i usually download full messages as i hate having to connect twice (especially being on the w'n'w data plan )
now if only i spent the past week revising for tomorrow's exam rather then researching how to set up my pda...
doesn't seem to work for me. the downloaded email is still deleted after a send/receive
using pocket outlook on treo 750v
what settings do you have for: "Only display messages from the last XX days"?
(i'm now having the opposite problem... it seems that even after i've deleted a email, it comes back after a while )
tian
here are my settings
username recent:[email protected]
password: xxxxxxxx
only display messages from the: unchecked
require ssl connection: checked
outgoing mail req. authentication: checked
get full copy of messages
incoming: pop.gmail.com
outgoing: smtp.gmail.com
what settings do you have?
i've got the same except:
only display the messages from the last 3 days
btw. in my outlook options under storage i also have:
manually remove email
I also have delete items manually. I will try out 3 days and see what happens.
My account configuration is the same for both outlook and pocket outlook, except the username : it is my full gmail address for outlook contrary to pocket outlook which does have my full address with the "recent:" prefix...
Everything is working fine, I have all my mails retrieved in outlook and all my mail from the last 30 days in pocket outlook...
To prevent it from being deleted, make a sub Folder within Inbox, move all your wanted mails into the new folder, well, it will never be deleted. Hope this simple solution is helpful to all.

Sync'ing Sent Items via IMAP4 causes disappearance of sent item

Hi,
I have a Treo 800w Windows Mobile 6.1 device that I am currently synchronizing via Exchange ActiveSync with an Exchange Server 2007 email account. I just recently needed to be able to also get email from an Exchange Server 2003 SP2 email account, so I set it up to access that account via IMAP4. It is set to pull email from the server every 30 minutes, and right now it set to download the most recent 7 days worth of email (although I'll probably change this to 30 days). I also need to be able to see my sent items, so I configured the account to also download my sent items (via "Menu" -> "Tools" -> "Manage Folders"). However, I'm having a real issue (which others have also experienced, see: http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsMobile/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3355528&SiteID=65) in that whenever I now send an email from this account, it shows up briefly in the Sent Items folder on my device, and then disappears. Further, when checking the actual Exchange mailbox (via OWA), it doesn't show up there either. It seems to disappear permanently. If I disable synchronization of the Sent Items folder and then send another email from this account, it obviously doesn't show up on my device, but now does show up in the Sent Items folder of the mailbox. This is a real issue, and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice.
P.S. I do have the "Keep copies of sent items in Sent folder" option checked in the "Message" tab when you go to "Menu" -> "Tools" -> "Options"
Any help or information is greatly appreciated! I'm wondering if this is a bug that we need to bring to the attention of Microsoft (and how does one go about doing that if it turns out to actually be a bug?).

Folder Synchronization: IMAP vs. ActivSync

I'm looking for confirmation or correction regarding my observation of a folder synchronization problem I see with ActiveSync.
Menu | Tools | Manage Folders | <hold stylus on folder to invoke pop up menu> | Folder Options
for ActiveSynch, Folder Options is not enabled, whereas with IMAP, it is.
This means that with IMAP you can choose FOR EACH FOLDER how many days of messages you want to download, and more importantly, the folder will not purge the messages on the client when given number of days pass. The benefit is obviously being able to move items to folders for safe keeping while the inbox stays lean.
With ActiveSync, it seems that all the folders obey the "download past x days" setting in the Email Sync Options set during the Outlook Email setup wizard, and all folders are vulnerable to the rolling "x-days" purge.
This difference forces me to keep an IMAP account for email while using ActiveSync for just contacts and calendar.
Is anyone else aware of this? Does anyone else agree or disagree?
Thanks in advance.

My HD2 is connecting to gmail and other custom mails, then it also shows connected and downloading headers in the progress bar for all the mails, but no mail is visible in the inbox folder. I can send new email using the same account which again is only visible on PC and is downloaded on my HD2 but not shown.
Does anyone knows, how to fix this?
