Hi guys, after a week trying to get rid off the AKU2 Update that i've done to my spv c600(orange), I managed a really stupid but working way to unlock it.
SO here it is:
enter in this website (http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com), and put the information asked (if you dont have orange number phone, do like I did it, and put one "0" (without commas).
Passed 30 minutes you receive in your email the link to one cab that will decertify your phone (cause the regedit hasnt able to run).
Next, you download "smartione" (is one aplication that do the same that regedit, and another stuff).
when you get it installed in PC, you run it, with mobile sync in activesync, and then go "file", "options", and when you see "mode_edition=1" change the "1" to "2" and save, then you go "tools", "registry editor", ""hkey local machine", "security", "policies", "policies", and change the value of "00001005" to "40".
Now you are able to run the cert.cab that come with SPV-Services, and then you can run smootly the SPV-Services and unlock your device without any problem.
See ya

Alltel Touch Pro (now Verizon customer with Alltel hardware)
OEM ROM
NC market in NYC (Verizon)
I had to swap phones due to hardware problems, and since I
ran *228 (2-roam list) I can't get into program mode ##778
tries to really dial and it fails. I checked the registry and
the correct entries are still there. I was able to do a hard reset,
and the it worked again. I'm guessing the data stored by the
tower somehow confused the OS? I noted that the xml in the carrier
cab for Alltel sets the ## numbers in the registry but the Verizon
version does not. Don't know if that means any thing though.
When I get home, and rerun *228 2 from Alltel tower will that fix it?
Any idea how to regain ##778 without rebuilding the phone again?
Thanks
PS: I found epst.exe in \windows but i think its just a rom program,
is there a way to make my own 'shortcut' to it to effectively run
it like ##778 is supposed to?
I have Resco File Manager and SK Shortcut Manager.
I thought maybe RFM could make the shortcut and
shortcut manager could edit it to add the operand
(##778) so epst.exe knew what I wanted to do?
hmms: it looks like RFM isn't displaying the hidden/system
rom files. Anyone know how to get it to do so? Or could
someone point me to directions how build the .lnk file
manually?
I need it to be:
\windows\epst.exe ##778
Thanks
I figured it out.
The Windows Mobile builtin file explorer was able to create
the shortcut, and SK Shortcut Manager added the operand
for me. I tested it and got the programming screens.
Thanks again
I can receive, but not send sms. After an hour on the phone with att tech support, she [thinks that she] figured out the problem.
I need to set in a "message center" number (it currently says "not set".) The problem is that for some reason it is greyed out on my phone. She didn't know how to get past that.
Samsung was of no help either.
I am using a vibrant on 2.1 unlocked (tmobile phone on att.)
Messaging -> settings -> message center
I bet someone on here knows how to ungray it!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I spent a couple more hours on the phone today. Called samsung again. They had me do a hard reset without the sim card. That didn't work. They told me to contact tmobile, since it is their software. Tmobile couldn't do anything, but told me to have att do an over the air update to the message center number. Att tried to do that but said they couldn't because it isn't an att phone with their software on it.
There must be a way to do this on a root level. I'm just not sure where to look, or what to change. Some one must know
Fix for you
Ok I figured this one out...
You do have to be rooted for this to work, and you also have to have an XML editor (I DO NOT recommed Notepad as it may alter formatting in a way that breaks the file alltogether. Tested and verified using Visual Studio as the editor)
Using Root Explorer or whatever is your preferred way to browse the phone, browse to the file:
/dbdata/databases/com.android.mms/shared_prefs/com.android.mms_preferences.xml
Then copy it to /sdcard so you can see it from your PC to edit
Find the key named "pref_key_manage_smsc_address" (at the bottom)
Change it from Not Set to 12063130004 (That's for T-mobile, or whatever is correct for your provider)
Then copy it back!!
I strongly recommend keeping a "known working" copy of the file in case your editor messes up the formatting.
I did not have to reboot or anything after this process, the number showed up in the (still greyed out) Message Center but text sending is working again for me!!!!
Wow thanks for the fix. It worked! I was able to do it all on my phone using:
'Root Explorer' to find and copy the file
'SilverEdit' to edit the xml to enter the message center number ( att +13123149810 )
Dang! I put it into flight mode, and when it came out, it reverted back to"not set."
I did find a perminent fix though. I walked into the nearest att store and asked for a new sim card. It turns out to be a sim card problem.
That fix does work though as a temporary problem solver.
*Another Fix
Hey everyone, I was experiencing the same problem with the grayed out Message Center.
What I did was actually go to:
Messaging -> Settings -> Restore default settings
Then the Message Center was no longer grayed. I went in and entered
+16135009000
I then actually had to change the phone numbers by adding a +1 in front of each before I was able to send out a text message again.
Hope that helps.
Is the message center only on stock rom? cuz im on axura latest rom and i cna't find message center in the settings in messaging. Also I can't find the xml file using file manager as well. I was sending txt find when i unlock and used it on att for a day and then my friend delete my apn username so that it "block my data" so i can't used data. Turns out i can't send txt after that. I also restore it to default apn and it not sending my txt. I can received txt though. I switch to my SE w580i and i can get/send txt again. if you got any answer for the vibrant, i would appreciated.
Finally i got it . after all the frustrations and such. Apparently. you HAVE to use root explorer. all other file manager can't access beyond dbdata.
I just received the Galaxy S 4g today, and had this same problem, sent 1.5 hrs on the phone with T-mobile, they told me i had bad phone and they would send me another, i told them i would try some things and call back later, I finally found this post and it worked perfectly for me, except for my phone the path was different, /data/data/com.android.mms/shared_prefs/com.andriod.mms_preferences.xml
edit it with "Blue fish editor" for Linux
Thanks again

I was in same situation.. S7 edge freedom mobile. Able to recieve sms but not able to send.
Solution : install this app (sms fail fix) by Andrea.
Open it. (no need to do anything)
Restart phone.
That's it.
Now try sending.
Mine got fixed.
OK this is pretty much the same as the droid 1 with a few change ups.
Requirements Are as follows

NOW YOUR DONE. YAYYYYYYY.....now have fun and tell me how it goes for you, so far for me its all good, web, mms, talk, text all work fine.
Nice tutorial!
The only thing I would say is I don't think you need to use Rom Manager with clockwork on the D2. I've heard other people who've installed Rom Manager with recovery and it screws up the Bootstrapped recovery. Everything you need to flash will go through boot strap so the only use for it on the D2 is just to download stuff.
Is this for Droid 2 or Droid 2 Global?
Anyone have any experience with Cricket? How are the data speeds and call reliability?
well in the city and where i live i get about good download speed, normal upload for low end carrier.
in the outta parts like the sticks i get 1x speeds but data none the less.
and No this is not for the Droid 2 global, that would seem like a sim card based phone. so im guessing its GSM which means it can be unlocked to work with any sim card base network
And ive done this flash about 13 times already and rom manger and bootstrap all seemed to play nice. i did flash the clockwork recovery before i install bootstrap just so i could get to the recovery menu.
Would this method work on a Droid Incredible?
Nice write up.Im hoping to do this sometime.
Not sure if it would work on the incredable since droids are made by moto and the increadable is htc

One question, after flashing to Cricket. How would you go by and updating the system? Cause i could imagine auto updating it would interfere with the flash..

well that would depend on your rom, most rom's faze out the auto update and ever needing it.
And then there's clockwork recovery that's flashed to the phone itself.
clockwork will never allow a carrier update it will always block it and ask you to reboot your phone.
so either way there's no auto updates going to happen, so i would say your safe from the auto update feature in the phone.
But if your rom doesn't have the auto update disabled, your going to get naged to death by it.
Oh i got you. And any Rom works with flashing over to Cricket?
-Thanks for replying quickly Lol[:

yup any rom will work, so you can install a rom and just try it out for a few hours before you even get to setting it up web and mms
but even if you install new roms, your talk and text will always work right out of the box with any rom since writing of the MDN and MIN numbers are in the phones main system or a kinda bios, so you can alway try before you keep. And sometimes you can set up more then one rom for full cricket settings and just switch between if you wanted to.

im not sure where the NV items are stored on the phone itself.
so your best bet would be to try to write in just the what your setting are suppose to be for your network and write them, and test it out.`
So I'm well on my way with this excellent walkthrough . . . But as a noob who has no current service on this Droid2 and no service with any other phone, what should I do to get cricket service going? Order the android plan by calling them, get the basics set up so that I can establish MIN & MDN, then go through the rest of the steps?

ok first off, yes you do need a cricket account. And No you dont need the android plan. I dont even think cricket will let you get a android plan without THEIR android phone. I tried this awhile back with a blackberry i flashed and wanted the blackberry plan and was told that they would be breaking the contract between them and RIM and could have there store something or other revoked from cricket if they allowed a flashed blackberry to get a blackberry plan instead of buying their phone new, with a new plan.
Soooo in turn i think if would be the same deal so you should just get the basic 40 plan like i have, i have full web,text,mms,email,...etc and all i pay is 46(with tax) a month
and im not sure if cricket will let you order over the phone. But in store they might work with you. Simply ask them to make you an account, pay for everything and then get your MIN and MDN numbers and do the NV items and all the other Settings with your numbers.
BUT this is if the stupid people in store(which almost have no idea other then how to pay your bill) will try to help you with.
MAKE SURE YOU STRESS TO THEM YOU ARE GOING TO FLASH THE PHONE YOURSELF AND THAT YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE NOT HELD LIABLE FOR YOUR PHONE OR SERVICE NOT WORKING EVEN THOUGH YOU PAID FOR IT. (this is just the legal crap so they feel better)
Heh yeah I have already had one experience with the people in the store--I love how about two hours of reading random forum posts online with no structure to how I was getting my information basically gave me more knowledge than an entire store staff combined.
I have read that you can tell them you have an M6000 and get the android plan that way, but then obviously you can't bring the phone into the store with you. On the other hand, you're saying you have full web, i.e. evdo, even without the android plan? If so, makes more sense to me not to pay the $55.

can my problem be solved?
When I first got this phone back in March I bricked it the next day playing around with it. @petermg posted the firmwares for this device on July 24th. Luckily I kept it. Big thanks to him for sharing them.
This method also works on the Boost Mobile LG G Stylo LS770 which I have tested on AT&T, also.
Downloaded the files from the Sprint LG G3 SIM Unlock guide.
You will need:
a rooted device
Shortcut Master lite (in the Play Store)
Root Browser (in the Play Store)
files in attachment
1. Go to Settings/About Phone/Software Info and hit build number 7 times to enable Developer Options
2. Go to Developer Options and make sure Enable OEM Unlock and USB Debugging is checked.
3. Root with Kingroot
4. Download Root Browser from the Play Store
5. Open Root Browser, go to /carrier/apps and delete everything in it.
6. Copy the files from the attachment below to the same folder /carrier/apps. Make sure the permissions are set correctly. 'node.db' needs to be set at rw-rw 0660, 'node.db-journal' needs to be set at rw 0600. You can use Root Browser. I had no issues.
7. Now to go /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases and delete everything in it.
Now would be a good time to go to Settings/Mobile Networks/Network Mode/ and put it on GSM/UMTS
8. Power Down phone, put in your GSM SIM card, and boot on up.
9. Open up Shortcut Master lite and do a search for 'apn' without the quotes. We are looking for one that says Hidden Menu com.lge.hiddenmenu.ModemProtocol.ApnSettings. I attached a pic. Once you select it, you will need to hold down the recent windows button and choose New APN, or just select the one already there from Sprint/Boost and edit it. Your choice...
Once you are done adding/editing APN, don't forget to hit the recent window button again to save APN. If you just hit the back button, you will have to redo it. Once saved, then make sure it is selected. Your data should show up.
Things to keep in mind:
You might not get LTE. Sprint has different bands/frequencies than GSM.
You will get HSPA & HSPA+. I did a speed test on AT&T Go Phone SIM and was getting 12mbps easily.
I did a ##72786# BEFORE I did these steps. Every reboot it tries to do a Hands Free Activation. It doesn't mess nothing up, but just annoying. Also I get a message saying 'can't complete init setup due to GSM network' You can ignore that also. Also, since my device wasn't activated first, my hotspot options disappeared. I haven't found a way to put it back yet.
Signal Meter only shows 3G, but Settings/Status shows HSPA or HSPAP (+) (see screenshots)
I think the SIM card you are going to use has to be active? I tried a T-mobile SIM and didn't get no signal. My AT&T SIM was. Let us know, please.
To undo what we just did, just dial ##72786# in dialer. My Tribute 5 is bad ESN for Boost Mobile, so I can't activate it to get rid of the HFA or get the hotspot feature back. I'm sure someone here will figure it out.
I did do an extra step with Shortcut Master, but I don't think it is required. Its just another way to set the Network Mode to GSM/WCDMA/ when Boost Mobile actually gives us the option without leaving it out. Since it is a 'Global' Phone
Post your screenshots of some Speed Tests. Lets see what this phone is capable of.

Boost Mobile lg LS675
Hi, I have the exact same phone.. I did everything step by step all the way to where I'm to go to settings I did not get the option to select GSM. only LTE/CDMA and CDMA.
I rooted with kingo root, downloaded root browser, shortcut master lite, downloaded attach. files , deleted current files on /carrier/apps and pasted downloaded ones. I fixed the permission to node.db' needs to be set at rw-rw 0660, 'node.db-journal' needs to be set at rw 0600.. ,
I deleted the files on /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases.. Once I went into settings as suggested that's where i'm stuck since I don't have the GSM option. I will try to reset my phone to factory and starting fresh... hoping it might work. Any suggestions.. One thing I did notice is that once i restart my phone the files on /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases , re appear once I restart my phone.. If you can help me.. That will be so awesome!! If not I'll keep trying regardless.. Thank's in advance..
Okay so I was able to get it going following this similar steps..
1. root phone with kingoroot (2). download root browser and shortcut master lite from play store. (3) download attached files node.db and node.db-journal ( i placed them in root internal memory phone) (4) open root browser and navigate to /carrier/apps and delete original node.db,node.db-journal and replace with downloaded ones, hold each file and click on permissions to set node.db to rw-rw 0660, node.db-journal to rw 0600, (5). turn off the phone and add desired sim then turn the phone back on.(6).open shortcut master lite and search com.lge.hiddenmenu.jcm_only.networkmode. launch it. also I added to favorite and home not sure if its necessary but i did it. select LTE/GSM/WCDMA.. or select gsm only and then LTE/GSM/WCDMA and you will notice your sim connects to your network. Tested and working so far.. I will try apn and keep you updated.

Hi. if you want to change the icon 3g to 4g, just edit the ro.build.target_operador = SPR line, you can put ro.build.target_operador = att and reboot and see 4g. no matter which operator sim use. 4g icon always reflect

Nope. Page Plus is Verizon. They have to put the MEID on the account just like Boost/Sprint. If said MEID ain't in the Verizon system, they won't take it.
I rooted and unlocked my LG675 Boost. After putting my SIM card (MetroPCS) in the phone still says Emergency Calls Only. What did I do wrong? I followed all the steps mentioned above. I even have the APN set to MetroPCS.
Any luck with Tribute HD rooting and unlock? Any help is much appreciated.

Everything went great for me except for one thing. I accidentally deleted the original apn settings before i could edit in the ones I would need for T-Mobile. i can recieve MMS and voice calls but have no internet. Is there a way for me to see insert the settings I need without having to download and flash the whole Kdz file and start over? When I dial ##72786#, nothing switches back to default so I have to do everything in reverse but cant un-delete what is gone. I really appreciate any help. Thanks alot
Finally got it to work. Getiing good signal (talk, text,& data) using Family Mobile sim card. Thanks for the tutorial. Awesome

Hey. I wanted to help. If you successfully unlocked correctly, which it sounds like you did, you can use MetroPCS. However, you need to call MetroPCS first and let them know you are switching phones. You basically have to "ask for permission". This is why I hate Boost & Metro and never recommend the services to anyone. Metro will verify the imei is clean, then they will pair your sims iccid to the phone imei. After that your in business. Make sure you set your apn to get data working.
