Music Tab Player Hangs - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

Hi,
I have narrowed down my problem to the music player attempting to update album art.
After some time, it just hangs and stops playing. Eventually it comes back and music can continue.
I think the problem is with it trying to update the album art (I see the spinning circle on the top left)
I have read some issues with the files being read-only but that is not my case.
I also don't have any of the Update Album Art settings checked so not sure why it is even trying.
My music all has correct art. I've done it on my PC.
Any way to stop the player from trying to get the album art?
Thanks very much.

You can't stop it, a process is started when it starts loading the album arts, when that is killed or you reboot your phone you have to load them again. I never had to load the album arts 2 time.

Any idea why it causes the player to hang?
Thanks.

Well.. for me I can't even play the music until the album arts are 100% loaded so I just wait till they are lol. You should do the same or use another media player such as PocketMusic Player, S2P or Nitrogen.

Please excuse the ignorance but how do I know they are loaded? Once the spinning ring stops?
Thanks.

Yes, that's right.

I think I understand now.
I thought the Update... were toggles that meant to update as it went, but they are just actions.
Thanks a bunch for clarifying.

I left the phone on the music tab overnight, and even after that whenever I come back to play music it still seems to try to update the album art.
Is there any way to batch complete this?
Thanks.

That's strange. What I have done is like this: Storage Card\Music\Artist\Album and there I put all the songs from a release together with the album art and name it "Folder.jpg". After you update the library in WMP and go to the HTC player it will create a new .jpg in all folders.

I don't go through WMP, just copied my files manually but they all have the album art in the same file structure you mentioned. I use Media Monkey to clean up my media.
On a separate note, I noticed that you are from Sweden, a friend is going to Stockholm on Friday. Do you think flights from the US will be making it in by then?
Thanks.

Getting the touch flo app to see my music...

I've removed the supplied music and added my own selection to my memory card. The touch flo music app see's this in its library and, if I go through the pages to select and album and song, will show the album art etc. in the touch flo music player but it only shows that one artist at a time, not the stacked albums as with the original, supplied music.
How do I get the touch flo music player to build the stacked view of my artists?
Thanks...
Isn't touchflo3D linked to windows media player? If so, try going to start>programs>wmp right click>Update library. I haven't had this problem so don't know much.
I don't use WMP as such though and only want to synch some files from another location, not those my laptop has access to...
2nd poster is right, you have to find a link to windows media player then go into the options and update your library. It finds all music files and adds them, and they can then be accessed by going into the music tab and hitting Library in the bottom left.
Okay, cheers. Will give it a go and sort it out.
Thanks both.
That's weird. All I did was dump a load of tracks onto my SD card in a folder and they all appeared. I didnt have to do anything in WMP etc. TF3D picked them up pretty much straight away.
EDIT: Having read your OP again, I see what you are getting at. The view of "stacked albums" you are talking about is the "Now Playing" list. You have to add items into Now Playing before they will appear there. You will not see your entire music collection in that view unless you put them all into the playist that is currently playing.

AH, I didn't even realize that lol... I thought he meant getting them into the library, and unlike yours mine didn't pick them up automatically. I had a folder full of files with "No program assigned" so I couldn't even open them until I updated my library.
i think that the original tracks gave you the wrong ideia. I used a diamond and i could only ear one artist at the time! the up and down only changes track.
But since you mention it, try messing with the settings and choose all albums. This should do the trick because with the original track they were like albums but with only one sample track each??
Should be getting mine soon to try it out
Yep, think I'm getting the hang of it.
Some confusion too. When I was referring to WMP I meant on my laptop rather than WMP on the Touch Pro.
WMP on my laptop wanted to synch a few hundred pictures as well... Stopped that and removed what I don't want leaving only the music I do want on the Touch Pro storage card.
Have now updated the library from within WMP on the Touch Pro (you have to first change it to look in the storage card) and now things are looking better.
Yep, agree that the supplied sample tracks give the impression that the Touch Flo music app can navigate between albums a flick at a time whereas this was because there was only a single track per each of these albums...
Have also seen that I need to get a selection made in order for the stacked album covers to appear...
Getting there slowly...
Further. Have added all my music to a playlist now and that makes all the albums come up in the stacked album view within the touch flo music app.
Not quite like what I thought it would be like though, i.e. you are limited to scrolling through your music one track at a time, the album flips to the next when you reach beyond the first or last track - you can't flip through albums at a time using the interface (unless the album has only one track) to select.

I think it's just a re-skinned WMP, built around it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that why you update WMP's library and it shows up in touch-flo's library?
It is a crock, I am going to switch it off, all I want to do is browse the folders to add songs to the play list but all I get is a big long list of all the songs on there, I have multiple versions of some but I can't see which are which.......

yes, if you have 10 songs from the same album, each gesture flick will flip to the next track but the album art doesn't flip since it's the same album.
I "workaround" by creating a playlist containing multiple albums, and then I sort them in such a manner that the album tracks are arranged randomly, or at least no two track from the same album are together side by side.
Regarding album art.
I have added pics to albums that I have in WMP on PC. Synced those albums with TP. Some of the album arts does not show in TF3Ds music player, other does. However, album art shows nice when playing the same file in WPM on TP. Any clues???
Regarding album art, one foolproof way I've discovered of ensuring it appears is to make sure each album folder contains a file called Folder.jpg, then TF3D's music app will convert that JPG into it's own album art file when it next updates its library, which it tends to do either after a soft reset or after a memory card is inserted.
You may then delete all the Folder.jpg files if you want, to save space - they won't be needed any more.

AudioManager problem

Hey guys, I've got this problem where HTC Touch PRO's TF3D Music tab can't play my music. I would get an error message "AudioManager_eng.exe has encountered a problem" and "shell32.exe has encountered a problem", smth like that. I've tried deleting the .VOL file and then soft reset. But when I go to the Music tab, AudioManager would Search for audio files and then those 2 error messages would pop up while searching and AudioManager will juz show "Searching" on the Music tab.
I've done a hard reset but to no avail. I really need this fixed. Thanks guys!
Come on guys. Anything?
Maybe you should try flashing a custom ROM.
I remember having this problem, I don't know how i resolved it, but just search AudioManager_eng.exe in google you'll find you answer, I'm sure.
Did you change your storage card to "my documents"? If so change it back there are to many problems.
Regards,
AJ

You need to download mp3tag, transfer your music back to your desktop, strip all the tags off your songs and resync it. This fixes the audiomanager crash. I had the same problem and I tryed this and it worked. This solution comes from the Diamond forum
Wow, that fixed the problem. Thanks! So AudioManager doesn't support ID3 tags? If I added only album art into the tag, will the same problem occur?

I'm not sure but give it a try and let us know. There has to be a way to still get our album art on our music and have it play through audio manager
You can install the album art, as I have it running perfectly on my TP. I did learn though that you can only install the art assigned by Media Player on your pc. I had two songs that I assigned custom album art. When trying to load the songs in my TP, I got an error similiar to the one you were getting (don't remember the exact, but did reference an *.exe file not working properly).
Good luck with your testing.

The album art assigned by WMP is not embedded into the MP3. I've found that if the album art is not embedded into the MP3, the album art will show up on WMP when u play it but won't show up if u transfer the song into an mp3 player or another PC. An embedded art will ALWAYS show up no matter where u play it from.

Correct, they are simple *.jpg files. I was referring to custom album art I assigned in Media Player (also *.jpg) would cause issues when attempting to play on TP. Not sure if there was another tag assigned in MP, but it didn't agree with my TP.

Cover art on Mp3 player

can anyone tell me why the cover art shows up on WindowsMediaPlaye but when i sync it with my fuze only some of the cover art shows up on the music library? im using the Elite RC2 rom if that helps....
anyone? know the answer to my problem?
If you want cover art for music you need to save a hidden file in the same directory as the mp3 file and name it like this '~hTC_Piano Chill.jpg'. Just start the name with ~hTC_ and then the name of the album.
Then edit the album title on the summary tab of the mp3 file to use the album name that is the same as the jpg. Don't include the ~hTC_ part there though. That's it.
Or embed the album art in the tags.
I use this program:
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
Then I add the album art to all of the files. You can use this program to get album arts too from amazon.
Then I just put the files in my storage card
And BAM! You have it. After putting in your phone you might have to soft reset in order for the album picture to appear.

Not really. This program is best for one album at a time. If you have your 10,000 songs well organized in separate folders you can do this with ease.

i use mediamonkey, it can download album art from the net and update the tags... it can even sync with the TP.. i tested around 10 mp3 ID3 Tag programs before i found mediamonkey. Try it
windows media player has that function, just right click the song/album --> find album info ---> select right one ----> ok ----> right click song/album again ---> update album info.
or do what i did iTunes will do it very will, u need an account
MOE
WMP and Itunes both add album art work to their own libraries and it doesnt all sync over to the fuze for some reason. thats why i started this thread.....
now on to a new but related problem. i used mp3tag to edit the tags and embed all the album art then dropped all my music into my card and did a soft reset. the problem now is that instead of displaying the album art i get " ! " sign.anyone else had this problem? or know how to fix it?
does sync media monkey have the same problem?
or do i need to sync it using WMP again?
EDIT: nvm problem fixed itself guess it just needed a min to read all those song the majority of the song have albulm arteork and tags just a couple here and there that i either missed or just need to re upload. thanks alot for turning me onto mp3tag love it

stock music player wont play in background

I have read on other forums where users report that their built-in default music player stops as soon as they switch away from the screen and others say the have no issue. So I guess this is a mysterious bug. It's driving me nuts. Any ideas in trouble shooting this?
no help here
Sorry mine won't turn off no matter what buttons I push. Matter of fact I can't figure out how to truly turn it off, all I get is pause. Without advanced task killer it just sits in the drop down menu, waiting.
I do have the other bug with it though, I can't sort by artist with a lot of music on there. 25gigs, hit artist and it crashes and says not enough memory. There is more than a gig free on both the internal and the external cards. Bummer.
As of today it now plays in the background. If I can figure out a rhyme or reason as to why it wouldn't before I'll report back.

Nope, no confusion. When the program "Music Player" is launched a task manager shows that it is running but if the companion program, (whos name I cant remember) is not also running then the music will not play in the background. The companion program is launched by Music Player when an audio file is started. It has a similar name to Music Player. I believe it is named Sound Player and it has the same icon as Music Player.
If you start a playlist or album or whatever in the stock player and hit the home key it will show the music player now playin in the notification bar (where you can pause or skip songs. If you go back into the program and use the back button all the way out the program closes.

Ok, now I know how you get confused. Sound Player and Music Player are two different apps. No, Music Player does not require Sound Player in memory. Sound Player can't play in background while Music Player can.
The only way to launch Sound Player is to use My Files File Explorer and open mp3 or other sound files directly. On the other hand, Music Player can only be launched from app launcher and it offers following additional features:
1. Support albums and playlists.
2. Support 5.1ch playback on headphones
3. Support playback on the background.

My music player shuts off when I launch the camera app. Gingerbread I think you found a legitimate bug.
Does anyone have a replacement for sound player (not music player) that can run in the background? I'm sick of having streaming podcasts end when I need to do something else with my phone.

I think that people who have very large music collections will find that the player shuts off when they go into certain applications. My feeling is that this is Android's internal memory manager subroutine figuring that the audio player is eating up way too much memory, most likely due to the database being loaded the entire time the player is running, and deciding to close that one program rather than ten others to free up the same amount of space. How much memory does your player eat up while running?
The Sound Player is opening instead of the Music Player
On my Vibrant, a .mpga file used to open using the Music Player but now the Sound Player is opening instead. My phone is completely stock, never rooted and no aps downloaded, but I can tell which player is opening: after the player opens, I close it and then press and hold the home key to see which program just opened by noting the first program name in the list of the 6. (The two player's interfaces look almost identical so it is easy to think that the Music Player is opening when the Sound Player is the one actually opening.)
Some possible clues to the cause: I had just used the sound recorder for the first time. It creates .amr files. The .amr files showed up in the Music Player's playlist, but the file wouldn't play; so I browsed directly to the file using Files, clicked on the .amr file and the Sound Player opened the file. But now the Sound Player its opening .mpga files instead of the Music Player and my Music Player's playlist is now empty. (At least that is what I think the sequence of events were.)
I imagine that resetting the phone to factory default would fix it, but I'll have to learn how to backup my address book, web favorites, and goggle map starred items.)
I posted here because I believe I have detected accurately what is happening (maybe not the cause, but the fact that the wrong player is opening), and you experts might be able to suggest a workaround or get the bug fixed.

Not true. I've had music in other folders that got pulled into my music library.

[Q] google music app

Hello,
I have a nexus 5 with android 5.01 and google Music version 5.7.1788Q.1634597
i found Music app cannot show the album art of all albums which all has a cover.jpg in the same folder of the music files (flac).
however, i have a xperia sp which has CM11 and same Music version, it can display the all cover art with the same set of folders i put into nexus 5.
anyone has any idea of this problem?
thanks!
Joseph
You can try to change album cover in Windows Media Player and then sync your music.
does anyone else have the problem that some (seemingly) random songs are shown one specific album art image instead of their own?
i dont work with folder, i have every music file tagged with the album art. usually 500x500 pixel. however for some songs android decides to just pick a random album art from another song and show it with them.
