Bejewelled on Android - General Topics

Hi,
The only reason I am considering going back to an iPhone is because it has Bejewelled on it. Does anyone here know if they have plans to release it on android?
I know this sounds so stupid, but it's what is missing on my phone (good games).
Thanks

I believe that Bejeweled exist for Android, google it you'll see that it exists, but looks like it disappeared from Market. You can try Jewels, basically the same thing and free or Jewellust, a little different (it's my favorite actually) but it's not free.

Better yet, the HTC Desire.
And I wouldn't call Android the "dark side". Android's future looks pretty bright
(and no matter what anyone tries to make you believe, the iPhone is a joke, don't waste your money on that - if you want something more "iphoneish" than the HD2, but much much better than an actual iPhone, get the Desire/Nexus One)
Your keyboard problem could be ROM related. What ROM version are you running? Make sure you have at least the official 1.66 ROM.

Galaxy S Road SMS KB

OMG, I saw this video on that new app for the Galaxy S.
Is there a way to port it to the EVO?
Road SMS KB App on Galaxy S
saw it too, pretty sweet im def interested
Now thats an Interesting feature....
In for this.
That is brilliant.
That is sweet!!!
guessing its just goinna be an apk, direct install, but you never know..
that is sweet, we will have it before you know it. it will just be an apk I assume
Better yet, can we get it as a live wallpaper?
that app is cool. such a simple yet brilliant idea.
I like and wouldn't mind having it on our phone. BUT, when I text, I don't hold my phone in front of me. I usually have it down a bit lol. None the less I wouldn't mind seeing it on our phone
is ther ea keyboard like that in the market with just clear buttons, I would love to have that.
This is gonna drain battery like crazy, isn't it?

Yes. Yes it is. My camera i by far the biggest drain on the battery (obviously only when it is used).

You'd have to get a second battery just to get through the day.
Pretty [email protected] cool feature if you ask me.
Hopefully this will reduce the number of wrecks-while-texting, but then again I think to myself; "How many people will actually own this phone AND use this feature"

I think its meant to be used while driving so you can hold the phone up and still keep an eye on the road. Thats the only time that I'd ever use it. I dont text and drive often....but it sure would be helpful those times that I do it.
I'd be safer if I just called them though, LOL

Samsung clarified that it is for pedestrians. Could you imagine the **** storm if they were encouraging driving and texting in any way?
Awesome!
Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of some jerk that hit my car because he thought he could see the road in front of him using the Road SMS app lol
Unfortunately something tells me that what was once thought to be a good idea on Samsung's part, will eventually lead to lawsuits because of ignorant people

Crapware on the Nexus S?

Apparently ThinkFree Office is pre-installed on the Nexus S.
I just found /system/app/Thinkfree.apk 5.04MB
But I can't access it.
OH MY GOD, CRAPWARE!
I'll never, ever buy another ... nah, just kidding. I don't have a problem with it, but it's a bit surprising.

How do I view documents with it? I can't run it, it's not in the app list.
And it's definitely not a part of Pure Google.

Huh. Wouldja lookit that. It's alive!
Nope. I don't want it. I'm not saying it is useless, but if I ever wanted to do stuff like that, I'd very much prefer Documents To Go, which I've known and used since it came bundled with my Palm Tungsten T3. ThinkFree? Never heard of it before I found it on my phone.
I'm still leaning towards the crapware label. It's not from Google, it's not part of standard Android, it's non-removable (unless rooted), it has limited functionality but it can be upgraded for a fee. Yes, that does sound familiar.

On the Nexus One?
lulz. n00bs. It's not crapware. All Androids had some sort of office file readers.
HTC Androids (including Nexus One) had QuickOffice. Samsung Androids (Including Nexus S) uses ThinkFree. Both are free versions and there are full paid versions on the Market.
It's inside the /system/app/ like mentioned. So it does NOT use user available install space.

...if it didnt have anything like that people would just complain
This thread is nonsense, just turn on any non nexus phone and you will see what crapware is.

Good point. I'm just a bit surprised, that's all. ThinkFree Office was put there by Samsung, and I thought everything to do with software was going to be Google, and Google only.

Yep thats all crapware especially touchwiz. Thats why people buy the nexus s. If you like it cool go to a touchwiz forum and have fun.
Aside from TouchWiz, you can't really call the rest crapwear when the Nexus comes with Facebook, Goggles, Twitter, etc

BECAUSE it's an office file reader that's built in.
Again, GOOGLE on the HTC NEXUS ONE (a PURE google device) includes QUICKOFFICE.

call me crazy but I don't think touchwiz is crap. Samsung actually did some cool things with it. I like how the notification panel has a power control widget integrated into it. Also the built in codec support is nice as well.
This is based on playing with touchwiz 3.0 for like five minutes lol.
pretty much anything that you didnt download and isnt included in vanilla android is crapware.
what's all the fuss about such a nice app?
if you don't like it, just uninstall it with Titanium Backup
it's so easy

My market has regressed to some old version??

Hey so something weird has happened. I turned off my phone and when I turned it on again my market seems to be a very old version... just totally randomly. It looks even older than what it was prior to the current update. Anybody know what has happened?

Oh wow. Actually it appears to be the new market. It's the same as this:

It does have kind of a 70s retro Brady Bunch/Partridge Family look and feel to it, and it does seem to suck much more than the "older" version, so... I can understand userno's confusion.

I don't know but the new market is WAY BETTER than old one.
Meh its ok. I have my DPI set to 190 so it thinks its a tablet... except it doesn't display properly. My Transformer and G2x markets looks the same however it still reads the device info from the build.prop so I'm not missing out on apps.
But what I don't like is that if I click on games and go to "Top Free", it only displays so many. I haven't really found an option to Browse All.
I liked the old version where I could just scroll through tons and tons of stuff.

Where are Google accounts stored in 7.0?

Seems like Google has changed how accounts are stored on the phone in 7.0. Backing up "Accounts" in Titanium Backup, which backs up accounts.db, no longer works. Seems that accounts.db no longer exists.
Anyone know where Google accounts are stored on the phone in 7.0?

It's being moved deeper to account for the upcoming new dual set up that allows for 2 of each partition. It will make restoring this kind of info almost completely impossible.

That will never completely happen. Open source is seen as a security threat to many companies. BB is dieing off and will soon be a software only company. Apple will always have a place due to their security as well as most people prefer something that just works. I cant say I blame them as I have thought about it myself and you would be amazed at how many Android devs use an Iphone as their daily device.

Customizing is great but gets old fast. I mean really how much time does one want to spend messing with their device. Take my device as an example. The home screen has not changed in over 8 months.

That depends on what you do with your device. I was just like you about 10 years ago. Always flashing and changing things up. Now I set my device and leave it. I just want it to work and have more important things to do then be messing with a phone. Like living life and see what is really going on in the world.

All it takes is taking a look around and realizing that life is passing you by. Or you could look at it as the push of smartphones is to keep people preoccupied so they don't see what is happening around them. Kinda like the Patriot act that was voted In because people were scared only to later realize that they signed their privacy away lol.

File location
I stumbled across this thread during my search, but while I found the answer somewhere else maybe it could help the next lost soul on it's search for revelation:
On Android 7, the accounts.db are now located on
/data/system_de/0/accounts_de.db And
/data/system_ce/0/accounts_ce.db
You'll need to copy both of the files to your new device, it worked for the most accounts. The only account I had to reconfigure was my email exchange
