Noob in dire need of quick help :) - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey guys!
I just finished flashing the Energy (SENSE 2.1/Titanium build 21898) rom using mskip's guide and got to this step:
5. Once phone finishes flashing and gets to the screen where it configures the stylus, HARD RESET
(hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER (center) Buttons, press the RESET button with the stylus tip, then release the RESET button but continue to hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until the reset screen appears)
>> I am currently on the align screen. Trying to do a HARD RESET on my HTC fuze isn't working at this point... and i've went far lengths to make sure i'm sequencing my presses correctly.
What should I do? Continue and align? or take out the battery (can't shut down any other way) and try turning on the phone using the HARD RESET?

ok pal. just to let you know they are super strict on the the forums here! lol
but hard reseting is not even necessary.. some people say it increases performance blah blah blah. i see no diffrence. so continue calibrating the scrren and enjoy the coolest rom for tp ever! nrg! yaya

You need to hold down both vol-down and the dpad button and while holding them down do a soft reset with the slylus. Don't release the first two buttons until the tri-color screen appears. Definitely do the HR.

OP,
Follow Farmer Ted's advice a HR should be performed as when you flash a ROM it isn't always written correctly to nand and you will notice half the people posting questions in ROM threads after a flash a HR sorts it, i notice this a lot since cook same as Farmer Ted

Tilt not working...sitting at Windows Mobile Screen

I did the Hard-SPL and followed the instructions to a T. The phone rebooted after the hards-spl and everything worked fine. I installed BlackBerry Connect to my device and it rebooted. Now it just sits at the windows mobile screen and won't proceed any farther. Anybody have an idea why? Or what I can do to get it working again? I did the HardSPL using windows XP and not vista.
When I enter the bootload this is what I get.
KAIS*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
Serial
Please help.
Anybody have any ideas?
Go to the wiki and look up how to flash from a microSD card, then flash a clean copy of whatever rom you had put on there so you can get a fresh start. Unless something is physically broken with the phone, that will save it. Saved me plenty of times.
Just had to do a hard reset. Fixed the problem. Loaded new HTC ROM everything is up and running.
How did you do the hard reset? I can't even get it to work. (hold right & left soft keys and press/release reset until some screen I never get)

all 3 actions must be at the same time and hold for 5 secs. if you get the short vibrate, just keep trying over and over. it wont hurt anything. at least it never did to mine.
Yep, you cannot install the BB connect software to the SD card & then reset. Your device will be looking for the BB connect software before the device SD card has booted & come online.
HOWEVER,
with SK Tools you can go into the startup folder & reorder the start up files. If you move BB Connect down to the end of the start up sequence it might work. Well, it did for me. Ylu have to go in after installing though, & before the reset & change the start up sequence down so that it's the last item to auto start.
You will have this type of problem with any program you install to the SD card where the program has a higher priority auto start because as I said before, you have an item trying to boot before it's operating files are available. Therefore, you stop the whole boot sequence because it can't move on to the next start up item without finding the start item it's looking for.
AS for the Hard reset. I find the easiest way to do this is:
1. Soft Reset.
2. while the device is soft resetting depress both soft keys.
3. When you get to the first boot screen depress the soft reset key & hold while simultaneously holding the soft keys.
4. follow the instructions on the screen, i.e. push send (green phone button) to restore, etc...
Works every time for me.

This is not random!
When I press:
RightSoft + LeftSoft it always works.
LeftSoft + RightSoft it never works.
Sequence is important. Not sure if it is left or right first though.
If other can confirm, could someone put it in the wiki, please. I've pulled a lot of hair over this topic.

that is to enter BootLoader NOT to start a Hard reset. when holding the power AND the camera button then resetting using the stlyus you should see the tri-color screen listing your SPL, Kaiser model, and one more thing i forget right now
EDIT - Make sure you are not pressing the ok button while going into BootLoader as the way the buttons are laied out its easy to press the ok by mistake.

Best way to install ROM

To flash then Hard reset then start setting up the ROM, or just flash and start setting up your phone.
What is the point of the hard reset after a flash of ROM?
Clean install. May just be my imagination, but I've had far better luck with ROMs when I hard reset after flashing...both other's cooked and mine - FWIW. Plus all the great chefs here seem to suggest it, which is enough for me.

One the flash has completed and you get to screen that says “Tap the screen to begin to set up your windows-mobile device” perform a hard reset.
To do this press & hold your left and right soft keys. Those are the key that are just above the Internet and Message button and push you stylus into the reset button. Hold this for about 3-5 seconds. A screen will appear that says “This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press send to restore manufacturer default or press other keys to cancel” If you want to continue hit the green call button.
Once the restore is complete press the green call button again and this will reboot your phone. If you want to cancel out of this press any other button.
This reason behind doing this is quite significant. If you do this you will have far less problems then if you do not do it. Trust me on this. This is a proven solution to a lot of problems that many users will face.
[size=+2]YOU SHOULD ALWAYS PERFORM A HARD RESET WHEN FLASHING TO ANY NEW ROM![/size]

Ran Flash-SPL and Unlock Radio - Pixelated Boot?

Hey guy,
Did I just brick my new Tilt? I downloaded the KaiserUnlock took with the nifty 3 steps button and ran the first two; after restarting from step 2 - after the AT&T bootscreen it's all just pixelated crap. It's obviously alive and active-sync's but I can't use it.
Can I recover from this?
Thanks!
Jeremy
Did you read the textbox that popped up on your screen before clicking the ok button? Because I think that will have your answer.
Ummm
The one that said are you sure? I can't do a hard reset because I can't read my screen to touch anything (and I think I need to for the hard reset?)
Ah Ha
OK, Apparently my fat fingers just had a hard time with the soft keys. Leave it to the fairer sex
Jeremy
Well..
ok the hard reset worked - it reloaded all the settings and then after it was done customizing everything it booted back up into pixel land?
Well
anyone? I'm frantic here

No. The one that said you may need to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 before continuing....
I'm assuming that you're using Olipro's kit. You really might want to read through that thread.
Thought about that
But I can't upgrade anything; it won't even active synch after the radio upgrade?
put your device in bootloader and flash from there
How do I force it into boot loader mode? Is there a keyboard combination?
Jeremy
why do you even jump straight into doing this without doing any research first??
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
look for kaiser resets, and whatever questions you have next, just read the upgrading section.
the straight answer
the straight answer is hold down power key and camera press reset button on bottom with stylus and hold to side keys till 3 graidents. plug in and upgrade to a windows mobile 6.1 rom. i did the same thing because i was rushing... sometimes you have to learn the hard way to read before you leap.
Heck I know that before I did anything that would have royally mucked up my $400 phone I wanted to make sure that I read everything I was going to do to it .... twice.
Bootloader
* Press and hold the Camera button
* Using a stylus, press and hold the soft reset button at the bottom of the phone
* Release both buttons once the bootloader screen appears
From wiki
PS Sorry, I did not read until the end of the tread.
Press and hold the camera button, then push the stylus into the reset hole near the USB connecter, while still holding the camera button.
*edit* Oops, missed the fact there was a page two, bit late on the details there..

No screen?

Hi all,
Perhpas this has been answered before, but I couldn´t find any related thread.

Hard Reset the device:
This will wipe all the storage (not the sd card) and your device will be reset to default settings.
Hard reset (option 1)
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Continue pressing the RESET, VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
Hard reset (option 2)
You can also use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
1. On the ?TouchFlo3D Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings or goto Start and press Settings.
2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.
Hard reset (option 3)
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. Turn device OFF.
3. While pressing the CENTER button, turn the phone on with the POWER button.
4. Continue pressing the CENTER button until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
This works on at least some Verizon CDMA phones on which option 1 will not work.
Hard reset (option 4)
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press and hold the POWER button.
3. Continue pressing the POWER, VOLUME DOWN, and CENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel. (works with Alltel touch pro)

Ok this is out of the wiki, u see that all methods let u press the vol up button to really start the hard reset than. So on either method do the key presses, wait a while and then press the vol up to start the process.
Its a little try and error because u are not seeing the the actual message to press the vol up. but mybe thats worth to try until u get the point. I think option 3 is a good and easy one.
hopefully the hardreset works, maybe u can try to take a torch or bright sun light to get the display information, if the display itself is not broke u should see a slight shadow of what is written on the display. I had that problem with my wifes phone once and the information was the but its not a reflective display so it was very faint to see.
Finally tho, if all that fails:
RMA = Return merchandise authorization
It means a warrenty return.
It sounds to me like the lcd has croaked. If you dont have suitable warrenty / insurance i'd suggest ebay! i've just found a screen & digitiser for less than £25 (thats for a Raph 100, i honestly dont know if parts are the same on different raph models but i suspect they are)
Good luck!
Thanks a lot guys but nothing worked
I cant do any hard reset option but sound stills hearing perfect
I can understand why one day was perfect and next no screen!!
Can anyone confirm that the LCD Display+Touch Screen For HTC Touch Pro T7272 form the last link will work on my At&t version?
Any other advice?

Sorry to hear that nothing worked.
Not shure but if the phone fails to hard reset it is not only the screen that is broken ! Take this into account, do u still have warranty, maybe it is better so exchange the whole phone.
Well that is the problem
I live in other country so warranty is not valid here, and there is not a single place where I can take it to repair here
Very strange as one day was perfect ant the next day no screen!!
I took the battery out and then place it again, all works normal, it starts (vibrations feels) then nothing!, I know its turned on because I can move volume up or down and I hear the sound and vibration, if open the keyboard not any light turns on on it.
I´ll wait patient till some member can recomend more options in order to make it work again.
I´m so frustrated...
Thanks anyway for your kind help!

Dont give up, hope that I not get on ur nerves. But still I think a hard reset must be possible.
When u turn ur device of how do you do that ? When u turn it OFF with the power button you have to answer a question on the screen, u do not see the question but is the touchscreen working or how do you know where the YES/NO field is ??
So another way is take the batt out, and when u insert the batt than turn it on with one of the mentioned hardreset procedures.
There is than a question also but this is answered with the Volume UP button.
Maybe u need a second person for helping with the buttons,
The hardreset must be possible somehow, it cant be a broken touchpro
OK I tried with my phone and procedure 1.
VOL DOWN and CENTER with Phone ON
Then Push RESET with the Stylus and hold all three until:
After 5 seconds the Bootscreen showed, after that the message to press VOL UP for Restore.
You do not see the boot screen but just wait the time
You are so kind my friend!
I have tested all the hard reset options but none seems to work
Aparently I can´t do a hard reset
as every time I follow any process and wait 5 sec, then press vol up and it seems that nothing has happened, not even a soft reset!
Pressed center button and vol down, then press the rest button located behind the usb port (the one with a symbol for headphones....)
But nothing happens.
I´lll upload a small video with me doing the process, hope it helps in anyway
Here the link of the video I took with my problem
https://www.yousendit.com/download/ZW9DQ3QxeWFEbUx2Wmc9PQ
Hope this helps in any clue to solve my mysterious problem
Thanks a lot!!
Ok will wait for the video.
Inbetween another option, did u try to flash the ROM.
Can u get a rom to download from ur provider, to do so ?
After the flash the device more or less does a hardreset.
Update:
saw the video, it seems that the phone is not reacting to the center or the reset button. Because when u push reset, even if it is not in hardreset mode, it should do a soft reset right away.
But ur phone is straight reacting to the Vol keys, very strange.
Is the mentioned ROM update an option ??
What is the reaction when u hock the phone to the pc, is active sync working ?
Do you see the internal memory of the phone ?
Remove the SIM and any memory card, maybe they are causing trouble ?
Exactly, Raphael is not reacting to a hard reset and dont know why?
I´ll keep trying all methods.
Yes, I´ll try to reflash to the original AT&T ROM for Fuze tomorrow as today I am not close to a computer.
If you have any link for that mentioned ROM would be great, if not no problem I´ll find it.
Once again thanks a lot and I´ll keep looking this thread in case someone else have another recommendation
Cheers,

UPDATE 2: I performed the wipe data from the device, this must be exactly as a hard reset I pressume, and nothing....
So now is there anything I can check to see if there is something loose in the connection from device to screen?
Any recommendations on how to do this?
signal from device working perfect simply does not come to screen or even to turn on light on keyboard
Any help is GREATLY apreciated!!!

Can't hard reset my Touch HD!

Hi. I flashed my Blackstone with no problem using this tut:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
I flashed it using HSPL with pdaviet rom (wm 6.5, manila 2.6) and then new radio (1.14 AFAIR)
The thing is, in this tutorial it says:
Code:
(HSPL4d) Hard reset afterwards. Once or twice- up to you. Twice has been recommended. Turn off your phone. I personally do it right after flashing completes and I see the "Smart Mobility" screen. I just yank the battery out instead of waiting for it to boot up all the way and go through customization process just to hard reset Hold the volume down button and volume up button while you press the power on button. You should see a message saying "This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer defaults, or press other keys to cancel." Do exactly what it says...
The thing is, I thought yanking the battery out can be done in the place of hard reset! So I just turned off my Blackstone after flashing, then turned on, and when in the "smart Mobility" screen, I removed the battery. I then repeat it once more.
So, the phone seems to be working really nice, but it's kinda sluggish - I tried gfxboost and driverpack beta2, and no changes. So I thought it could've been working better if I have hard-resetted it after flashing in the first place So, what do you think? Will re-flashing with the same rom and then hard-resetting make any performance difference?
And about the problem I have - I followed this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puL795s1bY4
But am totally unable to get into this hard reset screen. My phone simply loads and displays "smart mobility" screen, as if the volume buttons weren't pushed. And I am sure both of these buttons work! I have tried this multiple times, but to no avail. Can you help?
PS.: Ok, I get it. The way I did it is different than what the instruction states - I pressed VolUp,VolDown and then pressed Power repeatedly many times until I saw the hard reset screen. So, I ask once again - is it worth to flash once again? It doesn't work that bad. Definitely now slower when it was on stock rom, and much better than my friend's Omnia....
