The PSP is closer to a PS2 than a PSX/PS1. There's a MASSIVE difference in hardware and processing power between the two. I'd be ridiculously suprised to ever see a PS2 emulator on a HD2. In fact, the only reliable PS2 & PSP emulator that I know of is a PS3. That's a little bit more advanced than a HD2

good playyyyyyyyyy

PSP emulator is possible.
PSP games emulator is possible because PSP is not that powerful.
its CPU :333mhz (if u hack it and clock it)
graphics: HD2 has better graphics than PSP
RAM: PSP has 32-64mb of RAM and HD2 has 576mb of ram.
So the point is that i believe these is a possibility.
no for the PS2. no PS2 games are possible for the HD2 because of the graphics and also the CPU (well the CPU might be) but the graphics limits it.

LoL are you crazy guys you cant play playstation 2 on htc hd2 because for ps2 you need 3.8 dual-core cpu...htc hd2 have 1ghz cpu maybe you can play psp games but ima 100% sure you cant play ps2 games

NintendoDS Rom's porting on Android

Hi, exist something about porting of NintendoDS on Android?
With touch-screen will as have an real NintendoDS on hands
I doubt this, as DS emulators on PC are still very slow, nevermind a handheld.
Check out the gba emulator in the market and see how slow it is.
Ok, Understood.
I would buy the gba emulator, but in Italy, google haven't again issued the market to pay... :'(
Is a really sin...
god damn it
there is NO GBA emulator on the market! only an ****ing slow gbc one !
Let's try to focus on getting things like SNES(or hell, even NES) working completely before we try for the DS, mkay?
Well it is possible to get MAME (gameboy, nintendo, etc.. maybe even ps1) running ..
the arcade emulator is based on FBA which is based on MESS (just a guess, i dont know that4sure) and MESS is similar to MAME .. ^^
The DS utilizes a pressure sensitive screen while the Android uses a Compacitive(sp?) screen. I'm not sure how well this could be adapted to work for DS emulation.
Also, the G1 has 1 screen while a DS has 2....

Well but's that really no problem ..
G1 screen resolution is 320*480 while both NDS screen are 256 x 192 pixels
As u can calculae there would be still 64pixel vertical and 96pixel horizontal left ^^
yea but imagine how much time it would take to port and figure out.. then think about how NOT fun any emulator is to play on a phone when it stutters and stuff.. i mean the nintendo one didnt work good untill I clocked the phone to max.

[Request] PSX Emulator for Android

Hi guys, I was hoping we could get a project together to work on a Playstation 1 emulator for Android.
What I miss about my HD2 was FPSECE.
Something like this for us Android users (mainly snapdragon) would be awesome!
A paid app for it would be even better. (money going to whoever creates the app, not me)
Tell me your ideas on this!
+1 was thinking about this when i found at that the N900 had a PSX Emu, Chrome Broswer and Firefox :|
PSX Emu is on almost everythin except Android :/

How do you plan on controlling games?
I can't really see this being an enjoyable experience, unless you have a BT controller or something and you're sitting on a plane or bus where you can prop your phone up.
Iphone has it... wers its buttons ... as long as touchscreen buttons are correctly layed out across the screen it shud be fine. I dont find it hard to play the snes emu or any other emu on the nexus tbh
Also on the N900 they got the ps3 pad hooked up... maybe thats summet that can be done on android, now that would be...
I'm more interested in a n64 emulator myself.

Maybe somebody could figure or a way to connect a dual shock 3 via bluetooth. lol
I saw that someone managed to get the Wii controller to connect to the iPhone for playing games
This would be absolutely awesome!
Thanks for all the responses guys!
I think we cold make this or a N64 emulator happen for snapdragon devices.
For a physical controller:

bump. Let's get this thread going again!
I would personally love to see this happen and have loads of GI Bill money to DONATE toward the cause!

Maybe someone with C++, linux, and java can help us out
Has anyone tried contacting the developer of Fpsece or the developer of Psx4all? They might be able to help get a ps1 emulator for android.
Yes and was completely ignored...
this is a shame, with android becoming more and more popular, a KILLER app like this could change the tide faster. I hope some bright folks reconsider and make one.
Guys with the way the Nexus handles multi touch, PSX games would be near unplayable. Any game where you are pressing multiple buttons simultaneously will have a big problem translating over. Hell, this even applies to many of the SNES roms there.
sad news i was surprised on how well the hd2 handled it. damn do i miss playing psx on it
PSX emulator would be a waste of time, how do you expect to emulate 2 analog control sticks, 4 buttons and the R1/R2/L1/L2 buttons? Only very basic games would be playable.
Even playing PSX games on a PSP is difficult enough sometimes.

Also a PSP game

Is there a game on Xperia Play that also exists on PSP? I want to play multiplayer with a friend which owns a PSP.
Oh yeah, unfortunately Age of Zombies isn't multiplayer.
You can't play multiplayer with a PSP and an xperia play.

You can play KWAAK3 engine using Quake3 files and play against people online (including via LAN or hosted internet server) that are on PC and other devices that have had Q3 engine ported to it. The Q3 engine was opensourced by ID software (quite nice of them).

You can't play PSP games and you never will. The only way this will ever be possible is if they make another Xperia Play that can handle the power of processing a game of that magnitude.

No i very much doubt the play could directly emulate PSP games, my point is, the play has more than enough power to play thoes games natively, if they were ported to android Generally i think the rule for emulation is you need 5-10x the power of the device your are trying to emulate

Mhmyeah.
It would be cool if PSP developers would have a look at Xperia Play and make some PSP games compatible with it, maybe with lower graphics, it doesn't matter, but they still can make it!
Have a look at Dead Space. They did versions on several consoles and even on mobiles (currently only for Apple, but soon for Android). Dead Space for iPhone/iPad looks and feels almost as the PC version does, only it has lower graphics. It's not that hard, the only problem is lazyness here.
A good example is Age of Zombies, which surely makes more money on sellings due to the game being available both on PSP and Android phones.

I think you can kiss that dream goodbye. The play isn't strong enough to emulate a nintendo DS. plus, nintendo ds has dual screen. How did you intend to play that on your phone?
common sense please.
the play has much bigger chance of emulating Psp/GCube than NDS...that Dual Screen kills it e-zly
the play is strong enogh. The NDS is not more powerfull thzan the n64 and it is more easy to emulate becouse the ds has an ARM processor.
The NDS shouldn't be a big thing to emulate... But nintendo can get hostile towards much development on a console whose games are still in the market.
Bleem is the paramount case.

Yeah but still, how about the dual screens?
Im sure the play has enough screen space to accomodate 2 screens, also its touch screen which helps.
Havent looked into ds emulation for a long time, but the main problems were with a lack of gyroscope and microphone (all of which the play has). Am I missing something though? Why couldnt the play emulate both screens?

Thing is, the Playstation and its games were still selling well at the time.
Well of course you CAN do dual display on a single display, i'm not an idiot. But what I mean is that the screens will be pretty small, which i think would suck.. That's why i think the NDS emulator for the play is a pointless idea.
The only good solution i can come up with is if you could switch between the screens somehow. YOu have one screen at the time, in fullscreen mode. Then with the press of a button jump to the other screen.
I haven't played the Nintendo DS that much, so i don't know if you really need both screens at the same time at all time.

just look at old psp !
the cpu was poor , but all of us have seen that how Sony made big games with best possible and fantastic resolution on that. " like god of war - resistance ..."
i think our xperia play is strong enough to support NDS .

NDS cpu - WIKIPEDIA :
CPU: Two ARM processors

when psx released , on first step was something like current ver. of "tiger NDS " or " NDS4droid "
very slow ...
i think we can hope to improve that emulators. there are so many beauty games on NDS that worth to try for . ps1 games are good , but is better to play it on widescreen , home theater , ...
but NDS games are specially for little screen , 4 inc
i'm , personally eager to see and buy a prefect emulator for NDS .

what you have to keep in mind is that you need almost 12x the power of the **** you're trying to emulate. So if you are gonna emulate a n64, you need a computer with 12x much power.
and you mix up emulate and port. I think you can port really good quality games from lets say PSP to xperia play. But i don't think you can emulate it.

The 12x the power thing is debatable but is besides the point.
We do not need to emulate everything. The play already has the an arm processor. no need to emulate one of those. that saves us a lot of the processing power to emulate other things.

The N64 sports a 74mhz processor, faster than the NDS' 67mhz ARM. Since the Play emulates the n64 just fine there's no technical limitation in this respect.
Not to mention there's no consistent formula for judging the power needed for emulation.
There's no real reason you shouldn't be able to emulate the DS on our phones. Just not everyone will enjoy it. Me, I have a 3ds if I want to play the games, so I don't really care about the emulator either way

as i said before, i haven't played the NDS, so i don't know it's power. I thought it was better then Nintendo 64, but i guess i was wrong.
All that talk about 12x much power. That's just what i've learned from this forum reading the threads in the developers section.
The reason i'm not interested in a NDS emulator is the lack of a good solution for the dual screen.

The whole 12x more powerful thing is a bit iffy, the PSP is not 12x more powerful in specs than the N64 but it emulates it perfectly...

Emulators on cha cha

Hello to all!
I can see that nobody talk aout this.
Can you suggest some emulators for old consoles wich best suits this device?
I'm using some from android market but those do not have option to save game. That's bad, realy bad. You have to buy full version I guess to have that option.
All in all any sugesstion can help.
Oh, I tried to use snesoid, gamebod, gensoid... but they doesn' work. I'm found them on internet. they work great on my wildfire s but here is no go...
Boysi, a little bit off-topic, but do you think the Status' screen size is good enough to play PlayStation games using the PS Emulator (which has been banned from the market)?
For sega genesis, snes and game boy advance is big enough. I will try psx and than I can tell you.
btw Newer versions of Gameboid, Snesoid, Gensoid... are work great on this phone.

I'm using John NES Lite though and I am quite happy with it. I have Super Mario (old time classics, eh) only.
Gameboid, Gensoid, Snesoid, Nesoid... All works for me. Just try to find some new version. For Gameboid you need gba bios file. Just google it. You'll find it, I'm sure.

Apart from those emulators ScummVM works extremely well on my ChaCha. It sometimes takes me a blank screen when start-ups (only if RAM is low / very low!) but no game crashes whatsoever so far once loaded and I have tried the following games on it successfully:
Day of the Tentacle (CD version)
Beneath a steel Sky (CD version)
Sam and Max Hit the Road (CD version)
You may have to install plugins available on the playstore for some of the games to be supported!
Also try DosBox for older DOS games...still haven't used DosBox extensively yet to fully confirm how well it works for the ChaCha nut with my experience so far it works well (only a week or so trying it out)
