Hey guys I was just playing my PS3 and when I turned it on and realized, that the background for XMB is just like a live wallpaper! I have no idea how to make apps or anything of the sort, but who here would like to see something like this on your N1!?

Nice, but as reviewers stated, it eats Battery.
Maybe if we helped with optimization?

You can't really have it both ways...
You want something pretty that moves around and changes colors... then you have to accept that it might put a dent in your battery.
I've used it before, and I don't recall having THAT bad of a battery drain. Try it yourself and see how it does for you... you might find that it doesn't affect your battery life significantly.

Putting a dent is one thing, taking a chunk is another. I am not saying it's not worth it or anything, just stated that it does eat batteries. I installed it a while ago and recall that it did chew up the battery pretty significantly. Just remember that lighter colors (especially more to white) will eat more batteries on the display than darker colors.
I am sure there is a way to optimize it so that it can take less of a chunk of battery. May not be able to have both, but there has to be a way to meet more int he middle.

Nah, I want the fireflies (or whatever they are) that float around the PS3 theme.
Yea....I've been looking for the PS3 background as a live wallpaper forever. That would be sweet. With the flashes would be really cool.

Try this!
Try Quads live wallpaper, search it in the android market website!!
It has the PS3 looking mode! It hasn't the stars floating (what they are?!?) but, hey... it has the PS3 Classic live wallpaper!
Why don't you try the live wallpapers from Xperia play?

Are there any news?
hat would be real nice, black with red waves
The real issue with a PS3 live wallpaper is that the images from a PS3 are entirely encrypted. Since no one has been able to crack the systems encryption it would be impossible to create a real live wallpaper. Your best hope is a cheap knock-off.

Well for one thing it is much easier to quickly glance at a watch then to have to dig your phone out of your pocket, bag, desk, or where ever you have it safely tucked away at.
from what i remember STORM London used to have that kind of futuristic ****ed up designs got some watches from there but cant realy recommend since customer support and/or warranty conditions are like next to none. But should do as for the looks.
As mad as it sounds touchscreen is pretty rare where I'm going. I have an older phone I'll be using where I can but I got a feeling I won't be able to resist getting my i9000 out on the subway etc
I just wondered if you got any ideas on how to make it look ugly, unattractive and less valuable? I find this a bit harder with a touchscreen phone.
Dutch tape it whole phone Leave only touch screen. Also you can tape screen with clear tape, but do it ugly way
You can always get a rubber case or other protector and make it look damaged, dirty, etc., some kind of a broken screen wallpaper would work too, and turn the brightness down so the light will be less noticeable
Put it next to a laptop....
Just be careful.

I'm just curious, where will you be traveling ? maybe I can give some good advice based on that.
BR
I also travelled to a third world country with my sgs.
So what did I do: I bought a cheap handy with sim-card there and left my sgs hidden back at the hotel.
You can't make it look cheap, cause you will always have a touchscreen and the others don't...if you don't want to buy another handy, then just buy a ugly case that makes your handy huge (like these "additional battery" cases...) and duck tape your screen. I think that makes it really ugly

yeah I think I'm gonna have to give up on gps males and go back to paper maps and a compass.
I have a £15 Vodafone. its rather good! battery lasts longer, physical keyboard, opera and email! but no Google authenticator or offline maps... or passworded bit. damn shame it doesn't have name to get around all that otherwise it would be perfect.
yeah tho, can't hide that touchscreen. its kind of a cheap phone these days but plenty enough for a mugging.

I have a zagg screen protector & a case on mine and that alone makes it look pretty ugly. Make a few mistakes when installing the screen protector and it'll be extra ugly!

Hi all,
I'm continuing to keep myself busy creating more custom watchface designs whilst I'm in between jobs and am keen to get your feedback on the following animated gears/cogs watchface design that I created. I'm quite happy with the end result and am keen to make some more but before I invest more time in them I'd like to know what you think? I believe it's the first of its type for the Sony SmartWatch 2 as it runs as a proper low-power enabled watch/clock widget rather than an app.
Video of the animation (only whilst the screen of the watch is on):

No links posted as it will be one of my paid watchfaces as I've spent a lot of time working on this one (...and I don't have a job at the moment so every little bit helps...)
All feedback welcome! (don't forget to vote in the poll at the top of the page)
Excellent work dude. Marvelous Would you be able to make the watch face little smaller at the bottom or on the top so that other widgets like battery and weather can also be added or is it easy to embed them in your watch face?

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I've had this type of feedback from a few people about all of my watchfaces. Unfortunately with the relatively low resolution of the Sony SmartWatch 2 screen (220x176) it doesn't do well in displaying my watchfaces when scaled down to smaller sizes. Even when it takes the full 5x5 grid I need to do a lot of tweaking to get it to display clearly to make the watchface actually functional (i.e. you can read the time and the date). In terms of embedding widgets into the watchface - this isn't something that I know how to do as it is beyond my technical coding capabilities. For the meantime I suggest that people install the hack so that they can overlay other widgets on top of the watchface.
Originally I felt that it would be cool to have lots of the widgets on my watch, but after a while I realised that I didn't really need them as I could always turn the watch on to access the apps. I found that they cluttered the screen and detracted from being able to see a nice watchface design. That's why my watchface designs are based mostly on utilising the full 5x5 grid size.
Thanks for the immediate response dude. After reading your message, I now started to realise that I don't really use all the widgets as you said. All we need is a good looking watch face that make our watch looks great and is not memory or battery hungry. I will look forward to see the final version of your watch face to buy. Good luck with the project.

Hi, no unfortunately not else that would open a lot of opportunities. It's manually coded in to rotate the gears.
That's great idea :good:
let me guess, you've used the seconds view to make the gears movable

Yep exactly right! You can potentially use this technique to do other types of animation.
Seems pretty neat dude, Ill definitely have to check this out
Like it, I'd purchase but it would have to look bigger. Wouldn't be interested in using any widgets with that watch face so make it bigger. Lose the border & push it out to the edges of the screen & you've got a sale.
Julian, great design, just purchased design #1, which was my wife and daughter favorite. One request? Would it make the hour and minute hands easier to see with a bit darker outline? I realize complications like open face are usually harder to read and the SW2 screen isn't very sharp by design, but it may still make it easier to see the hour and minute hands to tell time. Just a thought, and again, thanks for making the watch even better!

When you say lose the border, do you also mean the border that currently has the roman numerals in it? I can make the hour markers float on top instead...

Hi, I haven't yet worked out how to do digital watchfaces yet. It's on my to-do list so don't worry it'll come eventually
My god, even the leaked Lollipop beta is insanely fast (for TouchWiz, anyway xD).
But that UI color scheme is making me consider poking my eyes out.
Bright f***ing green/cyan and goddamn white in the dialer and the settings! What the s**t, Samsung?!? Let's not mention how much AMOLEDs can suffer when showing white for a prolonged time...
Learning to code or theme will take me months I don't have (unless I'm just dumb and it is actually a lot easier than that and will get flamed for being yet another damn n00b), but is there any easy way to theme the leaked Lollipop build in darker colors that don't gouge out the eyes?

One possibility is to invert the screen with root and the matching app. Have a look at the Play Store for that.
But to stay at your basic question. I also thought that, after installing Lollipop. Everything very bright and things. I thought my battery life would be very ugly, especially in comparison to CM, which I had as a previous ROM on my device. As a matter of fact, reality proved me wrong. Battery life is insane. Nearly two days under medium to heavy usage. That's okay. And to have some words about the AMOLED lifetime thingy... Maybe - and only maybe - the lifetime of single AMOLEDs will decrease, but that's the same your battery lifetime would decrease. Sooner or later your battery will die and so will your display. But neither in the period you have your phone, nor in a maybe following period of second possession. So don't waste your time thinking about that.
BTW you also don't have settings, phone app,... open and the screen on the whole day.

It's still annoying. xD The phone looks like a control panel from some spaceship, but you turn it on, and all that green s**t hits you right in the optic nerve.
I know, I gotta be patient if I can't code, but still... xD
So you say an app can enforce the inverted colors on per app basis?

As far as I know there are no apps, that would do that on a per-app basis. Only those that do it overall the whole OS, like it was implemented for some time in Gingerbread.
am not really bothered about the white background considering how much little time I spend in it.
You dont need root for inverted colors.... just go to setting/device/accessibility/vision and tick negative colors.
Done!

I think you have to ask it to Google.
Lollipop has been made white, Samsung is forced by user (that will complain for the "too-much-white" and also for the "white-is-better-so-i'm-not-buying") to implement it as-google-told...

+1 on both of the two previous posts! Google Daydream works well, but the phone certain does get hot!!
A few other points:
Make sure to take off mods to reduce weight. I usually keep the Battery mod on my phone 24/7, but take it off for VR. Granted, the loss of more battery stinks with doing VR, but the weight savings makes it much more comfortable to wear.
If you've purchased any movies/shows in the google play store, you can open them in Youtube under the "purchases" link on the left on a computer. Once you've opened them, they show up as recently viewed items in Youtube. This means you can use YouTubeVR to view them. What's nice about this is with YoutubeVR, you can re-position the screen to pretty much any angle, so you can lay down on the floor or bed and watch a movie/show.
