vocal sms composing? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a software that allow to compose a sms without using the keyboard on the HD2.
There is something free or pay?
Something like Shout Out for iphone...
Thanks

Do a search for TellMe.

Does it work on the HD2?

TellMe does work, I installed it last night.
I was just about to make a thread on this very topic. I was wondering if there was anything available similar to the voice dictation thing that Android has. I used a Hero for about 2 days & that's the only thing I really miss about it now.

You need to install microsoft voice command first as it uses this to recognise your voice. But you are correct in assuming is is US only, it has trouble understanding any other accent.
In writing this I have just had the thought that as it uses MVC as the underlying software perhaps you can install the british/french/german version of MVC and see if TellMe then responds in these languages.
What nationality are you?, it would be worth giving that a go if you are french or german and would also bring some usefulness to this thread as your original question has been answered a few times before. (use the search )

In got my VOX today and I have some questions about it..

Well, I bought my vox today.
And it is really cool.
There are a couple of Questions I couldnt fix with the Help File.
For example, at the Home Screen on the Bottum you see: Start and Contacts.
Is there a way to change Contacts to Message or Send Text Message or something like that?
Also, I installed:
http://www.trianglepowers.com/PPC/ViewApp.aspx?ID=56
The install was alright but it doesnt work.
I don't see the Memory Bars on my screen? Do I have to enable that somewhere?
Also I've got a couple of questions about Specific software that I seem not to be able to find.
I think I should post this in a Separate Topic but I dont want to spam the Entire forums full, so i'll ask here
Has anyone made Scapy work on there Smartphone? Using PythonCE?
Also has anyone tried Super Puzzle Turbo Fighter ][ Java on there VOX System?
Since its not meant for it. But I think It should work. Though if it doesn't and I bought it. Well thats just a waste of money..
Is there anyone who used MiniStumbler on a SmartPhone? Since I can only find it for Windows Pocket PC?
And my last Software Question is:
MARS - [Memory Array Redcode Simulator, a machine that simulates a Corewar battle]
is a Programming game?
Is there a port for it in SmartPhone? Since else I should make it myself ^^
Well, I asked a LOT of questions. I hope nobody thinks I am a Leecher
Thanks already!
Cheers,
Robin
I'll answer the questions I know answers to and tell you that if you search you will find an answer, so here goes;
1). Yes. Search XDA for "Soft key changer"
2). That application is for PocketPC, it will not work properly on your Vox which is Smartphone/Standard.
3). Scapy does not work, as far as I am concerned PythonCE for Smartphones is a kludge.
4). There is a Java VM called Esmertec jBed. It should be able to run Super Puzzle Turbo Fighter just fine provided the resolution is within the Vox limits.
5). MiniStumbler does not work on the Vox, however WiFiFoFum does, it is completely free and has the same features.
6). MARS, there is no Windows Mobile or even CE port/release of this.
1). Yes. Search XDA for "Soft key changer"
Thank you!, I didnt know what to look for but now I do ^^
2). That application is for PocketPC, it will not work properly on your Vox which is Smartphone/Standard.
Ah, ok thats why I didnt work. But ofc tht is quite logical. I thought that didnt make a Difference if it was the Home Today Screen..
3). Scapy does not work, as far as I am concerned PythonCE for Smartphones is a kludge.
Ok, well thanks.
I am going to write something like this myself then. If it's done I'll post it here.
4). There is a Java VM called Esmertec jBed. It should be able to run Super Puzzle Turbo Fighter just fine provided the resolution is within the Vox limits.
Ok, thats GREAT! I am going to get myself a Copy right away!
5). MiniStumbler does not work on the Vox, however WiFiFoFum does, it is completely free and has the same features.
That other program is fine aswell. Just wanted to find WifiNetworks. ^^
6). MARS, there is no Windows Mobile or even CE port/release of this.
I found a fix. PocketDOS!! ^^ I just run it on Dos.
Thanks for all this, your a great help =)
Cheers,
Robin

Tellme for wm6.5

hi,
just saw this software that will be available for wm6.5.
its a voice activating software (sent texts, make calls etc with voice commands)
www.tellme.com
i think its a sub company of microsoft making it.
it says its going to be available through wm marketplace for wm6.5 phones, but cant see why it wont run on other wm OS's.
anyone got a beta of the software? or any other info
Nice site.. Lets wait and see how nice the program would be..
How it is different from MS Voice Command ?

you can search the net for items and places with a voice command (eg. starbucks or ipod etc)
u can also write texts and send them using your voice.
i think it is the evolution if the ms voice command software (microsoft trying to interwine software together and changing the name so that it seems like something fresh and new).

Read the link it does all that and more.
Are MS ever going to release this then?
TellMe was (I believe) a separate company working on this snazzy voice control software, and I believe MS snatched them up to use as a replacement for MSVC going forward.
"Tellme" is certainly a snappier name than "Microsoft Voice Command." It actually looks like Tellme combines MSVC with the voice controls of the Bing app. I wonder how much overlap there will be.
Tell Me is part of the Samsung Intrepid WM 6.5 ROM. Would be great to be able to install that on my phone. Anyone up for the challenge?
hmmm would really like to install this... any1 with an interprid that would let someone here get the app. dont kno how its done but im sure the smart guys here do

Ditto.
Would love to get my hands on that cab.
TellMe
Tellme's primary business is in enterprise IVR systems and Voice enabled CRM and such. The TellMe Mobile apps including the WN6.5 client and the BB client as well at the 555-tell all agregate the voice samples collected during use to make the voice recognition part of their software more acurate and reduce the need for programming.
Seems pretty ingenious and gives Tellme a huge chance to be a great voice app unlike some apps that leave me screaming at my phone like some crazed person. While it again dials some completely random number from my phone book.
I hope that this exclusivity for the intrepid is short lived.

Dont I wish....so for just reading the site abunch goping for someone with access to the right phone.
on a seperate note all these exlusive deals tick me off. They should just post the app in marketplace and be done with it.
All we need is a ROM dump from the interpid, and we should be able to pull it out and create a cab. However, the phone isn't available yet so we will have to wait a bit longer.
Someone with a Samsung Intrepid needs to port it for us.
yes please
You can get it now, well according to their site, however Im in the uk and thus I dont think i will work for me!....
http://www.tellme.com/you/get
How frickin' insulting!!! Right now, on AT&T, T-Mobile & Verizon it's only available on Blackberry devices! And on Sprint, it's all Blackberry except for one WM device - the Intrepid!
WTF, Microsoft?!
Package here.It doesn't understand a touch screen, but it seems to work.
Hey guys, since I'm such a 1337 H4x0r I managed reverse engineer the installer from PPCGeeks to find out where the installer got the .cab from. Well, it paid off and I found the .cab straight from the site, and you can download it from: http://m.tellme.com/windows_mobile/TellmeSamsungIntrepid3515.cab. It still doesn't work on my Rhodium, but I figured I'd post this anyway, so you don't have to go to download from PPCGeeks or if you wanted a .cab file instead of the installer.

The latest Bing App is [email protected]!

Don't bother to upgrade to Bing 5.0.11249.0: it is pure bling. They have made the interface "prettier" but took away alot of the functionality. Not only does it not give proper "live" feedback for turn-by-turn directions, a good part of the map is covered by icons that you can't move, especially in landscape mode. Movie and other searches are also far more tedious.
This is definitely a downgrade. But why?! Google has upped the ante on GPS software and it looks like if MS has folded. Come on, guys - get real! Fumbles like this one will surely doom the windows platform!
I unfortunatly agree with you
The graphics face lift is welcome, but everything else is crap.
I agree too.
Me too... One of the best functions of the old version was the ability to SMS the search results to someone... cant do that.
It also shuts off the screen... even if you're in GPS mode. Cannot do long/lat as before, doesnt tell how many sats you're seeing... it is exactly what you guys said... crap.
I thought I had a copy of the latest old build somewhere but I dont... anyone care to help?
Found the old one... "Normality has been restored"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4012497
Because of this things that I like sites that archive old versions. Like OldVersion
Go to m.bing.com and follow the links to the older versions and choose either the WM5 or the WM6 version, not the WM6.1 or 6.5.

Great find!
Thanks!
trudat,
but what do you guys think about the voice recognition?
I think Windows Mobile Marketplace still has the old version. The old version is 4.x, the new is 5.x
I could be mistaken but I think the voice recognition engine is the same in the old version and new version. I didn't have any issues with 4.x voice recognition.
It could also be the fact that 5.x is in beta. I would give MS the benefit of the doubt, they are trying. I would use the Feedback option in Help to give MS some constructive criticism
VR seems to work the same. No major improvements there. I hope this beta will lead to something else more significant, but I'm not holding my breath.
I never really used the voice recognition cause it never really worked too well. I let my fingers do the talking
Que?
On my Kaiser it works fine for a while like for many people, and then suddenly says my Phone isn't supported. WTF? But OK, I too will happily downgrade, as it really doesn't appear to be any better than the previous version. I'd beg to differ with those who say the speech recognition doesn't work though. I find it one of the best things about WLS/Bing. It works absolutely amazingly well. But then you do need to speak clearly. I use it with a BT headset too, great results.
Yeah, despite apparently working fine, it quits automatically on my Kaiser saying it isn't supported. Oh well.
Played around with a bit on a coworker's TP, and it's definitely a mixed bag. It's very nice-looking, and I'm impressed how it integrates Bing's "pic of the day" styling. Really nice-looking.
It is definitely less functional in many ways. The gas price finder never worked for me anyways (prices were never up-to-date and correct around here), but the theatre listings would definitely be missed. Luckily there's other apps for that.
It IS, however, better for web searches. In fact, it's surprisingly useful for web searches, since it seems a little snappier than using bing.com (or google.com, for that matter) in the browser. Hopefully MS tacks some of the better local search functions back on.

Why no answering machine for wm ???

Hi,
I am wondering why there ain't any working answering machine's for wm yet ? iSecretary was one which I guess is not working in wm6.5. Does anyone else know more about it ? I understand it might be duplicate thread, but since there's no latest posts on any of them I opened up new one hopping to catch eyes of u ppl....
Actually, there is an answering machine. Its awesome too. I got it free from my carrier. If I don't answer my phone after like 4 rings, it picks up and takes a message for me. Then, after it beeps and lets me know theres a message, I push a few buttons and a can listen to them. Then I can delete them, and start all over!
I can't seem to remember what its called though. Hmm....
Maybe someone else can help me with figuring out the name of this?
Wow, never thought about this, this would be really nice. It would be a good way to get voice mails recorded since it would be locally stored and not server stored like voice mail. I'd really like to know if their is one in circulation.
Edit: Apparently it's impossible due to hardware limitations of HTC phones, and seems Gigabyte's phone is the only one that can do it. More information here.
guess the reason for lack of more options is that most operators today offer answering machine at the operator end so it works even if the phone is off
like I mentioned already iSecretary worked fine until wm6.5 even in HTC. I used it in my HTC Fuze with wm 6.1. But it doesn't work in wm6.5. I don't know why. My operator doesn't give such voice message service for free. I am searching for a software like iSecretary that works with wm6.5.
seems nobody is interested in my post ???
Use google voice then, it's free and works when your phone is off. Since your provider doesn't give you voicemail, you should be able to use GV as your voicemail provider - heck, Sprint gives me voicemail for free, but I still have GV setup as my primary voicemail. For free, Sprint has a deal with Google.
you could try YouMail.com, i have it and its free for the basic service which is voicemail. you can customize the voicemail greeting also, its great, i get a laugh everytime....
both YouMail.com and Google Voice doesn't support my country yet. Is there any software that works like answering machine ?

Ah... yea I guess I take for granted the fact that all these new services seem to always get piloted in the US of A. Sorry... I don't know of anything else :S
Doesn't anybody give interest to make an answering machine like iSecretary ?
I too would like an answer-phone software & I'm surprised HTC never made the most of this issue & resolved the hardware problems & bundled an answer-phone software of it's own.
G-Smart done it back in WM5 times & it was a good tool & marketing niche.

Offline voice recognition

Is there an application that is similar to Google's voice actions application, but offline, for when I don't have service?

Hello girls and boys,
Like you, I was yesterday looking for this frantically as I have just got an Android device as my work mobile and have an old Windows Mobile 6.5 phone (Touch Pro2) as my personal mobile which runs Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 and can do quite a bit without needing to touch the handset (illegal whilst driving in the UK). I have to say; I was finding it difficult to believe that with all the awesome power of a Desire S when compared to the TP2, why is it I can't find an offline voice command application? Google's Actions are great yes, but does it REALLY need server side processing for these commands? I then came across a forum where someone suggested Vlingo and no-one really acknowledged the post. What a great app! Totally free, works with bluetooth headsets and actually does speech to text as well WITHOUT needing to be online.
I suggest you guys take a look as it seems to be a great piece of software that's pretty well written. http://www.vlingo.com
