decided to hard reset gf's stock unrooted droid charge and received the EE4 update
and yes!!!!
browser lag is gone! even with stock browser, i can play music in background, have wordfeud running and browse full flash sites with desktop view with no lag
4G signal is also improved!
now im just waiting for devs to release the rooted verison
thanks Samsung!
Awesome. Good to hear.

Definitely appreciate your impressions... it's great to see Samsung notice these problems.
Like you, I'm also waiting for a rooted version
Thanks for the impressions.
I really want this incorporated in the new gummy rom!
How is the Qaudrant score? I wonder how they fixed the browser lag? Do you think they changes the file system to EXT4 from RFS (ala Voodoo)? Maybe they put the browser on the SD card?
This is exciting

I dont have the update yet but would also like to know if the quadrant scores improved...
I updated to EE4 this morning and the phone definitely feels faster, especially the browser. But when I ran the quadrant app the score didn't really change. I was completely stock before with the ED2 update and my score was typically around 930 and after I updated I've gotten and average of 945 after 10 runs.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
So they didn't change the file system. That seems obvious from the low quadrant score.
I wonder if it's necessary to use the voodoo lag fix with the improvements of EE4. I would like to see how the new EE4 stands up to a device with the voodoo lag fix from ED2.
anyone know of a good place to read about what exactly is in this EE4 update? Thanks
Edit## Bump. Found a good place
I installed EE4 update and the browser is much smoother than Voodoo lag fix on ED2.
So I haven't even bothered with Voodoo lag fix. The browser is nice and smooth. I think even the launcher is smoother than Voodoo lag fix in ED2.
I also wanted to report the GPS seems to be much better. Before EE4 I was not able to get a GPS lock inside my house, it would say "location unavailable". Well, coming from an HTC phone that would get 5 feet accuracy while in the middle of my living room, I was not happy. However with the EE4 it now locks in my living room with a 19 foot accuracy according to GPS test But.. the same HTC phone still locks faster and has higher signals from the same satellites, but at lest its progress!!
Quadrant scores mean nothing. If you want higher scores with the Charge just convert to ext4 using voodoo.

Definitely impressed!!
Everything is so fast and silky smooth....... and the battery life is amazing, like twice what it was before !!!!!

I temp-rooted my Sensation and disabled all of the bloatware, but aired on the side of caution with stuff I wasn't sure about, so there may still be a few things that could go. I also used Startup Auditor so that no unnecessary apps run at boot, but even then, there's some I'm not sure about so I let them be.
Running Sense with no lwp, on a fresh boot, the max memory I ever have available is >180mb, after using it for a few hours I'm normally running around 110mb. I don't really believe in using task killers, as everything I've read said Android handles it on its own and it only waste battery and more memory to kill the tasks.
As most know, when the phone begins to run low on resources, Sense will reboot. So quite often throughout the day, Sense reboots on me. This also happens almost every single time I play a game like Grow or Cut The Rope..
So how much memory do you guys typically have available on a fresh boot? After hours of usage? Any Sense reboots? Any tricks you use?
This should be interesting to hear what others are running at!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I haven't removed any bloatware yet. Max I've had has been 310 free. The one shown on "Running Services", not the Task killer included.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Nice one! I use System Panel and the incl Task Killer to see avail memory and they are always the same reading, right now 127 but within Running Services it shows 223mb available...I wonder why the difference.
I feel a little better now, but still wonder why Sense always reboots itself if I have that much memory available...

Haven't killed anything manually, ES File Explorer is running in the background, something is being synced over WIFI, 304 MB available.
By the way - this is on the updated version (1.35.00) and haven't checked the same scenario pre updating.
Updated version? Are s-off or outside the US?

About 296 mb free.

Wonder why the used and free combined come out to about 512. . . Don't we have 768?
Ps. This is in Running Services. Doesn't seem like it's anymore accurate than the window shade.
Nothing removed and running ADW since HTC doesn't know how to optimize there UI and I always have 302 available.

After using Eugene's 7/9 temp perma-root, I was able to get 397mb free. (Had 410mb before I launched drocap2)

Typically 110 MB. Today, after running Youtube/Browser and then closing them, I got 150. Dropped down to 140 again quickly however. Never had more... How do you guys get 300?! Disabled Sense?
I get around 290-305 free ram. I disabled alot of apps. System runs smooth. I'm actually running ADW EX and disabled com.HTC.launcher also. Is Checking Ram here in running services accurate?

Don't use the built-in task manager to check free ram. Use "running services".

I haven't frozen any bloatware apps either. They aren't really bothering me. Just wish I could use setCPU. I'm hovering around 400mb, but I also don't have a ton of apps.

Max i had is 149 out of 558... I am so curious why the total is 558 instead of 768??? but i have never had sense rebooted even after couple of 720p mkv, playing games, web surfing...
About 340Mo after a fresh reboot and after manually killing all the unnecessary tasks (reader, tutorial, messaging, etc)
I've noticed that after about 48h of use, I can't get more than 240Mo after killing the same background tasks.
The worst I've seen was 70Mo after killing all tasks and 2 days of heavy use, it definitly needed a reboot ^^
If you haven't already heard about it.. 'SEEDER', new amazing App. Made my phone a good 3x faster. If you are rooted it can be found in the app store. I flashed the .ZIP. You can find it online here. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/0...n-nexus-7-and-others-with-seeder-application/

Yes I know this should be in apps and themes but everyone deserves to see this, especially us Tbolt guys.
This has been proven to be a placebo affect. I have tested it for almost 3 days now and it doesn't really help at all. Also someone mentioned in that forum it doesn't work properly with snapdragon processors because the rndg is different than others. If it does help at all I think it would help more for the lag that comes from not rebooting for a long period of time.

I have been using it with unsense and it hasn't really improved anything. No difference in performance without it either. Like I said it's a placebo caused by the fact that the tweak actually wakes your processor repeatedly which is why your phone seems to react better. You can use it if you like but it is really just a battery drainer. You can get the same performance increase by setting your governor on performance.

I ran it on nu sense and it drained my battery and noticed no improvement in speed. You see an increase because you want to see an increase. Its like throttle body spacers people puts on their cars. Suppose to improve performance and increase fuel mileage. They do no such thing but make a nice paper weight. People who had them swear they could feel an increase. One guy put his truck on a dyno and tested with it on and with it off. His results was with it on he lost a few hp. This is why butt dynos are so inaccurate because we make our selves believe we can see and feel a difference. When in fact there isn't.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post. It cause a wake lock on the processor making it wake repeatedly which is the likely reason that anyone notices anything. It in no way shape or form affects entropy which was the original intent of the app. Google has also stated that the very issue this is supposed to fix was actually fixed with the release of ICS. Try it on a gb rom and see if it actually works. Also, after you run it for a few days disable it and see if there is a decrease in performance. I've ran it for about three days and there is no difference without it running.

Google devs have stated that there was an issue with entropy in gb roms so there is no doubt that it probably helps it.

I have installed Seeder on my Gingerbread (SkyRaider Zeus) Thunderbolt and 4.2.1 Galaxy Tab 10.1.
In neither case has it improved speed, launching or operations.
I wanted to believe. In my testing, i call it wishful thinking.
I have noticed (since today this is happening to my device) when i start up a game, it runs very smooth. But after a while it begins to stutter and it is just not playable anymore.
I play real racing 3, i have seen videos on youtube where they are playing this game on ultra high quality and it runs smooth, but on my nexus 5 it is laggy and not fun to play.
What can cause this problem? This never happened before till today.

It might just be thermal throttling. Let the phone cool down a bit and try again later.
Thank you for your reply, i will try again tomorrow then. But i hace a feeling thay it will comeback because my nexus gets a little hot while playing heavy games

Wrap it in a shirt, throw it in the freezer. Try to get it to like 20 degrees Celsius (use CPU z app to check temp) then play the game. If it still lags, then you can confirm its not thermal throttling.

Hi,
You have a quadcore phone running at 2,26 Ghz (ok, not all the time but...), enclosed and without a cooling system, so when you play an heavy game "for a while" expect some heat then thermal throttling... (the CPU freq decreases according to the CPU/battery temp, maybe the GPU freq too but I'm not sure about that) so you can have at a certain point some FPS drops... Nothing more. And in a game it's not only the GPU that plays its role but also the CPU.
If you don't want to root (at least unlocked) there is nothing to do (like decrease the max CPU freq to limit the thermal throttling, undervolt, or tweak the thermal management), maybe trying to play less longer? Have you some "huge" apps running in background? You don't play while charging your phone?
Thank you for your reply! Before all this i could play deadzone 'shadowgun' for like 1hr without any problems.
Now i cant play any high quality games for 5 minutes because after the 5 min it starts running laggy. That is what i found strange
Its very sad because i see videos on youtube where they play on hughest graphics with real racing 3 and other high end games. And mine cant even run smooth for 5 mins.

In any case I don't know a single game with a solid and constant FPS..., for me nothing wrong with your phone, try a factory reset to see...

Nope, or at least it could confirm thermal throttling that's all, full stock you should score about 28 000-30 000...

Also you should be mindful of the heat coming from your phone. You say you can play games for hours in the past. I know after 1 level of dead trigger can have my phone @ 105 degrees easy. I can't imagine playing for a hour straight with ultra settings. Heat is the biggest enemy to your CPU and Battery.

The real question is why not? LOL. Honestly though I just like finding new things to do with my phone and coming from a locked Galaxy S4 I have to say I'm enjoying the amount of things I can do with this device that I couldn't on the S4. The extra 600MHz was because I was hoping it would drop any chances of lag with my favorite apps & Xposed which always seems to cause a delay or two for me. On the other hand I like squeezing what I can out of it. Same with my Desktop too, get maximum stable over clock and stick with it. ;D. If there's some downsides such as life shortage feel free to mention it though because I'd rather know early on than when it's too late. Sorta the point of this thread

I've got my i5 2500k overclocked to 4.3 GHz now stock voltage . As for life shortage its hard to say. I would monitor temps on stock vs over clocked and compare. As long as it doesn't get considerably warmer which for mobile would be 10° more or less you should be fine

Well with normal use it gets like 40-55 C (CPU) and during an Antutu benchmark just at the beginning it hit 75C sooo not very happy with that.... especially considering that's in the highs for a lot of desktop processors, can't even imagine how bad that must be for a phone processor LOL. It was @2.803 MHz with voltage of "1130" & ondemand governor. Not so sure as to what "1130" is based on though as I'm new to mobile over clocking, guess I'll figure it out tomorrow!
Edit: Forgot to include that just a few minutes ago I flashed a new kernel due to some random lag, old one never hit above 50 even on tests (with intelliactive). Also using ondemand/interactive now. Gonna re check the differences on those two governors tomorrow and decide which one I wanna go with! : D
