The topic title is the question. I tried looking online but there is no Language and Keyboard option under settings on this phone.
I'm interrested too, thanks
Bring up my post.
Can anyone help me?
I am not sure what You really meant, but I would get HistoryEraser from android market, let me know how it goes.

I probably should have included the word "dictionary" in my post.
I added some words to the stock android keyboard's dictionary so it would remember things like "haha" instead of correcting it to Bahamas (true story, try typing "haha" with the stock keyboard). I also added a lot of crap just to test out the adding feature and now I want to delete them from my dictionary. I don't know how to though.
Hi, I found this
Maybe it's what you are looking for
Hope it helps
That was actually exactly what I was looking for. Haha, thanks.
Yeah, I probably should've explained my question a little better, but in the end we got the answer. Thanks again.
The stock reader used to allow me to touch and hold on a word to launch the dictionary, but it seems no longer able to?
This function was definitely there and it is stated in the manual as well. Is anyone else facing this? Thanks!
It still works for me definitely. I have noted that it does not always work for every word obviously. And to be honest, the dictionary only became available to me after 3.2 update.
Not working for me on prime1.7, only text to speech, share, etc options. Remember to have used it previously.

My options are the same as yours, no dictionary pop-up! Not sure whether it is due to Google stopping it's dictionary service? But if that is the case, then this will impact everyone as well...but Darkgage says it is working for him?
Darkgage, if you don't mind, can you pls chk again....it was working for me too but now it doesn't. Thanks!
I've tried my Stock reader and i can only highlight it, wirte a note, text to speech and copy. Only this four options. No dictionary. But i'm shure it was there when i get my TF.
EDIT: I tried the stock rom with hc 3.1 and 3.2 but there are the same options. Perhaps they stopped this feature.
Hi all!
Although I am an old user here, this is my first post/thread about my new Galaxy Note 10.1
Ok so our beloved note is supposed to be work oriented and one of the most used perspective of that is Emails I guess.
However this one has a major flow (on stock ROMS) and that is the absence of any spell checker!
I know there's swype and many other features, however spell checker is still an important feature!!!
To make myself clear (if someone didn't understand what I mean), we miss the feature where the wrong typed word is underlined in thin zigzag red line. Once you click on it, many suggestions pop up to replace the wrong word.
This exists on PC, outlooks, word etc.., and exists even on AOSP, CM and all related roms! It even exists on iPad!!!
To ease the way, someone in S2 forums has done it on stock Touchwiz ROM. Look here: PRESS HERE
In this thread he outlines the method he used. I guess it requires AOSP keyboard and libraries as well as modifying the framework and maybe settings apk.
Besides he shows advanced ways of disabling it in browser URL links and contacts app and etc...
Please developers look into this and make it happen, at least for the 4.1.2 ROMS. This is a major feature that we need to have, especially when typing!
I really dunno SAMSUNG what was thinking when it removed this feature from AOSP android!!! I mean this tablet was meant for these things!!!
Thank you!
+1. Hell...+20.
I was looking for spell check the other day when sending out an email. Would definitely be nice. I am not sure how Samsung missed this one
Its mind blowing that such a basic feature is missing from all the Samsung devices! +100 on this request
+50

I'm an "Old User" as well, and although no spell checker is not quite a deal-breaker, it will sure add a lot of time to everything I need to do with this new tool/tablet...SO: I'll add my voter to whatever a +100 does
+1000 hell yeah! A grammar checker would be wonderful too! A girl can dream.
Bump,
Has anyone tried this? I don't have the tools to do so

Well the mentioned method as well as the method I mentioned in OP are the same! However I am no developer and I really dunno what decompile means and how it is done!
However, I will look into it later on when I have some time.
I would pay for this feature if it was added. I really miss having a spell checker.
I found an app called Ginger Grammer and Spelling.. you can find it in the play store. Just haven't been able to make it work on my Note 10.1. Anybody willing to try it and tell me if it is just my device?
hi all, sorry if this has been asked before but I cant find an answer. I cannot figure out how to add words to the dictionary. Lets say I want "hv" to mean "have", I dont see any way to save this somewhere. Or even if i just want "hv" in the dictionary by itself. There seems to be no way i can find to set this up. if I look in language and input I have the samsung keybd as grayed out and checked on and below that the swype keybd as checked on and available to change. If I enter the settings of swype, there is a dictionary there but no words in it. How do I add my own words to a dictionary?
Thanks in advance.

Usually you can just save the words you want to the dictionary while you're typing them. When you type there will be auto correct words at the top of your keyboard with the current word you're typing in the middle. Just tap the middle word and it should give you an option to save it. Hope you understood that..
I've been having this feature on my previous OPO (LineageOS) and was wondering whether I needed to activate it in the language or spelling correction settings of my S8+. Couldn't find it in my device or SwiftKey settings though. So I suppose it's somehow OS or google related.
I find it very convenient in any messenger app (Whatsapp, Twitter etc.) to get the misspelled word underlined in red and by tapping on it I'd get a bunch of suggestions for the correctly spelled word.
I might be wrong, but maybe the answer lies in the google settings, as this feature is enabled on every windows PC I use.
I'm grateful for any advice on how to enable this. Thanks in advance! :good:
