Can't figure out dictionary or saving words... - General Topics

hi all, sorry if this has been asked before but I cant find an answer. I cannot figure out how to add words to the dictionary. Lets say I want "hv" to mean "have", I dont see any way to save this somewhere. Or even if i just want "hv" in the dictionary by itself. There seems to be no way i can find to set this up. if I look in language and input I have the samsung keybd as grayed out and checked on and below that the swype keybd as checked on and available to change. If I enter the settings of swype, there is a dictionary there but no words in it. How do I add my own words to a dictionary?
Thanks in advance.

Usually you can just save the words you want to the dictionary while you're typing them. When you type there will be auto correct words at the top of your keyboard with the current word you're typing in the middle. Just tap the middle word and it should give you an option to save it. Hope you understood that..

Ahhhhh, that would be "misspelled", not "miss spelled"
im having this problem as well, anyone ??
Hi all,
This drove me nuts for a while too.
Open explorer and navigate to device> windows >eT9MyWords
Select that and that opens up a listing of the T9 words you have inputed. delete the ones you no longer want in there.
I have added the shortcut to this to my programs listing so I don't have to navigate there each time.
Hope that helps.

No need to "Hope", that helps me a lot, thanks. I'm not crazy about all those miss spelling or just something that the T9 doesn't have and stored it, but it will be better to be able to delete all the crap.
I had this very irritating problem too. Everytime a mis-spelled word is typed, it is automatically stored in the whatever database. And the mis-spelled words will come back to haunt you every now and then.
Is there any way to control such that a new word is added only if you tick the "correct" button during the ABC mode's learning mode? Instead of the dictionary adding all the typing error into its database by itself?

SlideIT autospace option

SlideIT is always placing a space between words or, more accurate, in front of all words. Only the first word in a text gets away without a space before it. But, if I write the first word in a text, delete it to replace it with another word, it will create a space and the word will be all small letters!
Example:
Hi it's me!
(now, if i want to replace the word "Hi" with "Hello", I'll go back, delete that word only, and it turns out like this:
<space>hello it's me!
(a space in front of the first word, and its all small letters)
Also, in my language (norwegian) there is a lot of words that are combined by two words, but SlideIT doesn't allow me to enter two words without a space between them, unless i go back and delete the space myself.
Well, easy solution: Go to options and de-select the Automatic space option! Yeah, thats the problem right there. I've already tried a bunch of times, but it doesn't change anything! The spaces keep appearing no matter what!
I've already emailed Dasur, and here is what I got:
Dear Sven Erik
We will check this issue,
Can you tell me if it append aso in Note an Word application ?

I answered YES to both apps, but still no answer.. (Sent on April 12th)
So, is anyone else having this problem?
Any solutions?
SlideIT looks nice and is nice to use but it has lots of little annoying bugs like the one you highlight here. The killer for me was the correction issue with HTC Messaging. I emailed Dasur suggesting they change their editing to the method Swype uses where you can place the cursor anywhere in a word to change it to something else using the suggestion system. With SlideIT you need to highlight the entire word which can't be done in HTC Messaging. As a result, any changes when composing text messages means the word has the be deleted and retyped in it's entirety.
As a result I'm still using Swype until these problems are resolved.

Norsk og tysk har mange likheter! (Er det riktig?)
I have the exact same issue: In German, many words are combined to create longer words as well and because the automatic space option is not working, it is not possible to enter them without having to remove the spaces inbetween manually afterwards. I also contacted Dasur and they sent me an answer thanking me for the feedback... But nothing has happened since! Otherwise SlideIt is awesome!
talk to them on their facebook page, they may be a bit more responsive there.

Yup, Norwegian is part of the German language tree
I sent Dasur a new mail yesterday, and again they reply with questions. I answer them, and guess what? No replies...
Same problems with dutch language here. I also searched for a solution and sent an e-mail but no response.
I got my response from Dasur now, it seems like the auto space option is only ment for ABC-mode:
It's not a bug,
We think that in slide mode* you write word after word
and not try to add word to word (in most languages you can't combine words)
my suggestion to you is to save the long words and to slide them in one slide
In the next version we will offer to disable the auto space in the slide mode too.
Great Day,

But that sucks! Sliding really long words with one pass is very inconvenient! The margin for errors is far too big! And it would be such an easy thing to implement! Come on!
Oh well... We'll see what the next version brings.
I just realized that the auto space option makes no sense if it is only ment for the abc mode, as you enter all letters and spaces manually. so as a reply to the mail I received earlier (see my previous posts) i had to reply:
Hi,
So what you are saying is that auto space option can only be turned off in abc mode? Is there even auto space in abc mode? How does auto space work in abc mode? I am sorry, but I cannot seem to make any sense of this...

I agree, v4.1.0.3 has been out for quite a while now so i hope im wrong but i think it will still be a wihle before a newer version is released.
As mentioned, it actually does respond faster than Swype but Swype is much more finger friendly, has less bugs, its just a smarter layout for editing etc.
SlideIT has great advantages though like the abbreviations etc so if they can just tweak it a little, it will be better than Swype. Needs skins as well, very plain unfortunately.
New mail received!
Okay, i still cant seem to figure these guys out...

if you slide you will get auto space always

Hi,
Okay I understand. But why have you released a version with an option of turning off auto space if the option itself doesn't work?

[Q] Manually edit SlideIT dictionary

I know it's been asked once in this forum before (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=986911) but I didn't have permission to bump due to my <10 posts.
But yea, I'm really bothered with how many unnessescary words are in my dictionary (using Swedish, not that it matters, but just FYI.) and also by the fact that alot of words start with a capital letter (names and towns I get, but sometimes other random words do too.)
So, I was hoping someone could figure out a way to edit the .dat file (found in data/data/com.dasur.slideit/app_databases/).
..or, if all else fails, even figure out a way to just completely erase all words so I can enter the words i use from scratch, with no unnessescary words what so ever.
Thanks!
I think there's only two ways to do it...
Either clear the SlideIT data to remove all the words, or when you see a word that you don't want, click the whole word and then the minus sign to get rid of it. But that's kinda tedious though.

Every time I use one my swype keyboard gives me the option to ad them to the dictionary. Then they are there next time. Should be some way to add them to your keyboard.
I don't think there is a specific filter preventing you from adding profanity to the stock dictionary, that would mean the dictionary already knows the words to be able to prevent you from adding them .
There most be another issue, so for normal words it works just fine?
While you said stock dictionary, what keyboard do you mean? Stock? Okay, but on which ROM/Android version?

Which wouldn't really be that hard to do? Just a huge file of words that are obscene.. The next part was going to be, how do I remove it!
That was more of a joke, i really don't think there is such a file.

There has to be a list somewhere of words not to store as predictive text, because it's only swear words that it doesn't predict. It shows them as correctly spelled afterwards though

[Q] [q] t9 prediction problem!

I know i know...who the **** uses T9 anymore? I DO! So I had this problem with my HTC Sensation 4G and now I am having the same problem with HTC One S. I have predictive texting on while using T9 and it won't recognize simple words like "it" or "am." When I type out "it," it turns into "gt." I've tried adding those words into my personal dictionary to see if it would change anything but it doesn't. I have the open of clicking to see more predictive words but that just takes up so much time. I know this is such a small issue but does anyone have this problem too? And has anyone found a solution to this?! It's annoying the crap out of me! I know i can just switch to standard qwerty keyboard but i like T9...easier to text while driving and my fingers won't **** up the words as easily. RAWR! anyway...suggestions and comments are welcome and much appreciated!
Find the mirror app, activate it. Then find the lever on left side of steering wheel, tilt it upwards, check rear view mirror and pull over ffs.
Also if this happens only on short words check if you have maybe by mistake added some short words like gt to your personal dictionary and this is why they are picked first?
What's a mirror app? >.< And where can I get it? I saw literal mirror apps at the google play store but I'm assuming you weren't talking about that kind of mirror app.
I did check my personal dictionary and there was no "gt" added in there, but thank you for the suggestion!
