[TEST] Battery Test

I'd like to start a standardized battery testing procedure and share the results here. Please provide suggestions or improvements if you think of any.
1. Install ROM with full wipe
2. Setup google account (first use setup) from SIM/cell data connection
3. Charge phone to full
4. Enable WiFi, BT, NFC (if available), GPS
5. Disable automatic screen brightness and set to maximum brightness, forget all WiFi networks
6. Open Maps (install if not included)
7. Select Navigate, select Maps (starts navigator with no destination)
8. Unplug device from power
9. Wait hours for device to die
10. Plug device in to fully charge
11. Turn device on, immediately go to Battery stats and snap screenshot
12. Post device, ROM, and screenshot for everyone's amusement
My first few tests are from HD2 and N1 with CM7, and Sensation with MIUI and CM9
HD2 w/ CM7 - 3h 13m
N1 w/ CM7 - 4h 50m
Sensation w/ CM9 - 3h 34m
Sensation w/ MIUI - 2h 26m
myTouch 4G Slide w/ stock - 4h 4m
myTouch 4G Slide with CM9 alpha5 - 3 hours 54 minutes
Cm9 op

Are you connected to a WiFi network the entire time? Because searching for WiFi networks causes a bigger battery drain for me than being connected to one.

Good point. I'll make it a standard on future tests to not connect to forget all APs before testing. Does the same apply for Bluetooth dis/connected and cellular network connected/disconnect?
I would think that the cell connection uses less power when there is no SIM card, but it still has the ability to connect to make emergency calls. My guess is that the cell connection would draw more power from a WiMAX/HSPA/LTE connection than no connection (or emergency call connection).
Amaze w/ ARHD 3 - 3h 13m
HD2 w/ cm9 rc2 - 2h 36m

New phone is killing my home network

Hi,
I have a laptop, TV and iPod touch connected to my router via Wi-Fi, and a desktop via LAN. It's always been completely stable, rock solid. 2 weeks ago I bought a Sony Xperia T to replace the iPod, and since then the router has been freezing up every 15-30 mins, cutting off every device connected to it and not responding to any attempts to log in to it. The lights on the router don't indicate any problem and if I leave it alone it will unfreeze itself within a couple of minutes.
If I turn off the Xperia's Wi-Fi, the network goes back to being completely stable again all day. Turn the Xperia's Wi-Fi on and the router will freeze within 5 minutes and then again every 15-30 mins.
Google search tells me this is actually a fairly common problem with android devices but nobody seems to have any solution. I've upgraded my router's firmware, tried assigning my phone a static IP address, told the router to use g mode only, tried a range of different Wi-Fi channels, none of this had helped.
The problem happened on ICS as well as the recent Jelly Bean update.
Does anyone have any idea what my phone might be doing to screw up my router so much?
Thanks.

Wi-fi connection dropping out

Hi all, I'm on unrooted stock and have so far only disabled bloatware and system apps via the stock app manager. I've got a solid wireless network throughout my house with one Linksys WRT54G2 running as a wired gateway (with wireless connections) to my main router, a Linksys/Cisco E3200 (only wireless connections except the gateway). I don't have issues with any other wi-fi enabled hardware, including two tablets running Lollipop and my Note 2 which was running CM 12.1, but with this phone the connection seems to drop after a couple hours of non-use (i.e. - while sleeping overnight or while running around making dinner and taking care of our baby at night). When this happens the phone tells me that I'm still connected to my wireless network but there is no throughput until I cycle the wi-fi on/off in the phone settings and it reconnects.
This happens with wi-fi calling enabled. I have yet to make a successful call with wi-fi calling so I will leave it disabled today but doubtful that will cure my issue. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Other than that I'm loving this phone and was so ready for an upgrade, will probably root before long but will try to keep the stock rom for a bit. TouchWiz still has its quirks but has come a long way over the last few years. Additionally, has anyone been following this thread? I will probably look at something like this in the coming days to increase battery life but for the most part I think all of my needs will be met with the wireless tether APN settings change and software. Thanks

WiFi keeps cutting off after a while, no matter what app.

Tab 2 rooted w/cwm CM11 since forever see IMG.
Wifi goes out, have to toggle off/on then it stays on for a while again. Sometimes its on for 30 to 45 mins and sometimes it cuts out after 10 mins.
Could wifi doohicky be worn out?
No battery saver app running, just greenify. Tab has minimal apps running and 2 games, have not added apps for over a year.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Thinking about reflashing rom, maybe it got stale, it's been about 2yrs since last flash.

Solved/ :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
My issue was not the tablet or OS/firmware, the problem was my WiFi router.
Running a netgear N600 DB WiFi router with multiple devices connected via Ethernet cable and WiFi signal throughout the house, all other devices worked properly with no issues whatsoever when it came to internet access.
Yet tablet kept disconnecting or loosing signal and would have to toggle WiFi off/on to get it started again. Never suspected router because all other devices worked properly with no signal strength loss or degradation.
After monkeying around with tab with no solution I decided to restart router, had nothing to lose, whatever, and as soon as I restarted router issue was gone, turn on WiFi and it stays on until I turn it off, even if tablet is idle for days, I wake it and WiFi connects immediately.
Now the router was having some signal issue with just the tab and nothing else,I also have two other devices connected that are similar in age and technology to this tab and these showed no signal issues whatsoever.
So the moral of the story is, don't discount your router just because everything else is working properly with the router and network.
Now my tab has to see a therapist because I called it "a piece of $#it" and it wasn't even the tabs fault.
