Activesync reg file locations - General Questions and Answers

Where in the registry would I find the locations for the activesync settings (server/user name/password etc)?
Is this device specific?
Since I flash my device a lot I would like to be able to store those settings in the XDA_UC folder on my storage card, if that's even possible.
I found the locations for the user settings for HTC Sense in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAccountManager]
if that's helpful to anyone.
Sorry if this is a repost but I couldn't find this anywhere by searching for it.

Simple Way to Protect Folders?

Hi all
just a quick question does anyone know of a simple app that will allow me to password protect a folder(s) on the PDA WM5.
I dont want nothing fancy, no encryption, no other features other than when someone tries to open a folder they must enter a password.
I have tried looking arround and all i can find are encryption/security software, not just the simple app that I'm looking for

Secret porn stash?
I wish, my company is going to deploy Universals to the workforce and i want to be able to lock certain folders ie settings etc so they dont mess and end up buggering them up
If you don't find what you are looking for and decide an encrypter is the next best thing, I can recommend Airscanner Mobile Encrypter, which you can pick up for free.
Hi FOZZER!
If you are looking to protect device settings, blocking folders really isn't the way to go.
1st settings isn't a real folder. Yes there is such a folder under windows\start menu but it is usually empty. The contents you see in 'settings' is compiled automatically by windows from cpl files and such, just like 'control panel' on the PC.
If I remember correctly, if you delete the the settings folder, it will disappear from start menu and average user won't be able to access device settings.
To make things harder you can delete the link to file explorer so people will be less likely to mess with the device.
There is a thread here somewhere about doing just this sort of things. Try searching for 'kiosk' and not just this site.

T-Mobile Wing MyFaves Registry settings request

I have the extended rom and the myfaves software found in other posts that is missing parts of the software still when the program tries to run. I was wondering if anyone could post the registry entries on the wing to help us know what programs/registry enteries are needed or are missing.
For starters, in previous postings the myfaves zip file that another member so graciously put together, has a good chunk of the files. However there are still some files missing. Through some research I know that the myfaves program uses/references a program called SMSCReceiver.exe, which I believe is the status service that checks the network for myfaves access. That is one of the programs missing.
I am specifically looking for SMSCReceiver.exe and the registry entries for HKLM > SOFTWARE > HTC > My5 (and any sub entries in that folder)
Thanks in advance!
I can't find the SMSCReceiver.exe in the dump but the registry entry is attached.
My day trying to fix the L2TP/IPSec issue wasn't completely wasted
Now if you want to help me with my L2TP/IPSec issue......
Andy
thanks for the reg stuff.
another registry request from the wing users..
can i get the reg settings for the HKLM --> Software --> Microsoft --> Today --> Items. I want all keys located under Items including subkeys and values.
** The previous registry settings did help me get part of the myFaves software working. It helped me in getting the settings control panel option to function. When I press the option to refresh myFaves it does send the sms out and I get a return sms stating that my myfaves contacts have been refreshed. **
Thanks in Advance.
** EDIT **
After reviewing the registry file I have found that the following files are missing from the MyFaves zip file that is floating around there. The missing files and their locations are:
\Windows\myFaves_BackgroundImage.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_4.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_3.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_2.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_1.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_0.jpg
If anyone has these as well could you please post them? Thanks!

Not having a my favs phone can cause billing issues down the road. T-Mo's system knows what device you're using and the MDA is not a my favs phone.
I have a cousin who's been a manager for a couple of years now and he gets all the inside info for me. He say's you can use it but down the road it may or can cause billing issues.
Work-around, by a cheapy or prepay ($35) my favs phone and set it up on your account as the phone you use...every once in a while, put your sim in it and let it register with the network.
another thread on this subject
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309901
and a cab file for the reg settings
I took the file, myFaves_PhCDefault.jpg, and made five copies of it and put the five copies (appropriately renamed according to the registry) in \Application Data\HTC\myfaves as is shown in the registry. I did not do the myFaves_BackgroundImage.jpg as I am not sure how big the file is supposed to be though (and actually am not sure about the contact_#.jpg's either):
\Windows\myFaves_BackgroundImage.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_4.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_3.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_2.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_1.jpg
\Application Data\HTC\myFaves\Contact_0.jpg
I put a shortcut to the My5Service.exe file in the \Windows\Startup folder and soft reset.
Even after all this, when I attempt to launch My5App.exe, I get the message:
The file 'My5App' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
I will try to google to find out about the missing jpgs when I get back from dinner.
I tried searching for the filename as listed via google but no luck on that front.
Someone whom has a myfaves phone could be so kind to post the 6 files in a zip file would be great and their folder locations. In addition, an export of HKCU and HKLM registry keys since I am guessing there is more than the my5 key in the HKLM section of the registry that we need. Lastly, is there a link to My5Service in the \windows\startup folder as well (I did already try that but who knows).
Thanks.

Hi, having some problems with my Touch Pro

Please bear with me, as this is my first windows mobile phone and I'm not all too familiar with it.
First problem is, tapping "Launch Browser" on the Internet tab does not work. After thinking about it for a while, I realized that the Opera browser was not installed on my device! Now, as far as I know, it should come already in all devices. So, I downloaded the Opera 9.5 browser off their website. How can I set it up so when I tap "Launch Browser" on the Internet tab, Opera 9.5 will automatically run? Currently tapping it still does nothing.
Second is, I've been hearing about this "Windows" folder in the HTC Touch Pro. I can't seem to locate this. When I browse for it with my computer, the name of the TP's "hard drive" is "\", and then I see the following folders:
Application Data, ConnMgr, Content, Documents and Settings, Music, My Documents, Program Files, cemail (hidden file), pim
Is this root folder the "Windows" folder?
Third thing is, in the "Programs" tab in TF3D, there's this icon there that when I press (looks like the default icon for a folder in Vista), it gives me an error. It says "The file 'wt5jetpr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
There we go, that's all. Thank you, if you've read this far.
I can't help with the Opera thing but as for your Windows folder, it's a system file and hidden. You will have to unhide it in your Vista/XP operating system before you can see it using your PC>
You see, I already enabled the viewing of hidden folders. There aren't any other items other than the ones I listed.
EDIT: I tried creating a folder called "Windows" and Vista tells me I can't, because a folder of the same name already exists.
That's weird.. hidden folders are already enabled and I still can't see it.
Hiya, i'm a bit of a noob myselft with regards to wm6.1 so for the opera issue i dont think i could be much help with that same with the file that wont delete so i hope someone else will answer that, to see ur windows folder though when the phone is connected to the pc open up explorer on ur pc and click on tools/folder options then click on view and make sure either the "hide protected operating system files" box is unchecked &/or the "show hidden system files box is checked and this should let you see the windows folder.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: looks like someone already answered in the time it took me to type that, my own fault for multitasking ...

Same thing as you, when I browse to the device from Windows Explorer.
However, if I go to Tools - Folder Options - View tab and I select "Show hidden files and folders", the Windows directory is displayed.

By the name, it looks like it is JetCet Print 5.
Strange you have these errors. Do you use a custom ROM?
PS: been too slow to answer too. but at least the answers match ;-)
I'm not using a custom rom =\. The rom came with my device.
It's:
1.90.405.1.WWE
It's a HTC Touch Pro T7272
Then I advise you to do a Hard Reset. Opera and JetCet print should be there, and should not give you any certificate errors.
I advise you to read a lot these forums, gather as much info as you can, and experimenting with your device. You have a powerhouse in your hands, you know? you have unlimited possibilities. Any questions should you have must be asked.
Alright, I'll give that a try tomorrow after the day's gone so I have lots of time to figure things out.
Sorry for the double post, but I figure this message won't get read if I simply edit my last post.
Anyways, I hard resetted the device and I got Opera and that printing program working! Thanks creiz.
Just one last thing I'm trying to figure out.. is there any way I can get a custom alarm ring tone without downloading a program? (I'm trying to avoid having to do that if possible)

How Do I Install CAB Files?

I got my Fuze a couple days ago, and I want to install some themes and maybe some other things.
But I don't know what to do with a CAB file, or how to get the themes onto my phone.
I am running the default ATT ROM, syncing with my Vista PC.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Anyone?
Please?
when you connect to the comp it should open device manager since you have Vista (set your Fuze to ActiveSync when the popup comes up). In Device Manger go to File Management then Brose the contents of my phone. You can then copy files from your PC to your Fuze by dragging and dropping them. Once you're done go back to your Fuze and go to Start - Programs - Tools - File Explorer and go to whenever you just put the cab install file and open it then just press 'install'.
so can in run the diamond TF3D config on my fuze?

yes you can =D
Read the wiki..
when i try to drag the TF3D config onto my fuze, it just gives me the "no" symbol
im dragging all the files, the setup AND all the other files, into a folder call TF3D stuff.
is there anything I could be doing wrong?
edited solved
click explore in activesync, find your storage card, put cab files on storage card.
disable tf3d (start<settings<today<tab items, uncheck tf3d)
go to file explorer (in programs)
find cabs on storage card, touch cab, agree to install, install on device not storage card
re-enable tf3d
Hope that helps!
if you want a video on how to do it then i made one for people who are unsure
the vids alittle sketchy as my editing software messed up and deleted a part out of it but check it out anyways... hope it helps

[Q] Identifying manufacturer of WinCE device

Hey everyone,
First time I'm posting on the forum even though I visit it frequently
I have a quick question regarding Windows CE navigation devices if anyone can help me with. Is there a way of finding out who manufactured the device by running some sort of file that pulls this info from WinCE? There's no visible way of getting directly onto WinCE as the device has it's own GUI which pretty much has all the functions the manufacturer intended the general public to view such as; NAVI, Music, Games etc.. These functions all appear on the main menu, you simply click on the icon and that specific function launches.
I read on another forum a while back (can't remember where exactly), that there's a file you can copy onto a memory card (.exe file) that you need to select when you setup your GPS software on the device. This particular device has an option called "GPS Path Settings" which is where I select the .exe file that's on the memory card that runs my navi.
I presume that the file they were referring to is selected from the same menu (GPS Path Settings) and from what I understand, this file would run once I select the "NAVI" icon from the main menu. It would then "pull" the manufacturer's details from the system and create a text document on the memory card with all the info.
I'll appreciate it if anyone knows where I can find this file or has another way of getting the manufacturer's details.
Thx!
Typically in device's registry exists key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\OEM. Might be the info you search for is stored therein.
