The new Garmin-Asus M10 using Windows windows mobile 6.5.3 has an interesting u.i. wanna know if it can be ported to the HD2
video of the u.i. http://youtube.com/watch?v=jOUxGxjqqIA&hl=en&gl=US&client=mv-google http://youtube.com/watch?v=jOUxGxjqqIA&hl=en&gl=US&client=mv-google
edit:made this thread from my phone so ignore the double links
read this a little, i have garmin already on my hd2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=595132
did u even watch the video? -.- or any others concerning the M10. i am not talking bout the garmin navigation software. I'm talking bout the user interface, e.g. in htc phones there's htc sense/tf3d. on the m10 its obviously a different u.i. and hence my 1st post
Edit: just realised.there's an [op] beside my name, any1 can enlighten me on what it means
Hi mate, [OP] I would imagine is [Original Post/er]
lol I swear its like some people read some words, but not the whole sentences lol.
If I'm right yeah at one point Garmin will come out with another update for their program and have it running the same way that they have it running in their NuviFone. I say "at one point" because I don't think they are active in their mobile OS department for windows mobile. The NuviFone will be running on Android OS so AGAIN this will most likely come out for the Android OS before the WM (if at all).
I think its possible as I have ported Sense UI to the Garmin Asus M10. Most of the time ports are vice-versa so I think it should work, as long as someone tracts it.
Interesting..
See what you mean, not my cup 'o' tea tho.
Might see some useful apps come from it,not the navigation software but the possibility to have something similar to carousel view.

Ehi guys, know something about? Check out this pic I found, think we should hold our breath, 8.0 and 8.1 on their way!
EDIT: picture deleted, see post n.3.

You're right, but pic size is limited here on XDA. However, here it is, original size!
You can see "PNA/PDA - 7.9, 8.0, 8.1" in a column on the right.
Where did you get that picture, cos to me it means nothing.
Looks like someone just made up a list of what maps work on what versions of the software. Doesn't look like it came from TomTom themselves.
its right that is used for people who crack maps so they know which version to use, as for tomtom 8 i think not, as when i asked tomtom they said basically that pda owners have been put on the bottom of list for updates and other features like lane guidence.
Don't hold your breath. TomTom don't really care about PDA users these days.
You got it, I got this in a file sharing site in their GPS section... it isn't warez, just a compatibility map which tickled my immagination, so I was asking if anyone got any info about it because I couldn't find anything googling.
i do think tt8 is coming... though by that time they've already moved to version 9 or 10. so pda user will lack behind again.
any updates on that?
will there be a new version for ppc?
or will tomtom just go for the iphone?
Any news guys?
Hi,
I was updating a tomtom for my friend with 9.xxx nav core and latest maps and guys, it is awesome.
Why is everyone avoiding to keep developing apps for wince when there is still plenty of user who would pay for it?
Tomtom is pushing through to bloody iphone putting PDA versions totaly asside.
Is it not possible to port the PNA version to PDA somehow? Probably not as it would have been done before
It might be due to bussiness with iphone as they have a contract with them for sure and apple might have a condition that Tomtom won't be developing a PDA application no more. Very sad.
Indeed, I have spent too many days for a qualified navigator software since Navigator 6 for WM 6.5 has been terminated and there is no update on the maps anymore. I would have to accept a fact that drop my X51v and just use my Nokia E5....
hi @ all
any updates on that?
will there be a new version for ppc?
I think Tomtom have stopped developing for PPC. They are concentrating on PNA devices only.
Hey everyone
I was just wondering, with the first Windows Mobile Capacitive touchscreen device (HTC Leo / HD2) will older windows applications still work, as they are obviously designed for resistive screens?
I read somewhere (but cannot remember where) that only specific applications designed for capacitive screens will work on the new HTC Leo.
Just wondering because I will be purchasing a HTC Leo when it comes out, and I wouldn't like to find that all my old applications don't work lol.
Thanks..
Whatever you have heard is nonsense.
The application has no idea what type of screen you're using, it just knows that the OS told it "the user clicked here". That's the entire purpose of things like operating systems and device drivers, to abstract all of this stuff away so the appscan "just work".
The Leo WILL run all the same apps you get on any other 6.5 device.

What you read was probably that only specific applications designed for the Leo will support multi-touch (e.g. pinch-zoom).
Lol thats exactly what I thought... but you know people and their silly rumors
And it definately was about 3rd party applications lol.
I just wanted to be 100% sure before I spend over £500 on a device!
Thanks for your help. Maybe it will clear up a bit of confusion for others aswell.
Please,
I'd like to know if is it possible to have a dual boot
for android mobile device (acer liquid) and windows mobile
thanks
I'd love to know about this too. Android's been impressing me on my FUZE, but I'm not entirely willing to dive in without a safety net.
If I could look forward to an AT&T version of Incredible in the future (or something similar) that would allow me to slip into WinMo if need be, I'd love it.
Or even better... an Android-native app that would launch WinMo apps. that way I'd be able to port over my beloved KinomaPlay. ^^d
Retro users?
Hi there,
I tried to search the question's forums and turned up to "no thread" on the subject.
When I tried to start one (and only then) I bumped into it!
Ok, I've being using Android for sometime now and do like it some but from time to time I just miss to have a smartphone that don't keep upgrading it's apps all the time!
Unfortunately there have been no decent WM phone on the brazillian operators of late (no Wm7 down here) and I quite could not leave the "eCompass" behind (saw no WM phone with it!).
Just now I'm waiting for some Nokia WM phones but until then...
(Possible I imagine that it is but)
... is there some hotshot out there to fix a WM version on an Android Device (like Defy or Galaxy Tab)?
C u!
There are quite a few compass apps on the Android Market.... Can you describe something unique eCompass does that you haven't found an adequate replacement?
Ah, before I go...
... Just to sign on the thread notification!
Just to the records...
(It appears that I was misunderstood and that my previous attempt at explaining it was unsuccessful!)
I was saying that I do not know of any WM device with compass capability! Just GPS.
"eCompass" was supposed to stand for electronic compass. It was not an app!

(Still awaiting...)
My friend try to do same thing on his android phone but no chance. I have another friend that can do it but he has some sort of universal phone that can had all os's made for phone.
Hi Everybody !
you all know how strange it might be some requests form your boss but this is the most strange one !
My Boss has a system that work on WM 6.5 only and doesn't work on WM 7 and he requested that I should Provide him with 40 New WM 6.5 devices !
you know that they are not available currently So I figured out that I should buy new WM 7 Devices and Flash it Back to WM 6.5 !
I think theoretically this is possible but have anyone tried it ?!!!
I want to Try it on HTC 7 pro Device , Could anyone tell me what the steps I need to do that ?
any other suggested Devices ? I only want it to be New ,with QWERTY keypad and I can install WM 6.5 on it !
Thank you all in Advance.
Sorry, but you can't go back to something you never had!
WM is very, very, very, very different to WP. In fact they share just about nothing.
There is currently no way of putting WM6.5 on a WM7 device, which you'd have known if you'd spent roughly 70 seconds doing a search of the forum.
Unless it's something very specific, there's probably a way to do whatever needs doing on WP7, but unfortunately if your boss is insistent on non-standard software WP7 isn't going to work for you I'm afraid, the best thing you can do is try and find a bunch of WM6.5 devices.

I think I will try to gather some WM 6.5 Devices
Thank you for your support.
A lot of the enterprise (read: work related) features that were standard in WM6.x were left out of WP7. I only discovered that after setting up Exchange Server 2010 with my WM6.5 phone and was not able to duplicate the same tasks on WP7.

That is the Problem my Friend !
Hello guys,
as you probably know, there were many projects to port an android Rom into the wonderful Samsung Focus device.
This morning, I was browsing google to find some news about it and BANG, I found an eHow page from November 15th 2011 telling me how to do it. I remained sort of sceptical about it and I wanted your opinions. As far as I read, it seems to be an HTC rom ported to WP7.
So Ill let you check the web page, right there: http://www.ehow.com/how_12191756_run-android-samsung-focus.html
Does it sound fake to you? Is it safe to try it?
BTW, has anyone successfully ported android with MAGDLR on the Focus?
Thank you very much!
Sorry for my bad english.
Alpha4345 out.
??!!
anybody please confirm working or no please!!
Haret is for OLD windows mobile
The Samsung Focus runs Windows Phone 7.x, which is NOT windows mobile. Haret runs on windows mobile. This trick won't work. The SD card is protected by the operating system when you install it, and will become an integral part of your phone, and you can't even access it from your computer.:crying:
You might be interested in this from the dev section as far as HARET is concerned with WP7 :

Having recently bought an Android device to play with, I have to ask: why in the HELL would you switch a WP7 device to Android? Sure, it's more customizable and has more apps, but it's a hell of a lot slower and the UI is an antiquated joke.
Well I find it funny when people ask questions like this , especially on a DEVELOPERS FORUM ! Why would someone want to put a chevy engine in a Toyota , because they can (with modifications) , its not about how fast the "fart app" or Face Book runs , that crap doesnt matter to devs , its whether or not it will work that matters and if it will ,what other possibilities are there (that means Microsoft left some backdoors open) , pretty promising stuff , maybe not feasable to the average user but to a tinkerer or maker its alot!

I can relate to the "challenge" aspect--used to do it all the time years ago. Now I just don't give a rat's ass
