App to bypass/eliminate the Power-Off action Screen - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Is it possible to get rid of the action screen that pop-up after pressing the Power-Off hardware button to turn the phone of?
The action screen is both annyoing, useless and slow and I'd love for the HD2 to simply shut down after pressing the power button for a few seconds like most phones do. Is there an app/patch or registry mod to totally bypass/eliminate the action screen?
Thanks for the advice

If you meant that you wanted to switch off the screen without putting the XDA on standby, here's how. Just assign one of the buttons to "Screen Toggle" when Windows Media Player is running. On the Windows Media Player menu, select Tools->Settings->Buttons. Then map one of the buttons, such as Button 2 (Contacts), to "Screen Toggle". After that, pressing the mapped button will switch the screen on and off.

I tried this 3 times and each time when I press the button (I assigned button 3- the camera button) I got a strange black and white flashing strobe on the screen which I couldnt get out of without a soft reset. Anyone else had this or knows how to deal with it?

Dunno how to deal with it but I can confirm that I have exactly the same issue. Screen Toggling does not work and ends up in a flash show that doesn't look very healthy for the display.
works fine on xda 1 running ppc2003 :\ any programs to make the screen do this automatically? say if i was to run tomtom gps?

Work's fine with my XDA2, no problems at all, I assigned button 2 to the screen.

Also works fine on my XDA II. have you tried using the Calenda/Contacts buttons to toggle the screen instead of the camera button? Just a thought.
try this nifty lil program i found on emule works great on pc2002/2003 i have jog button installed to my calendar button just press the button and the screens off press power button to turn back on very simple or hold my calendar button down and the calendar coems up

Screenoff works perfect, but how do you manage to let the calendar button have a double function?
Found a prog cald jogbutton here http://www.yorch.net/downloads/JogButtonSetup.zip, but this doesn't seem to work on Pocket PC PE 2003.
job button works fine on ppc2003 i have it on my xda :\ just assign calendar or contacts to job button then load up jog button click on setup then apply it to the progs you want it to open.
prob i found with pc2002 with screen off is it doesnt come back on with the power button lol so here is screen on for peeps with pc2003 no need to install this if on pc2003 as it works fine on it
use button plus v2.0 from yorches site i find it better then jog button as it allows double tap buttons and doesnt go crazy when turniong screen off on tomtom 2 lol

I'm not sure how it's called in english rom, but in the settings system tab you should have somthing like "key lock" or somthing like that, there you can set optio to not to block keys when device is suspended
Thats what I have tried. It doesnt matter what option I set this to it always does the same thing; I always have to use the power button to wake up the device.
Is nobody else having a problem with this? Let me give a clearer explanation of the problem. I have set "Do not lock buttons" in Settings->KeyLock yet when my device is on standby the only way to wake it up is to press the power button. I would like to be able to press any button to get it awake. How can I do this?
Thanks
Allan
Oh well, looks like I am going to have to live with this behaviour

My Polaris does not behave like this. I have set the Key Lock to "Lock Buttons if Device is locked". And now I can wake the Polaris with any buttons as long as it was not locked before going to standby.
I have the same problem, but it is with my AT&T Tilt w/Q-Mobile rom.
If anyone cares at this point, reinstalling the rom fixed this problem for me.
I have no issue to this option. I used to select not to lock button but I turn on my phone by tapping the camera button accidentally when I put back my phone into the belt clip. Therefore I stop choosing this option and lock all button except the power button to turn on my phone.

Almost there.
When you press the reset button, hold it for a few seconds and then let go. Keep holding the comm manager and voice buttons until the screen says press the talk button to reset. Then let go of the top buttons and press the talk button.
ya only release the comm and voice when your screen display instructions
Mmmmm?
Maybe a Hardware.......

Turn on the phone from sleep without pressing power button

Ok, the story is, my phone goes to sleep every 30 secs to save battery. And since I'm still very excited about it, I turn it on quite often, just to check . And the only way to turn on from sleep (as far as I know) is pressing the power button. Well, that means that button will be pressed a lot! I'm just worrying that it will soon have problems. It would be much cooler if we can touch some Android button down there, Home button for example, to turn on the phone. Do you know anyway to do that?
PS: I tried to google as well as search through out this forum, but the keywords are pretty common, so it's really hard though.
I wouldn't want the capacitive buttons activating my phone, think of all the butt-dialing
I think Widget Locker allows for any hardware button to wake up the device, so then you'd be able to distribute the fun between your volume rocker and the power button.
Widget locker does allow the use of the volume rocker to wake up the phone.
a short term fix or you might be to got o settings-->Applications-->Development-->Stay awake....
so as long as you are charging the screen will not sleep. dont forget to change the setting back if you walk away for a bit... or go to bed
Thanks guy. I think the volume button is good enough

thanks rumur, i going to give widget locker a try.
i hate it must reach for power button to wakeup!
i like "Simply Lockscreen", it also turns on cappy with volume buttons.
give it a try
On a similar note, do you all have any app tips that will allow me to do something special with the volume button while the screen is off (maybe long press or double click, or press both volume buttons at once) that will in turn toggle silent/vibrate on and off?

[Proj] app to turn screen off

I was wondering if it would be possible to assign a long press of the back button to turn the screen off instead of clicking the power button. I heard that peoples buttons have gone out quickly and I try to avoid hitting the power button to prevent this.

Either lower the screen time-out, or just use the power button.
By the time it breaks you'll be wanting something else anyway.

I agree.
I haven't had any problems with my power button and I use the power button to shut the screen off a lot. Hopefully it stays like that.
search for Lock Screen Widget in the market. Totally free and all it does is just turn the screen off. not as simple as holding the back button but it does the trick nicely
if you're using cm 6 you can download LockEnabler and set it to the long press home action. Only side effect is you have to wait 6 seconds to turn the screen back on
There is an app called no lock. With this app you can unlock the screen with track ball or volume + -
So if you use the lock screen widget to turn the screen off and use no lock to turn it on again, you will never need to push the power button...just for first boot.
HAHAHA!
I had massive problem with my power button, my NEXUS has been serviced twice due to the same issue... so just use Lock Screen Widget to minimize the physical usage of power button.
Power button and mic were well known hardware issues so good luck with it!
Thanks for the suggestions they really helped and I appreciate it. How do I get this deleted?

Doesn't need to be. It will slowly get moved off the first page, second and so on unless people continue posting. Maybe it will help others too.
