I'm not sure how it's called in english rom, but in the settings system tab you should have somthing like "key lock" or somthing like that, there you can set optio to not to block keys when device is suspended
Thats what I have tried. It doesnt matter what option I set this to it always does the same thing; I always have to use the power button to wake up the device.
Is nobody else having a problem with this? Let me give a clearer explanation of the problem. I have set "Do not lock buttons" in Settings->KeyLock yet when my device is on standby the only way to wake it up is to press the power button. I would like to be able to press any button to get it awake. How can I do this?
Thanks
Allan
Oh well, looks like I am going to have to live with this behaviour

My Polaris does not behave like this. I have set the Key Lock to "Lock Buttons if Device is locked". And now I can wake the Polaris with any buttons as long as it was not locked before going to standby.
I have the same problem, but it is with my AT&T Tilt w/Q-Mobile rom.
If anyone cares at this point, reinstalling the rom fixed this problem for me.
I have no issue to this option. I used to select not to lock button but I turn on my phone by tapping the camera button accidentally when I put back my phone into the belt clip. Therefore I stop choosing this option and lock all button except the power button to turn on my phone.

If you meant that you wanted to switch off the screen without putting the XDA on standby, here's how. Just assign one of the buttons to "Screen Toggle" when Windows Media Player is running. On the Windows Media Player menu, select Tools->Settings->Buttons. Then map one of the buttons, such as Button 2 (Contacts), to "Screen Toggle". After that, pressing the mapped button will switch the screen on and off.

I tried this 3 times and each time when I press the button (I assigned button 3- the camera button) I got a strange black and white flashing strobe on the screen which I couldnt get out of without a soft reset. Anyone else had this or knows how to deal with it?

Dunno how to deal with it but I can confirm that I have exactly the same issue. Screen Toggling does not work and ends up in a flash show that doesn't look very healthy for the display.
works fine on xda 1 running ppc2003 :\ any programs to make the screen do this automatically? say if i was to run tomtom gps?

Screenoff works perfect, but how do you manage to let the calendar button have a double function?
Found a prog cald jogbutton here http://www.yorch.net/downloads/JogButtonSetup.zip, but this doesn't seem to work on Pocket PC PE 2003.
job button works fine on ppc2003 i have it on my xda :\ just assign calendar or contacts to job button then load up jog button click on setup then apply it to the progs you want it to open.
prob i found with pc2002 with screen off is it doesnt come back on with the power button lol so here is screen on for peeps with pc2003 no need to install this if on pc2003 as it works fine on it
use button plus v2.0 from yorches site i find it better then jog button as it allows double tap buttons and doesnt go crazy when turniong screen off on tomtom 2 lol

When my HTC pro is locked the both volume buttons still work.
Is there a way to disable these 2 buttons when my phone is locked, the should only work if the HTC pro is not locked!
How can I change this?
good question. I would like to know as well...
a friend of mine told me, htat the diamond has got the buttons locked in locked mode, too.
2 of my working partners have both a touch diamond and they both confirmed that the button keys are turned off when the phone is locked.
you guys should check out the sensor lock app, it's free and by a peep on here, it's pretty good
this app is quite cool (sensorlock), but we just want a simple lock of the volume buttons when the device is locked by the default procedure.
sensorlock does not what i want.
I just want the default lock in wm to lock the volume keys.
So if I press the "end call" and hold it down the phone locks, it should also lock the volume keys, the on/off button should NOT be locked!
More function I do not need for locking.
It would be OK if a app does the same with a software/sensor lock function, but important is that it is enabled by long press of end call button.
Sorry no answer to your question but I agree: the fact that the volume buttons are not locked is really annoying!
volume buttons not locked
They are locked on my original Dutch T-Mobile Rom.
(and yes, I've checked that)
On my vodafone rom not, I am now runnin romeos and on this rom there are also not locked.
Note: we are speaking here about the default lock of the OS, NOT the sensorlock! So holding down the "end all button" for approx 2 seconds. The phone now locks itself and display is dimped, now all keys execpt the on/off and volume keys are locked. What I want is that volume keys are also locked.
It is possible to lock the volume keys using apps such as sensorlock, but this lock does not work with the end call button, you must rotate the phone of use the stylus to (un)lock it.
tis true. when locked, volume buttons work. when display is off, they do not
3 Australia Rom also comes with this problem. It would be interesting to know how they fixed it in the T Mobile Dutch rom.

Not really, it does not what I ask
I just want: lock using hold own end key, all keys (including volume) are OFF.
This tool does not do this, if I set is using wm in lock modus the volume keys still work, all other options are not for me...
It is great that people suggest which tools to use for locking but please only suggest a tool which locks does exactly as I ask.
If anyone Finds an answer to this I would love to know as well!
yeah kinda of a big problem. I lock the phone. Put it on vibrate or silent and put it in my pocket. because of the location of the keys, it sometimes increases the volume. Quite annoying since use an mp3player where i go, i don't hear my phone (thats why i prefer to use only vibrate).
Turning the display off is a workaround that helps a bit.. but that button also works when locked (not weird ofcourse)
Nevermind, I've found the best way to get past this is after locking the phone (by holding the end call key) if you press the power key and release it puts it into "Sleep Mode" and turns off the screen. After this the volume keys cannot be used unless you press and release the power button to wake it up.
Seems to cure my problem.
any person can help me how enable volume buttons when device is locked ?
rom: ROMeOS ver.1.70.3
Hi all,
Is there a tweak or something that allows for other ways to wake the phone from standby?
At the moment i have found that removing the stylus or opening the keyboard is the only way to wake the phone, to me this is kind of a odd behavior.
What if i want to make a one handed phone call, the above methods for bringing the device back to life is uncomfortable at best.
The mode i describe as standby is keys locked and screen powered down, in a perfect world i would like to press home and have the screen power up "dimmed" so that i can see where the unlock buttons are and go from there.
Is there a solution to this?
Im new to phones of this sort so if there is a generic solution i am not aware of it
Since nothing of relevance came up during my search im guessing that i am the only one who sees this as a problem?
Press the power button
ohh
Thank you
that was really funny but it's okay..
I press my bluetooth hands-free button for that.
OK with bluetooth hands-free button but starts voice dialer too.

Could you please be more specific for the newbies here; i.e. from what height should you drop it, what surface is more effective (concrete, damp grass, wood chips?), should you let it just drop from your hand or actually throw it, etc
Thanks.
to be certain of dropping it properly you should do it from at least a 5th floor window, tho 8th is reccomended.
i believe the best place to try to wake the phone from standby would be the empire state building. always works like a charm when i throw my phones, laptops and tv`s to wake up (others)
I dropped my phone from the 8th floor, but now it "crashed"
Interesting to see that you found a thread that has been dead for 6 weeks just to make fun of the issue i had.
My bet is that you searched yourself to this thread since you had the same "problem" as i did
all joking aside he actually had a good question. we all know the power button wakes up the phone, however i would like to know if there is a way to have the center d-pad button wake the phone up instead of or in addition to the power button.

I would like this or just a simple tap on the screen should wake it. I think there should also be a "screen lock" when it sleeps like the Iphone
i found then when your on a call and the screen turns off, you can wake it back up by press down on the scroll wheel.

I was thinking of mapping it to PTT, but center d-pad button would be even better and intuitive. Is there a way to do this mapping?
not sure, im sure anything is possible here at XDA. if it is possible im sure someone here can figure out how to do it.
Mapping PTT to "wake up" Fuze
Does any one know whether it is possible to map PTT (short press) to wake up fuze from standby. It's not all that convenient to reach the power button with one-hand operation.
Is it possible to get rid of the action screen that pop-up after pressing the Power-Off hardware button to turn the phone of?
The action screen is both annyoing, useless and slow and I'd love for the HD2 to simply shut down after pressing the power button for a few seconds like most phones do. Is there an app/patch or registry mod to totally bypass/eliminate the action screen?
Thanks for the advice

No, this makes it reset, now I dont even have a way to turn the phone off except taking the battery out. I need a TurnOff_EndKey not Reset_EndKey
Thanks anyway
The home button (off-screen navigation button) does not seem to be working for me. It does not respond when I click it. I can confirm that my navigation settings are set to it. I am also not seeing any option in the settings for the fingerprint ID. Gonna assume this is a software issue.
Try to factory reset, but it seems a Hardware issue
My problem is that my home button works too well.
Any way I can stop it from waking up the phone when it is touched? I can't help to touch it when removing it from my pocket, but I don't always want it to wake up. I may just want to move it from pocket to desk. It is much more sensitive than the (proper) power button. There is a reason why power buttons are made the way they are.
