Home Button NOT WORKING - Honor View 10 Questions & Answers

The home button (off-screen navigation button) does not seem to be working for me. It does not respond when I click it. I can confirm that my navigation settings are set to it. I am also not seeing any option in the settings for the fingerprint ID. Gonna assume this is a software issue.

Try to factory reset, but it seems a Hardware issue

My problem is that my home button works too well.
Any way I can stop it from waking up the phone when it is touched? I can't help to touch it when removing it from my pocket, but I don't always want it to wake up. I may just want to move it from pocket to desk. It is much more sensitive than the (proper) power button. There is a reason why power buttons are made the way they are.

Function buttons stopped working on my HTC

So just today I go to make a phone call (HTC P4000 - Canadian CDMA Titan) by hitting the button and nothing happened. I reboot, again nothing happened. I did not make any software changes or drop the phone at all yesterday. It just randomly stopped working. After further testing, the jog wheel works (along with the click on the jog wheel), the directional pad in the middle of buttons below screen (along with the click) works, and the power button on the side (to turn screen off, or hold to be prompted for reboot) works. Everything else does not: the IE and messaging button at the top above the screen, the 2 function keys below the screen, as well as the windows and OK button below that. ALSO along the sides of the phone all buttons do not work (comm manager, camera, voice record, ok.... power does work though keep in mind).
Does this sound like a physical issue or possible software or OS corruption of some sort? What is bizarre to me is that the OK button along the side works, yet the button right below it (comm manager) does not work. It would make sense that this button (the power) would be wired differently as it's more essential i suppose. What are your thoughts? Anything I should try or does this sound 100% like hardware... if it is that's ok cuz I have a warranty through my carrier for the entire length of my contract. Thanks for any tips or advice in advance!
have you tried a hard reset yet worked for me one time with those issues

I'm not sure how it's called in english rom, but in the settings system tab you should have somthing like "key lock" or somthing like that, there you can set optio to not to block keys when device is suspended
Thats what I have tried. It doesnt matter what option I set this to it always does the same thing; I always have to use the power button to wake up the device.
Is nobody else having a problem with this? Let me give a clearer explanation of the problem. I have set "Do not lock buttons" in Settings->KeyLock yet when my device is on standby the only way to wake it up is to press the power button. I would like to be able to press any button to get it awake. How can I do this?
Thanks
Allan
Oh well, looks like I am going to have to live with this behaviour

My Polaris does not behave like this. I have set the Key Lock to "Lock Buttons if Device is locked". And now I can wake the Polaris with any buttons as long as it was not locked before going to standby.
I have the same problem, but it is with my AT&T Tilt w/Q-Mobile rom.
If anyone cares at this point, reinstalling the rom fixed this problem for me.
I have no issue to this option. I used to select not to lock button but I turn on my phone by tapping the camera button accidentally when I put back my phone into the belt clip. Therefore I stop choosing this option and lock all button except the power button to turn on my phone.

Any alternate way to "wake" the phone from standby?

Hi all,
Is there a tweak or something that allows for other ways to wake the phone from standby?
At the moment i have found that removing the stylus or opening the keyboard is the only way to wake the phone, to me this is kind of a odd behavior.
What if i want to make a one handed phone call, the above methods for bringing the device back to life is uncomfortable at best.
The mode i describe as standby is keys locked and screen powered down, in a perfect world i would like to press home and have the screen power up "dimmed" so that i can see where the unlock buttons are and go from there.
Is there a solution to this?
Im new to phones of this sort so if there is a generic solution i am not aware of it
Since nothing of relevance came up during my search im guessing that i am the only one who sees this as a problem?
Press the power button
ohh
Thank you
that was really funny but it's okay..
I press my bluetooth hands-free button for that.
OK with bluetooth hands-free button but starts voice dialer too.

Could you please be more specific for the newbies here; i.e. from what height should you drop it, what surface is more effective (concrete, damp grass, wood chips?), should you let it just drop from your hand or actually throw it, etc
Thanks.
to be certain of dropping it properly you should do it from at least a 5th floor window, tho 8th is reccomended.
i believe the best place to try to wake the phone from standby would be the empire state building. always works like a charm when i throw my phones, laptops and tv`s to wake up (others)
I dropped my phone from the 8th floor, but now it "crashed"
Interesting to see that you found a thread that has been dead for 6 weeks just to make fun of the issue i had.
My bet is that you searched yourself to this thread since you had the same "problem" as i did
all joking aside he actually had a good question. we all know the power button wakes up the phone, however i would like to know if there is a way to have the center d-pad button wake the phone up instead of or in addition to the power button.

I would like this or just a simple tap on the screen should wake it. I think there should also be a "screen lock" when it sleeps like the Iphone
i found then when your on a call and the screen turns off, you can wake it back up by press down on the scroll wheel.

I was thinking of mapping it to PTT, but center d-pad button would be even better and intuitive. Is there a way to do this mapping?
not sure, im sure anything is possible here at XDA. if it is possible im sure someone here can figure out how to do it.
Mapping PTT to "wake up" Fuze
Does any one know whether it is possible to map PTT (short press) to wake up fuze from standby. It's not all that convenient to reach the power button with one-hand operation.

When I press the menu button sometimes, keyboard comes up?

Sometimes, when I go to press the menu key on the phone my keyboard will pop up. When it does, the menu button's light turns off while the back key, search key and home key stay lit. It takes about 7seconds and then the menu button lights back up and I am able to hit the back key to take the keyboard off of the screen. This has happened on my home screen and in several other programs and even in settings menus. Any ideas on this? I'm not tech illiterate, but I can't find anything else on it. I am NOT holding the button down like a long press. I am aware of the fact that this is a normal function otherwise. But, this is acting strangely and very aggravating.
Edit: did a factory reset and deleted any apps having access to keyboard and the hold down menu for keyboard function is no longer there so that may have been a third party app. Hasn't done anything in a few minutes like it had been so maybe I lucked out. I also turned off haptic feedback on softkey presses to see if tmay help
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Okay, I am on the second factory reset and no apps just a fresh nexus s 4g and still persists to do it. It brings up the keyboard every once in awhile hitting the menu button and disables the other soft keys still. Won't let me do anything for about 7ish seconds
I'm having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?
Your keys are damaged it sounds like. I dropped my nexus s in the pool but caught it just as the bottom hit the water and afterwards the buttons wouldn't work or would all long press. Return it to the company or call your insurance.

Hard press home button options

Anyone know if there's a way to make the home button only work with a hard press? I'm not referring to unlocking the phone or turning on the screen, I'm asking about when using the phone or an app and wanting to press the home key, I would like the ability to disable a simple tap and make it feel more like a button by utilizing the pressure sensor. Anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks in advance
Look in Settings, Screen, Navigation bar, Home button sensitivity.

Try this-
set/display/navigation bar/Home button sensitivity
Sensitivity can only do so much, I have it on minimum for purely comfort, because it's much more effortless to unlock your phone when the tap doesn't have to be so intense. And if I really am force-pressing on the button area at any force, I am trying to unlock the phone, so I don't really see a point in having to press it with a lot of effort.
But I've found out that the button is very largely hardware-based, since it works and vibrates even when changing themes, when things like system UI are not active, and normal nav buttons and status bar are gone. So I doubt that any sort of third-party development will be done for it without root access, since the hard press function seems to work as a real button press, and not a virtual press.
