Something in ROM can't update.
I want to make a package to flash the new one into ROM only.
Is there any way to do?
Thanks.

What are you talking about?
Do you want to add a third party app to a rom?
Just drop it into /system/app or /data/app and re-sign it.

How do you create apk of built-in apps? I have AppInstaller which allows me to make backup .apk of apps that I install, but it does not show any of the built-in apps. I would definitely like to have .apk's of all built-in apps before flashing a custom ROM (when they become available), because I use QuickOffice a lot and it is included free - don't want to have to pay for it to add it back in to any other ROM.

DO NOT FLASH IT!!!!!!!
you can pull the rom apart and see all the system apks
Hi guys,
I am weighing the pros and cons of flashing to a custom JB ROM and one thing that is holding me back is losing city id from the stock AT&T ROM.
I've searched high and low for the city id apk file but can't find it anywhere. I've even tested out some caller id apps but hate them.
Any suggestions on how I can retrieve this app from my phone and install it into the custom rom?
Thanks in advance guys!!

It will be located in system/app
You could use Root Explorer to copy the apk to your sdcard and after installing a new rom copy and paste it to system/app and make sure to change the permissions on the apk reboot and then you have it.

There shouldn't be a problem using an app designed for stock rom on a custom rom?

I have used that on both stock and Viper XL so that is correct no problems :good:

I'm not paying for it but I found a workaround for using the trial period...
I just go to apps, and clear the cache every 2 weeks and it runs w/out asking me anything.
I don't mind having it on there b/c it's very subtle and clean. I don't have to go into any programs to see the call location, just shows up when someone is calling me.
Hi, I would like to know if it was possible to create a flashable zip archive with the recovery that would contain apk like the gapps ??
It would allow me to not install the apk one by one when I change rom.
Thanks for your answers

Hi Everyone,
Just tried Hydrogen OS rom and I very liked the launcher. However after extracting it from the .zip I am not able to get it installed.
Anyone able to modify the .apk?

Thanks.
It's possible that you need to install it as system app

Install through adb or as system app didn't work for me. Have you tried?
It's probably tied into the Hydrogen ROM framework, in which case you probably can't install it on any other ROM.

I installed a custom Rom on my att s6 but it has the stock browser removed and I want to reinstall it. Can anyone give me some instructions on how to do it?
Best to just install 3rd party browsers lile Opera, Firefox, etc... from the Playstore.

depending on the custom rom you have installed there could be a addon package for all additional Google and Samsung apps. What also works: grab the stock browser app (anywherre on the internet or from any addon package for other stripped down custom roms (like XtreStoLite) and place th apk in /system/app.

Because you do not install it. You just move it there, set permissions and reboot.
