How to install stock s6 browser on a stripped custom rom? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed a custom Rom on my att s6 but it has the stock browser removed and I want to reinstall it. Can anyone give me some instructions on how to do it?

Best to just install 3rd party browsers lile Opera, Firefox, etc... from the Playstore.

depending on the custom rom you have installed there could be a addon package for all additional Google and Samsung apps. What also works: grab the stock browser app (anywherre on the internet or from any addon package for other stripped down custom roms (like XtreStoLite) and place th apk in /system/app.

Because you do not install it. You just move it there, set permissions and reboot.

try this, open with winrar, 7zip, winzip or any archiever application, add your desire .apk file to system/app then flash it via CWM (system app only). This work for ICS CM9/AOKP, not tested yet to any GB ROM base, just let me know if its working

How do you create apk of built-in apps? I have AppInstaller which allows me to make backup .apk of apps that I install, but it does not show any of the built-in apps. I would definitely like to have .apk's of all built-in apps before flashing a custom ROM (when they become available), because I use QuickOffice a lot and it is included free - don't want to have to pay for it to add it back in to any other ROM.

Delete them from /system/apps/ or use titanium backup from the market.

First, you have to be rooted, here's how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787
and find your root here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253
and then you download some applications that can remove those stock apps.. i used SystemAppRemover.apk to do the job, you can google for it
i hope this helps.. cheers!
You might want to use app quarantine it definitely removes bloatwares. Sice you saying that youre planning to be on ics your phone would definitely be rooted thus, you can lock them uaing app quarantine from the market.
i think u will need to deodex ur rom for deleting unwanted apps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661

How to keep City ID app when installing custom ROM such as venomXL

Hi guys,
I am weighing the pros and cons of flashing to a custom JB ROM and one thing that is holding me back is losing city id from the stock AT&T ROM.
I've searched high and low for the city id apk file but can't find it anywhere. I've even tested out some caller id apps but hate them.
Any suggestions on how I can retrieve this app from my phone and install it into the custom rom?
Thanks in advance guys!!

It will be located in system/app
You could use Root Explorer to copy the apk to your sdcard and after installing a new rom copy and paste it to system/app and make sure to change the permissions on the apk reboot and then you have it.

There shouldn't be a problem using an app designed for stock rom on a custom rom?

I'm not paying for it but I found a workaround for using the trial period...
I just go to apps, and clear the cache every 2 weeks and it runs w/out asking me anything.
I don't mind having it on there b/c it's very subtle and clean. I don't have to go into any programs to see the call location, just shows up when someone is calling me.

Gallery app installing problem

Hi friends
I have copied Samsung s4 "SecGallery2013.apk"
"SecGallery2013.odex.xz"
And a file with ".so" extension.
When I try to install apk it does not install.
When I try to copy odex file to app and recompress them then it says another package with conflicting is already installed.
How can I install this app in my "QMobile W15" with Lollipop 5.1.
Do you really need this app? There are plenty of others, just saying. Also, I assume that you extracted it from your stock rom, right?

Its a stock app, you can't use it on a different device unless you port the app to work in the other device, Also, it's designed to work with touchwiz to have all its cool features, you won't have those touchwiz feature when you use it on the other device because that device doesn't have touchwiz. You might can port the touchwiz launcher from the S4 also and it might let you use the touchwiz features on the other device. No guarantees though.
