Sprint's 6.5 forces you to use "HTC messaging" over "WM messaging". Is there a fix? - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Sprint's 6.5 forces you to use "HTC messaging" over "WM messaging". Is there a fix?
The new Sprint OEM 6.5 ROM forces you to use the "HTC messaging" text messages now when responding to a incoming text or when you hit "SEND MESSAGE" from within a address book contact.
I absolutely hate the "HTC messaging" style of text messages for 4 reasons:
#1 You cannot use "My Text" to insert pre-written text messages
#2 The soft button shows "BACK" where it shows "SEND" on the "WM messaging" style
#3 You cannot add names to the "TO FIELD"
#4 The "HTC messaging" never saves to draft or allows cut and paste.
(This is a MAJOR pain in the ass when everything you typed gets deleted when you hit the soft button "BACK" because your conditioned to hit the same soft button for "SEND" in the "WM messaging" style.
How can I make the "WM messaging" style text message format the default style or even the only style of texts with the new stock Sprint 6.5 ROM ?????
Thank you.

I still have the Windows SMS/MMS manager after upgrading to 6.5.
Select the "SMS tab", then click "All Messages." This should take you to the Windows SMS/MMS manager.

The below is what I mean by "WM messaging" where you will see "SEND" and "MENU" at the bottom underneath the threaded texts.
The "MENU" below will allow you to insert "MY TEXTS".
Also, when composing new text messages in "WM Messaging" you can add multiple recipients by just typing out their names and all unsaved texts are automatically saved in "DRAFTS".
WM Messaging is MUCH BETTER than HTC Messaging.

well you can try to redirect the text messaging tab to the WM messenger (which is possible ,since there is a hack on redirecting the alarm button to your third party alarm).
or get used to the HTC messaging as I did when I first tried manila.
or disable HTC manila/sense altogether, which I just did when updating to 6.5.

Can someone be kind enough to spell out exactly what I have to do (in BABY STEPS) so that MS messaging is my default messaging screen. I want to avoid HTC messaging at all cost.
I say "baby steps" because I'm a complete "newb".
Thank you.

I disabled the Messages tab in the Home Screen Tabs. Then I added a Quick Link to Text on the Home Screen. Now all my texts are in WM messaging.

Thanks. I did the same thing as well.
But, with that method, you have to manually enter the name of the recipient.
I would like to be able to use the "Favorites" from the bottom of the home screen to quickly access a recipient name.
BUT, I want to be put into the "Windows Messaging Screen" when I choose "send message" in the contact card instead of being placed into the "HTC Messaging Screen".
Also, I would like to be automatically placed in the the Windows Messaging Screen when replying to a incoming text message as well. Currently, the software forces you to use HTC Messaging to return texts.
Can anyone help to make MS Messaging the default messaging screen instead of it being the HTC Messaging Screen?
Thank You.

why don't you just hit all messages on the bottom left of screen? that will open Wm messaging

Thank you. That's what I'm doing now.
But, whenever you hit"send message" from a "favorites", "contact card", or reply to an incoming text, the new ROM forces you to use HTC Messaging.
Also, the favorites is a MUCH faster way to add a recipient to a text message then having to type out the persons name. If you use "Favorites" you can add a recipient with a simply click, and then if you are brought to WM messaging instead of HTC messaging, you can use "My Text" to insert a pre-written message.
Having the ability to compose a new text with a few quick clicks should be NECESSARY for everyone.
HTC messaging is SLUGGISH and GIMPED. I want to automatically go into "WM messaging" so I can insert "My Texts" and multiple recipients.

I installed that CAB. Unfortunately, I'm still being placed into "HTC Messaging".
I am running the official SPrint 6.5 ROM released last week.

True. Thanks.
But, then you have to scroll or type out the name of the recipient. Unfortunately, I have a TON of contacts and that's not convenient.
I would like to be able to select a contact from "my favorites" in Sense 2.5, then hit "send message" in their card, and then be automatically placed into WM Messaging.
This way, when combined with the "My Texts" feature in WM Messaging, I can create and send a text with just around 6 taps of the screen.
This is the way is worked in the original ROM and I would like to find a way to modify Sense 2.5 to do the same thing.
Can anyone help us to make MW Messaging the default messaging screen so we can avoid HTC Messaging all together?
Thank you.

I was also interested in that cab and wondered exactly what it does. I think you should read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
as that is the original thread for that cab. there were some steps prior to installing the cab. I have no idea if it'll work for Sense, since it was made for Manila 2.5, but I don't see why it won't work since Sense and Manila are pretty much the same (sense is listed as manila in the registry).
also there is mention of it messing with the text notification or mms.
I would suggest just putting a quick link to "text messaging" app and removing the htc text messaging tab. that way you can go straight to your WM messaging (which I like a lot better as I can see all my new text messages when I get more than one instead of scrolling through the damn htc single message viewer).

Thanks for responding.
I am doing the above now, BUT, it forces you to type out the name of the recipient to add it to the "TO" field.
I LOVE the functionality of the "favorites" screen in Sense 2.5, I just HATE HTC Messaging. I would like to be able to use "Favortites", but just be placed into MW messaging and avoid HTC Messanger all together.
Can anyone help us find a way to make WM messaging the default text screen, while completely avoiding HTC messaging, while keeping Sense 2.5 ???
Thank you.

Why not just hit all messages down in the left, and use WM messaging?

That's what I'm doing now. But, I have to type out the name of the recipient.
I would MUCH rather use the "favorites" screen in Sense 2.5, BUT use WM Messaging only.
Furthermore, the stock Sprint 6.5 OEM FORCES you to use HTC messaging when sending a text from all "contact cards" or when respondig to incoming texts.
With my 6.1, I could use "my favorites" and "my texts" to send a complete text message with only a few taps on my screen. No scrolling. No typing.
This is not progress.

For me, I set "Text" as a tile, and when I click that, it takes me to the WM version automatically.. I actually prefer the HTC and I'm trying to figure out if there is a tile/icon I can use inplace of the "text" one to automatically bring up the HTC style text window. I don' twanna keep navigating the bottom TF bar just to get to it.

Why the hell would someone prefer a SLUGGISH and GIMPED text messenger screen (HTC Messenger) over WM Messenger that offers better speed, AND "My Texts" for inserting pre-written messages, AND the ability to add multiple recipients ?????

How about becuase I don't send to multiple recipients, and not lazy enough to use pre-written messages... and because it's not sluggish for me. so idk what you're talking about in that respect.

How can you not see how much lag there is with HTC Messaneger when compared to MW Messenger? It's obvious to me, and it's been obvious to the people that have posted about it as well on various forums.
Looking for the most efficient way to communicate with multiple people is not lazy. Sorry you feel that way.

Messaging goes straight to mms account

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid but I can find the answer. When I open messaging from the start menu it goes to the mms account which I don't use. I want it to go to the outlook account instead. It also does this from the htc home plugin if I click the left most message button. The text message (center button) does exactly what it's supposed to. I'm using the TNT 1437 touch rom. Any help would be great. Thanks
Sorry to bump but I still haven't found a solution to this.
Hi, you can always add text messaging to the front of your screen or even use the shortcut on the front but as for the problem your having, i have the same one, but i just work around it
same issue and I too would really like to change the default setting of that htc home link ....
Thanks to Urthwhyte for answering this for me in another thread. I don't know if you can go directly to an account via a registry change, but to at least get the bloody messaging to go to the chooser from HTC Home (because it should otherwise already go there if you have that option selected in Messaging options) - add another e-mail account. It doesn't have to be a valid one. I added my Gmail account and now the Chooser opens for me every time.

Quickest way to sms

Is there some way to have a shortcut for a new sms. I find it tedious to have to go to messaging, sms/mms, menu, new, sms! Used to be much faster before they lumped everything together.
go to the contact and tabhold and pick sms or text message or whatever they call it
and you got a new sms with the contact as add
for your sms'ing pleasure
Try program KeySwop: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-keyswop-v0-2-1.html
Install HTC Action Screen. It provides you with a screen with all "New ..." items (new sms, new mms, new contact, ... )

I use a shortcut with the following target...
"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to ""-body""
As a better post I'd upload it... but I can't find the upload button.

Thanks, already installed the htc action screen, works perfectly
Hello,
By the way i map the right softkey (contacts) from the HTC today in the bottom Right of the screen to the Action Screen by:
using a reg editor, create a key called "113" (if not there already) under:
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113
with the following values type REG_SZ
Default = Action Screen
Open = \windows\HTCActionScreen.exe
No soft reset is need, once you close your reg. editor it will show up.
quite handy i think....
cheers

1. Is there any way to disable sms notification bubble. I mean this cloud in bottom of the screen which appear when new sms / mms is received?
2. Is there some possibility or program which can help with mapping sms/mms button on full keyboard (draw out keyboard) to PocketCM?
Thanks for help.

with the threaded on there is your inbox setup like pocketcm with just one message per recipient or is it in order of message recieved and only threaded when you open it?
In threaded there is one message per person like in PocketCM.

Diamond2 - Change default text size on SMS messages

hallow all
i have an htc diamond 2 , only problem is on sms massages , text is too small and difficult to read, any ideas on how to make text letters on sms bigger???
thanks
Hi!
1) Slide touchflo to the settings tab (the last one)
2) Press the left soft button that should say something like all settings (or maybe "more", I don't have a WWE ROM so I really don't know what the button label is). This will bring up the regular windows mobile settings dialog.
3) Select the screen or display icon
4) In the screen dialog select the last tab at the bottom, I should say something like text size
5) Slide the text size slider to desired value
6) You may have to soft reset the device for the changes to be effective
Regards,
PK
Edited the thread title for a little more clarity.
Also, have you tried sliding your finger on the zoom bar? I know the original Diamond supports zooming SMS text with the capacitive area.

Hi!
I forgot about that simple solution, at least it works in my diamond2

thank you very much for your advice, i have try all but unfortunately nothinkg works, on received sms text still too small, any ideas ? or any program that might fix this?
Thanks
Hi!
Could you please provide some more information regarding how you actually reads your messages. There are at least 3 different places to read a SMS
1) The touchflo SMS tab
2) The touchflo contact SMS tab
3) The regular windows mobile messages application
The suggested solutions mentioned so far only changes the font size in the regular windows mobile messages application (alternative 3). I think the font size in the touchflo interface is hard coded by HTC, and is not changeable without decompiling the touchflo script files and changes the values. This is not something you wants to do, I guess there are only a couple of people in this entire forum capable of performing that task.
Regards,
PK

ok , nice question , now we getting somewhere , on regular windows sms i can read the text size which i have selected on my system - screen -text size, but needs for someone to play around with a couple of buttons to be able to see that text, also is not that user friendly , (for me at least).
now on the other two cases touchflo sms tabs and touchflo contact sms the text is very small. the last two cases i find it friendly and easy to use and navigate around your sms history with that person.
Thanks a lot.
Regarding SMS editing
DO you know how to solve the problem of the textbox size (to small, you can see only one or 2 lines) when editing an sms from the sms list view ? (e.g. when you want to reply on the same windows where you read the received sms).
Thanks
On WM6.1
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\RichEditHostFontFace
That's only the text box that you type in, not the window that displays the messages. If anyone know the messages one, let me know
In settings there is a setting where you change the text size. Make that bigger and SMS will be bigger..

ALWAYS request SMS receipt report from TouchFLO SMS interface

Hi,
There is a WinMo setting to always request SMS receipts when using the WinMo interface to send SMS. When you are using the nicer Topaz SMS view one has to always manually re-select this. This is annoying. Is there some kind of Manila registry setting?
I think there is two seperate settings for this.
start messaging app (programs - all programs - Message app, i got swedish D2) then select menu then options. Select sms/mms and tick box for message recipt.
The other setting im not certain about, for the touchflo, but it should be somewhere.. Write back if this doesn't help.
ah, hang on a minute. I just tested this and I also need to manualy check the box for recipt. Annoying, bah.. Why have two individual settings for this?
HD tweak has no setting for this..
I'm also looking for this answer....

Yes, you can set up it in registry
[\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs]
Create a Dword key name “SMSDeliveryNotify” and set the value to 0x000001, if the key is already there, just change the value.
Save it to the registry and soft reset the device, and you are all done, now the “request message delivery notification” option is always ticked except when forwarding messages.
Or use Advanced Config

Tried to use it and it only changes the winmo default messaging app (this setting can allready be changed in options/settings for messaging), but still dont affect the manila SMS app.
You can try this yourself, press on favorite contacts - all people - select a person and then select the 2nd box on the left (sms icon) and type a message. Here you wont get a delivery notification unless you select menu - message option - request delivery notification.
Same bug mentioned here:
