Radio Upgrade Only

Sorry if this is a real [email protected] question but I want to upgrade my (MDA Compact alike) Orange M500 but only the radio version is this possible? I can't seem to find a procedure on how to do this.

1. decompress the rom file(it's a exe) with Winrar.
2.U will find 3 nbf file.
3. remove 2 of them EXCEPT the radio).nbf
4. perform the update

AFAIK this is not possible.
The only optional part during an upgrade is the Extended ROM for a Himalya (dont know the effects for Magician).
If you only supply the radio nbf, you will end up with a non-functionin device.

@edsub: You're wrong in case of the Magician.
@rvbcrs: Do as jackleung said - it will work flawlessly, because I did this myself already.

Also, if you upgrade/downgrade radio only, it will not erase your "big-storage" ROM!!

thks for the tip, indeed the bigstorage ROM remains after radio 'only' upgrade.
Just upgraded to (Qtek) radio 1.12, although haven.t seen any differences with 1.11.

Best Radio WM6.1 czech republic

Hi guys anyone could recommend radio working in czech republic with no missed calls. I am uctaly using Radio 2.19.11 which seemed to be the best for most people here but not for me. I used it with many ROMs and i can still report missing calls and on TNT 19199 missing sms as well. I tried to fing Radio 2.71 but with no success. All download links are dead I would apreciate any recommendations from anyone here
Is it ok to flash only radio to G4 device. I mean to make nk.nbf file with just radio image? thanks for help...

You should try with TNT 19199 v.2 and radio 2.69. I used and didn't meet miss call problems.

Actually i am using S.V.I. 19209 Back in Black. You have a link for ROM 2.69 ?

I have radio version 2.69.11 and no problems. I move in Jihočeský kraj and Vysočina, Prague, Brno. ROM i have TNT 19999 V2 . Verzi 2.69.11 mohu poskytnout.

Check the XDA-Wiki,you'll find all the radio Roms listed there for download.
Secondly,you don't have to make nk.nbf file with just radio image for flashing a Radio Rom,it comes as a self installing package with its own RUU just like a Rom (OS),as it doesn't include any IPL/SPL(Bootloaders) in it,its absolutely safe to flash to any device,G3 or G4.Just hook up the phone with pc via usb and run the RUU in the Radio Rom,it'll start to flash and wud hardly take a minute or so.

i have found two radio roms on xda wiki, but not 2.71.11 :-(

Newbie Questions

Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to change the radio of a flashed a rom. I've found some very nice rom's but each one has some flaws. The one I would like to use (Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19209 + 32mb pp) has an issue with the camera which might be solved by changing the radio (If what i've read is correct).
When I flash my device, I tend to use the JUMP SPL (1.56 or 1.93) because I experience what is called "the white screen issue". (you can read everything about this at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061). Hard SPL just won't work.
Questions:
- How to flash only the radio, keeping the selected ROM.
- Can I change the radio using "Jump SPL" or do I need another tool to unlock the device?
- Soms Roms, when using Jump SPL, just won't load. Why? Is there another way around this white screen issue?
- Is there an "idiot-proof" ROM-flashing guide?

With the JumpSPL you should NOT flash radio roms, OS roms or full roms! So, flash HardSPL with JumpSPL to unlock your Kaiser first, then you can go forward to flash radio.

Flashing a new radio will not affect your current ROM load. Do understand that you should make sure that the Radio you are flashing is compatible with the ROM build you are using currently. A good place to look is HERE and HERE. Much thanks to AlltheWay!!

Jump SPL > Hard SPL > Radio
Flash a radio only rom won't change the os rom installed on your device.

search for a thread called the ultimate radio rom by
alltheway
it will give you excellent start up
battery benchamrking
radio/rom compatibility
dude sspl (jump spl) is not a wise choice... u should have a hardspl installed otherwise u can get bricked pretty easily

After hard-spl...simple question

I everybody i'm new here but it's fantastic.plenty of helpful things.OK that's my question:I have a kaiser and i flashed the hard spl and it's ok.i got in the bootloader:
KAIS130 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
So it's ok,the bootloader is patched.now,i have windows mobile 6,and i want to install the ROM "tir 8k ITA",from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437860 and i read it was windows mobile 6.1
So my question is:do i have to upgrade to wm 6.1 and then flash the rom or i just do it without upgrading?Thnks bye

No you don't. The ROM you're looking at will install 6.1 for you. Read his instructions on that link and if you have a problem, post it in that thread.

Each chef will let you know if they included the radio or not. If they didn't include one, they will tell you which one is recommended and more than likely will give you a link to that radio....hope this helps...

Most roms come with a radio but some don't, read the rom thread and then go here to flash the recommended radio.

Perfect now i flash the radio and then i reboot and then i flash the ROM with the tir 8k?Can i let the pda turn on after installing the radio or this may cause problems?Gr8 Thanks bye

Please read the flashing first ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835 all the steps are there.

If you're flashing a WM6.1 rom you may also want to change your hardSPL from 1.0.OliPof to one of the 3.xx series SPL's. The older SPL can cause some newer roms to hang, slow down etc. I use SPL3.29 which works fine form most WM6.1 roms.

And it's very fast,even with the old version of hardspl.If i wanna speed it up.Can i just flash the 3.xx hard spl?after do i have to RE-FLASH the rom with "tir 8k"?
Problem:I have a TIM sim,but the pda still connects to the 3 tim band.Before i had the 3 brand rom but now i should be able to connect to the band i want.why can't i?Thanks bye

flash the 3.xx spl the same why you flashed 1.0...it wont format ur device, meaning all your "stuff" will still be there...no need to re-flash the rom..

sorry for the post i didn't see it,anyway i'm reflashing the hardspl 3.xx as you told me.
Sorry for my english,i'm italian,i'll try to elaborate the sentence u didn't understand.
Well,before i reflashed the tir 8k rom and hardspl, i had the default rom with windows mobile 6.i have as phone operator TIM and so the sim card is TIM.but when it turned on it was always used to connect to 3g tim,which is not my connection,because i have a TIM sim card.so i realised that if i would have installed the new rom no brand,i could have connected to the TIM connection,NOT 3g TIM connection.Why still it connects to 3g tim even if i flashed the no brand rom?Why it behaves like before when it was brand 3?Help i explained better...Thanks bye

removing hardspl

hi guys i installed the 3vloution series rom and when i wish to change it back to the original htc rom it gets disconnected and connected at 14%.. however it hangs at 27%..
help appreciated

yes, that behaivior can I confirm. My Snap do the same. A reflash to the EVO rom afterwards works fine...
Any Ideas...how to get the orginal 6.5 back to the Snap?

I found a woking way to go back to the original ROM (and SPL) . But I'm quite sure, that it isn't the easiest way to do that - it killed my nerves and pushed me into desperation in the meantime
Before I was on SPL 1.17 and the flash of original ROM hung at 26%
Sounds crazy, but that's what I did:
1) flashing Hard SPL 1.19
2) flashing Original SPL 1.19 (TriColor Screen showed 1.19 0000)
3) tried to flash Original Snap WM 6.5 ROM GER
=> flash hung at 17%
4) tried to flash 3VO Evolution
=> Error, because of Original SPL
=> not possible to flash Hard SPL, because ActiveSync-Connection is required
At that time desperation grew to panic. NOTHING worked, so I thought I broke it and can't get it to life anymore
5) tried to flash Original Snap WM 6.5 ROM GER again
=> flash hung at 17%
=> at next start I realized that SPL-Version had changed to SPL 1.23 0000
6) tried to flash Original Snap WM 6.5 ROM GER again
=> flash worked and the Snap is back to delivery status
maybe it will work for you too

just go to jockyw website install the original sslp NOT the HARD sslp
and it should update like normal

Please have a look at the 4th sticky in this forum. It's a little bit hidden but the title is about "HardSPL, Original SPL and JockyW"...
And then I recommend to perform the steps in the order I stated before.
