N95 8GB is a very stable phone. It's slider is very good quality, and it does not wobble at all. However, the slider is very sensitive to friction and pushes so if you leave it in your pocket it can slide out without you noticing it.
Nokia N85 is the worst N95 successor that I have ever touched. The N85's optical navigation pad only works like an iPod navigation wheel. However, the navigation is extremely nonsensitive and is poorly implemented. Sometimes the wheel doesn't scroll through the list, and it sucks so much that it takes 10 seconds to scroll through a list that pushing the down button on the D-pad will do it in 5 seconds. The N85 speakers are low quality and not as loud as the N95's. The camera is very good, but the phone itself is beautifully designed. It's slider is also very good quality, except it is not sensitive to friction. Therefore, it will never open on its own when you leave it in your pocket. To be honest though, this phone really sucks.
Remember there is a difference between a loose slider and a sensitive slider. The N95 8GB version has a very sensitive slider.
Xperia X1 is a good windows mobile phone. It is very slow, and it's very thin but it's an eye catcher that is fun to experiment with. But typing on the phone is uncomfortable. When people are forced to slide out the phone and use the uncomfortable keyboard, they begin to feel that the phone is uncomfortable. The causes for discomfort sometimes derives from the misconception of size.
The phone is very, very small. If you are willing to sacrifice comfort and ease of use for the good looks and feel flashy, then get this phone.
The HTC Magic is a lower end of the higher end phones. I have never used it but if I had to choose, I would still choose the Xperia X1 over this.
I have used all but one of the phones you mention. Anyways, do not buy the Xperia if you have no idea what you are dealing with. Just trust me on this.
HTC Magic -> user friendly for tech-illiterate people
Xperia -> beautiful phone for catching girls (just don't let the girl use it, cause Windows Mobile is not user friendly)
N95 -> best multimedia phone you can get
N85 -> beautiful phone, but you won't get any girls

woah this was posted yesterday o.o, its 2010, my advice pick the newer models N95 and N85 are really old,
u could consider the xperia X2, HD Mini, htc HERO/Legend/Desire/HD2
theres much more better choices

Considering Orbit 2...a few questions

I currently have a Blue Angel and I'm considering upgrading to an Orbit 2.
How would the performance compare between the 2? They're both 400MHz, but I just wondered how the Qualcomm is compared to the XScale?
Apart from the video driver issue, are there any other problems with it? I'd mainly be usig it for a phone, and running Tomtom.
Thanks!
Seriously... Don't bother!
LOL...it's that bad?
Can you explain why?
You will miss your qwerty. I don't know your Blue Angel, But my TC (i think all PocketPCs) has a delay when somebody calls you. Your phone will ring/vibrate after the one who calls you hears the first ring. So if somebody just gives you a call with one ring (bip) you won't hear it! Is it the same in your case, or mine is special? Maybe somebody else with TC can confirm/infirm this...
Yea, mine sort of have that sort of dealy.
I don't use my QWERTY keyboard anyway so that's not a problem.

Just everything about it...
The build quality is terrible. Feels like a new hobbyist threw it together in 5 mins.
It seriously underperforms compared to my Old SE P990i and older XDA's
The modifications o2 have made to the software are rubbish.
I'm miffed I didn't hold out for the SE X1i
^ In your opinion, yes its not perfect, the screen is less than ideal but the build quality is great I think. Much better than my old SE P series phone which used to creak whenever squeezed etc and the flush screen is better than orbit 1
But I would hold out for the Diamond
I want the built in GPS, and the Diamond prices ae too much for what it is...
Any other decent HTCs with built in GPS?

I've just switched from a Hermes/Tytn to the Orbit2. HardSPL'd it and installed the WM6.1 that's been floating about here and installed TomTom.
Losing the keyboard is a bit annoying (on screen is usable, but nowhere near as good) - but I realized I very rarely typed anything and smaller sized massively outweighs it.
GPS works very well - especially as Quick GPS which really does work.
Downsides:
Lost keyboard.
Upsides:
GPS - now just not having to lug around and charge my BT GPS module, but now much faster and lets me do all manner of stuff (geo-tag photos with a reg tweak), GPS trackers allowing me to see where I've been in google maps blah blah.
Much better camera - not so much the 2M -> 3M change - but AUTOFOCUS.
SMALLER - now it's not a small phone, but it's not an f'in brick like the last one.
No real difference noticed between the processors. Latest 6.1 I put on my Hermes made it lovely and snappy - and performs exactly the same on the Polaris. Only reservation I've got with the polaris is the screen res (i.e. same old rubbish). Not entirely convinced Hi-res WM is much better though after playign with colleagues PDAs - I've got an ipod touch and THAT is what i'd want somehow wedged into my phone..
In summary, if you want a phone now, I'd definitely get the XDA. If you can wait maybe see how Diamond and 3G iPhone stack up.
#edit - and build quality on my XDA (at least) is perfect. Nice solid feeling thing, love the slightly rubberized case.
Thanks very much for your opinion...I think I might just go with the Orbit 2 after all...a VGA screen would be nice, but I'm happy enough to have the standard one...and it's a little smaller than my BLue Angel so that's always a benefit.
Seriously this is an outstanding device. Software is software and any issues can 99% of the time be sorted with it and normally are, especially when you browse around these forums. Also bare in mind that all these devices now use windows mobile so I don't understand why someone would fault the Orbit 2 over another windows mobile device because of the software it comes with.....anyway the hardware itself is exceptional, I've posted a mini review if you look through my post history and there's plenty of in-depth reviews out there.
Losing the keyboard is a good thing in my opinion. A keyboard isn't necessary, its just as easy (if not easier) to use the software input (my personal preference is a T9 style pad that learns words and is very quick to use with just one hand like a normal phone) and obviously you save on weight and bulk.
The Orbit 2 looks great, is extremely responsive and comfortable to use and in my opinion is the best windows mobile device availible at this time.
Quick edit! - regarding the SW, the rom that the O2 Orbit 2 comes with is actually fine anyway, i've never encountered any issues with it - it would be nice to have the threaded SMS that 6.1 has but aside from that its fine and works great. Cheers!
SOunds like you're pretty damn happy with it then
So the 200MHz processor isn't an issue? Still responds well? Thing like TOmtom run well?
The Orbit 2 has a 400MHz CPU, it was the original Orbit that had 200 -it also has twice the amount of memory. TomTom was perfectly useable on the original Orbit but it noticeably runs smoother on the Orbit 2 - The Orbit 2 is a lot better at managing multiple tasks at the same time.
I was in two minds before upgrading becasue I had the original Orbit and wasn't sure if I'd get my money's worth. I was going to send it back if I wasn't happy with it. I'm more than happy with it though as you can tell! its a great device. You've always got that 14 day cooling period with O2 anyway so you may as well give it a go for yourself.
doh...you're right...I was thinking of the original Orbit.
No 14 day cooling off for me..I'm in Australia so the only way to get at a decent price is eBay.
I think I've been convinced to get the Orbit 2...just a pity it doesn't have VGA...and the diamond will probably be a fair amount more than the Orbit 2
Actually a the Diamond will be cheaper then the Polaris/Orbit2... But my oppinion is that the VGA is too much on a 2.8" screen...
The Orbit 2 is a damn good toy... after tuning the cache and graphic settings..speed was even better than before..
also gps works great...a lot of stuff in a small little case...
I am also happy with my orbit 2, copilot in mo is better then tomtom i have both installed.
I like golive's interface and extra settings plus the website for tracking is a good feature.
The Software available is none stop from here and other sources, unlike the iphone i had that you could only load decentish software if you hacked it..
a couple of minor gripes, the screen is a little shiny for sunny day use and the camera could be alot better.
apart from that i am very happy with it, let hops the diamond touch flo 3d becomes available then that will make this device look great.
the hsdpa speed is great when in the right areas, 50k download speed from my laptop...
the gps seems acurate enough, fast on a warm start as well.
its performance could be a little better but overall its very good.
I would install opera mini as i have found this much better then ie and opera mobile for day to day use.
as for the missing keyboard, try touchpal or the diamond keyboards, also make sure you adjust the sensivity of the screen do a search on here, i think the keyboard is great been software as you can load loads of different types and type quicker with the stylus on some over a flip out keyboard.
the flip out keyboard types can be a little thicker as well you cannot replace or remap keys like a software keyboard so there are plus's and minus's to both concepts...
if you type alot then get a bluetooth keyboard, or a laptop.....
i don't think you will b unhappy with your purchase...
Actually imho any HTC device when just introduced will very rarely be upto my expectation and initially i am always dissapointed, for the first few days, its just a matter of customizing(a heart felt thanks to this forum for teaching us how too) to our personal choice and then i just can't seem to live without them. When i took the Cruise i returned it the next day, very dissapointed with the handset, nothing it could do(and in the factory state it could'nt domuch)was enough,I thought that my Kaiser was far better, then after going through the Cruise forum went and picked it up again, customized it and now wonder how did I ever think negatively abbout this handset,I just love it the feel of it in my hand and also the perfomance, ended up keeping both the Kaiser and Cruise without regrets.

Still Deciding between Touch Pro/FUZE and Xperia X1

When the X1 was first announced, I was all over it. Then the Touch Pro with TF3D was announced, and I thought... the X1 is too 'raw' compared to the 'slick' Touch Pro, so Touch Pro for me!
Then I tried the FUZE (AT&T's Touch Pro) and I was disappointed in a few areas where I was not expecting to be disappointed (details below).
So, as it stands today, I am leaning back toward the X1 over the FUZE (TP). But it's a close call, and I'm still undecided. Here’s why:
1. Xperia hardware looks like a device that I would be proud to be paired with. In other words, just like Apple, Sony understands that a gadget can also be a fashion accessory. That’s a 2-fer in terms of value-add.
2. I have found the FUZE to be too heavy and bricky to be really pocket-friendly. This was a major disappointment when I checked it out at AT&T last week! I was all ready to buy the FUZE when I realized that it would take a serious adjustment to have that kind of weight and thickness in my pocket. It remains to be seen how I feel about the X1’s weight and thickness (since it's not released yet in the States). But, in terms of the specs published, the X1 looks to be about .5oz lighter than the FUZE. NOTE: The FUZE for some odd reason seems to be .5oz heavier than the Sprint Touch Pro and the HTC Touch Pro. No idea why.
3. The X1 has more hard buttons on the front panel, and more easily pressed hard buttons on the front panel. I have heard serious complaints about the “up” arrow on the X1 d-pad, but I will have to see for myself if that is insurmountable. I have played with FUZE, and the front panel buttons are not confidence-inspiring. I feel like it’s a negotiation with each press of the dpad.
4. The absence of the g-sensor on the X1 is stunning, and quite disappointing. What a huge bummer. What the heck was Sony thinking? G-sensors = cool + fun. Xperia = cool+fun. What am I missing?
5. The FUZE is about $175 w/plan on AT&T, and the X1 will be around $700 retail in a few weeks (with coupons, etc.). Yikes, that’s not a marginal difference in price, is it? I’m not sure I can justify a 4x price difference for a phone that is about 1.5x as good. Or, can I? Well, it’s like buying clothing: I can spend $200 on a shirt or $10 on a shirt. They both cover my torso about as effectively, but which one do I want people to see me paired with? This goes back to the gadget-as-accessory frame.
6. Panels. I figured they would be a dead platform as soon as 09, but the new facebook panel could be a game-changer. It shows how Panels could be the equiv to iPhone apps! Will panels have market mojo? What incentives are Sony peddling for developers to get on board? What kind of penetration can panels have if limited to only 1 device? Very chicken/egg situation here, and kind of a risk for X1 owners if they are relying on panels to breathe life into WM6.1.
7. TouchFlo 3D on X1. If this really ends up being portable to the X1 with 100% functionality and no bugs, then the X1 ends up being the more flexible device of the two. But 100% compatibility seems to be a ways off still, for many good reasons. Conversely, it is highly unlikely for several reasons that the TP would ever get panels. Sure, they might be portable over to the TouchPro HD, but that’s not the TP/FUZE, is it?
8. Keyboards. I’ve read some horrific reviews of the X1 keyboard, but they’ve been scattered and not consistent. So, I guess I’ll have to wait to actually try one myself to see how bad it really is. I tested out the FUZE keyboard, and I know it gets rave reviews, but coming from my HTC S710/Vox, I found the lack of space between the keys troubling. I’m sure I’d get used to it, but it seems like the X1’s layout (with spaces between keys) is more like my S710’s layout, which I find quite comfortable to type on. I am quite concerned about the lack of tactile feedback on the X1 keyboard, though. If there’s no feedback, then what’s the point of a hardware keyboard? Again, reviews have not been satisfactory around this aspect of the X1, so I’ll have to wait to see for myself.
9. Touchiness. I found the FUZE to be fiddly with touch sensitivity. Too often, a swipe was interpreted as a select, which was quite annoying. I've read that the X1 has a better touch experience, but that will be something I'll have to xperience myself, I guess.
10. Screen rotation. OK, big minus for X1 to have no G-sensor, but big plus for X1 for its apparent "instant switch" technology between landscape and portrait modes! I've seen some videos and it's quite impressive in Opera. One of the reasons why I 'dread' to go to my slide-out keyboard on my S710 is due to the lag. It's just painful to wait. If there were no "wait tax" on using the slide-out keyboard, I might go to it more readily.
11. Dpad+ features. The FUZE has the circular zoom thang, and the X1 has the glidey thing. No idea which is preferable. Both are interesting in their own way.
So, this is where I am right now re: X1 v. FUZE. To be honest, I am kind of looking for excuses to cheap out and get the FUZE just so I'm not spending $700 on a friggin phone. But the thickness and weight are things that I'd have to adjust to.
Does anyone have any thoughts/comments/additions to this analysis?
Jon
[cross-posted on Xperia X1 and Raphael forums so I can get both viewpoints]
I too was stuck between the X1 and Touch Pro. But I think the X1 hideous. The specs are pretty much the same but you lose the G sensor and only gain .2in of screen. But the 3in screen is narrower then the TP so it looks smaller when your looking at the phone the in one hand. But they keyboard is what really killed it for me :-(.
I just returned my Xperia and should have my Fuze from Amazon tomorrow. I loved everything about Xperia except the buttons below the screen. I just couldn't accept that quality on a $700 phone. I got Fuze only as a short-term toy as it cost me only $100 after $25 rebate from Amazon. I plan to sell it as soon as I see something more impressive. Maybe N97, or an Android phone. Whatever it is, it should have 3G on AT&T as I am stuck with AT&T for 2-years.
My experience with Xperia in 2-weeks:
Tried all kinds of customizations from XDA including TF3D, spPanel skins, Youtube, XperiaTweeks, etc. In the end, I discovered Xperia out the box with just the following customizations makes it a beast of a phone if the front buttons don't bother you as much as they bothered me.
1. XperiaTweaks has to be the best. It lets you customize some little annoying things with Xperia like increasing font size, sorting contacts by FirstNames, default panel on startup
2. Blackstone Keyboard
3. Youtube installed as a panel
4. Facebook Panel
I was totally impressed by TouchFlow3D as a panel as it has a WOW factor to it. But, each day I found myself going back to the Sony Ericsson Panel that I customized with weather, e-mails, RSS feeds, calendar, etc. Eventually, I made that as the default panel to start by Xperia using XperiaTweaks. Eventually, I un-installed the TF3D's as the Landscape fix program I installed for TF3D seems to be causing problems with my phone when I slideout the keyboard.
Some issues (some minor) I had with Xperia.
1. I could not reconnect to the Bluetooth of my GPS unit in my car if I stepped away for a short time with my phone. This didn't happen with my W910 phone. To get the Bluetooth work I had to restart my Xperia and even the GPS unit all the time.
2. Build quality of the buttons below the screen.
3. Sometimes I found myself sliding out the keyboard as I was holding the bottom part of phone hard.
4. Hard to select menu's with finger. Ended up getting used to D-pad.
5. The Picture ID on my W910 shows a picture that covers almost half the screen and I can easily see while on Xperia the picture is about the size of a penny and is almost useless. The call logs also show the names so tiny and is almost impossible to go through the call logs while driving.
I would go for the Touch Pro
The best phones I have ever had were Sony Ericssons (T637, P910a) and I too lusted after an Xperia but...
1. SE is dying or dead already
2. SE and HTC are, reportedly, parting ways
3. There isn't and won't be enough units running the panels interface to make it attractive for developers to bring apps
So, if you spend the $ on the Xperia, you'll be sitting on the sidelines, watching windows mobile for VGA developers aping the cool apps coming for the iPhone and wishing that more than just a small percentage would work on your SE.
Just my $0.02.
TouchPro vs. X1
I too was lusting after the SE X1 after it was announced (about a year ago) and said "that is my next phone".
I read website after website with videos, reviews/previews, etc.. and I couldn't have been more excited for "my phone" to be released here in the states.
Well....it came time for a decision a few months ago and the X1 still wasn't widely available in the states so I waited....and waited. Delay after delay from SE and the comparisons for the TouchPro and X1 were starting to trickle out and they weren't looking good for the X1. Yeah, the panel interface was amazing if utilized proficiently but the interface was laggy. The phone was expensive and the keyboard was terrible.
I was coming from a Hermes (8525) so I was fairly pleased with my existing keyboard and once I saw the Sprint version of the TP I was hooked. The keyboard is brilliant. For someone who emails/txt dozens of times/day the new TPO keyboard is a HUGE time saver. Long gone are the days of softkey input for special commonly used characters "@", "(", ")", etc.. This just made for a more streamlined user experience. The X1 is restricted by having only four rows of keys. The same as my Hermes.
Yeah, the X1 has the panels and that gorgeous screen (and it is beautiful!) but with the exact same internals I see no real world benefit in owning one.
Just my opinion.
JC

FUZE size is a bit awkward at first...I switched to it from an iPhone, but after about 3 days it was only natural. In a way, I always liked a bit larger / heavier phone because you know its there. Every smaller / skinnier phone i've had (compared to the fuze or 8125) I often felt naked with even when it was in pocket.

I had the same problem with the stock rom...however, with tf3dconfig tweaks (or registry edits directly should you so choose) it responds MUCH nicer and I no longer run into these problems. There may also be a small degree of "self training" on this one.

circle zoom is no iphone multitouch, but it works pretty damn well with opera in my experiences. Also nice for text size in messages etc.
I think from your feelings, you may be best off getting the fuze and using it for a while, and maybe picking up a used X1 down the line. That said, ive never even got to hold an X1...but i have trouble imagining its worth 2-4x the price of the fuze. But...if its really a fashion / toy thing to you - you could very well feel differently.
While some may argue you should have no initial complaints with a device - and that may be true, but it isnt the reality today with 99% of phones for 99% of people - its sort of expected you have some gripes with some aspects. That said, most of your feelings seem spot on with things that I initially pandered about but soon adjusted to. I was just happy to have service in my living and travelling area again (goddam iphone...)
I also think kitsVA, dgduris, and jcotterman all hit very VERY valid points on the software side of thigns, so I will not bother getting into that.
good luck in whatever your decision may be!
I went through this dilemma too. I calculated that I would save around $200 if I went for a used TP rather than a used xperia. With $150-200, you could get an unlimited data plan for a year, or buy a working GPS, etc. etc.
The touch pro isn't bad if you don't wear tight pants. I have a wallet which is much larger in dimension than my TP! I come from a very thin razr I once fit in my pocket and the change didn't both me.
Good luck with your choice!

Upgrading from N95, How disapointed Will I be?

I need some help people. I will be upgrading from my N95 this year. I am currently very pleased with the functionality of the phone, it does everything I could possible want, and it does it fairly quickly. I love the Speakers and the multimedia capabilities. So, I wanted to know, if I choose to upgrade to the X1 (Rogers will be getting it this year), how disappointed will I be? I really want a touch screen phone with a qwerty keyboard, so i'm stuck between the X1 and the touch Pro.
I was originally going for the Touch Pro, but I like the larger screen on the X1 and the ability to put Yado or Yada ( forget how to spell it) tabs or what ever in it. Also, there seems to be a large amount of complaints as to the build quality.
I will of course be testing the devices when they are released a month or two from now, but wanted some input. If I ultimately don't like either device I will be upgrading to the N96, selling it and buying the N97 unlocked later on this year.
So I guess my main question is, How disappointed will I be if I choose to upgrade to the X1 or the Touch pro?
Edit* do either of the phones support hand writing? And how accurate is it?
Well...
Both X1 or Touch Pro are great devices, and OS Windows Mobile 6.1 is much much greater than any Symbian OS, appart from that upgrading to any of those you mentioned you´ll have the support of this great site (Not with Nokia)
My personal recommendation would be the X1, and don´t think you will disapointed.
Good luck on your decision!
i went from a n95 to a touch diamond. i still miss the ease of use of the n95. im kinda regretting the decision.
Why not wait for the N97 if you're already so at home with the Symbian OS?
Myself, I can't pick just one phone. I have a Nokia E90 and an O2 XDA EXEC and depending on what I need to use my phone for on a particular day, I put my SIM in the phone most suited for this. And Nokia PC Suite and WMDC both work well allowing me to keep all my stuff up to date on both phones.
I upgraded from the e90 because of the touch screen.
Well, forget to be fine with WM, i am very disappointed.
Wait for n97.
alessio
The thing is, If I upgrade to the X1 or Touch Pro I will get a $650 credit. If I dont I have to pay out of pocket, or upgrade and sell the phone.
I love symbians functionality, but its boring IMO. I like the eye candy of touch flow more.
With the N97, i dont like the Dpad being on the left, and as I stated before, S60 is boring . So I think I may just end up going to the X1.
There are a lot of stuff far worse done by the current HTC or S-E lineup:
- camera
- no call recording
- no stereo speakers
If you (would) use these, go for the N97 instead.
S60 is boring indeed... I've been a symbian S60 user for many years and I don't regret switching to wm 2 years ago... With wm the possibilities are endless...
Most S60 3rd Ed devices are very easy to use compared to wm devices but that's because they're designed to act more like feature phones even though they're actually smartphones. so you may find the X1 or Pro a bit complicated at first but after a while you'll love having a full fledged pc in your pocket
With wm you can do most of the stuff that you can do on a PC...

With wm you can do most of the stuff that you can do on a PC...

Yes, but when used as a plain phone or as a multimedia device, unfortunately, HTC's current lineup has major problems. This is why I'm not absolutely sure he (she)'ll like the change.
Just remember that although the screen on the X1 may be "bigger" it is significantly narrower, that 480 pixel width occupies a smaller space. The X1 is definately an impressive device, but when compared to my touch pro, the narrow screen and lack of accelerometer were the deal breaker for me.
Mind you I love the panel interface which aaaaalmost makes up for it, but I love my TP and dont regret my decision in the slightest

How much worse is the quality of the camera on the X1? I dont mind no call recording, and stereo speakers is something that I might worry about. How decent are the speakers though, compared to the N95?

Good to hear about ur positive switch. WM looks complicated looking at all the different ROMs and Radios which can be flashed.

I find that im just using the accelerometer for playing ball games such as marble maze (similar to teeter I think) on my N95.
I always thought that the screen was bigger on the Touch Pro width and Length? So that means its just longer?
Have you experienced and issues with your phone? And how did the keyboard compare to the X1's?
Do both phones support hand writing recognition?

I got the HTC touch hd, and dont know what your talking about, the camera is great, ot only doesnt have a flash, but what flash on any mobile phone does create good pictures in the dark? I have yet to see a single phone that takes good looking pictures in the dark. I got call recording on it but ok i installed that custom. Stereo speakers are overrated imho, because any phone speakers suck anyway, at least for playing music, you should play music with earbuds, or trough car radio.

1.I think you are right, the x1 seems longer, but it is the same.
2.I prefer the keyboard to the touch pro.
3.Both support handwriting recognition.

Yea, im sure their good, but coming from the N95, Carl Zeiss Optics lens + 5mp Camera. But it did suck at night shots.
I actually enjoyed listening to music through the N95 when im doing something and I dont want earbuds getting in my way.

Good to know u liked the X1's keyboard more than the touch Pros. Touch Pros just seems more functional, and I like the rubbery feel (at least on Bells CDMA version)
Ok, so I can writing something with the stylus, and it will transfer it into text? So I can use it as an alternative text input method?
When you buy a S60 v3 FP1 phone, that will stay a S60 v3 FP1 phone forever.
I bought my Himalaya, brandnew, running Windows 2003 long time ago (cant remember the date). Comes the Windows 2003SE, I was able to upgrade it to Windows 2003SE. Then the Magneto, to Crossbow, and now, my beloved aging Himalaya is running WinMo 6.1. I'm hoping that there's a 6.5 upgrade for Himalaya.

Touch Pro 2

I was curious as to how many folks are planning on running out to buy the Touch Pro2 when their carrier releases it? I am pondering that question myself as the specs on it do not blow away the FUZE with the exception of the screen and speaker phone.
I am running RRE 6.5 v8.3 and love it but I am really interested in WM7. Having read about the upcoming release I am worried the TP2 will not be powered up enough to run WM7. It sounds like WM7 will require a snapdragon processor to run the UI.
What are your thoughts?
no, i had only just got the TP when the TP2 was announced, dont think my next phone will be HTC
i will most definately get it as soon as i can . i personnaly don't like the d-pad if there would be more screen space there . my fuze is only 6 months old and its rickety as a 80 year old man :[[[ it wobbles .
the speakerphone is a big thing for me i use it alot and don't want a bluetooth earpice so its really the only way to go . if they are gonna make wm 7 its going to run on the tp2 weather or not the specs say so lol . what did you read that lead you to that assertation?
I will be getting one as soon as I can. For me there is one main reason - screen size.
I LOVE the fact the HTC community and how they create roms and hacks... but the phone itself drives me crazy.
The main things that suck with the Touch Pro is the volume (not that loud), the design like said earlier... it creaks, and the touchpad and button layout (not the keyboard).
My next phone will need either Capacitive touchscreen with onscreen keyboard or a physical QWERTY (non sliding), a JOG WHEEL, Windows Mobile 6.5 or better, a decent Dpad. Also a standard screen size. Those 400x400 or funky screen res make gaming complicated. Standard VGA works for me.
The Samsung Jack looks awesome if they would just put Windows Mobile on it instead of the smartphone version. I have lots of apps that require a touchscreen. I liked the Epix but the lack of a jog wheel and a dpad made it useless. If it had WM6.5 for the Epix, it wouldn't be so bad since its more finger friendly.

well, i recently upgraded from the Samsung Blackjack II to the Touch Pro (almost a month with the new phone)
things i missed from the BJ II
- BJ II's speakers were stereo, and were loud and good... TP's one were soft
- Simpleness of WM 6.1 Smartphone... not as much customization, but the default settings worked out better IMO (TP's settings, i had to spend over a week to make something close to what i want, but BJII only took a day and i liked those settings)
- (above mentioned) LED notification... believe there were 7 different colors that i can use(LEDALerts) to notify me of anything(missed calls)... TP only has that flashing circle... NOT ENOUGH, you hear me HTC?
what i want from future HTC WM Phones
- 3.5mm jack (HTC said yes already, so good on this one)
- capacitive screen(TP1 has capacitive area... change this? WM7 might prove to be the right time to do this?)
- blinking LED notification
- hardware keylock... my Dell x51v has a hardware lock that disables all inputs... useful and worth it to add it in
- basic powerful speakers...stereo if possible
that saying, i won't buy the TP2, unless i can find some soul on CL/ebay/forums to trade with a TP2 for a TP1+$100(?)

Job one is voice qulaity on a cell phone so the list above but fix the sound quality. I think the phone voice quality is lacking the the Fuze; incoming is very low and tinny, outgoing I get complaints like muffled and talking in a pipe. The phone voice quality on my Blackberry Bold and prior blackberrys is very good.
I agree the voice quality is not that good with the Touch Pro. I usually use mine with a bluetooth headset so it is not so much of an issue. The TP2 is supposed to have great sound quality on the speakers but i am sure it won't be that much better if you talk into it directly.
I think it may not be WM7 eligible because I think the device will have to be able to support multi touch. I am thinking that as soon as TP2 comes out we will start to hear about TP3. HTC says they will have snapdragon phones launching in Q2 2010.
No improvement in voice quality, I'm going to pass for sure. I did read where the AT&T version will have a 3.5mm jack and someone had a photo of the Sprint version with the jack shown.
I'd really like the upgrade ability to WM7 but if the screen was better in the sunlight, improved voice quality and the 3.5mm jack, I'd probably buy it.
Latest and Greatest
I will not jump on one when they are first released but I do want one. I just always have to have the latest and greatest but I'm gonna wait a couple of quarters to see where the competition is at. LG and Ericsson are starting to go WM, so as more manufactures enter the market, perhaps better hardware will follow.

i usually have bluetooth or headsets..... don't really care that much about voice quality as at&t's quality - ..... i take my phone more as a multitasking device than a calling device...

The Nokia E90...has anyone ever had it for atleast 6 months?

Hi, I'd like everyone's opinion on the Nokia E90, especially from the people who has owned it for at least half a year.
What do you think? How do you compare it to the best windows mobile phone you've had for at least half a year?
What are the Pros and Cons of the E90 in comparison to that windows mobile phone.
Do you think the phone is uglier or prettier when you saw it in real life?
One of my friends has had one for a while, about half a year, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. I thought it still looked ugly in person, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I liked the keyboard, and it was easy to navigate, but only used it for a few moments. I actually liked it better than my touch diamond 2 simply because its actually fast to use, but don't feel like switching to symbian

I have it. I had an Xperia X1 but it went really bad so I had to sell it. IMO I think it looks nicer than in the pictures and than the Xperia X1. Although I see grace in Xperia X1 and not the E90, I see the strong-macho-business man in the E90.
I also like the keyboard but it's not as good as Touch Pro2, but because I don't like using the stylus to pinpoint text fields, I prefer the Symbian + Ultimate E90 keyboard combo.
I've used it for 1 to 2 months now. The E90 isn't that fast. The notes application will lag once you have more than 200 characters in the field. In most windows mobile device, this lag would not exist.
