There are a couple of solutions:
I use Ribbit (www.ribbit.com/)
But there is also http://www.hullomail.com/ although i have not tried this...
With Ribbit - there is no app to change settings (yet!) - so you have to do this via the web...
HTH
SF
Ribbit wants me to pay so I used hullomail.com
its ok, since I had data package, but not idea since its shown in the email as they doing have windomws mobile app.

Finally got the real update, says it will update the myTouch to the final production ROM. Restarting and installing now!
Please post image right away.
Please post this so I could try the Email.apk with my Google Ion. I want to get the Exchange support.
hey just posted the Mail.apk to the dream forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536727
can you also pull the .apk file of the app sherpa / visual voicemail / facebook app if there are any
thanks :]
Mail didn't work on my Google Ion.
Update:
Mail.apk actually works. It creates an app called "Work Email". I thought Exchange is going through the regular "Email" app that's why I said it didn't work.
I second the facebook app!

Two most wanted apps: Sherpa & T-Mobile Visual voicemail
We also got word that it will have an voice sms app that allows voice texting. Can't wait for that.
From what I have been told, they wont be available until launch.

Its not just an app. Its a feature you have to have added to your TMO account. Sorry, but if you dont subcribe to TMO, you wont be able to use it. Also, FYI, I dont think COC10 is the final build, its still missing Sherpa and I dont think the exchange is complete as it only does email, no calendar.
EDIT: I may be mistaken on the voice sms app. It may be a voicemail feature being added that I was told needs to be added to your TMO acct. Sorry for any confusion.

Trust me, guys. T-mobile is promoting Voice Text so they are definitely not working on their own.
Anyone using 3G VOIP on the X10 with a high level of success?
Skype Beta, tried but doesn't work in this "region"
Fring = crap
Google Voice = not in Canada
I don't care if the service is free or pay-for but I would like some options.
Any info would be appreciated.
Try the new new Vonage app. Downside is that it only works between Facebook users with the app installed on their Android, Apple or Blackberry phones. Other than that it looks good and is totally free worldwide.

Tried it.. just can't get it to work. After I enter my facebook login and passwd, it says Can't connect to facebook, try again later and closes itself.
Guess I have to stick to crappy fring
Google voice works in Canada. U need an Alberta number to forward to. The only downside is having to use the web browser to make outgoing calls.

But you have to pay about 50$ for the sip settings (user/pass)
Free local calls and between some cities.
Unfortunately without sip settings, you can't use sipdroid.
3cx phone seems to work best for me since it supports g711. Sipdroid doesnt seem to have that codec. Havent found any that support g729 yet. 3cx also allows multiple sip accounts. Used it with voipcheap and gizmo5. Seems to work best for me.

Installed it last night but haven't tried it out yet.
I'll play with Vonage today and maybe look into a sip account.
Thanks to all.

Do you know any sip provider with prepaid for international which doesn't expire and preferably free local or north america calls?
You can also try Nimbuzz. They just released a new version the other day, that is supposed to reinstate Skype VoIP service. Haven't tried it myself yet, though.

Thanks.
I just created a Sipgate account (VPN on the home computer combined with a friend with a US cell phone got me an invitation code).
I've tried to set it up with Sipdroid and although it connects (green light on top) it fails to sustain a phone call. It makes the call and then drops it. I've tried with and without using the STUN server and have also tried various ports.
The Sipgate account is working. I called my Sipgate number and left myself a voicemail.
Is Rogers simply blocking my 3G VOIP trials?
Hey guys, what visual voicemail apps are you using? For some reason I can't find any in the market. I don't know if there's a problem because I've rooted my X10 but it's irritating.
Is anyone here able to download any visual voicemail apps? Do I need to apply any sort of market fix or patch? I am in Canada, BTW. Thank you!
What is a visual voice mail?
It's a voicemail app that allows you to instantly access and play your voicemail without dialing the voicemail number and waiting what seems to be forever.
I usually program my voicemail number to include my password but still.. that's the one thing I miss about my iPhone. I'd just click on my voicemail and immediately play it without waiting forever.
Get Google voice. it will do what you want. It will send you SMS or e-mail with transcribed message.

I want something that accesses the voicemail system and actually interacts with it. It's a front-end basically. I live in Canada too so Google Voice isn't an option. Thank you for trying to help though.

Well, in this case it should be something carrier specific i guess.
So, something provided by Rogers, Fido, Bell, etc.
I don't think 3rd party software has access to voicemails but i might be wrong.
How do you include the password or access code to the voicemail number?
I am with Rogers in Ontario, and when I got my x10 and new data plan.....my voice messages automatically come to me via sms. I am not sure how or why.....but they do

can't you create a contact which contains the "pause" (long press on # I think) and the passcode then create a shortcut on your home screen to it?

This is what I was talking about. Still though, it takes a good while before it actually goes through and the voicemail waiting indicator drives me insane!
I found a few apps in the market but can't access them. I'm at work. I'll post the names later and hopefully another user can test it out. It was so awesome on the iPhone!
did you ever figure this out? i miss it from my iphone too
Will Someone find a way to send messages on the Nexus S? I tried several sites but I did not understand much, and now I commend you to your esteemed forum for developers. For now I use an application (jaxtrsms) that sends text messages for free, but it is bad because it is always in memory and will not let me complete management.
My question is: when upgrading to google ICS will solve the problem?
There are already solutions to the failure to send text messages (frustrating!!)? If yes, someone can help me?
BIG THANKS
There are 3 ways I know of to message:
SMS through your carrier
SMS through Google Voice (free)
Gtalk or other web-based client (free)
However, you need data connectivity for all web-based methods above. So either wifi of 2/3G/4G through your carrier. Other than that I have no idea on what you're actually asking for.
