A webservice GVmax moniters your google voice account and sends the sms to your phone immediately. All you have to do is give them your google login creds.
Seems like a good way to save some battery life and do more gv texting. Just thought I'd share.

I'm new. But isn't it a bad idea to give a relatively new web site that much access to your life?
i get them asap anyways?

I'm talking about if you use the GV app on your android device. The most you can set the notifications to check is every 5 mins and that's a battery killer.
Uhmmm y not just forward them to your phone number from gv ? Instant
Edit: u can even reply to the sms gv sends u

Now we just need an app that lets you make and receive calls over wifi/data with our GV numbers
Best solution I've seen so far... This does it all... you just need a gtalk client and a callback phone(your carrier number, voip client w/service and pstn set up or your google talk on your computer). I'm using it with palringo and agephone over wifi only(my radio isn't even turned on) and it works great! =D
I can't get it to work, but lots of people have had success with Ultimate VOIP which can be found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908783 It uses the system's built in contact list and dialer.
I think this would be awesome paired with either Beejive IM or Palringo on your winmo phone.
Hey guys, what visual voicemail apps are you using? For some reason I can't find any in the market. I don't know if there's a problem because I've rooted my X10 but it's irritating.
Is anyone here able to download any visual voicemail apps? Do I need to apply any sort of market fix or patch? I am in Canada, BTW. Thank you!
What is a visual voice mail?
It's a voicemail app that allows you to instantly access and play your voicemail without dialing the voicemail number and waiting what seems to be forever.
I usually program my voicemail number to include my password but still.. that's the one thing I miss about my iPhone. I'd just click on my voicemail and immediately play it without waiting forever.
Get Google voice. it will do what you want. It will send you SMS or e-mail with transcribed message.

I want something that accesses the voicemail system and actually interacts with it. It's a front-end basically. I live in Canada too so Google Voice isn't an option. Thank you for trying to help though.

Well, in this case it should be something carrier specific i guess.
So, something provided by Rogers, Fido, Bell, etc.
I don't think 3rd party software has access to voicemails but i might be wrong.
How do you include the password or access code to the voicemail number?
I am with Rogers in Ontario, and when I got my x10 and new data plan.....my voice messages automatically come to me via sms. I am not sure how or why.....but they do
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
can't you create a contact which contains the "pause" (long press on # I think) and the passcode then create a shortcut on your home screen to it?

This is what I was talking about. Still though, it takes a good while before it actually goes through and the voicemail waiting indicator drives me insane!
I found a few apps in the market but can't access them. I'm at work. I'll post the names later and hopefully another user can test it out. It was so awesome on the iPhone!
did you ever figure this out? i miss it from my iphone too
Hey guys, hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I searched all threads with the words Google voice and searches some other forums but not having much luck.
So I just set up my Google voice yesterday, and my carrier is Iwireless, a T-Mobile affiliate. I was able to switch my voicemail to Google, called the number set up my password and greeting. I had someone leave a message which I did receive on my new Google voicemail whrn i called but it never showed up in my inboxs visual voicemail with a transcript or anything at all.
I tried to call my carrier but as you can imagine they couldn't offer much help for an app. They did tell me they do not offer visual voicemail but I don't think that should matter since it's Google offering the visual voicemail, correct?
I've been itching for visual voicemail ever since experiencing it on my old iPhone and would love to get this working but am finding it hard to get the answers or support I need. I find the Google voice site lacking as it only offers a download link and automated troubleshooter asking common questions.
Any help or pointers are much appreciated and lastly in case you need to know I am using the nexus one.
Thanks.
Does it show up on voice.google.com when you log in on a computer?

That is your google voice #.
Do you see the voicemail you received in the GV web app? (not the native app on your phone)
Hit menu on your google voice app, go to labels and you can pick what you want to see. voicemail, sms, etc...

Nope. But when I call my Google voice number I can year the msg.
And as for the next poster I've went to labels in the app, tried to display all, or just voicemails its not showing up anywhere
Actually I'm sorry guys but when I call my voicemail the message isn't showing up either but I just had a friend leave a msg and notifcatiin bar says I have a msg and to call my voicemail
Just wanted to say the issue has been solved. I now see why they say this is 1 of the best android apps.
Mods can delete this thread thanks.
Does it exist?
example: use a voice recorder to record a message, then dial a number and be able to play that prerecorded message to a voicemail/answer machine. I tend to stumble alot on my words when i leave live voicemails...very unprofessional ...would be nice if i can record a perfect voicemail and then send it.
Any info would be appreciated thanks!
Or, send voicemails directly without waiting for other party to not answer...

Im not sure about sending voicemails but a smooth way to get to someones voicemail without them answering is
"slydial".
Im not going to post the link im not sure about the forum rules on that but just google it.
the sprint voicemail app can send pre-recorded voicemail messages.
I'm on g1917 stock rooted, and I'd love to jave visual voicemail.
Thanks

Hello Hallo
I read that post and at the very end someone mentioned how to enable it in the stock dialer's settings. I had it enabled.
Perhaps, I'm confusing what I mean by visual voicemail; I recall that ATT had an app that let you screen the voicemails within the app, and it even had a transcription of the text, and that's what I'm looking for.
Not sure if it is available on a rooted phone. I use google voice for my voicemail and it allows me to check through multiple vm and I get transcription.
