Navigation software on HTC HD2 Help!!!! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Can someone please please help me how to install any GPS navigation system on my new phone HD2? I really need a voice guidance GPS on this phone. Sorry if this is a repeat request but I'm new to this.
Thanks in advance.

I recommend tomtom navigator 7, search google for ttn7.915.9196
then purchase some legitimate tomtom 7 maps, it works FANTASTICALLY on my HD2

I'm using Mapking and Igo8 but I'm from Asia, so I can't use Tom Tom or some others wehre there aren't maps available.
Igo8 is great and smooth but the maps and search feature isn't as good as Mapking so i switch between the 2 but as much as possible i use Igo8

iGO8 works well too.... although some have issues if they use TTS voices, but the pp it great for navigation.

Hey buddy,
I've just downloaded setup for IGO8 fr my HD2..Didnt put it on my SD Card neither did i install anything because I am looking for Maps for India that I can put in the Maps folder. Can you help me with the link or maybe upload the maps file for India. It'l be a great help. I downloaded the IGO8 cracked version setup from forum.ipmart.com
Waiting for your reply...Thanks in advance

I really like the CoPilot Live8 came with the HD2, but now its expired. Does anyone know how I can get this for free? Any crack version out there? please help. and many thanks in advance.

Navigon
The Navigon Software is IMHO the best Navi for the HD2.
I testet tomtom, Destinator, iGo an CoPilot.
Short the navigon Software is the most exact off them all.
And the Realityview, Poi, Warnings and alle extra Features are great.
An a Price @ 80€ with 2 Jears of free Upgrades is unbeaten.

does anyone know how to install iGo 2008 into the HD2? I installed it but when open its keep saying "Fail to open file: ui_igo08\240_400\loading.bmp exiting application"
does anyone know how to install this thing? please help. THanks.

Take a look on this site

Here I got TomTom and iGo, both works fine

Depending on your location, it can be as low as $30 which is a steal compared to the rest of GPS apps out there (€60+). It's not even worth the effort to pirate it!
http://www.copilotlive.com/htc

IGO8 works a treat for me install both files should automatically start to install
Mod edit:
Do not post warez on this forum.

if you want iGO the easy way, search for PDA version, it also contains a 2577 folder with the installer (autorun.exe), it should autorun, but you can also start it manually from the SDCard.
The next thread gives some info on getting iGO full WVGA resolution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=586150.
I for example for high resolution have the following iGO8\sys.txt (on device and StorageCard):
Code:
[project]
name="igo8_pda"
[device]
type="ALIAS_TOUCH HD"
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
and the following in my iGO8\save\system.ini (on StorageCard):
Code:
[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
autoconfig="1"
driver="gdi"
highres="0"

I have TT 916 working on my nicely. But, they dont offer some maps for certain parts of the world. So, I also installed GarminXT and have ten maps working with it also. gpsunderground is a very good site to learn more.

I am trying to work out how to install the TomTom Navigator 5 Series maps onto the Polaris. It does not seem to be going very well. I was using these maps with the jamin and tomtom5. Do I really need to buy new maps? I hope not as these work and are perfectly good. Please could someone enlighten me please?

I guess the problem is that you have tomtom 6 on tc and want to use tomtom 5 maps. You could try installing them using tomtom home. Or you could try uninstalling tomtom 6 from the tc and installing tomtom5. if u have bought the software and maps, you could email tomtom customer services and explain the problem (i.e. that u cannot transfer the maps on ur new device), maybe they could be of help.
hope this is helpful
TT5 works fine on my Touch Cruise. You first have to remove TT6 from the device. Then, copy the 4 CABs to a temporary dir on your SD-card and run them. Install the cards you need on a temporary dir on your PC and copy them to the SD-card.
I copied the card dirs from another device. All settings and speed cams where copied to my TC.
I hope this brief explanation will help you.

Thanks Joop and Jackster....
I have had a reply from tomtom........(info for anyone else)
"Dear Mr Richardson,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support with regards to your PDA.
Navigator 5 maps are unfortunately not compatible with the software of Navigator 6.
You will have to use the maps provided with navigator or buy new maps.
Please check the compatibility of your device , you could do tis by going to our website under PDA/Mobile"
Its a ****** scam! At least Microsoft aren't that bad! "Here buy Nav 5, (XP) whoops you have upgraded to Nav 6 (Vista) none of your programs work, sorry you have to buy them again!!!!!!
Brilliant Thanks Tomtom for the support and great service! What other people sell navigational software? (Rhetorical Question, PLease do not reply!)

Best car navigation solution for Raphael?

Hi there,
I am looking for a good car navigation solution for Raphael (for travelling in Europe). After reading infos about TT which seems to work at least with the latest releases and Navigon (for which I am not that sure ...), I now read about Tele Atlas McGuider which also seems to be quite good and even less expensive, but it seems to lack TMC or other traffic assistance support which is crucial for me (radio broadcasted or via internet, I do not mind, but it is a must).
I know that there are some other solutions out there. I wonder if you guys have experiences to share, also w/regard to VGA screen resolution and so on.
Thanks!
Eriol
I like the CoPilot Live, works very well and has a nice look and feel.
Co Pilot live is ok, but the traffic part of it is rubbish compared with tomtom. There is no visual display of traffic incidents ahead on the map, only a description that pops up with incident details which you either avoid or ignore. You can set it to automatically reroute, but you dont know whats going on. In my opinion, tomtom is currently the best.
I also found co-pilot slow to scroll around the map, but there again i dont have a fast mem card. Unfortunately there si no trial version available. make sure you get the version specific for the HTC diamond (also compatible with Touch Pro). It can be purchased online (from handango) cheaper than most retail stores.
Thx to both of you! I still would like to compare TomTom with McGuider ...
Eriol
McGuider
Hello,
I am using last version McGuider (7.x I think) and it work fine, but map and icons are too small, I and don't know if it can be repair.
Please if some one use thist program please write down here about how work.
Bye
Garmin XT is the best imo. TT cannot hold a candle to Garmin.
iGO 8
I think iGO 8 is the best solution for Raphael

Hi Jochen,
I have a stand alone PNA running Navigon 6.5, and I like it, too. But my experience with Navigon, especially running on my HTC Wizard (MN 6.x), is that the route calculation is rather slow and the whole app is not that fast on a PDA. This might be different on a Raphael due to processor speed, though. We also will use an Xperia X1 here: Is it possible to run MN7 on 800x480 screens?
Eriol
i maybe wrong, but some navigation programs will only run when the supplied memory card is installed. Installing the maps to another card will not work which therefore means you have to swap cards when using the software. Check before you buy!!!

Navigon is nice-- but once you're in the tunnel and lose signal it would say you've reach your destination I also don't like its route calculation-- it's giving me a longer route than tomtom
To my mind ist the default navigation (TomTom 7.451) the best. it uses vga, is fast, new maps

In Copilot7 there is indeed visual display of incidents ahead on the map, you also can get to incident-specific info in just three taps, reporting delay and other usefull info........
No need for automatic rerouting, you can let Copilot ask you what you want to do, after you have read the incident-info and delay time.....
No need for the diamond-version either, regular version runs great on my Touchpro....
See.......................you we're allmost right.....
Someone tried Navigon Mobile Navigator 7 for PDA on Raphael?
Is it compatible and full working?
Before then I buy, I asked to the support team, but no clear response about it.
Thanks.
NAVIGON Mobile Navigator 7 can work fine on Raphael, with this simple workaround.
You need a GPS port replicator (like Franson GPSgate) to solve the GPS signal stability problem on MN7.
I hope this can help who love this product family.

TT Navigator 7 and HD 2

Hi All,
I see that many of you have TT7 working on HD2. Can I ask if anyone has official maps working?
I have TT 7.915 and V8.4 map ( purchased ( with real money! ) through TT ). This was on my Diamond. I want to transfer this onto my shiny HD2 but so far TT Home does not recognise HD2 as this is not officially supported. ASs this is the case I cannot transfer the account to the HD2.
I don't want to go down the route of 'unofficial sites' and I definately don't want to be stuck with CoPilot!!
Cheers in Advance
same problem here...tthome dont see hd2 and cant update maps
same for me too, does anyone have any tips?
Heeelppp !!!
I've just bought HD2 ...630 euros in Italy and my TT7 7.9 maps don't go... Say me Not enough memory !... In my Msd 16 gb !..
I have 1.48 ROM Ita.... Anyone can help me ?
Thanks in advance....
I just received my HD2, it's the orange french rom and tomtom7 is working ok.
Here is what I installed :
Tomtom 7.915.9196 + Carte Western & Central Europe 8.35.2421
I have an official version of TomTom but when I attempt to install it I get the following error message:
"Your device is not compatible with this version of Tom Tom Navigator!"
Hello,
I have A touch HD2 and I have the message "Your device is not compatible with this version of Tom Tom Navigator!" when I install the 7.916.9189 vga version but the 7.915.9196 works great.
I hope it can help you.
My problem is that I have a legal copy of Tom Tom map of WE but as TT is not yet supported on HD2 I have no way of linking the Map to my device.
All works fine on my Diamond but now I will format and sell the Diamond but want to link the TomTom account to the new phone...
But TomTom do not recognise the phone.....
for those who dont want to use copilot:
--> my device: HD2 bough without any branding, simlock etc, in Austria, ROM 1.43.407.2 (70124) GER
i got "Sygic mobile maps 9" running which is suitable for WindowsMobile, Android AND Symbian - at the same time, just different installers as it seems (only tested it on WM)
its VERY fast finding sattelites & finding the way (Vienna to Hannover which is about 1000km took about 20 seconds), there are maps for i think all over the world and the complete europe maps is 80€ (i'm sure you can find it as an illegal working download....)
this is the way i avoided copilot & tomtom...
hope you find a working solution =)
Tomtom v7.915 build 9196 Black Edition is an Unofficial version, but works on the HTC Leo (It show how speed is the community, unlike tomtom ...) It fix the BT bug.
It's for the moment the only way to have a working tomtom. But, as ever, maps will work only if you have the good DCT : a map will work for only ONE device. The use on an other device is forbidden.
Be careful : maps 840.2562 won't work on WinCE devices
Thanks, it works, no more BT annoyance !

I use TomTom because I own a TomTom PNA. So I get along with the mobile TomTom navigation best (did try several Navigation Software) - even I find the menu structure a bit pitty. iGo 8 has the best menu structure for me but I hate the "In 24,514884m and 51174 picometer please turn right!

huh? does it really says that ? i have never a bug or a mistake on my igo8
Imo Navigon MN7 is the best choice for Europe. It's quite cheap, works awesome in every point and it's fast (tried a route from Barcelona to Helsinki which is almost 2600 km air line, needed 3 seconds to calculate it; when you see a traffic jam in front of you, you just click "avoid this part of the route" and it gives you the bypass immediately), and there are map updates 4 times per year - NEVER had ANY problem with it. iGo 8 is similar - it's also brilliant but it's much more expensive - costs about MN7 twice.
Copilot 8 , 100 % compatible with HD2 .
Plus +1 CoPilot 8. I was VERY skeptical, but its works admirably - even though its redundant since my GS has onboard Nav anyway..
iGo8
Works perfect as is!
Tried others and simply they do not cut it for me. Keep it simple and it works.
Awsome!
iGo for me as well; I love the way it shows you the signpostings and the whole interface. And the fact it filters when you're typing a road name.
iGO8 forever
this is the best sw navigation for me
i use version with themechanger,gfx,tmc and other in my HD2

How can i purchase Igo8? Do you have to order a cd or can you download it? Thanks.

[Q] looking for a good navigation software

Hi group,
my good old navi device died today and i would like a software solution for my good old Leo.
I had a Route 66, which crashed every two minutes. Anyhow it showed extremely bad maps with almost no useful information.
I am looking for something working well on the LEO.
I don't care for 3D views, what i need is good 2D with as many roads names as possible.
Who could give me an info about a good navi software?
RIN67630
navigon is working very fast, tomtom also.
Garmin a little bit slower and igo harder to configure.
For me, the best is Tomtom Navigator 7
NDrive, IGO and Sygic
For Me:
1- NDrive --> Best for everything
2- IGO --> Quick.
3- Sygic --> Clear, Fast and not complicated
TomTom 7.918 , works well for me on HD2, easy to have & switch many maps, one of the few to have selection of european & asian maps I need.

I've got to see iGO8
The current street numbers left and right are super!
Found it nice, but it could display better the street names, which do not bend around the curves and frequently do not display at all, for no apparent reason.
Which one is better? I do need very good 2d maps.
Thanks

here you go
I suggest "Mapfactor Navigator FREE" from here: http://navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/de/
It is absolutely free - both software and maps (worldwide!!), because the maps are OpenStreetMap-data (OSM) as actual as the maps will generated by OSM.
It works even fast as TomTom and has a 3D-View ...
For me, the best navigation software is iGO Primo 2.0.
And with the skin Sbertaud13, it is perfect
For me the best navigation app is Ndrive.
Works like a charm with HD2.
hi,i know everything about igo 8 if you need something.... i think that igo is the best
You could put Google Maps on your HD2 which is free for navigation.
Maps get downloaded as you go so are always up to date.
iran maps don't has for Tom Tom or igo
hi guys
Tom Tom and igo very good software navigation but all world map don't has for example Iran map i can't find for igo and Tom Tom .
and this is very bad
i normally uses google map and sygic from time to time, but sygic always expires and want user to buy it, so i just stick with google maps.
