how to change radio rom when android is on NAND? - Touch Cruise Android Development

Hello everybody,
i've installed android eclair on nand (thanks to polyrythmic build), and since i've some problems i want to try different radio roms.
I know how to flash the radio rom, but the problem is that i can't access the 4colors mode to enter in flash mode. I maintain the camera button pressed while doind reset, and hold it till i see the 3 color screen. But instead of this, android boots.
i've trys several things, like removing the battery and try after a moment, but nothing works. Have i missed something?
thanks for your help

you do have to remove the battery then let the camera button pressed when starting the phone... try again maybe by letting the battery out more long ? (for me a few seconds are enough)

worked like a charm!
thanks for the advice

Can't get into bootloader

I am unable to get into boot loader mode.
I've pressed camera + power and reset as usual but it won't go into bootloader it just boots the phone up.
I managed to get into bootloader mode using a KaiserCustomRRU and then it picked up the new ROM from the SDCard but when i press power to flash the rom nothing happens.
I can still boot into windows mobile and the power button works when I press it there.
I only got this kaiser a day ago is it possible this is a new version or something?
Please help!

Are you fully pressing the Camera button, it has two levels, it must be presses in fully and help whilst you restart your phone with the stylus (or turn on if the phone is off).
Off Topic:
This makes a nice change, helping someone into bootloader, rather than someone stuck in it.
Dave
Yup I'm pressing it down super hard, I've had the kaiser since it came out so I know I'm doing it as usual. For some reason it isn't working this time.
I had lots of trouble flashing HardSPL aswell! Now this problem with entering boot loader. This is getting irritating .

Does the Camera button work normally? I.e. Launches the camera in Windows.
What problems are you having with HardSPL?
Dave
Yup camera button does work normally.
I had to reset the device loads of times before customRUU noticed that the phone was plugged in.
At the moment I'm stuck in RUUNBH recovery mode in HardSPL. It detects that I have put a memory card with a KAISIMG.nbh into the phone, it says that it will flash radio, rom, splash and says press power to continue but when I press power nothing happens. Now no matter what I do I can't get out of HardSpl and I can't even flash a rom anymore

Thanks so much
Ok so its booting up again but I'm still having the same problem, ie it won't get me into bootloader using camera and power button.
I can't even press the 2 buttons to clear storage either, it just boots straight into the rom.

Why do you need to access the Bootloader? To flash from SD Card?

Yup also I'm having weird problems which I think are associated with this particular problem.
When I boot up the rom lots of keys just randomly get pressed. e.g. if I have a pin set loads of characters will be put into the input box and the only way i can stop it is by pressing a hardware button.
I'm trying to flash a dutty rom which I know doesn't really have those kinda problems to see if its just the rom, although other people aren't reporting the same problem with the rom though :/

Flash back to your Original ROM, Radio and SPL. If the problems are still occuring, take it back to the shop, IMO.

Do you think there is a new version of the kaiser that messes up when you flash hardspl?

I doubt they gave you that newer Model what doesn't work.
I think it is the SPL that figures out wether or noot to boot the OS or run the Bootloader... when loading the OS the SPL checks for what keys are pressed and goes into the SPL or OS.
If Hard SPL and the OEM SPL fail to load the bootloader, there must be something wrong with the device IMO.

I have the same problem with key press, it happened after a recent flash to a new rom.
I have found out what keys it is in my case. It is the "button 6" (voice recorder) and "edfc".The last are just endlessly pressed. Anybody knows how to fix this? My temporary fix was to remap button 6 to "rotate screen" but it is really anoying. I would like to just disable button 6, until I can return it, if there is no fix.
The problem has persisted over 3 roms now (PV rom (8 oct by medkid) - where it all started, Garmin 4.3 and now hyperdragon III 6 oct)
any help will be greatly welcomed!

Depending on what happened, it's a yes/no situation. What did you do?
Try this:
get into bootloader mode (tri-color screen): Take out the battery for one minute. Put it back in. Getting into bootloader mode is done by holding the Volume down button while you do a press/release of the Reset button. OR hold the Volume down button while you do a press/release of the Power button.
That should get you to bootloader mode. Now, plug in your USB to the PC. Flash a CDMA ROM from there by running the .exe. If you cannot do that, transfer the .nbh file (rename it to "RHODIMG.nbh" [no quotes]) and follow these instructions.
Good luck, and happy new year!
*The majority of the CDMA ROMs can be found at PPCGeeks*

Well, this forum is for CDMA TP2s, but I'll help.
So you took out the battery for at least one minute? Then you put it back in. Get into bootloader mode (T-Mobile version: phone is off, hold the Volume Down button while you press/release the Power Button. Keep holding the Volume Down button until the colorful screen shows up).
When you're in bootloader, plug in your TP2 to your PC. Now run the .exe of a GSM ROM and follow the steps, as if your phone is synced to the PC. (aka flash as you would usually do).
To flash via the Storage Card: On your PC, go to Start > My Computer > Removable Disk drive (something like that; make sure this is your phone's Storage Card). Drag the .nbh of a GSM ROM there. Rename the .nbh "RHODIMG.nbh" (no quotes). Unplug your Phone. Take out the battery again for one minute. Now, go back into bootloader (hold Volume Down button and press/release Power button [keep holding the Volume Down button]). Follow the steps to flash the phone.
Good luck.

You did exactly the reverse of what I did, and the instructions already given are how I resolved it: put it in bootloader and flash a compatible ROM. I flashed a stock ROM just to be sure, but that's probably not needed.

See if you can do a hard-reset right now. While phone is off (which it is), press and hold Talk/Send, End, and Power button at the same time. Wait for a screen to pop-up. Follow steps to hard reset. That will bring it back to factory defaults.
If it doesn't work, maybe you could post your question on PPCGeeks, where a lot of CDMA people go. They might be able to help you.
Can you Unbrick a Touch Pro 2
Hi to all,
I'm a new here and a little desperate . I flashed my rom by using a raphael update instead of Rhodium. My phone got bricked. My phone is a Sprint HTC touch pro 2.
At the moment, it will not boot, when I plug it to my computer and it was looking for qualcomm cdma MSM drivers.
I tried sof and hardware reset including the boot loader. Nothing works. I also tried using different RUUs. Nothing works. I hope somebody can help me.
Fixed the problem...bought an android...ha,ha...

Well if you can power it on, and go to bootloader, then your phone is just fine. Just flash a Rhodium ROM.
I suggest take battery out, and put it back in after few seconds, to see if it powers on. If not, leave it in the charger, and see if it powers on.
After installing the HardSPL, I decided to flash my US Cellular CDMA phone with a GSM rom and of course it bricked it. The phone would only boot to bootloader, so I was going to have it repaired for $70. But if I was willing to flash my device, then I'm sure as willing to look for a DIY solution somewhere. Goodthing I searched this forum, because the answers where right here!
Just format your microSD to FAT32, install an extracted stock ROM kit to the root of the SD insuring you rename the .nbh to RHODMIG.nbh and place the other extracted files on the SD as well. Place the microSD in your HTC Touch Pro2 and boot to bootloader. You may have to take steps to get to the bootloader, mine booted to bootloader automatically anyway at that point. Follow onscreen instructions, and your Touch will be as good as new!
thanks a million for helping me unbrick my tp2
wow man thanks a million, i followed the instru and it worked but was slow so i did task 29 and flashed the rom i wanted and it works great, i really appreciate your help on this
How did you get to the bootloader menu. I am using CDMA HTC Pro 2 by Sprint. Thanks

keeps rebooting?
Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the problem I'm facing:
I have the latest Energy rom, with Android 2.3 on SD card. Android proved to be quite unstable and requires soft resets every now and then. Most of the time I would let it boot into WinMo and then run Haret again to get into Android.
Yesterday I left in running in Android all day, and in the evening I noticed the phone had died. Thinking it was just out of battery, I just plugged it in, let it charge for a few hours, then tried to boot it up. But it just kept rebooting, never getting pass the Touch Pro 2 boot screen.
Did hard resets twice, same thing. Re-flash the rom, same thing. Took out SD card, flashed again, same thing. Everything I tried, it would not get pass the initial boot screen, and just cycles the reboot again. Oh by the way, the hard resets and re-flashes are all successful with no errors.
Anyone have a solution to this? Thanks!

Try flashing another ROM or try putting in another battery and see if the bootloop issue goes away. Kindly update the status of your post if you fixed the issue or are still having problems.

Unable to enter bootloader

Hi there !
I have a big problem: touchscreen on my polaris has stopped working without an apparent reason so I decided to format it in order to solve the problem. I'm using the latest superfroyo but I decided to rollback to the RLS6 because it seemed to be more stable than the RLS12 (in my case). But here's the real issue: I can't enter bootloader mode (soft reset and camera button)...I don't really understand what's going on, I've tried everything, edited every single .nbh I could have downloaded but it doesn't work...dead...What can I do? any idea? Please I need advices....otherwise I have to consider a Wildfire or a Legend (what a sacrifice, huh ? )
Tnx a lot guys !!!
bootloader is many times discussed.
Press camera button and 2x times reset.
Or remove battery (few second will be enough), then turn on the phone, and standart method will also work (camera buttno + reset)
No way...it didn't work...I've flashed another .nbh file, I put it in the sd root and I was able to enter Bootloader mode, but when asked for pressing power button the phone frozen up...and now i can't enter BL anymore as before...any idea?...I'm going slightly mad...

Thnkz for the response, I have downloaded that particular rom once and is the standard version.
Though I haven't flashed the standard version in quite a while, I can't imagine that it doesn't work. I usually, flash CHT (Co0kie Home Theme). I do suppose I could flash it just for kicks and giggles... Let me know if you can re-download or would like me flash and tell you if it works for me.

I re download it, try to flash it and it says succesfull, but at the end Im stuck in the same spot at&t white logo at start.
Just to be sure, now that I cant do activesync, the only way for flashing is sd, or by usb holding the down key button right?
If so, that's what I'm doing, pressing the down buttom putting the usb, and starting the rominstaller at pc. Always says succesfull, but at the end it wont boot, it hangs on att logo; I dont get it, whats wrong now.
Thnkz in advance
Yes, press and hold the volume down key while you connect the USB lead to your device and computer. I usually have the USB cable already connected and just hold the volume down key while connecting to my device. Going to try to flash the standard ROM to see if the ROM is actually the issue. If it works, then I don't know what else to tell you but if it doesn't, you might want to try another ROM?
You are positive you are flashing a GSM version of the TP and not CDMA, right?

[Q] Help! My phone is in a bootloop. Unable to stay in download/ recovery mode...

I'm really stupid.
I started when I flashed Cyanogenmod from 10.1 to 10.2 and started getting random resets. After getting impatient, I stupidly tried to downgrade back to 10.1 without a factory reset which caused the bootlooping. Then I tried going going into recovery mode and tried to restore with cwm recovery but my phone just randomly shutdown.
tl;dr Now I can't enter into recovery mode at all (I can see the blue words then it shuts off), can enter download mode for maybe 4-6 sec before it shuts off, and my phone still bootloops if I try to properly turn it on.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks for trying to help, but it didn't work. Tried it many times, but I did get to the "Samsung Galaxy S III" logo after recovery mode.
Also to clarify, I wasn't a nightly it was a stable version of Cyanogen. It's just that your not suppose to directly downgrade a Cyanogenmod without a factory reset or it could cause problems, which I found out later.
Edit: It's getting late so I'm going to check back in the morning. Thanks.

You said you could enter download mode and stay there? If so i highly suggest you go and ODIN your phone back to stock re-root, install recovery then go ahead and install CyanogenMod. This most likely ill fix your problems, but only do it if your phone can go into download mode and stay there!

If you remove the battery and put it back in does it auto turn on?
I am curious to see what others here think, but in my limited experience with embedded devices, this is almost sounding like a hardware problem.
The phone was randomly rebooting before -- I don't think it was established earlier that recovery and download modes were solidly working when the conditions started. From your description, the symptoms appear sometime after the CM 10.2 upgrade, but that does not mean the upgrade or downgrade caused this issue.
It sounds odd to me that the phone would go into download mode, and then just sporadically reset. Perhaps others here can comment if this behavior in download mode has been observed with other botched software flashing.
I am just curious, and just verified on my S3. Try the following:
- boot into download mode, but leave the warning screen active. See how long that lasts or if you get reset quickly
- Plug the phone into a power source, boot into download mode, confirm, immediately remove the battery, and let the phone sit to see if it resets.
What I am looking to see is if a steady power supply here helps keeping download mode active; maybe your battery is shot and causing erratic behavior. Also, try to make a careful inspection of the phone, especially if all the screws are tight, the battery compartment doesn't have anything loose or funny looking, power button seems to be snappy and crisp (not mushy or sticking), etc.
Good luck.

Kind of. It shows the Samsung logo when I put it it in. It only goes into a bootloop if I hold the power button for a few seconds.

Thanks. I've tried what you asked with and without the battery, and the warning screen stays on for about 3-7 secs for both circumstances. I also tried replacing my battery with another one lying in my house. The battery compartment and the power button is seemingly normal.
Doesn't help ... but this other thread sounds a little bit similar to your download mode issue ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608201
Sounds like you have a very small window of opportunity before the download mode reboots. Maybe try this just to see:
- make sure your windows (assuming) drivers are all set up. Hopefully if you had ODIN working already, then you are set
- get a copy of heimdall command line version
- get the command ready to execute: heimdall print-pit --no-reboot
- In the small window of opportunity you have ... enter download mode, confirm, press enter on heimdall command and see if anything interesting happens
See if you get anything. If you do you might try to quickly use up-arrow on the CMD line to recall that command and run it again. If you know anything about windows batch scripting, you might try scripting the heimdall command above in a loop.
My thought here is that if heimdall cannot initiate anything useful, then your software is probably lost. If heimdall can output the PIT data, could be that download mode software is good, but the hardware is bad. If rapidly executing heimdall keeps your device active longer than usual, that might be an interesting tid-bit to know.
I am no expert here, so please seek other's more expert advice before trying anything. If your boot mode is screwed, perhaps the thread on [GUIDE] Debrick your bricked s3! [BOOTLOADER/HARDBRICK] might work, but again unless someone else confirms this, I would not try that until you are about ready to accept total loss.
