Did anybody try pMessenger? - Nexus One Themes and Apps

pMessenger is a phone to phone messenger just like bbm and it doesnt multi-chat just like bbm, so it a way to save on text messages especially if your roaming. It doesnt ask for any info from the user just open the app and receive your pin number. Currently it is out for the iPhone and Android phones, soon to be released on Blackberries. The iPhone has a more updated version only because the dev needs the latest sdk to allow the app to run smooth on 2.1.
Do you think youll try it out? why or why not?

[WANTED] Growl push notifications on android

I'm wanting something like Prowl for android, so my growl notifications get pushed to my phone.
I was thinking something along the lines of:
Growl gets a notification > send SMS through email to the phone > APP intercepts SMS and pops up the Growl notification as an android notification in the pulldown
Possible?
Tasker (tasker.dinglisch(dot)net/index.html sorry can't post links yet) has the ability to intercept text message I believe. And I know you create many types of custom notifications based on the input. You could make a notification bar message and play a custom sound. Or even trigger application loads, and well, too many other things to list.
You'll have to play around with it a bit first to get the hang of it.
For the PC side you will have to find or write a program that will forward the growl notifications by text to your phone though.

Tried it, that requires the phone to be constantly active and to be on the same wifi network.

Best i've found is to just set growl send an sms to my phone through my email.
This is something that I will hopefully starting work on shortly, However I will most likely utilise C2DM on android 2.2 (Froyo) though I may add a fall back to use SMS's with the app intercepting them.
Bump!
I'm switching all my notification stuff to Growl for Windows and it's awesome. I was looking for a way to forward them to my Android phone and found this topic. With Froyo now supporting push, I think this is easier to make without the hassle of WiFi, Bluetooth and other non-solutions. Unfortunately, I don't know Java so I can't code this myself, but maybe some other dev is interested in this? I'd gladly donate.
Edit: Hehe, only read the first sentence of the post above me..
When tasker intercepts an SMS, can it delete the sms? That way you get a notification in the status bar without having to delete a text msg.
There is: http://nma.usk.bz . It's just like Prowl, but for the Android.
Right now there is pretty much just the Android client and the public API to send notifications.

Hi uskr,
So does that work in the same way? You just fill out the details in Growl for Windows and it'll push through notifications to the phone?
If so that's exactly what I want Coming from an iPhone with Prowl to a Galaxy S2, and the Prowl notifications would be sorely missed.
Yes. We actually support both Growl for Windows and for MacOS. It's just like Prowl, but for the Android platform.
Enjoy!
Lovely, thanks Now the long wait for the SGS2 to get here
Check out Notifo, its currently in beta and not in the market. Google it "notifo for android"
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Notifo was great but it's now been abandoned

Anyone else other than the pay-for "NotifyMyAndroid" that we can use?

Android Voice SMS

My friend showed me his android phone today n I was impressed with the phone because it able to tells the user the name of the person that send him a new text message.
is there such an app for WM?
Can't Microsoft Voice Command do this...?
well, as far I know MS VC only let u tell your phone what to do. I mean the one Android has let the phone talk n tell the user who calling them or who just send them new text message.
Moved as not software release.

Android 2.2 Cloud to Device Messaging

Hi, i am no dev, sorry if this is the wrong section, but i realized that inside of Android 2.2 sdk or something there is the new C2DM Service. Even Google says that it could work very well for instant messages like this:
C2DM makes no guarantees about delivery or the order of messages. So, for example, while you might use this feature to tell an instant messaging application that the user has new messages, you probably would not use it to pass the actual messages.
http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/android/c2dm/index.html
i searched for an app, which uses C2DM for instant messaging for serveral IM networks like icq, msn etc, but didnt found anything... all the messengers like ebuddy, meebo etc don't use this new push notification which should save a lot of battery, if the device gets pushed about new messages and only than the devices download the message from the server
what do you think about it?
PS: sorry for my crap english
Hopefully this new service will solve all the issues we have with the current crop of instant messengers and their frequent disconnection. This is one feature I miss from my old iPhone
i guess most developers of messaging apps are already working hard to incorporate c2dm into their clients. since froyo is still verry young and there is only one device yet that is officially running it, the use for this would have been verry smale yet. but im sure in a few weeks we will have lots of messaging apps using this feature.
Thread moved to General.

new Google Talk in FroYo already uses C2DM, other messengers are likely to follow in several months as more phones get FroYo
How is life going? Froyo is about 6 months old, 36 % running Froyo, and the only C2DM-using apps I know are Whatsapp, Jumpnote and Chrome To Phone. I know Google is holding several C2DM presentations.
I'm still missing a IM-app, soccer scores app and so on. Are there any developers working on this? Or is it hard to obtain acces for Google C2DM?
Triilian im and beejive im are using c2dm
hi to all,
when you want to use googles cloud to device messaging ,you must still connected wifi or wakes wifi up when you recieve an message like Googlemail or Trillian Messenger?
thx
p.s.:sry for my bad english

[Q] Transfer SMS from BlackBerry to Android (MT4G)

Hey folks! Came across this as I have nothing else to do. ; ) But I would like to be able to transfer my SMS's from my BlackBerry to my MT4G and vice versa. I came across SpriteMigrate, but it doesn't look like they supported or support BlackBerry any longer, even though the Google search tells me they do. I use both phones, I switch off every now and then, so I would like to update the phone's with the text messages as I switch. Of course, if text messaging were like Google Talk where everything passes the Google servers and gets stored then I'd be okay, but not every conversation happens to be on Google Talk obviously. If there is an alternative of some sort please let me know!
Just get a program called VeryAndroid SMS Backup to help. It can transfer SMS from iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia or Windows Mobile to Android. Google it for downloading.

[Q] Google Voice Full Integration

Can someone try this app out?
Google Voice Full Integration (sorry I can't post the link to market since I don't have enough post)
it needs root.
basically, it let you the native messaging app, or GoSMS for google voice. When you send a text message from the native app, it will ask whether you want to send via GV or native app. If you set GV to be default, you can forget about the official GV app and just use native app or GoSMS.
I have been looking for an app like this for a while.
But unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work with this phone.
I have been talking with the developer through email but still no luck.
When another phone sends a message to my GV number, I receive it using the native app. But when I send a message from the native app, the other phone gets it with my phone number (it should be GV number).
So it looks like it's only 1 way for me.
So Can someone test it out? The developer will refund you if it doesn't work. just email him. He gives very great support.
btw, I'm still using the Froyo stock app. But it may be the phone since it was tested to work with Froyo.
Thank you for reading
I'm using this on an HTC HD2, so I can't say anything about your phone. For mine, however, it works both ways and I have texting blocked through my carrier so there's no way a regular text can get through. I don't get any notifications though.
