Vexing MyTouch Tapping Problem - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Newbie here and I apologize in advance if I overlooked a past thread on this problem as follows:
Anyone else experiencing the frustration of having to constantly tap the screen to unlock every few seconds once you hit a prompt after keying a main number. This happens whether you receive or generate calls and it is a nightmare using the provided dialer which is embedded in the software.
I understand the idea behind this to not inadvertently tag a button with your cheek, grasping finger, etc.. but why is there no time interval or delay setting as you may have with keeping your screen lit? No solutions from T-Mobile thus hoping this forum will have some remedies or compatible equally functioning alternative dialer.

"Screen Tap" vib instead of clicks? I have an idea.

I've been trying to figure out how this could be done for a few months now. My original idea was a .Net managed app wrapped up in a C++ service which would hook the proper WMessage and cause a short vibrate (reg entry to customize strength, duration, frequency, and wave shape perhaps). After looking into the Vibrating Dialpad registry hack and playing with Sound Schemes (see crediting links below), I'm thinking there may be a far more straight forward way using a simliar approach to Vibrating Dialpad. On the other hand, I'm not sure where *vibrate* gets interpreted so it may not be so simple. Anyone have feedback on this? I think even a basic "haptic" screen feedback would be very welcomed by many people and a cross-device solution seems feasable.

Yah, something like that I've been asking around for months and this is the first time I've heard of that app. I'll check it out. The "lag when typing fast" could be a problem, but we'll see. Thanks for the link.
Just like Vibrating Dialpad, the resulting vibration is far too long (at least 1 second) even when I configure it for 1ms. Perhaps this is a limitation of something more low-level on the Vouge?
I've tried a couple of these and the lag is always a problem, the vibration wants to be just a slight buzz and linked to the duration of the screen press. It needs to occur instantly too.
The LG touch screen phone seems to do it well.
But in response, I'd pay for a good app.

Trouble accepting calls

Ever since i installed wm6.5 (and I tried a few) I am have trouble accepting incoming calls. This is different from the lock screen issue. Whenever I get an incoming call i see it and either hit the hard key or slide left on-screen to accept but it doesn't answer but continues to ring. if I slide then the slider gets stuck all the way to the left until it stops ringing.
Any ideas as to what could cause this, I have this on different wm6.5 roms, and my friend who has the same wm6.5 rom has no problems.
Please help
well turns out it does answer but takes like a few secs to engage so if i click to answer late in the ring it doesnt have time to answr b4 the person goes to voicemail. i did use trapcall b4, and have now cacelled, maybe it is causing my problems?
any info of how I can reset att to default settings like voicemail and get 100% rid of trapcall.
I got this from a different thread and saved it to my computer just in case I bumped into this problem. I don't know if it'll work on 6.5, but you might want to give it a try:
I had the same problem as many others: When data is on (active or dormant, EVDO or 1xRTT (dormant), it takes many seconds for the calls to be answered, the phone keeps ringing even though I pressed the answer key.
It does appear that one of the tweak applications created the problem, at least for some. After much research, this may be it...
Take a look at your HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings/SuspendResume
It is a multi-sz value and should be #777. If it shows anything like ~GPRS or something containing GPRS, change it back to #777 and soft reset.
When I used PHM Regedit to correct this, it seemed to crash (the reg editor never crashed before now). I had to use SKTool's regedit. I will create an export if this will help you.
Once I changed it back to #777, I can answer the call immediately when data is on, time and time again. Prior to this, there was a significant delay.
Dude, thank you so much, I cant believe it was so simple. But I'm confused how it happened in the first place. Anyways yeah, changing SuspendResume to #777 works wonders.
I've got a slightly different Slide To Answer issue.
I just updated to the newest HTC stock rom for my Touch Pro.
I noticed on the first call that Slide to Answer was part of this rom.
It seemed to work well but suddenly I lost the slide button. The green bar for answer and red for reject are still there but the slider itself has disappeared. The only other thing I have changed since the rom upgrade is to add a cab file (from an XDA thread) that restored my Chinese fonts. Could something in that have disabled the button graphic?
What else could it be? How do I get this button back?
Also, is there a way to customize the Slide to Answer screen?
Rom: 5.07.707.2 WWE
Radio: 1.11.25.01
The Slide-to-Answer, for whatever reason, never worked right on my Fuze, so I just disable it.

Disabling 'Connect error' message?

Hi People.
First off, sorry for not posting this in a specific phone thread, but I believe this is an issue on a range of WinMo devices at different builds.
When travelling around (particularity around Spaghetti Junction in the English Midlands) I often get a message along the lines of:-
The Answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings.

I believe this to be dodgy parts of the cell network not doing proper hand-off's to the next one, as its consistent every time I go through a particular area, and I experienced it with my Athena from WM5 through 6.5 and now also experiencing it on my Topaz in WM6.1 and 6.5 IN THE SAME PLACES!
Whilst this doesn't affect me too much as the phone will reconnect somewhere down the road, I get a flupping annoying popup box which goes to the top layer and doesn't seem to clear without pressing the button. This is fine during normal use, but it even appears in front of TomTom meaning that its difficult to see the navigation buttons.
So... Does anyone know of a way to disable this popup box, or at least make it hide itself after say 5 or 10 seconds? I've done lots of searches for a solution, but there's just nothing.
TIA!

[Q] user preference quesions...

i have a couple "user preference" things that i am going to ask help on. first off i am running Paragon RC6 but don't have enough posts to ask these on that thread (and im not sure that is where they belong anyways). I"m not sure this is the right place for the questions either but here goes....
First: I want to shorten or eliminate the amount of time the "call ended" screen appears after i hit "end call". What i want is when i hit end call the screen goes back to the home screen within approx 1 second (or immediately).
Second: As i mention above i want it to go to the home screen when i hit end call, not the previous screen i was in before i made the call (ie: contact list or call log).
Third: Is there a theme/dialer that when the phone is ringing or dialing the "contact" image is full screen in the background with the dialer as a transparent overlay on top?
I have done a little research looking for this stuff myself, but sometimes i find it very difficult to "search" through the mountains of information that exits on this site. believe me i am not complaining about the information on this site because i have found alot of it very useful however i noticed sometimes the thread starts out with a particular question and before you get ten posts in it's talking about something completely different.
anyways, thank you very much in advance for any and all assistance.
bump (just one time)...

Accidentally hitting HOLD button during calls?

I'm noticing that during many of my calls, I apparently hit the HOLD button accidentally with my cheek. My proximity sensor seems to be working fine, and the screen does turn off appropriately when I hold the phone against my face. I'm assuming that at certain angles enough light gets through to the sensor to turn the screen on, and I accidentally hit the button in the corner. Anyone else have this issue? Is there any way to circumvent this? Thanks
Unfortunately i can't help but i am getting the same issue
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
I tried applying different dialer apps and they only serve to change the dialer/contact screens, but the default calling screen containing the HOLD button remains unchanged. I found that using Skype as the default dialer fixes this issue since it uses its own dialing/calling screens, but obviously it's not practical to just rely on Skype. So the problem still remains unresolved.
As an update, someone on Reddit posted a download link to the Google dialer app here at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/themes-apps/app-google-dialer-t3323432
This installs a new dialer, which actually provides a new calling screen as well, fixing the main issue. The default dialer is better in my opinion since it opens up the dial pad immediately while this one doesn't, but this is a good option at this point

even worst than calls is when you press it while watching youtube vids, i wish there was a lock of some sort cuz the music stops paying all the sudden
It's embarrassing when I put my clients on hold and don't realise until they don't respond to me. The cheek hold doesn't result in any audible sound so you can be talking for 20 seconds with the other end on hold. I love the S7 edge but I'm contemplating sending it back. I'll try the Google dialer mentioned above first though
Same issue here. I talk on the phone almost 2 hours a day and this is happening at least 1-2 times in every call! Checked my proximity sensor and it's working as it should.
Any workarounds? Maybe someone can edit the phone.apk and remove this stupid button or disable it? I am against rooting but I will definitely root my phone if there's a fix for this.
Damn, I suffer exactly the same issue! Found this googling for ideas...
Very old thread, but I just wanted to give a suggestion to others with the same issue. I really love the Google Phone dialer app, which actually replaces the calling screen during calls with this app's own screen, so you no longer have the Hold button at such an unfortunate location. If you do choose Google's app, I recommend this specific version: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-release/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-android-apk-download/
The caller-ID function by Google actually works with this version, whereas the other .apk files floating around do not have this function working properly.
I'm having the same issue and I've installed the Google phone, however as soon as I place the call, the existing on-screen options pop up.
The option to disable the default phone app is greyed out in settings, so unsure on how to resolve.

Finally searched for the answer to this today, after several accidental holds on work calls.
The solution above with Google Phone APK worked for me. I just went to SETTINGS - APPLICATIONS - DEFAULT APPLICATIONS and then under Calling App near the top, changed it from Contacts to Phone. . For some reason, I cannot open the phone app itself (gives an error message) but calls do use the phone app rather than Samsung stock dialer.
Turn off screen!! Most phones allow you to turn screen off without interrupting the call.
Same issue with a galaxy A5 2016
Can't understand why samsung doesn't fix it
