Sync contacts from exchange - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have setup exchange account on my N1, and checked the mark to sync contacts.
It only syncs contacts from the main "Contacts" address book, however I have several other address books. Do you know of a way to sync them too?

I use nitrodesk touchdown for my exchange mail - it is really good they do a 5 day trial and it will enable you to sync your conatcts to the phone. I ended up buying the software for 19.99 just because it was really good exchange client

thanks for your reply.
I have tried it.. and actually didn't quite like it.
Eventually I have moved most of my contacts to gmail, and kept the rest in one contact list on exchange.

Syncing gmail contacts

Before I got my WinMo phone I had all my email accounts in outlook, along with my contacts and calendar. I consolidated all of my email accounts into my gmail account. Imported all of my contacts and calendar entries.
I downloaded my emails to my phone through an IMAP connection, I sync my calendar entries between the phone and gmail. Is there a way I can sync my contacts from my phone to gmail without going through outlook on my computer?
I want to eliminate the middle man (my computer) in all the syncing so all of my stuff is available through my phone or gmail so that way if i'm at a friends and don't have my phone or computer I can still access information if need be.
With the contacts, in case its not clear enough, I synced all my contacts from outlook to my phone when I got it. I then imported all of my contacts from outlook into gmail. Now I get a call on my phone and then add that number as a new contact. How do I sync that new number into gmail without going through outlook?
http://www.google.dk/search?source=...ontacts+pocketpc&btnG=Google-søgning&meta=lr=
tried looking here?
I was searching syncing gmail contacts windows mobile instead of pocketpc and gsync wasn't coming up on my search. Ill have to give it a try later. OGG Sync says it does contacts but the only thing I can find on it is calendar.
Thanks for the help
Gsync doesn't sync contacts from the phone to google. Somebody has to be doing this?
Try nuevasync.com
plexo.com + rememberthemilk.com + mesh.com = complete outlook replacement
Is paid service ($50/yr) but is by far the best I've ever used. Will sync your contacts and calendar with device/outlook/google/yahoo etc. I also use rememberthemilk to sync taks online, and Live Mesh for files and photos. Using Linux as a main OS forces you to find all the best-of-breed non-MS solutions, it's entirely possible to ditch outlook and still have 100% functionality replaced with online cloud services.

Sync all mail accounts in one go

Just a question (not reaaly TD2 related) but since there a lot of gadget freaks here i can ask the question...
I have several mail accounts
Exchange (For business)
Hotmail (Private)
Several others
Now i have to use activesync to sync exchange, then switch to every account and select send/receive.... (i don't use push since i have a gsm only abbo)
is there some tool out there that let me sync all mail at once ? and if it's possible and get the latest A-GPS data and wheather as well...
Think the only way around it is to setup forwarding of accounts to one of your accounts and then pick them all up from there through activesync with something like Microsoft Outlook

[Q] Sync Calender?

So I have 2 main email Adresses conected with my Phone.
One is my Xbox live account and the second one is the Primary calender and Gmail account I use. Both are Gmail Accounts.
The Problem is that the calender syncs neither of those accounts.
How do I fix that?
it is set to Sync in the options.
Thanks in advance!
wp7 can currently sync the 'main' calendar from any of your email accounts. It wont sync either of them? It should be able to sync both calendars if you want to (only the primary calendar for each).
Thanks for the quick reply
so I tested it with both accounts. It does sync the calender if I enter the date on the pc, but it does not sync it back to the gmail calender if I create the event on the phone.
hmm..that is weird. I put things on my phone all the time, and they end up in my online calendar as well. Although I just use my hotmail calendar.
Try unchecking the sync with calendar box, and redoing it. I really don't know why it only sync's one way, maybe somebody else can chime in?
I know thats the weird thing.
So i did some testing the primary email acc is the [email protected] addy, but the main acc I use is the other one.
If i use the calender on gmail it wont work, but it will copy from the hotmail cal to the phone but not back to the hotmail cal.
And my main acc doe not sync at all.
it is very weird, maybe because I have two accs?
I just tested with my Google Calendar. Put in an appointment on phone, and it was up online within seconds.
Then I deleted that event online, and was taken off phone. I then added a different one online, and it was sent to the phone calendar almost instantly.
Worked very well, so not sure whats causing your issue

Question about using POP account through Hotmail

Hi,
Till now I am using Gmail to fetch my pop3 accounts and it is just perfect.
But it doesn't really syncing with WP.
The main question is, if I migrate my pop3 accounts from Gmail to Hotmail, is it will be possible (on my phone) to send emails from various accounts?
It will only be possible if you add the POP account's login info to your WP7 device.
as a separate mail account?
Correct. You don't really have to sync them, if you don't want to, but that will make sending replies pretty hard.
I did not understood..
How exactly I have to set the accounts?
The phone doesn't support custom FROM fields, so far as I know. You can sync your POP3 (people still use that?) accounts to the phone and reply from them, of course. If you get your POP3 accounts through Hotmail, they'll probably show up on the phone but the replies will appear to come from Hotmail.
OK, I see that here is no way to use just one inbox for now as Microsoft advertise Hotmail...
Sad because Gmail on Android works perfect, I wish here were also.
Well, you could certainly sync your POP3 accounts to the phone, and then merge the inboxes for them with your Hotmail or Gmail (or both) accounts. Then, it's a "one inbox" experience on the phone, certainly.
The main thing is not how they will look like on the phone.
For me is important to be in one place- gmail or hotmail..

Sync Exchange Contacts Include/Exclude by Category?

It seems with the stock email app synching contacts from an Exchange server is an all or nothing ordeal.
Currently I'm working with the nothing option by having previously synched all my exchange contacts in, backed up to gmail contacts, broke the Exchange contact sync and pruned gmail contacts and resynchronized to gmail contacts.
The problem is as I add contacts in Outlook I have to add them manually to my phone as well since there are a lot of contacts in Exchange I do not want on my phone.
My coworker's Motorola Droid allowed for synching only Exchange contacts by category. That is, categories are assigned on Outlook and the list of categories is loaded onto the phone and from the phone a category can be checked or unchecked to be included or excluded for synching.
This seems to be an appropriate solution for being selective about which Exchange contacts actually end up in my phone contacts. Unfortunately I'm not seeing such an option in the stock app. Is there such an option and if not is there an Exchange capable email app that does [provide this functionality without sacrificing the otherwise useful functionality of the stock app?
Thanks for the help!

I'd love to see this too. It would make it so much easier with BT voice dialing.
