Live police scanner listening on FUZE - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi,
I am just curious about how to listen to these. A buddy sent me an iphone app to Radioreference.com. I can pull these up on my home PC, but unable to get my fuze to open them correctly. I can listen to my local Police, Fire and EMS as well as many others across the country.
My fuze wants to download them as a file but not open and play them.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Try to search for wunderradio.
Fantastic little app that you can use to listen to radiostations from all over the world and also the scanners that you are looking for.

For those wondering about this:
I found an answer on this at the Radioreference forum. Someone running sense 2.5 WM 6.5, said they ran a free program called GSplayer. He also only used skyfire for the internet feed, due to flash being built in. Basically you visit the feed you want and download a windows file. Then you point GSplayer to the file and after you wait 15 seconds or so for buffering you are listening to live Police chat.
I am really pleased at how well this works!
Be advised, how you use this may or may not be legal in your state. I am surprised at the number of areas that have local live feeds.

I personally use Resco Radio, where I've added several live police scanners I found on shoutcast.com and police-scanner.info/live-police-scanners.htm

Can I record and then send sound files from an xda / xda II

Can I record my voice on an XDA / XDAII etc and then
1) send it by phone for someone to hear and
2) upload it to my web page so others could run it from the site or download it and listen later, say as an MP3 file?
In essence it would be using it like a ditaphone of old.
Sorry if this has been asked b4, I ran a search but couldn't find it in there.
Thanks all
you could beam the file to the other xdaI/II
guess you could host it if you just got hold of a ftp client you could upload it to what ever
Sorry - I've just realised a part answer to my qs
1. I mean to any phone that could play sound - rather like a mp3 version of a voicemail
2. I can use active sync to drop the file onto my pc and ftp it (as you said) can't I?
cjs
NoteM is the perfect program for your purposes. It records in .mp3 with good quality, then you can send the files by e-mail, or you can use it as a dictaphone. I am using it for some time on my XDA II, replacing the original recording program on the HW button. And it is free! http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?download=626
thanks for the reply - it sounds (no pun intended, honestly) just like what I want. All I now need is to buy an xda. I guess that's a rather important next step!
As an aside, it'll be good to get an xda, I used to use an HP 500 series PDA but passed onto the Psion Revo - b&w screen but the semi-size keyboard made data input sooo much quicker - but the all-in-one-box approach of the xda is drawing me back in that direction.
Also, I want to be able to access web pages 'on the street' and then use the data I've retrieved and that's gotta be easier on the xda than juggling phone + pda and setting up links etc.
Thanks for the post

Of course, there are several other devices on the market that combine phone and Pocket PC, e-mailing, internet, etc. Before you choose, make a survey what fits you the best.
An MDA III Compact device (at T-mobile) has got to the market lately with a sliding keyboard, if screen tapping makes problem to you.
Good luck!
the sliding keyboard does appeal to me. I'm currently with orange for my normal phone and I believe they've launched their version of this xda. I'll check it out

list of SOFTWARE added to FTP site

It's been kind of hard for me to find really good software for my PPC. So here I give you a list of what I currently think you should have. Look for them on the e-mule.
UTILS
pTravelAlarm 2.05
-Its much better than the original windows alarm and it allows you to set up even the days of the week that each alarm should sound.
Pocket Controller-Professional 5.02
-Just for fun. With this prog installed into the PC and the PPC you can run use your device throw the computer.
Resco Audio Recorder 3
-The name says it all. I use it to record personalized ringtones for my friends, now my mobile speaks and tell me who is calling.
Resco Keyboard PRO 4.33
-I speak spanish and its kind of obseting not to have the ñ character to send SMS.
SPB PocketPlus 3.0
-The funtion I like the most is that now I can swich throw programs without closing them.
WinamPAQ 0.93
-Its really usefull if you want to use your PPC as a media device.
WorldMate Pro 3.0
-I like to know how is the weather before stepping out the door.
hi
although most of us still use some pirated softwares on our ppc but this forum is not for that.. there are plenty of other forums where this stuff goes on and lets not bring that over here
im sure the MODS would agree with me on this
thanks
I agree - I have edited his post, as you can see.
Please don't use this forum as a platform for cracked software. This is a great danger to a forum that is bringing so much joy and help to us. Let us alltogether try to keep it safe and clean...
Thank you
Where should I send it?
I didn´t find a cracked PPC software site, I downloaded it all from the e-mule
I don't think anyone can separate files from E-mule...you can get only download pathes...99% of the network is pirated stuff i suppose...
You dont get anything free on emule, its all warez stuff

Looking For Free IM App For WM6/SmartPhone, and free SSH app

Hi. I'm running a T-Mobile Dash with Windows Mobile 6, and I'm looking for a free IM client that can connect to AIM, at least. I know Windows Live gives me Pocket MSNIM, but only a tiny minority of my friends use that. The on-board Oz Instant Messenger refuses to work with AT&T, and I just get error messages, so I'm kind of at a stand-still right now.
The other thing I'm looking for is a lower priority, I'm trying to find an SSH client for my SmartPhone too. PocketPuTTY, I've heard of, but I can't seem to find it. Again, I'm cheap, so I'm hoping for something free.
There's one catch to all this: I'm running a Mac, so EXE installers are no-go. CABs and SFX (Self-Extracting ZIPs) are usable, but anything more complex isn't going to work.
Thanks for all the help!

Welcome to XDA-Dev
Rule of thumb: follow my articles - I've published full Bibles and roundups on almost all aspects of handheld computing. Your question is answered in the Smartphone General forum, at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323654
Let me know if you need help in extracing the CAB file of any EXE installers - I'll upload it for you.
Oohh, useful!
Well, thank you. Your article was thorough, and (in the end) informative. I was aware of Mundu, IM+ and Imov messengers, and I was hoping someone had an alternative to them that was free. Your article eventually lead me to the Basic version of Imov, but the problem is that it's one of those set-up EXEs that I can't seem to crack. I've managed to find a download of Imov Basic 1.22, and I'd be willing to provide it for you.
Thank you for the offer, and all the help.
is there any cracked verson available for mundu

Since I don't see it mentioned, you may be able to use PocketPuTTY,
http://www.pocketputty.net/ ,
for a SSH application. It works for me. The file that you download while named PocketPuTTY.exe is a Windows Mobile binary. Just copy it to your phone and run it. Hope it works for you.
So regarding IM clients Do they all use webgateways provided by the Makers. Are there any that directly connect to the AIM, Yahoo!, and MSN Servers?
Not that I walk around wearing a tinfoil hat. but I just like to know where my data is being sent.
Octro Chat uses one. But I can't find any info as to if mundu uses one. If they all use it I will get over it but I was just curious is anyone knew.
pocket putty doesnt run on smartphones just ppc. i am also looking for a free shh client for smartphone (wm standard)
if your looking for just aim..this is about as good as your gonna get lol

GPS software for Tornado

Hello you fine bunch of people out there! I was wondering what was the best gps software for the tornado? And if someone can post a link to where I can find it.THANKS!!!
Use Route 66 Mobile 7 for Windows Mobile Smartphone
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/31361762/Route_66_Mobile_7_WMS_7.0.3040_EasyInstall.zip
not working on my imate SP5. Application starts, shows startup screen, apparently connects with GPS, and shuts down. Any ideas?
of course not, nobody on here knows how to fix anything! I've been looking all day for an answer as to why route 66 7 keeps telling me that there isn't enough memory to load the map and then shuts down, nobody knows. Plenty of threads from like 2006! but nobody knows! AHGHHHHHHHH!!!!! I probably won't get a decent answer for that anytime soon either. Good luck man! and sorry bout this.

You need to buy an SMARTPHONE map for your location
I was looking for GPS software myself a while ago. What I finally decided on was GPSDash (http://wimobi.com/gpsdash/overview.sph2.php?pid=sph2). What I liked was the ability to use custom maps, which are easily made with Google map downloader (for either satellite maps or street maps)
You have to register both to get full functionality and there's no navigation function, but it works well enough for dataloging and knowing exactly where you are.
Aside from that, I also recommend the Google Maps application for smartphones if you have a data plan. It ties with your GPS and, even if you don't have a GPS, gives you an approximate location based on cell tower triangulation.
One more site to mention is http://www.maps-gps-info.com/fgpfw.html. I stumbled across it looking for j2me apps for an old Nextel phone I have. There's lots of smartphone apps there, but I haven't tried most of them.
GPSVP is free too

Have you tried the Windows Live Search? It includes Maps, Driving Directions, From-To-Reverse Route, and many other little features. Maybe not as powerfull as the paid GPS softwares, but surely has got me out of trouble on the road many times. I can post you link if you care to see it, or just search for "Windows Live Search". Its a 700+ Cab. Good Luck

I use google voice. I use last.fm to scrobble. And pandora.
None of this are on windows mobile marketplace.

Can somebody please guide me in the right direction for replacements
or if the programs are available please tell me how to get them?
I also noticed my email inbox looks like it never left the 90's. Html emails are not being displayed and pictures are not loading automatically.

Okay... look here for all the apps we use on our hd2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603880
On Windows Mobile.. you can look for apps outside of the "marketplace".. you download them as a .cab file (on pc or phone) and place them on the sd card if you want... which out the box is unique to windows mobile (doesn't eat up phone memory (but not that we lack it on the new hd2 lol))
Once the .cab file is on your phone/sd card... in the phone you go to file explorer (in the start menu)... click on it and navigate to where you placed the .cab file and run it. You can save the installation to the "device" because there is plenty of memory and tends to run better.
To awnser your questions;
[1] Google voice idk, but im sure google will have a wm app out soon (if not already, im not 'in' google voice so dunno)
[2] Last.fm Googling around a bit i see they (or someone) released a windows mobile app in 2008, but all links to it trow a 404, so check out their mobile forums, specifically this sticky
[3] Pandora, just read this; http://www.pandora.com/on-windowsmobile (Point your mobile phone's browser to www.pandora.com)
[4] Incomplete emails Thats just a setting since most people use gprs/hsdpa, im sure you can change it, either somewhere in the settings or trough a registry edit
Though i just have to say/write this, DONT GET ME WRONG but honestly, you shouldn't try to make this like your iPhone, although Microsoft/HTC are clearly trying to 'collect' some iPhone users, overall the HD2 isn't user friendly enough to be a iPhone (yes i sayd it) That doesn't mean you shouldn't stick with the HD2 though, just forget the iPhone
To put some strength behind my 'user friendly' statement, if your ROM is from before 1.66, the HD2 will have quite some silly bugs, like SMS messages that get stuck in the outbox but only (if your lucky) send 3 weeks later, problems with the camera, not beeing able to read/write large miniSD cards & more.
On the other hand, if your in any way IT related or just in general good with computers, this is currently the best phone on the market (counting HD2 and HD2b as one) it does the latest wireless connection methods, has build-in gps, compass and g-sensor, a 1ghz gpu, a 'gpu' (kinda) and more geeky features, and hey, it can emulate most psx games at full speed (www.fpsece.net)
I'd just strongly suggest you to get a new ROM from the HTC site, assuming you have a device with pre 1.66
I hope the above helped a bit, not trying to make windows mobile even more confusing for you, just trying to tell you that it cant really be compared to iPhone/Android, it can be compared to windows, there are actually millions of apps, nobody ever felt the need for a windows marketplace until iPhone got one and Microsoft had to compete, at which they currently fail hard i agree, the windows marketplace thing is a joke, just use google.
