i would also love this option...if for no other reason than to match the rest of the clear themed stuff.
please does anyone know if this is possible
Well i was capable of making it transparent but only when the screen transitions and you can see it is transparent when I pull the taskbar down. I dont know how to get it transparent on the home screen.
Probably could be done the same way you recolor it. Just use a transparent .png file instead of a colored one. Its a good idea, I'd use it.
do you know which file has to be changed i looked but could not find it

I actually tried this and it did not work, just made the task bar black. My theory is that the wallpaper ends at the task bar rather than covering it . If that is true I think you would have to "fake" a clear task bar by making it match your wallpaper. I have done this successfully with solid colors, but it would be harder with a more complicated wallpaper.
Example:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

I have a ATT Tilt w/ default rom.
The WAD2 theme I am using is black, however, the top bar and bottom bar are still the default blue. So when I go into file explorer or click on the start button, the default blue bars ruin my theme.
Any way to change those to black?
I searched and came across some threads, but those went beyond what I was looking for and confused me (not a programmer).
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I am even welling to install WA3 to get it black.
Hope this helps

You should search for BlackBerry Redux theme.
Someone else did it and it is an amazing theme. I have changed a couple items to match my needs and WAD2 is great for that. Easy to learn also.
I would like to change the color of top/bottom bar for matching my wallpaper. I used a software "theme maker" to make it. However, when I applied it on my D2, the color was different from that I created in theme maker. I wanted to make a bright orange color, but it comes out with a dark light brown......
Any bros. here can tell me what happen and how to make it correctly? Thanks

Try UI Tweaker
Those bars are part of classical windows theme. You can change it in All settings/Personal/Today. There are three or four options but web is full of winmo themes.

Sorry but they can be changed, I've tried it with soft above. Topaz WWE stock ROM.
I sucessfully changed the color that I wanted! But the dark line still exist. May be the resolution of HD and D2 is different, I have tried to use the default wallpaper, that makes the line thinner but cannot be eliminated.
I actually want to update to WM6.5 for a transparent task/command bar, but I dont know much about the software things and afraid that the warranty would be voided....
Default Wallpaper----->
I used Theme Maker to change the color of task bar, but the lighting/3D effect disppear that makes the bar so FLAT.....
its possible to change with personalize software..

So, do you mind to tell which software is suitable for D2?
can some bros tell me how to get rid of that black line?? I dont like the black task/command bar 'cause it makes the screen looking smaller!

I made this (and I am definitely not a photoshop expert as you can see) and this is not glossy unlike Dinik Anastasia icons but it does sort of do the trick for me.
i have switched out many bad icon using CSMI (change start menu icon). works like a charm...
note - i realized that it does matter wherever you store your new icons (meaning you can't switch them and delete the original graphic) and you can't move them around at will. so i just put them all in a folder on my sd card and now no problems.
cheers.

Yep, just save to comp then transfer to phone. You will have to use an icon changer program app like JWMD icon changer, or CSMI (if you search those here on XDA, you will find the cab files with the instructions on how to use them). I use JWMD since it has intuitive UI and is easy to use. Changing icons is a tedious process since you have to do it one icon at a time. Good luck!
thanks.. i think i got it to work.. cheers
i got this one. maybe someone can make white corners transparent. no soft installed right now
Here you go.
hmm now there is a big white frame around.
maybe you can make it like the other two
thx
no white frame
It is a png file, the white background is transparent. And you are welcome.

Currently there is no way to my knowledge to use clear or transparent notification bars with lp. But yesterday, I noticed that it would show through With a live wallpaper selected. I also recently downloaded just pictures which comes with a live wallpaper also.
So download Just pictures. Open it and select your favorite wallpaper(s) Long press it and add to favorites. Then go and select the just pictures live wallpaper. Then watch them shine through your previously installed clear taskbar.
I realize this is a live wallpaper and may use a little battery. Though I havnt Noticed any difference.

exactly how i feel
anyways, why can't this be done by editing framework-res.apk? i'm pretty sure i had a clear taskbar when i edited mine. i just didnt like the look of the fully clear taskbar because some apps' backgrounds would show through the area where the taskbar went...but the point is it worked? i only use launcherproplus as well
I'm sure if you rip apart lp's Apk you might be able to. However im not that Savy with all that and I'm sure if it was that Easy it would have been done already. Unless devs are just not sharing.

launcher pro and live wallpaper don't work good together for me. it tends to be sluggish when scrolling through screens.
Do u have a quick link to setting up the battery indicator the way u have it displayed? I've been looking for something just like that.
edit: nevermind, found it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848803
Interesting. Are you saying that while using that program, I can choose non-live wallpapers and they would be transparent or only with live wallpapers? If using just images, it shouldn't really drain battery...I don't think...
I agree on the battery drain. And only live wallpapers will work

Hi guys and girls, I have a tf101 and woud like to be able to make the status bar transparent like the one in this HD2 mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031106
Is this something that can be done? If so please help by posting a how to, if already done please post a link to the right thread to goto.
Thanks,
Dan
That is for cyanogen mod 7...
The status bar isn't even handled the same way in honeycomb.
Is it possible on the transformer (or any other honeycomb device)?
Maybe, that method won't work though, it was done (most likely) by making an image transparent, I don't think the status bar background in honeycomb is an image (could be wrong here) but in the code somewhere instead.
And I know it isn't in the same location...
Good luck finding a honeycomb version of this, it would be a cool mod, but unlikely.
You may be able to create a theme with transparent images for the taskbar, this can be done using any version of photoshop.

These aren't status bar backgrounds. The pcb background is part of the actual button/notification. I know because I've pulled this theme apart and looked at the images.
