Problems with Resco explorer 2010 v8.00 - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi
I've just loaded the above application onto my HTC HD2. The main explorer component works as well as ever, but I can't seem to be able to utilize the Resco Today plug in and although the Resco Task Manager appears in the program menu, I can't get it to close applications down in the usual way.
Does anyone know if the above issues are a function of the HTC sence platform, or are they resolvable.
May thanks

don't install resco explorer 2010 via CAB (i have the same problem with it) but install with your phone connected to your pc with active-sync and use the *.exe file setup you can download from the resco website
p.s. excuse my english.

What did you do to install resco explorer? (Did you use a .cab? or the .exe file found at their website?)
When you're in Resco Explorer, press "Menu" > Options > Add-ins.
Don't you get a message there like "download resco today now"? (if so, you didn't install it )

HTC Touch diamond ROM update Re-register TOMTOM

Hi all,
I have a small question
I have a HTC Touch diamond and i just updated the rom to the version of 2009-01-16.
I had TomTom 7 installed on my internal storage.
After the update tomtom seems to work just fine BUT its off my programs list(seems okay because i updated the rom).
Is there any way to re-register tomtom to the programs list without completely re-installing it.
I can't seem to find any info on the xda developer forum.
Is there anyone who can help me?
Grz,
Zooibak
I don't think you can re-register the program.. But what you can do is, simply create a shortcut for your tomtom executable in the programs folder.. You can use File explorer program like Resco Explorer to achieve this..

Opening *.txt files

Hi to all. First of all, I've tried to search but I got to ask since I can't find this topic anywhere.
Ok. Does anybody know how I can open a file with the extension *.txt with my preferred program? When I click directly on the filename, the text is opened in Word Mobile. I would like to just click the filename and don't open my application before I can edit my file. I'm using another application that I prefer for editing my txt files. All suggestions are welcome
use total commander to associate file extensions with programs if your pref
or do it manually using a reg-editor
Thanks for the reply. But if I associate from TC, it still open with MW when I start any txt file from todayscreen, (from within PocketPlus). I suppose that using the TC only work when you open from TC? So I'll try to use a reg.edit. and see what happens. Thanks again.
you can use Schap's Advanced Configuation and change file associations..
I've tried Adv Conf 3.3, but still the Mobile Word opens my txt files
what do you use to open them? you might have specific file associations in your file browser.
what about resco explorer? it works to fix this problem in my device
I prefer the NeboPad, and the registry sais that my txt files should be opened with NeboPad. It seems that MS override this, during the copyright
this is impossible. assiciations are set via OS.. if you set a specific association in Adv Config.. it'll work for the OS unless you're using a file manager that opens using its own preferences. try another file explorer like Resco
I'm running it from Spb Pocket Plus and not from any file explorer. In the Advanced Configuration 3.3 it's stated that file with the extension of *.txt, should be opened with \Program Files\NeboPad\NeboPad.exe. But still it's opened with Mobile Word. I think I'll have to go back to Notes with the *.pwi extension. Anyway, thank's for trying.
Regards
if you use notes and it works thru Spb Pocket Plus it means that this NeboPad is the problem, not your association.

Well. I've tried a lot of editors and pad programs by this time, but every time I try to open a TXT file, it comes up in PWORD. This must be something in the OS itself I belive. Or has anyone managed it to work?
At last!
Finally I've found a program that's works. It's MobilePad (nice too).

Cant install Resco Explorer

I have searched quite thoroughly, both on this forum and wider, for a solution to this. I may be being thick, but...
When I've installed (to either the device or the SD card ) Resco Explorer I get "this is not a valid pocket pc application" when I try to run it. I've tried running it from the start menu shortcut and from the application icon in Program Files.
Would really appreciate help with this as I am unable to do any of the nice HKLM tweaks out there without Resco Explorer.

Sounds like you may have downloaded an incorrect version. Can you give us a link to where you got it from?
Well its not exactly an official source, if you see what I mean. I dont mind paying for the application, if it proves to be useful and easy for me to use. Until then I guess Im a bit stuck then.
Ive tried .cab of the 2010 beta and the 2008 "rescoexploreren_p.exe" app, installed via the PC.
You can download a free trial of Resco, but I'd recommend Total Commander. It's not as finger friendly as Resco, but it's certainly more wallet friendly (as in, it's free )
You can Google it or find it on here.
on my leo, resco file explorer 2010 runs without a problem. so i think it's because of your 'source' why it's not running on your device.
try the official demo or search for better "source". but first be sure not having downloaded a virus (actually infecting your pc)
On my HD2 Resco Explorer 2008 running without any problem, downloaded from resco.net and installed via pc.

Yea, I've been running the beta for a while...it's very finger friendly
Anyway to assign the resco task manager (used in the today plugin) to shortcut or hardware button ? It would be great !

Yep, will be fine. I'm sure some skilled user can tell us where we can find the shortcut, or how create it.
Today is the day....waiting

This should be relatively easy if the task manager is a standalone application. I dont know if it is because I havent installed it yet. But someone of you who has the new program installed could search his sytem for a exe file that runs the manager. If such an exe exists in the system, all you have to do is to create a shortcut with .lnk extension to that exe file and place the shortcut in the Windows folder and rename it to "long_send.lnk" or "long_end.lnk". After that it should open after long pressing of the send key or end key
The news aren't any longer on the website! Finally resco maybe decided to release it later!?
Here you go... Press Releases
I stay at Total Commander

I also prefer TotalCommander as I use it on my PC since years. But is there any chance to get it more finger-friendly? I've seen that the most recent beta which is recommended for 6.5 still has the old UI.
download available now i think!

It's not working so well for me. Scrolling is unresponsive at times, it's slow to navigate between pages and the 'Rename' option from the 'File' menu doesn't work at all
I'm back to the 2008 version.
A point which nobody seems to have mentioned: This program costs $30! The demo is restricted to 7 days and, like all of their products, the full price isn't even shown on the page :/ You have to add it to the cart to see how much it is.
The competition (ie. Total Commander) is totally free. If you enable large icons in TotalCommander then it's just as finger friendly and also has its own advantages..

The taskmanager (RTask.exe) is indeed a standalone program and is located in "Program Files\Resco Today Plugin.

If you have the registered version 2008 and install version 2010 Resco license expires in 30 days instead of 7 which gives a clean installation
