T-mobile MT3G 1.6 question on updating Android - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hi everyone, I need some help.
I have a T-mobile My Touch 3G phone that I have not rooted or hacked into. Its all stock.
I have been banging my head since last august 2009 that I cant get bluetooth voice dialing on this phone when I press the call button on the Bluetooth device.
My phone from 10 years ago has it so why this modern phone lacks that??
Anyway, this is my question. Is it worth while to put a newer Android OS on the phone. I am seeing 2.0 and 2.1
Will this solve my problem??
And if I have to flash my phone, could I get a step my step way to do this that is geared more to a novice that is even scared of his shadow
If updated Android wont give me this, Is it better to leave it?? or is there more advantages
Thanks for all your help !

[Q] T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant t959

Hello all and right away I'd like to start with this. Please don't think of me like I don't want to do no work at all as you'll understand later on I did a lot of research but I am simply too confused and stuck to continue with confidence that I know 100% all nuances and details so I can do whatever I want successfully so if possible don't flame my questions too if possible
A Week ago I got a T-Mobile t959 Vibrant as a gift from someone and because I know pretty much everything about iphone and Android system is same if not more "hackable" I decided to do the tricks myself, I didn't know how much available, and I really love to keep this short and don't bored you with my lack of Android knowledge. Let me begin with complete spec so I possibly can get correct solution to my problem.
Unit: Samsung Galaxy S
Carrier: T-Mobile
Model: SGH-T959
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: T959UVJI6
Kernel: 2.6.29
Build number: ECLAIR.UVJI6
Manuf. Date: 10.10.2010
I think this should be enough info about my unit but if you need something else plz let me know.
Here are things I am trying to do and already did.
1. Root.
I Successfully Rooted my phone by using a tutorials I found on internet. I have Superuser icon in my apps list.
2. Unlock
I could not unlock my phone. Only tool I found that I can actually understand and complete instructions is SGS Unlock tool. It could not help me on both root and un-root ways. So I'll need help with this.
3. Update to latest version.
from what I understand there are custom builds available like Darkys 9.2 and it's collection of a lot of things that pretty much all in one deal. I almost tried to install it myself but I could not find home button on my Vibrant to go to download mode so I gave up.
4. Rest of cool stuff.
I really don't know guys but I am sure there is soo much for android I don't know. Just like when people come to me with iphone I offer so much I bet it's same with this. General tips I guess.
Well that's it guys. If possible please just tell me in few short words on how to do this things if possible may be some YouTube video or something cause I am soo confused with everything and that "Hold Home button" in instructions was last drop when I said "I don't even have home button on my phone, what am I doing"
Please help, Thank you.
P.S.
1. Can I use ebay to order unlock code ?
2. Will phone remain unlock after I upgrade to 2.2 ?
3. Can I upgrade to 2.2 with Kies mini then root / unlock it ?
So many questions and thousands of answers .....
UPDATE !
I just purchased SGS Unlock pro and it looks like it worked ! I don't have sim to test with but I think I did it. From what I understand it's same people who run this site, Thank you !
I guess noone knows. It's all good. At list can you tell me if this will do this trick ?

[Q] Hey, quick Question

A friend of mine has a Palm Pre, and he is mad because when he got it, the Android craze hadn't really set in yet, but now his carrier's got him locked with this phone for a good couple of years.
SO, here comes the question:
Is it possible to somehow put Android onto the Pre?
I heard of a way of doing it, but it needs the computer to run it, meaning that when you unplug the phone it will be webOS again.
I'm looking for a more "permanant" way of actually installing it onto the Pre.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Since you guys here at XDA are such geniuses and fix most any problem, this should be a piece of cake. After all, you found a way to put Ubuntu on Android phones, how hard could this be, same idea right?
though there're some team are working on it, it is still not that easy cuz some kernel codes of webos are not open-source. And this threadhas discussing about it.
they started working on it 3 months before the first pre came out but they never could get any where

[Q] xperia pro remove android 4.0?

Hi guys: two days ago I've bought my first android phone. While discovering it and still setting things up, update to version 4.0 was offered, so I did it. Result is that phone is slow, which means more then 10 seconds waiting when clicked to dialer. Much worse then previous version.
I've just did hard reset, lost all data, but performance is still very poor. So only solution for a noob like me is to roll back to Gingerbread.
Can you please advise how to do it, actually, is there some tutorial how to do this easily?
thanks in advance

Bluetooth Smart 4.0 pairing with Samsung GT S7710 Xcover 2

Hi new to the forum.
I bought the Xcover 2 in order to get a smartphone capable of surviving in the construction site.
But I realised it could not hold too many apps.
It's screen is allready shattered but at least, thanks to xda, I rock rootetd it and I can now have some usefull apps with me at work.
This week I bought a brand new Leica Disto D510 laser distancemeter with bluetooth pairing to use on site with my ruged (!) smartphone but ... Oh Lord, it DOESN'T PAIR.
It uses Bluetooth Smart 4.0 which can only be used with Android 4.3 or higher!!!! BoloX. The Xcover 2 runs 4.1.2
So THE QUESTION:
1: Is there any way to go around this without upgrading? I don't want to push the poor device too far and since it was designed for 4.1.2 I would like ti leave it with that if possible.
2: If I have to upgrade.. how the heck do you do that? I ,ve spent more that three hours now trying to find the right ROM to flash and I can't!!!!
Thanks in advance to the lady or gentleman, kind enough to post an answer. He will save me the cost of a new phone.

i dont believe there is any direct way around the bt issue.
your phone shipped with 4.1.2, seems odd that it never got any updates. did you go into settings near the bottom or in about phone, and check for updates?
there is at least one 4.4 rom for your phone that i found with a quick search, so there must be root and custom recovery some where, but its difficult for me to give accurate advice on how to proceed for a device i have no experience with.
ill just throw a couple google search links down here for you to look through if there are no software updates when you check.
if you decide to go the custom route, the first thing you want to do after installing twrp, and before installing a custom rom, is make a backup and save a copy to your pc for safe keeping. some times on these less popular devices it is hard to impossible to find the factory software, so you need a backup of it if anything goes wrong, or you dont like the rom.
