hi its my first thread on here, after having my phone for over 6 months ive come to getting the freezing problem sorted, its running much better with nand android and i enjoy it i have problems down loading apps and is there a way i can jailbreak the phone ? i want to get sat nav etc, on the phone i need like a little bit of guidance, thanks saf
Im using one! Its really fast and smooth rather than WM 6.5.

Hello all, I have a couple questions about the WP7.8 Sianto Edition for the HTC Arrive. I have the Sprint Arrive and am considering putting this rom on my phone. First I would like to know if anyone knows what kind of unlock it has, if any. Also, does the USB Tethering work in the 1.6 for the Arrive? I see it listed for the 1.6.1 for the 7 Pro..
And does anyone have any input on how reliable this rom is? I am looking for forward to the 2.0L that is said to be coming soon. As of late my phone has gotten so slow and my data connection speed is terrible lately. It seems every week it gets worse and I am having many apps just crash to the home screen and apps that rely on the data like radio apps just take forever to even open now. My wife has this same phone on the same network and hers is not having any of these issues.

Concerning the slow speeds, if you upgraded your phones memory by swapping the sd card, the two can be related (for example, my youtube videos are very sluggish while streaming). I Have an international 7 pro (no carrier branding) and it's been 10 months since my last hard reset (when I upgraded the memory from 8 to 32 gigs) and i am also experiencing very slow load times, but I don't know about the apps crashing. Data loading is also a bit slow on my side (on some apps while refreshing) but internet explorer just works fine.
But I remember the phone working just fine right after the memory upgrade, so my guess is that constantly adding and erasing apps and files like videos, music and pictures are kind of messing up the responsiveness of the system.
PS: Sorry for my response not being specific enough to your case. I didn't want to reply at first but since the 7 pro forums aren't much populated lately, I thought that my idea on the subject could help.

thanks for your reply, i was starting to think i wasnt getting one! lol but yea my phone is very slow compared to my wifes phone and has been since i got it. before the mango update it was laggy just scrolling on the Start screen. im hoping it is just the ROM that came on the phone, so thats partly why i want to update to the 7.8.. also i want the unlock benefits, but i cant seem to find if the Sianto ROM is unlocked or not.

For one, yes, the Sianto ROM IS unlocked.
And for another, the first time I loaded the Sianto ROM on my phone, it was at v1.4, I believe. After going through the steps, my phone was it's fastest ever, and I loved my phone even more than when I had first gotten it. Things were great for about a week, until tragedy struck: an app I installed from the Bazaar marketplace while at school basically bricked my phone. So, I borrowed a friends phone, let people know I would be incommunicado, and waited out the day. When I got home, I immediately came here to XDA, and tried to remember which ROM I had loaded, but wasn't able to get the same computer I had originally used. I remembered Sianto's name, but then saw ansar's ROM, and decided to try that one.
Long story fairly short: I switched back to Sianto after about a day, and haven't looked back since.
I don't know about USB tethering, but the internet sharing works in v1.6, and I especially like that Digital Power was added to the Settings. Every time I flashed my phone before, I had to reinstall Digital Power, but not with this version!
All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend Sianto v1.6, and I know that when v2.0L comes out, I'm definitely going to flash it.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post about this so here I go.
I've got an Arc S, rooted, unlocked bootloader. Problem is, I wanna upgrade to 4.2 at least, since I'm on 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587) but NOT A SINGLE TUTORIAL OR ANYTHING ELSE HELPED WHEN TRYING TO UPGRADE.
I've been on over 20 sites, tried over 10 how-to's, I already bricked the phone a couple of times, so I'm getting tired of this ****.
The other times I upgraded (from GB to ICS, it took a while, since ICS had just come out, so there were no auto-tools for rooting/etc), it worked beautifully, especially with the XDA how-to's, was just awesome. But now, I can't even get to the recovery mode. The only time I managed to was with the latest X-Parts, but that bricked my phone when I launched the ROM install (CM 10.1, if I recall), this time tho, it can't even install the recovery.
So I'm pretty much outta options, or I wouldn't be bothering you guys with this. I'm pretty sure it's either a failure on SE's part, but every god damned time I tried to boot into recovery mode I get into this useless "safe mode".
I'm far from being a Linux/Unix noob, but god damned, Android's more of a joke than a real distro.
I get that manufacturers and especially carriers **** Android in every way they can, so they should be skinned alive for making this harder on us, in their retarded quest for -illusionary- control over their customers, but this is getting ridiculous.
Please guys, any help would be appreciated.

I hope you can help. A long time ago I updated my wife's unlocked Vodafone UK G300 to Android 4.0.3 - I think it was the standard Huawei firmware and it has a Chinese splash screen. I do not think I rooted the phone though (since she had no need for those features). Settings tells me it is 4.0.3 baseband 2030 Kernel version 3.08.-perf-00245-gf3d97be Build number U8815V100R001C86B944 if that all helps?
Anyway, although the phone meets her needs in full it runs really slowly - I mean 1-2 second waits for most icons to respond. She is demanding a new phone which is reasonable but this seems like something I new firmware or clean up should sort. However, I have no idea where to start. She just needs a pretty generic firmware with nothing flash but that is responsive. Also I obviously don't want to lost all the apps and her personal data. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Although I have no idea what to do, I am confident in following rooting/jail breaking instructions and don't mind spending time on this. As a geek I seem to enjoy this kind of thing!

I bought the Xcover 2 in order to get a smartphone capable of surviving in the construction site.
But I realised it could not hold too many apps.
It's screen is allready shattered but at least, thanks to xda, I rock rootetd it and I can now have some usefull apps with me at work.
This week I bought a brand new Leica Disto D510 laser distancemeter with bluetooth pairing to use on site with my ruged (!) smartphone but ... Oh Lord, it DOESN'T PAIR.
It uses Bluetooth Smart 4.0 which can only be used with Android 4.3 or higher!!!! BoloX. The Xcover 2 runs 4.1.2
So THE QUESTION:
1: Is there any way to go around this without upgrading? I don't want to push the poor device too far and since it was designed for 4.1.2 I would like ti leave it with that if possible.
2: If I have to upgrade.. how the heck do you do that? I ,ve spent more that three hours now trying to find the right ROM to flash and I can't!!!!

i dont believe there is any direct way around the bt issue.
your phone shipped with 4.1.2, seems odd that it never got any updates. did you go into settings near the bottom or in about phone, and check for updates?
there is at least one 4.4 rom for your phone that i found with a quick search, so there must be root and custom recovery some where, but its difficult for me to give accurate advice on how to proceed for a device i have no experience with.
ill just throw a couple google search links down here for you to look through if there are no software updates when you check.
if you decide to go the custom route, the first thing you want to do after installing twrp, and before installing a custom rom, is make a backup and save a copy to your pc for safe keeping. some times on these less popular devices it is hard to impossible to find the factory software, so you need a backup of it if anything goes wrong, or you dont like the rom.
