[Q] Help with Huawei G300 Ascend U8815 - Running VERY slowly - General Questions and Answers

I hope you can help. A long time ago I updated my wife's unlocked Vodafone UK G300 to Android 4.0.3 - I think it was the standard Huawei firmware and it has a Chinese splash screen. I do not think I rooted the phone though (since she had no need for those features). Settings tells me it is 4.0.3 baseband 2030 Kernel version 3.08.-perf-00245-gf3d97be Build number U8815V100R001C86B944 if that all helps?
Anyway, although the phone meets her needs in full it runs really slowly - I mean 1-2 second waits for most icons to respond. She is demanding a new phone which is reasonable but this seems like something I new firmware or clean up should sort. However, I have no idea where to start. She just needs a pretty generic firmware with nothing flash but that is responsive. Also I obviously don't want to lost all the apps and her personal data. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Although I have no idea what to do, I am confident in following rooting/jail breaking instructions and don't mind spending time on this. As a geek I seem to enjoy this kind of thing!
Thank you in advance.

[Q] T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant t959

Hello all and right away I'd like to start with this. Please don't think of me like I don't want to do no work at all as you'll understand later on I did a lot of research but I am simply too confused and stuck to continue with confidence that I know 100% all nuances and details so I can do whatever I want successfully so if possible don't flame my questions too if possible
A Week ago I got a T-Mobile t959 Vibrant as a gift from someone and because I know pretty much everything about iphone and Android system is same if not more "hackable" I decided to do the tricks myself, I didn't know how much available, and I really love to keep this short and don't bored you with my lack of Android knowledge. Let me begin with complete spec so I possibly can get correct solution to my problem.
Unit: Samsung Galaxy S
Carrier: T-Mobile
Model: SGH-T959
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: T959UVJI6
Kernel: 2.6.29
Build number: ECLAIR.UVJI6
Manuf. Date: 10.10.2010
I think this should be enough info about my unit but if you need something else plz let me know.
Here are things I am trying to do and already did.
1. Root.
I Successfully Rooted my phone by using a tutorials I found on internet. I have Superuser icon in my apps list.
2. Unlock
I could not unlock my phone. Only tool I found that I can actually understand and complete instructions is SGS Unlock tool. It could not help me on both root and un-root ways. So I'll need help with this.
3. Update to latest version.
from what I understand there are custom builds available like Darkys 9.2 and it's collection of a lot of things that pretty much all in one deal. I almost tried to install it myself but I could not find home button on my Vibrant to go to download mode so I gave up.
4. Rest of cool stuff.
I really don't know guys but I am sure there is soo much for android I don't know. Just like when people come to me with iphone I offer so much I bet it's same with this. General tips I guess.
Well that's it guys. If possible please just tell me in few short words on how to do this things if possible may be some YouTube video or something cause I am soo confused with everything and that "Hold Home button" in instructions was last drop when I said "I don't even have home button on my phone, what am I doing"
Please help, Thank you.
P.S.
1. Can I use ebay to order unlock code ?
2. Will phone remain unlock after I upgrade to 2.2 ?
3. Can I upgrade to 2.2 with Kies mini then root / unlock it ?
So many questions and thousands of answers .....
UPDATE !
I just purchased SGS Unlock pro and it looks like it worked ! I don't have sim to test with but I think I did it. From what I understand it's same people who run this site, Thank you !
I guess noone knows. It's all good. At list can you tell me if this will do this trick ?

[Q] Getting rid of the Stock Boot Screen

So I´ve got the Wi-fi version of the 7 inch gtab, GT-P1010, and it´s runnin Froyo version 2.2.2, but I´ve got root access.
The thing is I got it at a discounted price from a big Retailer down here(Peru), and they stuck their damned brand name on it every time it turns on or off, do you guys know of any way of getting rid of it? I´ve seen a couple other posts, but they mentioned it might vary if its a wi-fi version, I would think that since it doesn´t have a carrier concerned with hacking or w/e that it´d be easier, but I don´t know.
Any help would be greatly apreciated! and im not much of a modder, so I´d need an explanation through easy street lol.
thanks in advance!
since its rooted, try ROM Toolbox app ... you find it on the market
Experiment at your own risk. Should be pretty safe though.
This is my post which is closely related.

Is there a good costum ROM for a GoClever Tab A103?

Hello, how goes it?
I have a bit of a problem, and I think you guys can help me out ...
I recently got a GoClever Tab A103 from a friend of mine and I'm having quite a couple issues with it.
It's insanely slow and unresponsive, the apps are constantly crashing and it just keeps loosing the WiFi connection the whole time.
At this point it's pretty much useless for anything but reading PDF files, which works perfectly, to my amazement ...
So, since there are no signs of physical damage on the tablet, I'm guessing it needs a good formatting.
And since this is also not exactly a top of the line tablet, I was thinking of putting a clean, light costume ROM on it, to possibly speed things up a little.
Problem is, I can't find one anywhere ...
I'm not sure if the tablet is unlocked and rooted, but it is currently running Android 4.0.3, Ice Cream Sandwich.
So my question is, does anyone know of any good ROMs for this device, and where to find them?
And in case the tablet is not yet unlocked and rooted, any good guides on that front?
I unlocked and rooted my HTC Wildfire S last week, but I'm guessing the same process does not apply here? Different manufacturer, device ... ?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Have a lovely day!

[Completed] [Q] HTC One S - No radio, unmounted SD card

Hey,
I traded a bunch of old laptop parts and got this phone in exchange: an HTC One S. I think some call it a Ville. Nice looking phone.
Anyways, when I made the trade, I didn't notice that there was no icon in the status bar to show it was receiving any kind of cell signal. Really bright and sunny day washed the screen out. Jumped in my car, where it was a little darker, and discovered that the phone had a custom ROM (Or is it RUU?) installed. No biggie. Actually, it ran really smooth and kinda looked cool. It was a Cyanogenmod Mod, called Dark Jelly S edition. My thought was that I could use it as a backup phone, so I went to a local place to get an unlock to use on my network (it was, supposedly, on Fido. I'm on Koodo).
So, I tried to get the IMEI # off of it. No dice. Tried *#06# and I got a blank line. Went into settings, and settings crashed. When I got to the place I get my unlocking done, the guy at the desk knew that if you took off the back cover, there it was! Buddy got my code, but when I put my sim in, nothing. No way to enter the code.
Now, I'm no phone expert, but I knew something was terribly wrong. I have played around a little with smart phones, and even rooted one (well, partially at least), but I did some research, mostly here, and found that this appears to be a rather troublesome phone to mod. to make matters worse, I found out how to get into the bootloader and I fear I have done more harm than good. Not sure what I did, but then the SD card (which, of course, there really isn't one) became unmounted.
What I need, is a step by step process on what I can do, if anything, to make this phone work again. Now I know there are already threads like this on here, but they assume that the people they are helping have dev backgrounds. I do not. I get lost in all the jargon. I follow for a bit and then I get ROM and RUU all mixed up and have no idea what facepalm is or why you want S-off. It needs to be in plain english, or at least as plain a language as the terminology permits. I'm sure I'm not the only one on the planet suffering a similar fate and wondering what the heck to do.
Here is what I know:
Model - PJ40110
Kernel version - 3.0.71-gdde6c1e-dirty
[email protected] #1
Wed May 1 00:22:12 CEST 2013
CPU - ARMv& Processor rev 4 (v71)
Android version - 4.1.2
CyanogenMod version - 10-20130430-UNOFFICIAL-ville
Build version - Dark-Jelly-S-Edition -(Build-31)
Build date - Mi 1.Mai00:19:13 CEST 2013
Build # - cm_ville-userdebug 4.1.2 JZO54K eng.
xxmrhyde.20130501.001850 test-keys
Having been rooted and modded, I can access a lot, provided that doesn't happen to be one of the areas that crashes. If you need more info, tell me where to look and exactly what to look for. I'm really that much of a noob. All I really want is for it to work, whether that means taking it back to stock or another mod that actually works. Please help!
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The purpose of XDA Assist is to point you in the right direction. I'm going to give you some links which hopefully will solve your problem. You're going to have to do the homework. Not having an IMEI is going to be your biggest problem but the first thing to do is get the device back to stock.

Help choosing a Android phone and unforeseen consequences

Hi all, Thank you for this resource and I have found it of great help over time
First post, I may have registered before but am unsure.
I would appreciate help choosing a new android phone which I've been offered for Christmas, but first a bit of background.
(Forgive me if incorrect as I have given up on this phone for now)
Around September I was given a Motorola xt1039 that had died overnight and would only report itself to a pc as 'qhsusb_bulk' which
turns out to be a flashing mode and I have tried to resurrect it without success.
It appears it will only allow flashing when there are accompanying 'MBM-CI' files for the last OTA version of android that was installed before it bricked,
which I suspect is Motorola’s own bootloader that runs first.
Now, it seems that some of these files have leaked for previous versions of android but as of yet the ones for phones that have been updated to
Android 5.x Lollipop have not and because the phone has 'seen' newer it rejects the previous ones.
After this eye opener, my request is for advice on a phone, this being android,
that is within reason unbrickable.
It might take some time and effort but if things get corrupt it can usually be brought back to life with available tools and preferably
not rely on leaks and things that I would need to keep a constant vigil watching for if they are being revoked somehow or some other surprise,
and with the vastness of it all its something I would rather avoid.
It doesn't need to be a new phone just a fair bit faster than my Samsung S Advance
If possible in a price range of £100 - £150, network unlocked and rootable.
With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & 3G (I don't have coverage for 4G yet but if it supports that, great)
A nice little optional extra would be USB OTG.
This is probably a tall ask but thanks for any insight.
