I downloaded the G2 version from ota.telenav.com, and it installed and registered just fine, but it tells me that a new version is available when I try to run it which just takes me back to the same download link. I prefer TN to Sprint Nav because it is about half the size, and it has all of the features that Sprint removed from SN. I've attached the G1 and G2 files, so please let me know your results!

If you don't have Sprint Nav "Premium" then things like voice input and weather are available to you. Also (at least on the BlackBerry versions) TeleNav has more map views like 3D Follow Me when you are browsing the regular map. I have yet to check this out on the Android version despite them being the same version number.
tried the tn55-g2-1163 which showed version 5.5 when starting the app. it sent me to upgrade so I tried the tn55-android-g1 next and it still showed v5.5 but allowed me to access the app.
I see that in this telenav I now have the weather option where in the sprint navigator i didn't.
using Tel Nal on the HTC Hero..is it free???

Yes if you have Sprint Nav in your contract already (it is made by TeleNav). Just use the last 4 digits of your phone to register.

Heh... good question Biles. Sorry.. not a noob but not an expert either.
I have the Everything plan. Upgraded to Sprintnav 2.8.
It logs me in when I load it. It also shows I have a pin #

I believe you can go to the Telenav web site and get your pin#. I know that's how it used to work when I had my TP.
Just tried it. Still works. It will email and text the number to you.
Your PIN defaults to the last 4 digits of your phone number. You can view it in the SprintNav app if you have changed it.

When I was on Android 1.5 & used Sprint Nav, I had voice input & I don't have the Sprint Nav "Premium" pack...
I know what my Pin # is.
When I downloaded the apk to my Hero it asked me to register
Name
Last Name
Email Address
Didn't ask me for a pin # etc etc
I just went to the TElenav website and was able to "login" with my Sprint phone number and pin #.
Now how do I get it to "register" with the Telenav on my Hero?

Rooted with Fresh 1.1
I got the G1 version working perfectly. It's amazing that I can have the old Sprintnav and Telenav installed and and still use less space then the basic 2.8.

Sounds to me like you haven't enabled map sharing in TomTom on your phone. I had the same until I did that, and now it works fine.
i've upgraded to the latest version, and have enabled map share in both tomtom home and on the device. I still can not get map share to update.
I'm not sure then. The only difference between what I said and just enabling map corrections was that I reported one (I have been living in my current house for >4 years and TomTom still don't have it as a valid address. I have reported it several times through MapShare and it still doesn't appear as valid).
Ok, i will give that a try - my estate sill has roads that don't exist and although they have been reported many times, have still not been corrected. The 7.25 maps still don't seem that upto date for my area!
Have you / are you using tomtom traffic. I enabled the month trial, and it appears to update ok, but i never see any traffic information on the traffic map. The update symbol changes to green after an update, therefore indicating that it has downloaded data. On the liscence screen, it reports that traffic is enabled upto 22/10/08.
Thx it works fine. I had 65000 changes for my 6.8 Europacard.

mine is installed on the phones memory. only the map is on the storage card.
no problems here with TT Home 2.4
You need to make sure that tomtom app is installed within programs. Depending on what cab you have used, it may have installed the application under a strange (german i think) folder name.

the only thing thats different is that the 7.451 allows you to use Mapshare with Tomtom Home.

I basicly tried every setting in Tomtom and in Tomtom Home, and suddenly it all worked.
perhaps a stupid question, but did you allready try to mess with the settings in TTH/extra/mapshare prefferences..... and what does it say in the bottom right corner: After this update ...Mb??

Can anyone tell me what version of vvm is running on your stock TP2? I'm more curious to know if it still opens automatically, unlocking your phone in your pocket and ruining your afternoon, than I am really caring about the version number.

I do not have it set up (and have never used it before), so have no idea how it works. I manually opened it to see the version number...
Two phones both with same version mentioned.
Unless you are running the app in the background I dont see many ways to accidentally have it open in your pocket.
Haven't gotten a voicemail yet, but I will say that 1.1.7.7 on my Touch Pro would wake the phone up, and open the VVM software, exposing my start menu and everything else to random button presses. This worked regardless if the phone was locked or not.
Will report back when I have some VM's to test.

I haven't tried this (don't have VVM activated on my phone) - but I noticed in the BT settings that there was an option for the system audio to be routed through the headset. You might give this a shot. Although, then you'd have ALL system sounds routed through headset.
I did notice that a program called BTAudioOn that worked on my Touch Pro didn't work on the TP2 ... I'm assuming because the TP2 has the Widcomm stack instead of Microsoft ...

Yeah, the only way to make it work is to route all audio through the headset and manually open the audio channel. Not only is this a terrible solution but it will run your headset battery down very quickly
I've heard about vvm on the tp2 and will probably purchase one, once they are in stock again. In the mean time I installed this cab on my titan and was redirected to verizon's website to pay $2.99/month for the service. Is this what you guys are paying? Or is it just for those of us trying to steal it from another phone?

the elite team just released a hard SPL (unlocker) a couple days ago. With that you would be able to flash any number of custom ROMs already available.

i believe its under the services button on the verizon mobile page. i dont remember
if anyone has the url for the default homepage from the stock rom could you send it to me. start.vzw.com goes to a much stripped down version and im running a custom rom.

Lol. I've installed all "sprint experence" apps(NFL,Nascar,Sprint Nav,Sprint TV) and all but TV work on wifi...I can't test cell data due to gprs,I'll goto a 3g city soon and test Sprint TV(it requires a data connection on tower... >.<) Edit: Came just in time for tonights Monday Night Football....that's not luck....

I think Sprint TV requires a bit more than that (network login) but let's hope you're right and we can all have TV in our T-Mobile

That widget's been part of the chunghwa release for a while now and ported to some builds already. This dump is not odexed, so the widget can just be tossed into a regular hero rom and it should work (as long as it's framework version 2.73)

well im on xROM in i just download this file in i took out the apk files, n i can run the Sprint NFL,Nscar,Navigator,Core....the Sprint TV is not working tho..

since the TV app requires the mobile connection (even makes you turn the wifi off!!), it's very likely that Sprint has their tv service blocked at a low network level with only certain source address ranges whitelisted
in other words, a workaround is probably pretty darn tough
maybe someone can work some iptables magic..?
Ya we gotta see if we can find a work around for the tv. The Sprint navigation also works.
well i gave the sprint widgets a shot on Cyanogen 4.1.999 Android 1.6 and at least the NFL MOBILE LIVE widget works... used a wifi connection, but installed via astro and it is like sports center in that btich... its greaT!!
scrolling marque of scores, living sprint voting polls, highlights per game, etc...
if you havent, enjoy, looks like these new dumps bring extra greatness to the android system!
Hay this is only my 2 cents worth cus I'm not A developer but I had both sprint tv(on my rasor no less) and 'MobTV' on my palm TX(via wifi). I understood that sprintTV was 'MobiTV'. however I just went to there web site and they don't list t-mobile or android as a sign up option.
again this is only what I've observed ( I would like to get TV on my G1, its one thing I miss from sprint but sprint didn't get android in time for me)

This is just an FYI of what I've come across. I have the HTC Magic configured on the ATT US hsdpa network. I ran a port scan and found out AT&T is still not complying with what i thought was settled. AT&T blocks port 5060 which is the port that the SIP protocol functions. So, when you try to use skype, just like on the iphone, it will only work over wifi only and not over the network...but not because of the skype program for android, but because of att blocking the port....
if anyone has any information or comments please reply....I'd like to know more as well

check the data limits on the current sims.. It's 90 days free for a total of 150mb so not too great.

I just spent ages creating an apk which automatically stuck in the settings for the 3 network, then upon searching the forum again i found your little gem of a post =/. think i should have searched harder!!
Creating an APK with different country settings isnt that difficult, you need to find the auto-signer tool, and modify the startup properties in /res/raw. although upon further investigation this ver of iskoot doesnt have those files so the settings must be stored elsewhere. so you would definately need the plain (non three) version of the iskoot apk.

Unfortunately not. As the official post says, this works for 3UK customers only.

I also installed the hacked APK that you're referring to. I just checked it on my and it's still working like usual. Perhaps you set it to auto-update in the Market and it got overwritten by an unhacked install? That's what happened to me, and I had to uninstall and reinstall with the hacked APK.
I could have sworn that there was a thread somewhere in these N1 forums which was all about the hacked Skype 3G APK. If you've already run a search, please ignore. If not though, I'd suggest you take a crack at the search function whenever you're in doubt.

I'm confused. How come Skype won't work over 3G for you? It works perfectly fine for me, downloaded straight from the market. I've had hours of conversations on it.
Skype has a contract with Verizon in the States to only do 3G Skype with them. It's restricted to Wifi only on all other carriers.
Oh that must really suck. And here I thought the carriers in Canada sucked. At least I get Skype over 3G here. Canada only mostly sucks now.

I had the same problem today... I found out my problem was my new keyboard (Swiftkey) automatically added an additional space after my name. Following this correction, I placed a call over 3G without issue. Maybe that could be your issue too.

I have installed the Hacked 3g version on my verizon galaxy tab and no matter what I do, my wife and I can not talk to each other, the connection seems laggy and our voices cut in and out. MY wife uses a mytouch on tmobile till we get the money to get her a verizon upgrade.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
