Its this posible make the Sleep Botton work like the iphone botton? For end calls and lock the screen? If exist any app for this please lets me know.
this would be amazing. one of the only things I miss about my old iPhone.
its funny that i saw this. for the longest time i have been pressing the power button to end a call, obviously it doesnt work, but i still do it from habit from my iphone. i end up having to go in there and end it myself, kinda lame. it shouldnt be too hard i dont think.
I actually hate how im on the phone with my girlfriend and the screen goes on and off various times while im talking. And I sometimes find myself pressing buttons with my cheeck. It really sucks and I wish there was an app to lock it completely while im talking. Its really annoying. Anyone else experience this???
I think I have the same issues. I end up putting people on "hold" with my cheek bone, haha.

Exactly, that always happens. Or ill be talking and people be like " Hello, Hello" -- "im here" only to realize that I muted myself. It is very annoying....
Froyo has this feature to end calls with the power button under the accessibility tab.

so for the last few days ive been getting this weird problem, that when i press the call button to enter the dialer, instead of going to the dialer, if for example im on the program tab in tf3d, it will go to the settings tab, thus emulating a left click... it would be on or off this prob for a while, but now it seems every time i press the call button, it goes left. this is the same for the home button aswell goin left, also the end button and back button going right... up and down work fine, but im confused why this problem has arisen....
*as i was typing this, i jus tried again, and now i cant even go left or right, so the only buttons that are working are up, down and select...*
Any insight, maybe i need to remap them, maybe the hardware buttons are screwed... imma try a hard reset and let you know the results, any help is appreciated.
forgot to mention, im on NRGs latest phoenix rom....
I know normally that those buttons are pretty ridiculous. I mean trying to press left or right is pretty much like your praying that you get it since its almost 50/50 that youll hit the call or end buttons. I especially hate this when your in a program trying to go right and you end it by accident, but thats now im way off topic . Anyway, maybe it is possible that your buttons have become slightly misaligned, since thats all it would take for them to get screwed up. Although I have also experienced a similar problem to yours a while back, but it eventually ended. It COULD have something to do with the rom, but I find it highly unlikely, since theres tons of people using that rom. Do the buttons not register, or do they actually not click down? I was confused on this in your post.

thanks for you reply they click down, but do not register correctly, for exmaple, if i was to press the call button, it will click, but register it as a left click...
after peforming a hard reset, and not installin anything else on the rom, i was glad to find it was all working again, prompting me to believe it was something i installed, but after 10 minutes, the erratic behaviour started again.... strange!!! dishearted, i went to sleep last night and when i awoke this morning, its all good in the hood! the buttons are fine! but for it 2 happen without installing anything, im guessing i might have had a bad flash or something...

Possibly, but by the way your describing it, it sounds like very erratic behavior and may have something to do with the actual hardware. If it continues I would bring it in to your carrier and see if you can get it replaced or fixed.
I had this same problem. Had to get it replaced and the replacement works pretty much as well as when I first got my original FUZE. First replacement was complete crap (buttons were horrible, center button didn't click) but my second replacement is a bit better. You can see it wasn't put together as well as a new one though, the keyboard is a TINY bit to the left so you can see the backlight coming out from the right and the volume up button kind of sucks. Disappointed in these refurbs.
well its been behaving itself today... so touch wood it continues! i read somewhere that somebody was experiencing something similar and it just went away after a while...
we'll see!
my spacebar button always stuck. very hard to press....any solution?
Damn. My FUZE's DPAD is starting to act up again! My current FUZE is a refurbished replacement for my original which had this same issue. Putting the phone to sleep and turning it back on fixes the issue for a minute or so, and then it starts again. It can go a couple days without doing this and it starts again. I think this is how my first one started, only sometimes acting up but eventually it did it all the time.
Looks like it might be time to call for another replacement! I hope my 3rd replacement FUZE (first replacement's DPAD was DOA) will last until the Touch Pro 2. This capacitive surface was such a huge mistake for HTC. But instead of adding normal buttons or a trackball, they completely remove the DPAD from the Touch Pro 2 . At least there is no cheap capacitive surface that will break.
For me, both FUZEs started acting up after 4 months of having them. I am surprised barely anyone else is having this issue as I have had it twice now.
this is a request for anyone that has the newer 2.2 beta, that seems to not have any lag in the lockscreen wake up. can you PLEASE point the good people on this forum, that are working on the existing released beta, to howto fix this issue, maybe by pointing of the differences between those 2 versions (lockscreen lag only)
THANK YOU
i dont think the problem is the lockscreen. I think the problem is the screen is unresponsive after it wakes up.. For instance, if im using the phone and put it to my ear, the screen goes off. Now if i have to punch in some numbers or even just put it on speakerphone or something, There is a few second delay from when i take it off my ear to when i can actually press the button. so i think it has something to do with the screen off as opposed to the lock screen.
ok, thanks for pointing this too.
I'm surprised not as many people are bothered by this, and yes it is from the screen turning off and not the lock screen in particular.
It is insanity when calling someone and reaching their voicemail. Then pressing the end call button as rapidly as possible before you hear the fateful *beep*. Only to be that guy that leaves a .02 second long message of dead air.

Yah i agree. I'm surprised this doesn't bother more people.. I hear people saying there's is running flawlessly. And although it runs very well for a beta, the screen issue is a deal breaker for me. I really want to use froyo.

I searched but couldn't find anything. Every time I get a phone call and pull my phone out of my pocket, I think I am sliding the slide up and ignoring the call. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

I have this problem too. What I think happens is that the phone can detect my legs through my pocket. My phone is always facing down in my poclet so when I pull it out the upwards motion against my leg rejects the call. I don't like to face my screen on the outside because I'm always bumping into things with my phone in my pocket. Plus it just feels weird the other way.
I determined the exact same thing. I have the exact same reason you do to. I'm hyper nazi with my phone screen.

You could turn your phone so the bottom of the phone is facing your feet so you can pick up the calls when you pull it out of your pocket. LoL
Yeah that's exactly what I have decided is happening. I tried putting it in upside down, but then I have to flip it and plus I forget to put it in that way. I was looking for a setting like "turn screen on when receiveing a call" but I could not find anything close to it. I don't know what to do about it, but it is super annoying.

There's WidgetLocker in the market. Allows you to change the lock screen. It replaces the stock lock screen. I tried it, but not loving it. Its customizable also.
Heres a video review

you can change it to the AOSP lockscreen but then your alarm clock won't work, so you will have to get a new one from market (granted this is only if your rooted).
Maybe I'm just a little dumb and uncoordinated and a good amount crotchety (ok, the use of the word "maybe" there is probably not needed), but I find it a bit of a pain in the ass to hit the power button to wake this phone up or put it to sleep. the button is on the top/back of the phone, and the way that it's angled and flush, I don't know, I just seem to have a hard time hitting it without really focusing on what I'm doing. I also usually end up hitting the volume buttons with the way I grab the phone to press the power button, and it's damn near impossible to do with the phone just lying flat on a surface.
I'm probably a little spoiled, coming from a Samsung Moment, which had Talk and End buttons on the front, and the End button served as the power button. It was so easy with a single thumb to wake the phone up, unlock the screen, do whatever, and put it back to sleep.
Unfortunately, the Shift is pretty limited when it comes to hard buttons. But I wondered, is it in any way possible to cause maybe a long press on the volume to wake/sleep the phone? I think that would solve most of my annoyances.

Regarding the power button, you'll get used to it.
Regarding the volume question, yes this is possible with Cyanogenmod 7. You need to be rooted to run Cyanogenmod 7.

If you want you can d/l 2 apps from market that might make things a little smoother for you.
One is quickboot, 4 options reboot, recovery, bootloader, and power off. Secondly one called screen off puts a button on your home screen tap it and your phone goes to sleep.

The Keyboard definitely feels different from the Moment. I can't say for sure which I like better. I did like having the dedicated number row on the moment. Now, I struggle to find the parentheses or asterisk. I also liked the sliding mechanism on the Moment much better. It had that satisfying snap into position that it did. I always feel like the Shift is a little stubborn about sliding.
I came from a spring loaded samsung also, was a lil hesitant at first too. Tell you what tho, I have made an artform out of opening this phones keyboard. Feels real fluid, like a natural extension. Now I try opening a spring assist device like the wifes epic & I damn near drop it due to the extra force to get the mechanism moving combined w/ the slick cover. Then when it finally pops, it damn near jumps outta my hand... Ok, I have dropped it a few times, not tellin her that tho.
Main point: I agree, "once you get used to it", you really appreciate the thought that went into the simplistic design; buttons to the board.

Hi guys,
I have no idea why during calls sometimes the touchscreen activates itself which results in pressing mute or hold by accident... this is really annoying, i have to keep the phone far from my ear to avoid this. Anyone knows how to stop this?
Thanks!
My Wife has the same problem... Anyone have any idea? or how to just kill the mute and hold buttons in the dialer or render them inoperable?
Solution: I used Cheekey Hang Up Gard. This is free and works fine for me. It locks the screen during a call unless you press the back-button.
The problem with hitting keys by mistake happens to all the people who do not press the phone so close to the ear. In this case screen might activate so that you can hit some button with your ear.
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! That is EXACTLY the type of solution I was looking for, both elegant, simple, AND free. I searched for a solution before posting, but apparently my android and google-fu is not as advanced as yours. I bow before a greater power (bow).
Thank you!
Thanks works like a charm

Oh... I fear there won't be any software solution for that problem... If you are fast enough you could try cleaning it with distilled water and only use the phone again when it is 100% dried. However water might also come to some places where it is hard to get it gone again.

well it worked partially for a while... pity it was a nice phone!
The problem happens when you tilt the phone past a certain degree. I think it may be the flip for speaker mode. I'm going to shut it off and see if it happens anymore.
