Hello XDA community. I am successfully using the wm6.1 voip solution. I have one problem that I'd need to solve. I need a tool to configure wm voip service to use/have a backup SIP server or the ability to quickly switch between SIP servers.
Right now I am using 2 SIP servers:
1. Asterisk server I have at home and use only to call my home pc and my second pda. I connect to them through hamachi vpn.
2. My gsm provider SIP server. Gives me free calls to its own GSM network and cheap calls to other networks.
I am using "Sip Config Tool 2.0.1" and "Setup Voip v0.3" but updating settings like this takes me some time cos of the amount of info I have to fill in for my provider voip account.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Has anyone setup POP3 email receiving/sending using their cell phone line (instead of GPRS) and connecting to their dial-up service from the SX56?
I have tried several times on the WM2003, but couldn't get it to work! Is this doable?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
Not sure, but I think AT&T might not let you use dialup for data calls (called "CSD"). Are you able to surf the Internet on your SX56 via dial-up?
Just checked - my cell carrier is T-Mobile and the ISP I dialed into is myFreeI.
Worked fine for me both for surfing and Inbox email. T-Mobile permits CSD data connections and tells you how to set up a CSD connection in the user manual. Again, AT&T may not support doing this.
Works fine for me
Can anyone send me the play-by-play directions to set this up? Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am setting this up in Connections, with my dial up number, user id, password etc. When I dial, its dialing but NOT negotiating/handshaking and establishing a connection. The number I am dialing to is a valid number. I use Earthlink for my POP3/SMTP.
Thanks,
Dave
Is AT&T your cell carrier? I'm more sure now that it won't work over AT&T - they need to activate CSD (but I think the catch is that they won't).

POP3/SMTP on [email protected] using ATT
Hi Henry:
Yes I am using AT&T. Thanks for the link to the thread on this discussion. After reading it, I am now convinced AT&T has blocked this service. There is an argument to be made for sharing the same bandwith with data as well as voice. However, then we the consumers are left with the GPRS stick and exhorbitant pricing!
I am hoping someone will come up with cooking the ATT ROM which will allow ISP direct dial up from cell phones using WM2003 Connections and still maintaining ATT cell phone services.
Thanks,
Dave
O2 UK POP3 settings & GSM data type
Have any O2 UK customers got POP3 to work when using GSM data type connection as opposed to GPRS?
I've tried a few times but to no avail. Here are the settings I am using:
Email address - "username"@o2.co.uk
Account type - POP3
Name - POP3
Incoming mail - mail.o2.co.uk
Outgoing mail - smtp.o2.co.uk
Domain - www.o2.co.uk
Are there any problems with these settings?
Thanks
I use my standard settings, username [email protected] Password: ????. pop3: pop3.blueyonder.co.uk. SMTP: smtp.blueyonder.co.uk. Works fine over gsm. I am Payandgo customer.
Hi,
Could you please help me to find out best SIP software for HD2. I got PortSIP for my HTC HD2. It;s working very well on wifi connection. But not working at all on t-mobile UK 3g network. I get registration failed error. I just realised that PortSIP doesn't initiate the data connection at all. SO getting same message even though not connected to internet. My voip provider is actionvoip.
Any suggestions....
yes portsip does not initiate the 3G/data connection. But there is a work around. Open a web browser or any application that uses data and after connection has been established start portsip then it registers successfully.
I use Actionvoip on 3G without any problems.

Hi,
I tried same, But no success. On which network you are.. I am on t-mobile UK and i found following link (https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/combi/) in which thay have mentioned that
<b>
"you can't use your phone as a modem or use internet Plus for peer to peer file sharing, or making internet phone calls. *[Internet] Plus comes with a fair use policy of 3GB a month."</b>
So I am wondering wheather T-mobile is blocking my access to use any SIP software. Although i can use skype mobile on t-mobile.

I am on softbank in Japan
Skype is no SIP-software.
VoIP might also be blocked by your VoIP-provider. I use VoIP for my company and we had the problem that we could only sign in from the provider's own network. They didn't allow external connections to their VoIP-servers.
After we had some discussions on the matter we received a workaround, so we can use VoIP from anywhere in the world and customers can call us on the same number, where-ever we are
don't worry
try FRING for windows mobile.. its supported SIP .. WORK PERFECT
NIMBUZZ
Try nimbuzz messenger.
Maybe this one WVGA VoIP software with earpiece, HTC favorites import, dtmf support
Hey:
Is it possible to use SIP to get calls on the Sensation(GSM unbranded) ?
On the Nexus S there is a option under Call Settings -> Internet Call settings.
Thanks
D
Same option is available in the Sensation, but it is limited to WiFi connection.
You can use Sipgate and any other VoIP provider also on 3G by downloading a SIP application. I use CSipSimple for Sipgate UK and others.
Have anyone tried to use build-in SIP client aka Internet calling? In my case it works, but without any sound. It doesn't matter if it's over WiFi or mobile network, so it's not network configuration. And yes, I've tried both UDP and TCP options. Even more, build-in SIP on Samsung on the same network, with the same SIP provider and with the same Android 4.4.2 works perfectly. Third-party clients are working also, but it's not convenient.
Any thoughts?
Hi Myxolove
I was also keen on using the internal SIP client after I purchased the phone, it did not work same problems, i am on MT7-TL09
where did you get TL10 ? it is only released TL09 on the offical webpage., i just checked.
Which Solution did you use?
I have a SIP Phone number for one free provider called sipgate and one or two SIP callout accounts with betamax, which i pay
which would be a good client for me? i really want to use internet calling again its sooooo cheap
thanks and best regards, ant0n
Yes. I also have same issue with my Huawei Ascend Mate7. I contacted my VOIP provider (peenytel) , the asked me to configure following
("Kindly go to settings on your phone and go to audio configurations and select
codec of G711Alaw or G711Ulaw and reboot your phone and make a test call.")
but I can't find this feture with my SIP seeting. I guess that it is the reason for what we are experience.
First Failed Attempt: A softphone (software client)
After mutiple softphone application tries they all gave me the same problem:
Each one would require me to open an account on the app, which I want to avoid to do as there are costs.
Another dissapointment is that a phone number is required and I do not have a carrier.
Second Failed Attempt: Internet telephone settings wizard not found (error message)
To make an internet call a valid SIM card must be inserted and the phone connected to a WLAN this gave me a problem as:
I do not have a carrier plan and intend on using the phone without one.
I followed the steps to attempt to activate the internet call with a WLAN connection and without a SIM, but I was blocked by this error message "Internet telephone settings wizard not found".
Knowing only the basics of SIP and VOIP, is there a way to make calls via the internet without a carrier(sim) account?
VoIP uses Wi-Fi connection and not phone's radio connection .
Basically a VoIP phone is necessary to connect to a VoIP service provider.
The Best Mobile VoIP Service Providers of 2023
RingCentral: Best overall
Grasshopper: Best for entrepreneurs
Nextiva: Best for built-in productivity tools
8×8: Best for global businesses
Google Voice: Best for affordability
BTW: VoIP apps for Android are no longer to be found on Google Playstore due to Google's Playstore Policy.
But you can make use of Google Voice what is popular among solopreneurs and small teams because it’s free for personal use, has a simple interface, and is a Google product.
Sure, it’s an excellent free service. But it’s not intended for any business purposes.
