Hi,
Could you please help me to find out best SIP software for HD2. I got PortSIP for my HTC HD2. It;s working very well on wifi connection. But not working at all on t-mobile UK 3g network. I get registration failed error. I just realised that PortSIP doesn't initiate the data connection at all. SO getting same message even though not connected to internet. My voip provider is actionvoip.
Any suggestions....
yes portsip does not initiate the 3G/data connection. But there is a work around. Open a web browser or any application that uses data and after connection has been established start portsip then it registers successfully.
I use Actionvoip on 3G without any problems.

Hi,
I tried same, But no success. On which network you are.. I am on t-mobile UK and i found following link (https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/combi/) in which thay have mentioned that
<b>
"you can't use your phone as a modem or use internet Plus for peer to peer file sharing, or making internet phone calls. *[Internet] Plus comes with a fair use policy of 3GB a month."</b>
So I am wondering wheather T-mobile is blocking my access to use any SIP software. Although i can use skype mobile on t-mobile.

I am on softbank in Japan
Skype is no SIP-software.
VoIP might also be blocked by your VoIP-provider. I use VoIP for my company and we had the problem that we could only sign in from the provider's own network. They didn't allow external connections to their VoIP-servers.
After we had some discussions on the matter we received a workaround, so we can use VoIP from anywhere in the world and customers can call us on the same number, where-ever we are
don't worry
try FRING for windows mobile.. its supported SIP .. WORK PERFECT
NIMBUZZ
Try nimbuzz messenger.
Maybe this one WVGA VoIP software with earpiece, HTC favorites import, dtmf support

Hi.
Im getting my Blue Angel (XDA IIi) with my next paycheque. But i really want IM with GPRS. I'm thinking about going dual Sim with a T-mobile card just for the webnwalk plan, because O2 charge stupid prices for WAP (£3 per mb)
But i realised you can't use IM with most GPRS providers because the ports are blocked to stop other forms of non profit making communication. So what about setting up your home pc as a terminal service server, and then using termincal service client to access it and use MSN from there.
I e-mailed T-mobile asking if termincal service client was allowed and here was the (relevent part of) the response:
"Using our webnwalk priceplans you would be able to use the terminal service client on your phone in order to access other pcs. The GPRS usage would come out of your allowance any time that you used this service."
Not having my XDA IIi, i don't know if this would work, so could someone test it please.
is this a good idea or should i have stuff thrown at me for even thinking it?
Thanks.
Erm.......... you can use IM on T-Mobile GPRS... I do most days.
Either the supplied Messenger ir Agile Messenger.. works a treat.
I moved from O2 to T-Mobile cos they had no decent GPRS uage plans.. now I get unlimited.... it's great....
Charlie Grillo
another part of that e-mail:
"In terms of MSN messenger, this would not be allowed as part of the terms and conditions of the priceplan. These state that certain things such as VOIP, Messaging over internet and Internet Streaming are not allowed."
Are you on contract by any chance?
TS
I am not familiar with T-Mobiles Terms / fair usage policy, but it seems strage you can use terminal services and not msn messenger - I would have this checked out!
I know that TS works perfectly on the XDA 2 and above, if that helps.
IM on GPRS
Yes, I'm on contract - not PAYG.
I read T-Mobile's T's & C's, but messaging isn't mentioned.. it contains this guff..
To ensure a high quality of service for all our customers, they are not to be used for other activities such as (but not limited to): modem access for computers, internet based video/audio streaming services, peer to peer file sharing, internet based video download and internet based telephony.
hmm.. modem access - a bit restrictive, but as I can't get the damn thing to connect and dial when used as a modem any more it's not a problem (I wonder if they crippled this in their last ROM upgrade as it worked perfectly before...)
bandwitdth
in theory this is possible, but theres no chance of running terminal services/remote desktop from the blueangel over gprs...
the connection is not quick enough.
over wifi its fine but not gprs.
good point
I have done it with wi-fi and 3G - if you are in a 3G area (ha!) you should be OK.
Hi,
I am almost sure that all Windows Mobile devices are softwarly unable to use skype properly...I have a Kaiser, which have a UMTS HSDA connection. Think about the following tests I have done.
Everyone is able to make skype call if the Pda is connected through wifi, so the device has no cpu problem using the skype codec, it can handle it.
If you try to make a skype call using the UMTS and even HSDPA connection, the service is not usbale (you hear one word on three!!) So the first thing you think is: the HSDPA data connection is not enough for skype, but, here is the point: if you use your pda as modem with your Pc, you can use skype with no problem on your Pc, using the same data connection as before, even if you make a video call! No delay for sound...so you will think: the problem could be that the cpu radio (if there is one, I am not so expert on Pda hardware) is not so powerful to handle all the data traffic that skype generates, maybe when we use them as modem is not the Pda to manage the traffic (I do not know), but, if you try to download a file from the web using pocket IE or Opera mobile, you will se that our wonderful Pda download it at the same speed you will download the same file from the Pc using the Pda as modem...the same speed and the same time spent for download...it means that the Pda has absolutely no problem using its data connection at its 100% of power.
Thinking about all of this, do not you think that our devices are "blocked" using skype through UMTS connetcion? I also thought, maybe the problem is that the skype client itself is buggy, but it works so well using wifi!
What do you think about that?
Hey Alex,
haven't tried Skype over UMTS/HSDPA, but I know that some carriers block SIP(skype and co) and IM(msn,icq,aim,y!..) over the data connection!
Greetings

I know that, but in that case it does not work at all. If the carriers does not block SIP it should work well, it is impossible that I hear one word on three, or they block it or they allow it ...try to make some test if your carriers allow SIP, I am really thinking that tere is a software block.
Okay, tested it and it worked fine for me over 2mins T-Mobile Germany (x-tra prepay)! Have atm just EDGE, but will test it if I have UMTS!
Maybe the carrier is to "slow" to block the skype call in the moment you connect.. and you have a little delay (the two/three words).. and then the carrier cuts the call?

No, I can go on for minutes and minutes, it is not a carriers fault. It is interesting knowing that calling are fine for you in EDGE, it proves that the problem is only on my Kaiser, or on UMTS, or my carrier is joking with us in Italy (H3G) creating this holes on calling. Your test show that there is not any kind of software block by MS. There is someone else that can make other test with different devices, data connection and carriers?

Thanks, I thought it was an hacking matter.
Skype works and has worked for over a year now for me on whaatever signal I feed it. UMTS, HSDPA, EDGE, WiFi, ActiveSync, they all work for me. FWIW, I have a Touch Cruise and I'm on ATT's network in the US.

So it seems that the problem is my own Kaiser or my carrier...anyone else has other expirience with different devices and carriers?
is it possible that you have other programs running in the background and your phone is out of memory?

absolutely not, I made tests even after flashing new rom without installing anything.
Today I made a test after month, I tried to use skype over wifi and...it does not work as when I am under UMTS, is my Kaiser broken??? I mean, I hear one word on three, and under wifi it is not a data speed problem...
Hey,
I have got my hands on a BlackBerry Curve 8320 on the T-mobile network. I was wondering how it would be possible for me to use the instant message feature using the wifi option? I was a previous owner of a T-mobile featured MDA as soon as I was linked to any wireless router I had instant access to any of the instant messengers available. Your ingenius help would be greatly appreciated.....
Thanx,
Kuntars
if you have any messenger apps for blackberry you can use them using wifi.. nothing special about that
Kuntars in need of help
I have all the preloded messenger apps like Yahoo, Aim, Msn, Icq etc. the problem is when I try to sign in the program responds "service not enabled for this handheld" When I called my T-mobile my service provider they as usual try to sell me something by telling me that the only way that I could gain access is by purchasing their data plan for $24.99 monthly charge, the reason I feel that their claim is absured is simply cause I had it running on the MDA as i had explained previously.... Is there perhaps another application I must download, or maybe program the phone in some way???
Unless Blackberry can't use Wifi to connect to the internet by default (which is obviously impossible since blackberry is all about internet), they're lying, and you should be able to connect. it might be that your Messenger application (dunno which one it is for BB) can't use Wifi connection (tho this is unprobable as well)
AFAIK, BlackBerry is all about using data plans, whatever they are called.
But, that can vary from provider to provider regarding pricing/charging.
If you are able to surf on internet trough WiFi on that BB device (sorry, I'm using BB Pearl 8100 which has no WiFi, so can't check), you might want to try BeeJiveIM software. It ain't freeware, but there should be trial version.
You also might want to raise your question in Curve section of PinStack forums.
I have an Android mobile phone with unlimited data and i was able to setup a VOIP on my phone using a free provider using a program such as CSipSimple or Sipdroid and it worked.
I noticed some places it said that some providers don't allow VOIP though the 3g network so I called bell and asked them if I was allowed to do it, they passed me around for a bit and did not really give me a proper answer.
Does anyone know if they allow, disallow or just dislike VOIP.
Have anyone tried to use build-in SIP client aka Internet calling? In my case it works, but without any sound. It doesn't matter if it's over WiFi or mobile network, so it's not network configuration. And yes, I've tried both UDP and TCP options. Even more, build-in SIP on Samsung on the same network, with the same SIP provider and with the same Android 4.4.2 works perfectly. Third-party clients are working also, but it's not convenient.
Any thoughts?
Hi Myxolove
I was also keen on using the internal SIP client after I purchased the phone, it did not work same problems, i am on MT7-TL09
where did you get TL10 ? it is only released TL09 on the offical webpage., i just checked.
Which Solution did you use?
I have a SIP Phone number for one free provider called sipgate and one or two SIP callout accounts with betamax, which i pay
which would be a good client for me? i really want to use internet calling again its sooooo cheap
thanks and best regards, ant0n
Yes. I also have same issue with my Huawei Ascend Mate7. I contacted my VOIP provider (peenytel) , the asked me to configure following
("Kindly go to settings on your phone and go to audio configurations and select
codec of G711Alaw or G711Ulaw and reboot your phone and make a test call.")
but I can't find this feture with my SIP seeting. I guess that it is the reason for what we are experience.
