I have an Elfin, and it is very slow. So I came to this forum thinking flashing the ROM would fix it! I flashed |ROM|WWE|Jan27'10|ELF SX WM6.1 21054|WM6.5 21888|, and only to find out the phone still lags!
Anyone knows how this can be fixed or I'm just stuck with it since I got an HTC touch?
I would say the second choice.. you probably have an Elf with 64 MB of RAM so u can't expect much speed outta that :S
I actually have a 256MB/128MB version...
The phone has absolutely nothing on it except for the OS... and no external memory card installed.
that's kinda weird.. you have an Elfin and it's lagging?? i use an Elf with WM 6.5 and it's OK with only 64 MB of RAM.. I don't really know what to tell you :S
I have an ELFin too, and runs fine, and I'm tricked out even with ONYX 6!
I do notice some 3rd Party apps, cause the phone to boot slow.
Now...if you want a fast phone, just to Titanium.
Paul
try flashing onix 4, and overcock your omap. im using omap clock keep.
sorry, I'm kinda n00b to this phone. Basically, it lags when I switch to the dialpad and is really slow when i tried to dial phone #s.
Some questions:
>Now...if you want a fast phone, just to Titanium.
How do I 'titanium'?
>try flashing onix 4, and overcock your omap. im using omap clock keep.
Can you link me pls?
Thanks for all the replies!
to OP: try different ROMs to see which one suits u best.
PS: this thread has nothing to do with ROM development, so it will be closed.

hi all, im about to buy Universal on sat and im not sure what wm6 rom to use, ask me a question about BA roms and i cud tel u the answer but uni?????, wheres that leaked wm6 rom at, or should i use one of the others.. thanks for any help... oh almost 4got do the others hav internet callling like that leaked one...
Hi,
There are 3 WM6 ROMs for the Universal floating around here, namely:
1st: Helmi's ROM version 1.1 (the ORIGINAL ROM where all the others originated). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291875
2nd: JWright's ROM version 2.01.08 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293902
3rd: PDAViet's ROM version 2.00.07 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294097
To be honest ALL are very good and highly stable. To save you all the reading, just try each one and soft reset immediately without installing any application. WHY? Because after a soft reset, you will most likely experience FREEZING that can only be cured by 3-4 soft resets. Each ROM had different results on the Universal. Others claim HELMI's ROM is the best and does not have the FREEZING effect after a soft reset, while others claim JWright's, and some PDAViet's ROM. If you are going to read ALL 3 threads, they all say that they experienced FREEZING after a soft reset. But, it is up to the user to pick which one is the most stable. So, to get you going, just try them one by one and soft reset, whoever does not FREEZE after the first soft reset, STICK TO THAT ROM, for most likely that is the most stable for your UNIVERSAL.
a very very good reply. i haven't tried any other roms other than jwrights .08
rom.
it's good, fast... people are saying less battery with wm6, but i wasn't on wm5 long enough to test that. i hated wm5.
i know jwright has two really good apps. usb hdd, if you copy a lot of song or anime off and on the mobile, usbhdd makes the universal look like flashdrive to your computer.
also there's task manager which closes programs when you press x instead of minimizing them.
when i soft reset i have 26 megs free program memory.
Big Thanks
thanks a lot thts made it so much easier... and again thanks 4 ur time, its people like u tht make ths place so good.. STAR
try 2.01.08 PV You'll be happy with this
I am using JWright's ROM and seems very stable. I love the flash drive program. the only bugs I have encountered are 1. the freezing after reset (every rom has this I am sure) 2. now and than I loose connection to mt bt headset and have to turn on/off to re connect. The rom is very quick and so far I have no reason to switch. Good luck and keep us posted on the rom you chose and why.
DarkForce ROM is the BEST for me!
I have used all ROM versions.....
Helmi's ROM is OK, but DarkForce is PERFECT...

My advice! don't use any. stick with your service provider ROM. This is my experience, YMMV. Unless of course you like to play with it and not use your phone seriously.
That's what I do but i always go back to my ISP ROM. It is stable, no hangs, no freezing and maximum amount of RAM. No useless third party aplictions, and everything just works as you would expect.
It is OK to use these ROMS for experimentation. any missing features, can be easily puchased or downloaded for free; such as html in emails (qmail), PIE a little better in ROM 6 but not much. The usb stuff is useful too but you can do the same with activesync (i.e. transfer files etc..).
that's my 2 cents...

I know its the HD touchflo and its on the X1 but damn this runs fast. Is it the device thats doing this or the manila HD build? I know I have seen someone working on a port of HD Manila to run on VGA but the current built is very buggy and there has been very little updates on a more stable version. Out of the box, the manila runs pretty good on the fuze but as soon as you ad in some tweaks such as the original touch pro theme, it slows down big time. I have applied every tweak I know to improve touchflo 3d performance but its still not fast enough.
here the musicplayer starts in 3 seconds! and the pictures in 1 second and i have more than 2 gb of music
Mine seems to run that fast. What ROM are you using?
is the only way to get the touch HD touchflo on the raphael by flashing another rom?
If you flash the roms, will you lose all the software that comes with the phone? Such as pocket office? That's my only concern--if I flash ROMs, I want to be able to keep Pocket Word and Excel and what not.
Thanks.
99% of ROMs keep Office inside with only extreme "Light" ROMs removing it(the description will state if it doesn't). The things that will be missing on a cooked ROM is the hundreds of useless apps and demos designed by your provider to part you from your cash. Without them, your phone will run a lot lighter and faster.
I'd suggest flash Hard SPL and then go try every ROM you like the look of! Every single one will be faster than the factory one.
mine seems as fast, or faster (ok, not "faster")
I'm using the RRE ROM, and it's the fastest I've used. The rotation is near instant on it.
why does the sprint rom run better then romeos on the fuze? it has almost 130 mbs free for program
Mine runs just as fast as in the video. I have customized manila, have tons of apps installed, etc. I am using romeos 1.40. Try flashing a rom that didnt come from your service provider, you should see an improvement too

hey,
i dont have a custom rom yet! all original
customized tf3d with the 3 extra tabs, did some registrytweaks for it runs smooth and very fast
i was thinking all the people is complaining about the speed of the TP but mine is really fast original what speed am i going to expect when i flash a custom rom :|
Is there a way to get a similar touchflo 3d for the touch pro? I especially like that you can customize tabs. Anyway?
My rom from NATF works just as fast or faster
NATF's ROM is very slow for me, I don't know why. I am going to look into flashing something else tomorrow. Looks like ROMeOS might have v. 1.50 by then
Yea, I may flash to another ROM. I just noticed that "out of the box" the sprint version is way faster than at&t (stock rom) Even after you bypass the bloat in at&t ROM. Thx for info guys.
yeah the sprint rom has tons of free memory i was shocked and when you end all programs it doesnt seem to leak it always goes back to like 32 pct used
but i like my fuze once i flashed it. no complaints
Hi There,
I have HTC Touch Pro (GSM) running very slow on both windows mobile and android. about six month ago, It have no problem at all.., i can play divx/xvid smoothly, and some 3d game without a pain.but now, it only in my dream to have angrybird playable/ watching smooth divx videos.
I already hard reset, changed ROM, reformat sdcard, but have no luck. I feel everyday my raphael going slower....
how can i restore my raphael performance?
same problem here...my tp is realy slow since 2 month and duno why
same problem
Same problem here (raphael), but after 2.5y. Its look like "some ****ty switch turn on"... after hardreset also... so maybe some HW problem? Who know...
Disable manila. If you flash roms, get one without Sense. That's my advice.
Also, try getting sk tools and running Clean occasionally. Finally, try this tweak. It really helps (but only do it once).

or use stock manilla 1.0. i had this problem on my touch hd, i was using sense 2.5 which was designed for hd2. i used the stock rom again and it was lighnting quick
i have the same problem, which is the best rom for speed?
it can be a bad flash... i have been using NRG roms for a very long time, but the after the last flash, my raph was crawling... i flashed a newer version and it is all right now.
try the rom in my signature, energy roms here
when i had my raph100 it was going quite fast, not as fast as you would expect but it did have som flow atleast. i reinstalled the rom once when hard-reset wasen´t working and it made the phone fast again. sorry if someone else posted this before, i didnt read the tread
I just got a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. I know, I'm late to the party.
Have a memory question: Using Task Manager - Viewing Processes I see Device.exe is/was using over 12 MB of memory. I did a soft reset and then Device.exe shows 8.85. What kind of foolishness is going on and can anything be done to prevent squandering of precious memory?
Also when I added up all the memory in processes there is a difference of about 45 MB between what the memory adds up to in processes and what Task Manager shows in Program Memory. Who stole the 45 MB?
Using Windows 6.5 with HTC Sense 2.5 and CHT(Cookies Home Tab) 1.85 which is the best theme I've ever used. Also Duttys Task Manager is a cab I couldn't do without.
I chose CHT over SPB Mobile Shell although I do miss a couple of the SPB widgets.
I had thought of an answer for you but my memory isn't what it used to be.
But seriously, try a rom without 2.5 and CHT and you'll be surprised how much memory you have. I suggest using a rom with Sense 2.1 or Rhodium Manila.
Mr. horndoctor: Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't/can't flash. Tried..failed..gave up.
By the way, did you belong to the HTC Touch forum? I think there was a horndoctor that was there.

Yep, that's me!
I suggest flashing back to the Sprint 6.1 shipped rom. I personally use it. Even though it doesn't have all the eye candy that other roms have it is stable and works great. You don't have to be unlocked to flash it just download it to your pc, sync with your device and click on the exe to flash it. In my opinion, there are a lot of problems with the Sprint shipped 6.5 rom.
Thanks for the insight.
Could you elaborate about what you think are some of the issues?
I've had a few Touch Pro 2's and the first 2 locked up a lot but the one I have now hasn't locked up yet (about a week).
Other then that no real problems.
I wanted the 6.1 memory manager and I got that. I went back and forth between SPB Mobile Shell and HTC Sense but with the Cookie Home Tab theme I really am very pleased with it now. I would like to have the birthday/anniversary widget that is build into MS because it is so fast but I have settled for ManilaBirthday.cab.
If you know of a similar program to ManilaBirthday but is fast I'd like to try it.
If you haven't checked out CHT you really should. Nicest most powerful theme I've ever seen and so far very stable.
By the way I read a lot of your posts from the Touch Forum and got a lot of help from you. Thanks for that too.

You're very welcome! It makes me feel good that my efforts might have helped you in any way.
The Sprint 6.5 shipped TP2 rom is based on an early build of 6.5 with Sense 2.5 that has proved to be buggy and very ram hungry. I just don't recommend it but if you are running fine on it then just go with it. You can always flash later to a different rom.
Good Luck!
hello,
my question is.
i have the tool oct v1.5 on my device but when i activated it it works perfectly running very smooth and then it come to my point,
when ive done that i want to boot the frx07 bundle with froyo but it keeps hanging and wont start when i boot the overclock program and after that the bundle because when i dont the overclock thing it starts right away but when i have it booted its really really slow
please help me with that and couldnt find anything like this asked
Have you tried booting Froyo without running the OCT at all? Why is the OCT necessary?
yeah ive done that but when froyo is booted the phone works very slowly thats why i asked if you people got any solution to fix it and want it to be working faster cause its to slow now cant do anything

I'm unfamiliar with the current Android situation on the Rhodium, but what about an overclocked kernel? Are you running a NAND ROM, or from the SD?
Sent from my HTC Vivid
im running it on my sd card dont know how else to do it
There are some testing NAND builds in the Android Dev section for TP2. NAND runs Android from the handsets memory, as opposed to from the SD card.
This alone will give you a speed boost, however the general consensus is that it's just not quick regardless. I see some users using OCT, but many of the Chefs recommend 'No Frills CPU' instead. Perhaps you could give that a go instead of OCT?
ok im gonna try that no frills thing hope it works i let you know thnx in advance
nice the no frills makes it a little faster but it dont overclock above 528 so i put minimal to 528 and max the same it runs a little smoother now i dont want to f*cks with the nand version until there is a smooth version of it thnx very very much for this
