[REQ] Stop smoking app - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi, does anyone know of a good app to help quit smokinf that works on HD2?
Tried a few this morning, and they all crash or display wrong due to resolution.
Thanks.

Hello,
I try this one which is correctly displayed and work perfectly on HTC HD2.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-smoke-tracker.html

Didn't work for me.
I think it may be a problem with the .net cf insalled as part of my ROM.
Unable to install another version of .net cf 3.5.
Are there any others that don't require.net cf 3.5?

You should be able to install net cf 3.5
This should be the issue instead of looking for something else (A lot of apps require net cf 3.5...)
Did you try the microsoft verion which require Active sync to be installed?
The cab version that work for me (I just extract it from microsoft version) is available here http://dl.free.fr/pTH4IMbaX
Tell me if it's ok

That CAB is the version I already tried to install.
It just says that I already have a later version installed, and to install this version, first remove the other version.
I would remove it, but it is built into the ROM.

Hello!
I'm also using actualy smoke tracker and it work fine on my HD2
I tried several one but smoke tracker is the only one working fine!
Now.... the worse is to stop smoking!
Good luck my dear for that! we could do a group for it also! it could be very helpfull! lol

why don't you lot try will power?

I just uninstalled Deepfish, but it still doesn't work.
It still works for me. I have a friend with a Palm 700wx and his stoped working. he reflashed his rom. Still no good. He gets an error window with an X on it. I back-dated his clock to last month and it installs and runs but wont login because of incorrect clock. After correcting the date he gets the X. So I believe this beta was set to expire in april. Maby a new beta is available. Anyone know?
Guys, WM6 built in works just fine. So if you arent using WM6 then maybe you should be posting this in the WM5 section of the forum. Im on My Vanilla at the moment to test this out. Seems my boss has found the forum and likes emailing me links to stuff like this hoping that this will not effect my rom that is in the works for corp. Please make sure your posting in the right section. Causing me more work and emails to answer LOL. Help a brother out...
Call me retarted. I didnt see the line. LOL. Damn boss got me all frustrated. They want this and they want that. Argh. As for me, My live works just fine. but I know M$ released the actual deal so i think the beta is expired. Go get the real deal.
Solution
Hi, I had this problem too. The solution was:
1- Change the time of my ppc to any date of 2006.
2- Uninstall Windows Live.
3- Change the time to actual date.
4- Install WindowsLive.PPC_ARM_NonBETA_NoDate.CAB.
This version don´t expire. Was estracted from a Wm6 Rom and works on WM5 and WM6.
Now, I´m using Xplore 1.1 Wm6 Rom and dont have this problem.
Bye.

MusicID (shazam)

Hi all,
From yesterday MusicID is no longer working.
I got the following result after it analyses music
Track: Ugrade Now!
Artist: Get Shazam
I got an upgrade link that leads me nowhere (this is not possible to go any futher).
Anyone knows why?
I visited www.shazam.com put there are no WM version available. But there are RIM, iPhone, Symbian, Android,... versions...
Any MusicID alternative? (I know that Samsung developped a similar application, available with the new i8000 Omnia 2)
Thx in advance for your help.
Still working for me
I hadn't used it in awhile, so I fired it up after reading your post.
It could be the version you have installed. Someone said that at least one of the versions was tied to a particular persons account, so that account could at some point stop working, but that's just a theory.
I'm using 1.3.16_QVGA by Lepsyfou.
try www.musicid2.com

Same. My L26 rom with 1.3.16 on my HD gives the same error.
Would love an alternative version.

Alternative found
Just follow this link: http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/08...app-ported-for-all-windows-mobile-phones.html
This app is even better than Shazam as you can sing or hum a song in order to find the author name and the title of the track.
It works just perfect on my Touch HD!!!
Great find!
The UI fits the HD much better too. The reg edit to make it work from the phones data connection as well as wifi is a bit annoying, but worth the small hassle
Thanks for the update Dino.

Works perfect on my TP2 as well
1800 link seems to imply its no longer freely available, and the downloads gone.
Its available free of charge here and seems to be most recent version, works perfectly on my HD2 without any need for registry hacks.

Pocket Scrobbler, Fring?

Hi,
Had the device less than a day and loving it.
I'm finding Pocket Scrobbler can't detect track information from the HTC Music Player. I've messaged the softwares developer, but in the meantime I was wondering whether anyone had managed to get it working, or if people have a good alternative?
Regarding Fring, I tried the installation via SMS, it gave me a generic WinMo installation. It appears to install fine, but then when you select the Fring icon to open the program nothing happens. Installed a couple of times, restarted phone, but no joy with either of those simple fixes. Again, suggestions or alternatives?

Ah, I see. Thanks for that.
Anyone know of other programs that amalgamate your IM/VoIP accounts for WinMo 6.5?
I have been using nimbuzz and it seems to work fine..

I am a Fring fan as well and I have written in Fring forums about the nature of the problem during my HD time (running Leo ROMs) the problem occurs only when the HTC Message is running.
So a temp fix is disabling HTC Sense from Today and enjoy Fring..
I hope the guys at Fring find a work around solution for this.
Thanks for the suggestion of Nimbuzz, I installed it a few hours before reading your post

Light Saber

Hi, can anyone explain why apps like 'Light Sabre' are NOT working on the HD2? I know they are just silly apps but it was fun to have/use/show off.
I do not understand why they do not work. Or am I doing something wrong here.
Thanks for an answer.
you need .net framework 3.5 for it to work, worked on mine anyway after i installed it
I have .net installed and I can start the app but the sword is not making those nice sounds.
I can play the theme and I can make the sword grow and shrink but when I move my HD2 around there are no 'swoosh' sounds. (I do not know how to describe the sound. )
no "swoosh" sounds here either...
i've downloaded the light sabre cab file but it wont install, comes up with the "installation of lightsaber.cab was unsuccessful" message. I've downloaded the .net 3.5 from microsoft and that installed ok, soft reset the phone but still nothing, this happens on quite a lot of .cab files
Is there a different .net 3.5? i've just got my o2 hd2 and havent changed anything yet.....
Please help i need apps and games
I used that one and it works just fine: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-light-saber-v1-0.html
ofc I have .net framework 3.5 installed, this one: NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab
i've downloaded and installed NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab , the lightsabre file i had still wouldnt open, but downloaded the other one (your link) and it works ok, so thanks for that.
I've got a few others but they wont load, so im not sure why some work and some dont?

Bing compatibility

Hi -- I just downloaded the new version of Bing. I'm running it on an HTC Sedna with Windows Mobile 6.1. It _seems_ to work fine on my phone. Fine except for the fact that within a minute or two I get a message which says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application," after which Bing shuts down. Any ideas on how to get around this? This software is supposed to work with WM 6.1 phones and it seems to do so until Microsoft pulls the plug!
Thanks, Alan
Are you using a cooked ROM?
I suggest you to install it on a emulator and see what happens
Thanks -- no, I'm using the standard HTC ROM. (I don't even think there ARE any cooked ROMS for this phone!)
I've never dealt with an emulator, so I don't immediately know how to do what you're suggesting, nor do I have a sense of how time consuming that would be. But would it be worthwhile to go down that road? If Bing worked on the emulator, how would that help me figure out how to make it work on my phone?
I wonder if there's a way to tell Bing that I've got a different kind of phone. I suspect that would fix this. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!
Alan
Ok, but you can share where you got the installation file(just to do a test here).
Thanks.
Yes -- I got it from here:
http://static.appserver.m.bing.net/binaries/winmo/v1/Bing.CAB
I was running the previous version of Bing, and the program sent me to this link to get the updated version (which then gives me errors about my phone not being supported).
Thanks, Alan
Thanks very much, I'm going to test it.
Wait some time...
That's terrific! Thanks so much!

Bing...
Works OK on Diamond 1 with stock 6.1 ROM. Not sure if I like it or not..
Right -- I know it works on other WM 6.1 phones. I'm wondering how to run it on mine. I suspect the solution is to make Bing think I'm using a Diamond or some other phone it knows it's compatible with. Anyone know how to do this? What does it use to figure out what sort of phone I have?
Thanks, Alan
It's working on my emulator.
Have you already tried another version?
I don't really understand what you're asking ... I've run this program on two different (stock WM 6.1) HTC P6500s with the same result: it works fine a little while, then I get a message that I'm not using a supported device and the software shuts down. I don't know how running this on an emulator would help me fix the problem. I know that the software works fine on Diamonds, Touch Pro2, Diamond 2, and other officially-supported WM 6.1 phones. And I know that the software detects my P6500 as not supported and therefore will stop working after a while.
SO: the question is how to get Bing to believe I'm using a phone that it considers supported? I've tried replacing P6500 with T5353 (Touch Diamond 2) in a couple of places in the registry:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
But it doesn't seem to make a difference ....
Does anyone have any other ideas about how I might fix this?
Thanks,
Alan
I think that change these registrys:
Code:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\ DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
Isn't a very good thing, because this can turn your device unstable.
PS: I'm going to Google for some solution.
I need one thing to solve your problem as fast as I can. It's the error code.
Thanks.
Thanks so much ... Yeah, I didn't leave those registry changes on long: just a quick experiment.
OK, forgive my ignorance, but how can I find out the error code to tell you?
Thank you!
Alan
Error in images, this is after being cooked in, works for a few min but than get a compatibility error and shuts down
Interesting -- that's a different error than the one I get, though mine generally comes up around the same time. Mine says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application."
How do we find error codes for these?
Alan
It seems they have the same root, this has been cooked in I was hoping to go "around" the not supportive error that you get with the cab file.
Since I took it out of my build I think the best way will be to run it cooked in an emulator to get it.
Huh, interesting...
I'm going to take a better look on this.
