Pocket Scrobbler, Fring? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi,
Had the device less than a day and loving it.
I'm finding Pocket Scrobbler can't detect track information from the HTC Music Player. I've messaged the softwares developer, but in the meantime I was wondering whether anyone had managed to get it working, or if people have a good alternative?
Regarding Fring, I tried the installation via SMS, it gave me a generic WinMo installation. It appears to install fine, but then when you select the Fring icon to open the program nothing happens. Installed a couple of times, restarted phone, but no joy with either of those simple fixes. Again, suggestions or alternatives?

As far as I know, current fring versions doesn't work with wm6.5.
The last rom I have used fringe was Roms based on wm6.1.

Ah, I see. Thanks for that.
Anyone know of other programs that amalgamate your IM/VoIP accounts for WinMo 6.5?

I have been using nimbuzz and it seems to work fine..

I am a Fring fan as well and I have written in Fring forums about the nature of the problem during my HD time (running Leo ROMs) the problem occurs only when the HTC Message is running.
So a temp fix is disabling HTC Sense from Today and enjoy Fring..
I hope the guys at Fring find a work around solution for this.

Thanks for the suggestion of Nimbuzz, I installed it a few hours before reading your post

Windows Live Messenger 10.6.33.0600 for Smartphones

For all those who had in the last days problems with WLM, here I compiled a cab from the latest WLM files, version 10.6.33.0600 extracted from HTC Wings, thanks to Dr Gonzo to share those files with me.
Please, don't forget to install only in Smartphones devices
Download link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=65631&d=1200106866
Install instructions can you get here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334621
It works pretty well on my Tornado, I hope in yours too.
I think this thread should be better moved to "Smartphone general"
I also had some issues with Windows Live on my Tornado since several weeks.
I've just made a "Clear storage" of my Tornado (with the WM6 Phil's ROM, or Perfect English, I don't remember which one I chose when I installed it in August), and I installed Windows Live from the link you gave (this is the very first application I installed after having reset the phone).
Now I can synchronise my Hotmail account again, my Messenger display picure and screenname are updated, BUT I still can't connect to Messenger. I get this:
There is a problem with the server. Please try again later.

What's happening?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!!
works great metanol...I didn't experiment any issue with messenger, works just like supposed to do
hotmail inbox on the contrary seems to work not so good, I'm only able to download titles of the emails but there is no option to download them...performing send/receive doesn't help
anyway I don't care about that

known issue..!!! there are many people experimenting that problem with PPC and SP WLM versionen, but i've found only an unusual solution. turn off your phone connection in Comm Mngr, just activate the flight modus, restart the device, the phone should be without radio activity, and then connect to MSN via WLAN.
There is not a way to connect to the WLM using the WLAN while the radio phone activity is on, I have the feeling WLM pretends to connect using GPRS, and i don't have any GPRS profile configurated (i don't wanna expend money for chatting with WLM)
Here is an older WLM version for SPs posted from leepriestenator at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1781429&postcount=182
Is an older version which mix the phone contacts and the MSN/Hotmail contacts on the same list, not good at all. But it works...!!

My experience with WML is totally diferent. I use GPRS, I also have Wi-Fi. It will connect on Wi-Fi at all times, w/o any troubles. However it will not connect on GPRS. It goes thrue 4 of 5 steps which tells me that it is in deed connecting to the server, and it stores the PW. But when it gets to step 5 (checking internet connection), there it hangs for a while and then says I have poor or no connection.
Funny.... I do want to use GPRS, as I'm on the road all the time and have unlimited data plan... Any ideas?

I have a strange problem... these cabs install on my device beautifully and things work perfect except for one thing. I have set up the sync schedule as items arrive... but the automatic sync does not automatically start on after a soft reset. I have to manually go and sync.... and then it works just fine... am I doing something wrong?
Is there an updated version for smartphones?

Facebook Chat on HD2

This one goes to all the windows phone newcomers who are looking for a way to use facebook chat on their new HTC LEO / HD2, which lacks from both native winmo facebook app, and HTC Sense facebook integration.
The software name is FIM (Facebook Instant Messenger) and beside the fb chat it integrates many of the core facebook features like status feed, notifications, photo post, and pretty much everything else via Facebook's mobile site.
Most important is that the software is finger friendly and I'm using it myself on HD2, so later I will post a video of the software on HD2 for those who still consider buying this awesome device.
You can find the rest of the details here
You can also download it directly on your device by navigating to http://get.mosko.mobi
will give it a go
Good job

excellent app, congrats
fantastic app! best facebook app ive used on the HD2 yet! thank you!!!
does not work on 3G -1
How much is this likely to kill the battery if it was left running in the background?
I'm fairly sure it was Palringo that gave me my battery issues when I first got the HD2.
While we're talking about Facebook app on HD2, how come i can't see my thumbs of my uploaded pictures? Is this a setting somewhere or just a bug?
Thank you very much, been looking for exactly this.......
I am trying to dl this, but it looks like the website is down?
same here, seems broken? anyone got the cab?
great ap though it does drain the battery got a percentage icon running and you can see it counting down
Site seems to be working again!
Hi, excellent app! love it. BUT......
...95% of the time when I open fim and try to sign in it fails to connect and pops up with the message "Failed using the internet connection. Try to restart your data connection". This is on my HD2 which I've only had for a few days and it's also my first winmo so I'm a complete noob. It doesnt matter how many times I turn on/off wifi it makes no difference and I get the same error both on my wifi at home and at work so I'm a bit baffled - especially as it does occasionally work first try.
If anyone can point me in the direction of where I'm going wrong I will be eternally grateful lol.
Cheers,
Matt
Thanks a lot for this, it's a damn shame the official Facebook app totally sucks compared to the iPhone version which allows for so much more. It's small things like this that make the whole device user experience suck. It's not HTC's fault.

Hi all, +1 for the same problem. but i'm not a complete noob and not in wifi.
edit: I may have found the solution "Incorrect Email/Password Combination": but you are positively sure you entered everything correctly? well, if you have special characters in your email or password replace them. only numbers, English letters and of course @ at the email allowed, also keep in mind that facebook passwords are case sensitive."

Bing compatibility

Hi -- I just downloaded the new version of Bing. I'm running it on an HTC Sedna with Windows Mobile 6.1. It _seems_ to work fine on my phone. Fine except for the fact that within a minute or two I get a message which says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application," after which Bing shuts down. Any ideas on how to get around this? This software is supposed to work with WM 6.1 phones and it seems to do so until Microsoft pulls the plug!
Thanks, Alan
Are you using a cooked ROM?
I suggest you to install it on a emulator and see what happens
Thanks -- no, I'm using the standard HTC ROM. (I don't even think there ARE any cooked ROMS for this phone!)
I've never dealt with an emulator, so I don't immediately know how to do what you're suggesting, nor do I have a sense of how time consuming that would be. But would it be worthwhile to go down that road? If Bing worked on the emulator, how would that help me figure out how to make it work on my phone?
I wonder if there's a way to tell Bing that I've got a different kind of phone. I suspect that would fix this. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!
Alan
Ok, but you can share where you got the installation file(just to do a test here).
Thanks.
Yes -- I got it from here:
http://static.appserver.m.bing.net/binaries/winmo/v1/Bing.CAB
I was running the previous version of Bing, and the program sent me to this link to get the updated version (which then gives me errors about my phone not being supported).
Thanks, Alan
Thanks very much, I'm going to test it.
Wait some time...
That's terrific! Thanks so much!
--Alan
Bing...
Works OK on Diamond 1 with stock 6.1 ROM. Not sure if I like it or not..
Right -- I know it works on other WM 6.1 phones. I'm wondering how to run it on mine. I suspect the solution is to make Bing think I'm using a Diamond or some other phone it knows it's compatible with. Anyone know how to do this? What does it use to figure out what sort of phone I have?
Thanks, Alan
It's working on my emulator.
Have you already tried another version?
I don't really understand what you're asking ... I've run this program on two different (stock WM 6.1) HTC P6500s with the same result: it works fine a little while, then I get a message that I'm not using a supported device and the software shuts down. I don't know how running this on an emulator would help me fix the problem. I know that the software works fine on Diamonds, Touch Pro2, Diamond 2, and other officially-supported WM 6.1 phones. And I know that the software detects my P6500 as not supported and therefore will stop working after a while.
SO: the question is how to get Bing to believe I'm using a phone that it considers supported? I've tried replacing P6500 with T5353 (Touch Diamond 2) in a couple of places in the registry:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
But it doesn't seem to make a difference ....
Does anyone have any other ideas about how I might fix this?
Thanks,
Alan
I think that change these registrys:
Code:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\ DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
Isn't a very good thing, because this can turn your device unstable.
PS: I'm going to Google for some solution.
I need one thing to solve your problem as fast as I can. It's the error code.
Thanks.
Thanks so much ... Yeah, I didn't leave those registry changes on long: just a quick experiment.
OK, forgive my ignorance, but how can I find out the error code to tell you?
Thank you!
Alan
Error in images, this is after being cooked in, works for a few min but than get a compatibility error and shuts down
Interesting -- that's a different error than the one I get, though mine generally comes up around the same time. Mine says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application."
How do we find error codes for these?
Alan
It seems they have the same root, this has been cooked in I was hoping to go "around" the not supportive error that you get with the cab file.
Since I took it out of my build I think the best way will be to run it cooked in an emulator to get it.
Huh, interesting...
I'm going to take a better look on this.

Voip ?

Hi all !
I want to use a voip application in my touch2, however, it's seams this functionallity was banned by htc.
does anyone achieved to install and work with it?
I tried to follow a tutorial, but it disconnect my gps radio ...
Try nimbuzz, it supports sip too.
Yes,
It may supports, but I don't achieve to get it working on my touch2.
Is there any other alternative?
I take PortSIP, this app works well.
Look for the portsipcabwm6.cab. This one is perfect for our Touch2.
You can use with all standard SIP-Provider. I use SPARVOIP, they are very cheap (for short calls free of charge) in germany and some other countries.
There is also a checkbox and then die Main-Speaker is disabled.
So you get no "speaker-problem", that´s absolute great.
Only the contact-Button causes a problem.
It looks like a softwar shutdown, but after you quit the message it works.
I confirm PortSIP good working program. Sound is output on the headset, but not speaker.
try skype 2
I tryed skype and works well.
portsip help please.
hello everyone, this is my first time i write in a forum and i hope i am doing so in the right place. Moderator please move post if needed.
First of all hi to everyone and thank you for sharing your knowledge with me too, without knowing in the past few months you all have been very helpful to me.
I have now a little problem with portsip that is driving me insane.
I have a HTC touch 2 (t3333 / mega) and i had installed portsip for voipstunt using wifi, Everything was working fine until 2 days ago. I was able to make calls to landlines as well as to other voipstunt users.
2 days ago everything went wrong, after a full day of trying, i found out that i can now make calls to landline only for it to work fine.
When i try to call an other voipstunt user it rings normally, from the otherside they can pick the phonecall up, but my mic would be mute so they cant hear me.
i tried everything, unistall and reinstall portsip and even hard reset the htc, nothing worked, it is like portsip doesnt see the htc microfone anymore, but only when calling an othe sip user, when calling a landline everything is fine.
could somebody help me please, i feel like giving up, and also it is very frustrating as everything was working perfectly, and i was very happy with it,now i feel like getting rid of it.
thank you in advance for your help.

I agree
nimbuz works with no problem on Touch 2 with sip feature< been making loads of calls via nimbuzz, alternativley there is a cab somehere native wm6.5 voip cab which works ok with schaps sipconfig tool but I dont recommend the wm6.5 cab as requires faffing around with dlls etc etc to get the codecs work on may sip providers etc etc. Nimbuz is very simple and works great if not you can always try fring I believe it has sip feature

Works fine and allows many other profiles and you can change between operators quickly.

[Q] Need a chat app, that is NOT palringo

Palringo straight up sucks. as of right now it has been "Logging in" for 3 hours, tried rebooting phone, checked connection etc etc.. Of course there is no visual cue that you have a message,(blinking LED) or when you are disconnected.
it sucks, i hate it, want something, anything else.
tried to get ebuddy, cant, says its not authorized or something to that effect..
is there ANY program out there (other than junkringo) that works on this phone? without having to do any mods BS to get it to work?
I take it you're not looking for MSN then?
something that DOES NOT use sms to send and recieve yahoo chat messages.
How about this. Not the most obvious thing in the world I suppose, but I thought of it...

Wow, thanks for the smartass answer an all..
but have you even tried to install it on an HD2?
hmm?
does your say " 'ymsgr-ppc' is not a valid pocket PC application"
maybe i should google it.
mmm... yea, well it says its for winmo5.. so I googled the HD2 and found it with google, it uses winmo6.5 and then googled again and could not find where it said that app supports winmo6.5.... but I did find where it said it does not support 6.1 but maybe it skipped 6.1 because it wasnt cool, or didnt use google enough... hmm
maybe i should google some more.
too bad i cant get it to work too, what with a rockin rating of 2/10 i think you managed to google up the one chat app that might suck worse than palringo..
At least I tried, which is more than you could be bothered doing.
Couple of options
BeeJive for WM 6.5 works, but is no longer being supported. It's in permanent beta and every once in a while their servers go down for a few days.
You can get the ebuddy java app to work. You need to install Mighty's Photon jBlend java app on your HD2, then you can get java apps to install fine. I don't have a link handy but you can find it on XDA.
Try BeeJive first, if it's working, it's really good.
