And thats windows 7 wad skin, not a windows phone 7 skin.

That is correct mate

It's very interesting info and discussion about on Murtazin's blog, seems we will see WM7 leaked ROM's very soon

Yeah, Beasty told me also
Hope soon we can have it ported to our beloved Uni´s!

Porting seems to be somewhat problematic, seeing minimum requirements for WM7 is 1Ghz processor. Whether it means we'll have to be happy with 'the look' of WM7, as in themes that resemble the OS, or scaled down version of OS remains to be seen.

"Tomal... when are you going to be doing the service for upgrading our Uni's to 1GHz?"

1Ghz it's not the minimum to run WM7, custom roms will be running on some oldest devices too

Hehe, I'd be happy with 256 ram, forget the processor. Still have 2 boards to send to Tomal, just no longer have spare funds.

Similar here, won´t go back to symbian/maemo, WM still solid and a stable buisness eviorment OS, I stay with it for now...
As for Android, perhaps in the near future could be a good option, immature OS for now.

Acer F1 full review - 1Ghz Snapdragon

After many searches in google, i have finally found a review (made by [email protected]) of Acer´s 1 ghz Snapdragon pocketpc.
It seems a good (and cheaper) competitor to HTC Leo and Toshiba TG01...

Tri-Band HSDPA including ATT 850 ?? Can that be right ?
Wow! the SPB benchmark index numbers are much better than the Leo. Very impressive on Acer's part.
Acer F1 (Leo)

6875.36 (6494.18)
File system index
1006.03 (747.02)

Hopefully the Leo's performance will increase when beta testing of the software is complete

Hmm, as someone not very familiar with SPB Benchmark software, would anyone mind telling me if having an increase of 400-500 points is a significant improvement or is it in actuality just a small improvement?

I wouldn't say it's significant, but enough for you to take notice. Another thing to be aware is the fact that (i think) the released TG01 has OGLES2.0 software whereas the Leo in beleforte's testing was a OGLES1.1. Once the Leo is released with the final software, I'm sure both of their numbers will be somewhat identical as they run on the same hardware.

Thanks for posting this link chocula81 - I'd been looking everywhere for a review. I guess your Google skills are much better than mine.
I'm seriously tempted by this phone as it's so much cheaper here in the UK than the Omnia II, not to mention the TG01 and the Leo. More importantly, it's available right now too!
I think the lack of short term support is going to make me wait though, especially as it seems to lack a reasonable TouchFlo alternative.
I hope Acer sell a truck load of these at HTC's expense so that the latter has to drop their sim free prices ; )

I see. Thank you very much.
Acer NeoTouch vs. HD2 I can see how there can be a comparison...but after watching both videos the HD2 is far and away the better phone for its lack of windows screens (ugly white screens with text aka SMS page) and its responsiveness. You clearly see the difference between Capacitive and Resistive screens if anything during the slide to unlock sequences. Both phones are running snapdragon and it still seemed like the HD2 was light years ahead in terms of fluidity of the total device. But I will say, for the price the NeoTouch is one helluva device, and if this site backed it, it would be a powerhouse of a device
Expansys usa added 100+ acer f1 to there stock, il be buying one very soon.
Edit: i miss read and also call them, they said they will have 100+ acer f1 in stock in 6 days or more ><, guess il have to wait.

Awesome. The main thing that worries me is the battery life. China mobiles usually have very poor batteries.
what a lawsuit this would be!
I'd be interested in trying this launcher out

Cool phone! I am using Galaxy tab to Android but my phone HTC diamond crashed before few months and my primary phone now is crappy Nokia 3100 I am seriously thinking about this, I love iOS view and I love Android options! I am in love with that phone!!!!
Processor: Qualcom MSM7227
Display reulotion: WVGA screen, 320*480 ==> how come WVGA similar to 320*480?
Battery: Built-in Li-on battery, 1350mAh
Built-in Memory: 512MB ROM / 256MB RAM
about the processor, it's the same with my galaxy ACE, but mine runs at 800 MHz (default). if u checked at pdadb.net, those series will have default clock at 600 MHz, i doubt if it can run on 1 Ghz
the rest of specs are the same with galaxy ace
259.99 USD? it is 170 USD marked in the site!(999RMB)
I skimmed through the video, it seems fake.
where in that video does it show it's an android phone?

Microsoft's quad-core tablet

So M$ flashed a quad-core tablet at the TechEd conference. Early previews of Windows 8 running Tegra 3 perhaps?
Article courtesy of Tom's Hardware:

Move over, dual-core Galaxy Tab. Microsoft's got a quad-core tablet in its arsenal.
Microsoft is currently holding its TechEd conference in New Zealand and where there's a conference there's usually a whiff of upcoming products, too. TechEd hasn't disappointed us, either, as Redmond this week gave attendees a sneak peek at an upcoming Windows tablet that's packing a quad-core processor.

ZDNet reports that during the company's “Windows device session,” Microsoft Enterprise Strategist Jeff Johnson talked about the company’s tablet strategy and offered those in the audience a glimpse of two upcoming Windows tablets. The second tablet is said to have been thicker than the first and boasted a removable battery, but that's not really much to go on. The first tablet, however, Johnson described as a quad-core Windows slate that the company plans to announce at an upcoming Microsoft event. He didn't say much else, but it was enough to set tongues wagging.
This event Johnson is referring to is thought to be Redmond's BUILD conference set for next month and the device in question is believed to be a Windows 8 device. There's also rumors that Microsoft will be giving units away to paying attendees at BUILD so they could develop apps for Windows 8. September is just around the corner, so stay tuned!

That's a lot of assumption on a product that's not even out yet. To be honest, windows7 actually runs pretty nicely on regular tablets (not slates) but it's just not finger friendly
this is going to need a lot of battery power?

did you actually read the article?, the devices will run quad core processors, and im sure microsoft has a slimmed and tuned version of windows 8 especially for the tablet devices to further improve it, and real drivers so everything will work
windows 7 runs well, it clearly outperforms windows xp on 800mhz cpu powered netbooks and i know this from personal experience with several netbooks.
windows 8 should be better,MS will most likely use win7 as the base with a finger friendly ui over the top kinda like media centre maybe.
i have been waiting for a real windows powered tablet for a long time, i hope they get it right.
if it has quad core its probably something designed by the likes of intel. please correct me if im wrong, but something to do with how a tegra and the likes (qualcomm, etc) design there chips means they only work with linux based kernels. they use ARM architecture or something??? which i believe windows won't run on, please correct me if im way out, im a little rusty on all this stuff, but yeah...

M$ should've bought up the team behind Rainmeter's Omnimo series to design the new Windows 8 touch UI.
Windows file explorer 8 is everything but touch friendly. The ONLY thing touch friendly is the home shell with the panels.
Windows 8 will support SoC with ARM instruction set. And Windows 8 is the first step of mobile/tablet OS consolidation

Is that a USB key in your pocket or a dual-core computer? Today, Norwegian company FXI technologies showed off a USB stick-sized portable computer prototype, complete with a dual-core 1.2-GHz Samsung Exynos ARM CPU (same as in the Galaxy S II), 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI-out and a microSD card slot for memory. Codenamed Cotton Candy because its 21 gram weight is the same as a bag of the confection, the tiny PC enables what its inventor calls “Any Screen Computing,” the ability to turn any TV, laptop, phone, tablet, or set-top box into a dumb terminal for its Android operating system.

The Cotton Candy also runs arm compatible versions of Linux, and is said to be compatible with Windows 8 ARM.
Thoughts? I think this would be great for low end computer replacement, or a small gaming system for emulators along side a bluetooth controller and a 32gb memory card. Even a small media center hub for your TV, download Netflix, Hulu, video apps, or whatever streaming and media apps you want and boom, HTPC right there.

Apparently it's a portable Exynos soc, so it won't be that hard to port ICS to that little bad boy when Samsung pushes the update for the GS2.
I'm thinking win8 with arm support to be a real PC
Max. (From my Galaxy 2)
And who says there is no need for a quad core mobile cpu. Although the chip they are using is nice, and tegra 3 or quad core Samsung soc would be awesome on this device.
